- Let's talk money!
Today I am exploring How much ACCA Accountants Earn in the United Kingdom
I will dive deep into the salary potential of a qualified accountant.
All numbers are taken from Reed.co.uk and are in GBP currency.
I will also reveal how much do I earn in my role of an FC as a fully qualified Chartered Certified Accountant.
I discussed the roles from the Practice and Industry just to show the comparison as well.
Remember that all of the jobs are only from the ACCA stage, meaning you are not likely to be hired for the job unless having done a ACCA qualification.
This is also relevant to ACA or CIMA qualification as the UK market equally recognises and values them all.
The roles covered in the video:
Practice Accountant
Senior Accountant
Practice Manager
Senior Manager
Partner
There is a very big gap from what the partner in a small practice can ear to the one that Big4 firms earn and I did mention what is the bracket for the partner in one of the Big 4 firms.
EY
Deloitte
KPMG
PwC
The industry roles discussed:
Financial Accountant
Management Accountant
Financial Manager
Financial Controller
Corporate Tax Consultant
Internal Auditor
Financial Director
Chief Financial Officer
Chier Executive Officer
I tried covering most of the roles but after recording, I realised that there are still some that I did not cover so here is the titles for some other roles I did miss off the list:
Financial Adviser
Project Accountant
Finance Analyst
Credit Controller
Finance Business Partner
Payroll Manager
OR you can also become a teacher as being ACCA qualified would allow you to teach others to become qualified as well (just thought this was important to mention)

Hi, @@AgnesMann, I live in Ireland and I am finishing the Masters in Accounting and Finance. That degree provides 9 exemptions for ACCA, after which I intend to start as soon as I submit the dissertation in September. I am not so young (38 years old) and I was struggling with the "deadline" to be a mother and the accomplishment of my goal of being full ACCA qualified. So, you proved that it is possible to study while working and being a mother. So I don't know what is gonna happen this year, but I am more comfortable with the idea. I don't have family or friends here to help. However, same as you, I have a wonderful husband. So I think I can do it. And if a baby comes in the middle of the process, it is not the end of the world. Thank you for sharing your amazing story! You are a strong woman!
@@natashacerqueira3935 omg that’s fantastic to hear, you are doing amazing being a mummy and educating yourself. And Master! Wow. I did the degree on same subject and also had 9 exemptions but to be honest if I could do it all over again I would just do Acca from scratch. Now the student loan co takes £200 every month off my pay check. But I am happy it worked out that way anyways. So happy to hear your story too. We are all strong! Woman are powerful and fierce and once we set our heart one something- it’s done! Keep in touch hun and thank you for a lovely comment. Xxx
Is there anyone here I could study one with
I would appreciate if you read my question. Are we able to handle the accounting job we are wanted after finishing the acca course? I'm kinda afraid of that. Thx
Hi. Acca gears you up for the employment and you have to do 36 months work experience which allows you to get prepared for complex issues when fully qualified. Don’t get worried ahead of time. You’ll be fine
Yes i am doing thanks for this video 😊
Most welcome 😊
7k congrats!!! over 18 thousand views on this vid. Keep it going.
Thank you! It’s been a long journey and yes 7k is amazing but also not too great having published nearly 200 videos. I’ll keep going and see where this journey takes me. I love doing this which is what keeps me going. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Great job Agnes.
Could you please clarify :
What about, someone who is a CA in his country. Has AAT in Nigeria, BSc Accounting, ACCA-Certifr and looking to study MSc Accounting and Finance in UK with about 7 years of experience in accounting as Head of Finance, Finance Manager, Finance Controller in Nigeria(excluding other junior level jobs)
What's the prospective pay like and journey?
Any idea, please?
Thank you
Best thing to do is to send your CV to the recruiter and let them tell you what you can expect in terms of the pay and the opportunity for work. Your in Nigeria now? so would need a sponsorship visa too in that case. I hope this helps
Thanks for motivation, may I ask about the 36 months experiences, does internship also count?
Yes, absolutely, so long it was accounts related. Thank you
Thanku so much Dee jejy
You’re welcome ☺️
Great video as always. I have a video suggestion.
Video about how can someone get a job in another country and how does visa sponsorship stuff works.
Great suggestion! I would need to do an extensive research as it is not something I have ever been involved in. I will try to put something together and plan it out for next month. Thank you so much

