  • Another quick video on the Vectra C. An oil and filter change is a really simple job on this engine if you are thinking about doing it yourself.
Not much else to say on this other than I hope it is useful to you.
Many thanks to all the comments and new subscribers! I really appreciate it. It may only be small number compared to some channels but to me its incredible that over 300 of you are interested in what I do so I am over the moon with that! :)

Thnaks for the video. Great to have just bird song in the background and not crappy music. Info on torques and oil a real bonus.

Very useful video, especially the bit about how to get rid of the 'insp' on the dashboard display. Been wondering how to get rid of that for years.
    Thanks a lot

@@armenehtibaryan1344 90528145 is the part number for sump plug O ring. Gearbox doesn’t have a drain plug. You have to drop the diff cover to drain oil. Unless you have an F23 / F40 gearbox

Perfect video. Clear and concise. I have a question. I've just had a lot of work done on a newly acquired 1.8 Vectra 2007. Part of the work involved an oil change and I supplied the oil Dexos 2 5w30 GM/Saab and a filter from VX. Since the change, the engine is more audible and there is a diesel type rattle for a second on cold start. Only since the service. Engine sat quiet and started quiet prior. Any ideas?

Thanks for the comment buddy! Much appreciated 😊 difficult to say about the noise but it’s possible that it has been run on a different viscosity of oil for most of its life and the oil you have put in ( granted it is the correct oil) has upset the internals. Or there is a possibility that there is debris in the engine that has moved. If you have the VVT engine the solenoids can cause a tapping sound. They have a gauze on the end of them that benefits from periodically cleaning.after that the camshaft pulleys can be prone to making a knocking noise. If it is the cam pulleys they noise will get worse and it is a proper knocking noise they make.

@@AMSVauxhall Thanks Andy, I've been reading about the solenoids but just confused about the coincidence with the oil change and then them playing up. I wonder if it'd be worth me dumping the oil and trying Magnatec. I got my old Omega 2.2 auto up to 243,000 miles using 10w40 Magnatec in that. Still ran sweet but sadly had to scrap due to amount of welding and other stuff. I appreciate the quick reply.

@@deanf9412 if it was my car I would drop the sump and clean it out along with the pickup pipe. I’d also clean the solenoid gauzes and then add quality oil and filter run it for 500 miles and then add an oil flush before replacing oil and filter again.

@@AMSVauxhall Cheers Andy. Wallet is empty after all the work so I'll try cleaning the solenoids and possibly removing their filters as suggested elsewhere for now. Dropping the sump is a garage job for me :)

Looks like the oil is the last of its troubles. Rocker cover gasket looks likes it's been leaking and is that the local river water in the coolant tank lol. Great video car needs some help. Why you'd wait for the car to tell you to service it I'd never know. I bet it rattles a golden when it starts. 5k max on them engines. No dig at you btw
