The prelude will either be 250hp a notch under the type R or 350 a notch over the type R. But it won’t be equal to the type R. The OG prelude was the flag ship. The entry level prelude is over the civic according to reports at 35k. so the top notch should be over the type R but they will probably debut that a few years after the base is debuted. If it was me. The entry level would have a 250hp 2.0 4 cylinder turbo. Then the si or type r would have the TLX turbo 6 cylinder with 350 hp. Then add whatever hp from the electric engines

New footage of the car actually being driven confirms its a paddleshifted hybrid powertrain. The S+ mode is actually really impressive for having a fake gearbox. The gearshifts are awesome, smooth, and you can feel each one. It's as if you were driving a DCT. On normal mode, it'll most likely drive like the hybrid civic or accord. If Honda is indeed using the same powertrain as the other hybrids in the lineup, that means you can't modify the engine at all, since it isn't connected to the wheels. Its a generator.
The sleek design does have sleek looks of an older italian exotic vehicle. Just by the size of it is quite bigger than the older prelude models too. I like the looks and Curious to see what it looks like with a spoiler.

I owned a 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen Prelude and was hoping they'd bring them back, but I'm not seeing much of the past body style enough for me to get nostalgic. I almost feel like the new BMW 230i coupe looks more like my 2001 Prelude than this one. I loved the 4WS and the pop up headlights on my 1990.
To add, I currently own a 2020 BMW 230i coupe RWD and it gives me that fun, responsive drive feeling I used to get in my Preludes. I just bought mine two years too early to get the looks.

At that time they had "confirmed" it would be the Hybrid Accord powertrain with the 2.0. made 204 in the Accord iirc although I imagine a slight bump for this car. They specifically claimed it would not be as hardcore as the Type R. Think something to fill the void of the old V6 Accord coupe. I would expect something "sporty", but not necessarily a "sport car". Can't imagine it being a Miata competitor in any way.
A Plug-In Hybrid "AWD" would be nice... still wouldn't be as good as the Subaru AWD and their Symmetrical AWD but we have yet to see with the Hybrid/Electric system in the Front or Rear Wheels would be like... The new Prelude is gonna be dope!! 😁

Discipline to keep working out, discipline to be consistent in your business etc. alphas also have discipline but they don’t have it on the same level as a sigma; sigmas have a type of discipline that almost borders on ocd if not properly directed.

No chance of a manual transmission if hybrid as promised. Honda's Hybrids are effectively direct drive electric single speed with the final drive geared in such a way that the engine can assist at highway speeds. Weird that CVT or Manual would even be mentioned in the video.

The big problem I see is weight the accord hybrid is almost as heavy as a v8 mustang gt. Way too much weight for the power so the would need to get the prelude to weigh less than the type r to give it the sportiness I would want.
I do wish these smaller "fun cars" were cheaper.

Manual v6 no turbo no useless electronics its gotta be fast and dependable
No chance of a manual transmission if hybrid as promised. Honda's Hybrids are effectively direct drive electric single speed with the final drive geared in such a way that the engine can assist at highway speeds. Weird that CVT or Manual would even be mentioned in the video.

Well talking about transmission, at first they said it would be a manual and then went 180 and said they would no longer think about it and would give it a cvt 😆

It uses belts not gears which wear out incredibly quickly. Especially if driven hard
I put 162k on a cvt
Can you imagine how many sales a company would make if they decided to just budget their new fun car at around 20k
I don't think you can make a fun car at that budget anymore, at least not one marketed as an enthusiast car. Base model civics and imprezas cost more than that, And on the other side of things you have stuff like the Mitsubishi mirage ralliart which is not sporty at all.
Bring the accord coupe back and put the awd v6 setup from the tlx type s 💯

I'd like to see Honda use the 4wheel steering they introduced with the old prelude.
This new Prelude better have a very good MPG rate if it wants to go against the Toyota 86 for "$35k"!!!
The only downside of the Toyota 86 right bow is the boxer engine but there's rumors the next one will have an inline 4!!!

Honda - BUILD IT
The big problem I see is weight the accord hybrid is almost as heavy as a v8 mustang gt. Way too much weight for the power so the would need to get the prelude to weigh less than the type r to give it the sportiness I would want.