Hi please make a detailed video on EPSM. Thank you
Okay sure, I have content planned until the end of the year so will have to hung up until past new year if that is ok
I’ve nearly completed AAT level 2. I planned to do level 3 & 4 then ACCA, but I didn’t realise you could do ACCA without doing AAT first. Would you recommend doing AAT level 3&4 before ACCA or just going straight to ACCA?
Yes you can, unless you don't have GCSE done at first (best to check with ACCA first if you could jump straight in and begin ACCA with what you have, and how many exemptions would you be eligible to get). You would need to check if perhaps one more exam of AAT would not possibly give you another exception as AAT are not as challenging as ACCA, so try squeeze as much as you can from AAT whilst you are already doing AAT. But to answer you question- you can do ACCA from the very basics as long as you are eligable . Check here for eligibility criteria: yourfuture.accaglobal.com/global/en/our-qualifications/fundamentals.html#minimum_entry
Dou you help me ?
I’m a tad baffled about what to do in terms of next steps. I was studying with BPP in London, I’m currently working towards my MSc and have 3 professional exams left to sit. After I finish I want to do my PER (as is required for membership) however I have really low UCAS points which is acting as a barrier for me in terms of my search now (to begin around sept 22). Do you have any advice ? Where to look
You mean where to look for a work? Not sure what is your question exactly
@@AgnesMann yeah where to look for work sorry

Hi Anges, found this video very helpful. I'm a UK national, and completing my acca right after a-levels, will this pose as an issue for me as I decided not to do acca after a 3/4 year uni degree first? an issue in getting jobs I mean.
No issue as such. You need to work alongside studying acca as you will need 3 years work experience in order to qualify for membership. I hope this helps but let me know if you have more questions
Hey, thanks for the video. I'm doing Acca but is it better to study fully or study will working?
Thank you
Hi thanks for the question. I would say do study and work at the same time. you will need 36 months of accounting experience to be able to fully qualify so the sooner you start work the better.
Hi Agnes, I NEED YOUR HELP!!
I just have done my GCSE's and looking for a volunteer accounting job in this summer holidays. Can you PLS tell me how and where to apply I have applied in SOME birmingham accounting firms(via phone and email) can u pls guide me rn.
Thanks.
What if you failed in mathematics in olevel and didn’t do mathematics in alevel? Can I still do the course ?
Not sure what certification you hold so best to check it with acca. I do believe you need maths for it so can’t say for sure
Hi, I'm industry qualified ACCA. What options do I have to start my own business as I cannot get practice certificate untill I get 3 years of experience in practice?
I know a guy who did acca and then he re qualified to IFR I think so he could go open his practice. Acca makes it really hard to do it unless you have practice experience and then you pay as well for the practice licence.
Moreover can you please tell me that how much is the fee of uni for study acca in Birmingham or else where in uk
I’m not sure about uni fee you can check on their website please
Excellent, thank you for infor

all 3 have a big scope and are the areas of the expertise which is valued so I'd go with what you enjoy the most
Hello Agnes, I just registered to be an ACCA student and I am currently waiting for my exemptions as I write, since I also did accounting at the university. I know it is been 3 years since you've posted the video but your title kind of attracted my attention, that you're based in the UK as a foreigner. So I wanted to know more about your journey. Did you already do uni a UK or did you apply an find a job abroad when/after studying ACCA?
Thanks and hats off for your commendable journey🎉
Hi
Yes I was in Uni and I have entire video about my acca journey.

any opportunity for international part qualified students?? if I do my professional level can i continue my study with work?
Hi. To answer your first question- yes I’m sure there are plenty however you would need to chalk your visa status etc. As to work and study- that’s how most people do it- they study and work at the same time and this is the best thing you can do to qualify quicker. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and good luck
very informative
Thank you so much. Are you working as an accountant at the moment ?

thanks for the comment ,which part was your fave?
Hello,I am glad to see you.I am first who watching your videos. Can I give the question about ACCA and CIMA?What do you suggest about ACCA?And what is main differences between them?So may be CIMA better than ACCA?
Hi thanks for warning. Them both have similar recognition in the UK but cima is easier to do I’ve heard.
Thanks
I will be studying for a degree in Accounting and Finance in the uk, do I start the Acca 3 year process after my degree or I can do it during?
I would say finish up the degree first so you can claim some exemptions. It doesn’t have to take you 3 years to finish. It depends on how quick you pass through it
Good info
Glad you think so! Are you currently a student or ACCA qualified? What job do you do?
Hello mam.
As of now I'm pursuing CMA india , and after qualifying CMA I wish to pursue ACCA .
Well done and best of luck on your ACCA journey
Can one move to the UK after becoming an Acca affiliate to do their PER there and alongside pursue a masters degree? Do firms their consider appointing Acca affiliates who have just completed their all papers and are willing to do their PER of 3yrs there?
Being affiliate you can find jobs in the UK but they will be junior positions or assistants. Not sure if you can find a company that will offer a visa for affiliate though. And not sure about the last question you’d need to ask around the recruiting agencies
@@AgnesMann Ok but overall I just wanted to know about the Acca scope, What’s the scope and demand for Acca’s like?

