Thanks for posting. Have just helped my daughter buy a similar Vectra and have never come across this type of filter before. Your post has really helped. Also did not know the car had a Torx sump plug- you saved me another trip to the parts supplier!!
I had a filter disintegrate on mine inside the chaimber. I had to be a bit rough getting it out. and i accidentally took the spring loaded drain valve cover off as well. Didn't see the issue at first and the oil pressure light stayed on, an 'expert mechanic' told me the "oil pump had gone" & that i should "scrap it" and the vectra enthusiasts club were less help than that. Eventually i just went MacGyver on it and blocked the drain valve myself using a cylinder of rubber which the filter presses down on when the cap is screwed on. Running just fine now and the moral of the story is dont leave it too long before replacing the filter & be very careful & gentle if it break apart.
just bought 2008 vectra c thought id service it as it was missing some service history. watched the video done everything but as i took of the filter it crumbled inside and bits went down the hole. some parts of the filter is still stuck in there. any suggestions
Hi James, I can’t imaginr what to do it that situation other than flush out the engine with some engine flush or something. Never been in that situation. If it was paper bits from the filter then I wouldn’t be too worried as they would most likely disintegrate when the engine is hot. Good luck mate
@@TimWilliamsHD I dont really agree,paper bits can block oil pump easy,and than there is no enough oil in the engine...started overheating and is gone...buy new vectra 😁

+John Mead sorry mate, not my car and do not have access to it, but its normally the plug that goes into the sump..
Thank You for good video. Does sump plug have (usually copper) washer/seal on it that need to be replaced?
In most cases yes and for the price of a washer, i'd change it. Normally the sump plug bolt comes with a washer so i'd look to get it replaced.
Hi. Does anybody know the exact oil code from the handbook that it says for a vectra 1.8 2008?
I've just had the old paper filter break up on me and and now I'm stuck with the plastic end at the bottom of the housing... What do I do?! Any tips?
pliers maybe or just use a hook tool to pop it up? Sorry, never happened to me so don't know whats best...
