For anyone who doesn't know, when DIO was in the studio recording his verse of the song, he actually ended up blowing out one of their microphones with his powerful voice. Rest In Peace Legend.

OMG it's like watching two aliens watch Earthlings for the first time and I'm trying to scream through my phone to explain who meatloaf is, haha.
Just to clear it for you guys. MEATLOAF is a person who is a rock legend with theatrical overtones. He has an amazing voice and is also a great actor and has been in many movies and TV shows.his biggest musical success came from his BAT OUT OF HELL album. Which is I believe either the best selling album of all time or at least at the top. It is a true concept album. Paradise by the dashboard light is great song but out of context it won't make as much sense. Best to start with the actual bat out of hell song. It's a great story. It's basically about a motorcycle crash. Just great.
With tenacious d jack black and hid buddy are the band. It's kind of comedy themed music as you can see. The music is tied in to movies and skits. They are freaking halarious. It is meant to be over the top.

What I mean is that while there is story both before and after it, if this song exists in a bubble, at no point is the listener confused about anything or missing the point. The rest of the album gives color, but not much.

Ok, so, that was Jack Black singing. He started Tenacious D with Kyle Gass back in 1994. They put out a Tenacious D movie in 2006 called Pick of Destiny, which is where this video is from. Also, Meatloaf played his dad in the video. \,,/

They've made several albums. They're kinda a comedy duo & not meant to be taken too seriously but they're very good & Jack Black is a fantastic vocalist.

For a band like Tenacious D, you should at least know the basics like the fact that the members are Jack Black and Kyle Gass. Tenacious D is more of a comedy act/tribute/caricature than a serious music act. Tenacious D is the creation of Jack Black and comedian friend Kyle Gass. Black is a metal fan and a big-time Dio fan. There is a Nirvana connection...Dave Grohl the drummer of Nirvana and frontman of Foo Fighters is also the drummer for Tenacious D.

Its the intro for the Musical Comedy "Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny", wich is a fantasy and highly comedic origine story of how the band Tenacious D came to.
Tenacious D is a real band, Jack Black as the singer and writter, and Kyle Gass as co-singer and co-writter( they also play guitars), and the rest of the musicians.
The Movie sports a great number of musical numbers and gags/sketches, of course been a Tenacious D movie, all the songs are either Rock or Metal, and revolve around Rock and Metal culture.
With Guest appareances of Dave Grohl(singer from the Foo Figthers and Nirvana's ex-drummer), but also Ben Stiller, Dio, Meatloaf( who's playing JB's Father in the Intro), Tim Robbins and Colin Hanks.
The Pitch of the movie is that JB escapes his over religious familly to go find fame and glory as a rock star, he will meet his partner, found their band, but to really achieve success, they will have to find a Legendary object, an item that is a mistery regarding its origins, but that has the power to turn even the average Joe into a Rock God, something that nearly all the greatest musician and Rock Stars through history had in their possession at one point in their lives; the Pick of Destiny!...
Its a movie released in 2006, and even though it was a hit with the fans of the band and rock/metal fans in general, it was still a niche movie, for a niche genre, so while it did make some money, it still wasn't enough to be widely knowed outside the US and internet.
But the comedy acts and the musics (all original composition from JB and Kyle, 15 tracks total), made the movie a huge hit for the fans and became a source of memes and gifs on the net.

You guys should see the movie Tenacious D the Pick of Destiny. It’s amazing. The band is comprised of Jack Black, Kyle Gass, and the drummer is Dave Grohl singer of Foo Fighters and drummer of Nirvana. They play acoustic/metal music and it’s all parody-ish funny songs.

Yeah, for those not knowing, for a long, long long arse time, during middle ages, Music was divided in 2, Holy and Profane.
Holy been all the musics, cantates etc that was played or sung in churches, and Profane, wich was, everything else.
In the Holy music, there was a lot of rules that one had to follow to write musical partitions, and there was a few notes, that even though now we like them a use them, was deemed inpure and just evil back then, even without the overly religious ingerance at the time, people's musicale taste was really different, so that a bunch of todays run of the mill notes, that we hear everyday, would have been perceived has false, distorted or simply not good( like a cat walking over a piano)
And the Church particullarly hated a Note, who was called the Tri-tone, a note that as his name suggest as 3 tones in one, while nowadays its not a big deal, at the time the sound this note gave was so distorted and sounded omnious, that it was banned by the Church.
Its was dubbed the "Devil's Note, or devil's music"
And off course when Black Sabbath at the time made their debut song "Black Sabbath", they decided to use this note throughout the song, for obvious reasons...