The slaary potential of MA in the UK is £45-100k annually. You can find work in the UK easily if ACCA qualified

I don't have much expertise in this field but for sure people get contract with working visas
@@AgnesMann Thank u for u r feedback ❤️

Hello expecting that you would reply what could be the salary bracket for an ACCA Affiliate and not a member?
It will be just a little lesser than the member as you are pretty much there so the employee would recognise it as near enough the membership

It is given in annual numbers. It would be fun if there is so much in a month. Thank you

Its difficult to say really. It will depend on many factors like location and CV overall. But you will definitely get jobs in the Uk so no worries about that. Acca is great carrier path to choose
@@AgnesMann Ma'am, then what if I complete the diploma in ACCA and then look for jobs cause having a diploma degree is way better than looking for jobs as a class 12 student,, IF I have completed the diploma and look for the internship of 3yrs will there be TRAINEE JOBS available for me in London or UK. since I need to run my daily expenses, tuition fee expenses etc. getting a trainee job would be really helpful for me for the first 3yrs.

I live in Kenya.

Yes, ACCA does give you signing authority. You can open your practice straight away so long you have two years experience working in one, or you can partner up with another ACCA 50/50 so long they have 2 yrs practice experience. Are you ACCA or thinking of doing it?

I'm currently doing AAT Level 2 and planning on going to level 3 and 4. So my question would be , do I need ACCA to reach the higher position within accountancy or would AAT be enough?
It really depends on the company and what they prefer. With AAT you have less options but if you are progressing within the company you should be ok. Check on Reed or any recruiting sites what are the requirements and this should give you the indication what employers are looking for. I hope this helps
@@AgnesMann yes, that's extremely helpful. Thank you

Hello, i got a program graduate role at big 4 for my ACA studying. - do u recommend me staying there long term or leave and start my own practice? Which is greater chance of financial success
you need to work in a practice for 2 years before you can open your own if you want to go the ACCA route of having the practice. stay in big 4 until you finish studying and then move on I'd say.
@@AgnesMann so stay in Big 4 - get the ACA qualification then i can open my own accounting firm? If you dont mind me asking why did u do this? Is it very tough to become profitable in this field?
@@future1127 I didn’t do this as I was never lucky enough to get a job at big 4. I never worked in the practice either. I only was working in the industry and that’s not the best route for the great experience especially if you want to have your own practice

It does depend on how much you study and if you have a job on top of it. During the time you are preparing for the exams, the more you study the more chance you pass the exam. So it is a sacrifice you have to make short term for a long term success. So if you have a job, be prepared to reduce your social life to a minimum and then once you’re done with it catch up with friends. I hope this helps.
@@AgnesMann well i am not gonna do a job gonna study full time. Other than classes how many hours of study should we do. I have heard that if you are consistent you can easily do it.
@@sulimankhan4362 bro depends on you even if you study fro 8 hours(that's a lot ) you still got 10 hours left , considering yousleep for 6 ...so in that 10 hrs it's upto you ,you wanna watch shows and stay at home or go out party with friends (which is considered social life according to some teenagers) both are ways of spending your free time, so it depends on you ..choose
what is the salary for acca (freshers)?
It depends on the previous experience, industry and role really I'd say £25k upwards (at the very bottom in a practice) to even like £50k in an industry with a solid experience
Are salaries annual or per month
Annual
Can you please tell about CIMA-UK as well? Please? I only have to give 1 exam that is strategic case study paper but it's quite expensive for me. 4 Lakhs INR. I will do ACCA as well after 2 years but rn I am focusing on CIMA UK. (Now CGMA). Ps: I am Indian CMA member. I wanna move to Europe. Just let me know if it's worth doing because 4L is quite a big amount for me being a middle class Indian.
CIMA is very similar in terms of future career prospects. once you do CIMA there is no need to do acca as well. One is enough to get a good career. If accounting is your thing than it’s definitely a qualification worth doing and investing money into
