    Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video! It’s cost me £55 quid and a couple of hours work, instead of around 200 quid to fully service my car for life now! 👍

    Done my first ever service yesterday after watching this, thanks!
    Sump nut rounded off and garage didn’t want to crack it in case the sump itself cracked so had to use an oil extractor to get it out through the dip stick hole. Not ideal but it’s done.
    Felt like a proper bloke 😁

    Thanks for this. I done a full service on my gf's Insignia B (first time I've changed a fuel filter), but she jumped in it straight after and engine started for a second or 2 then cut out! She looked at me with a look that would melt iron, I think she loves her car more than me. Anyway, this video saved me, turned the ignition on and off about 15 times without the engine, and eventually started hearing some strange noises from back near the fuel filter, bit like the noise when someone is milking a cow into a bucket! After that car started up but stuttered a bit. Took it for a spin and after that it has been fine! So thanks for that, I appreciate it.

    I always give this a quick watch before I service my insignia. One tip I have found is the large Toblerone tube makes a great drain for the filter housing with one side cut along the length to make a channel. Done my for the last time as it's now up for sale to be replaced by a camper.

    This is really great. I've had a 2011 Saab Z19DTR which is really similar for three years now and only with the last service did I decide to do all by myself. Took a lot of digging on the internet to find out where everything was, but once you do it, it's really simple the next time. This kind of videos really help build up confidence to do this kind of stuff yourself, highly appreciate it. And once you know how to do it, you just wish you'd done it sooner because it's a huge saving not having to take your car done by someone else.

    I'm about to start servicing. I doubt the garage I was using was doing it all. I always had to chase them to stamp the book, and it was always main service - never interim. So it was always more expensive. I did disks and brake shoes all round the car last week, now following this to fully service this coming Monday along with drop links and rear nearside spring in prep for MOT. (I have a 2014 Insignia, had it 10 years). Thanks lot mate, even at 5 years - this is gold! Subbed 🙂

      I do have a video replacing the rear springs for the insignia.
      It's a shame I don't have cars to work on now hence no videos. Saying that tho I am about to fit new coil overs on my bmw 420 so I might video that.
      If you have any issues or get stuck drop a comment on this video hopefully I see it pretty quickly
      Thanks dave

    Another good tip is to take the sump off and wash it in a parts washer, thats what my tutor in college done when he seviced his own cars.

    • @Thediycarchannel
      @Thediycarchannel  Месяц назад

      Yes you could but that could invoke a lot more work on some vehicles. I think that is over kill myself if you do regular oil changes there's no need to remove the sump. But if you wanted to there's no harm in doing so

    2015 vx line sri 2l diesel filter housing is shocking, the filter wouldn't budge and has resulted in a snapped fuel line as it spun off its bracket, just a heads up for others doing this model, ive a head ache from diesel fumes and now a head ache of sourcing the housing to go with it 😂 decent video mate all else was a breeze, thank you.

    Just finished all but the oil (which I do every 10k miles). Handy tip I came across - put a snug fitting wooden block between the car body and the filter body. This stops the fuel filter body from moving if the filter has been tightened to more than 25Nm (as mine had been!).

      @@Thediycarchannel, hi mate, could you please fully service my 2011 Insignia Sri? Plus its giving me a couple problems like less power when going up hills even with the peddle fully down and that's only in 3rd gear. Finally when taking it to 45 - 50 mph it feels like it's gonna stall and I feel a hesitation coming from the front of car.
      I don't know nothing about cars and I don't wanna get ripped off by any garages. I'd be so happy if you could fix these problems for us.

    this might help other insignia owners, i had a message come up on my dash reading " Service Vehicle soon" took it to garage and it turned out in my case to be numer one glow plug at fault, replaced and all is well this job was expensive £94 for glow plug plus labour and vat, seen clips on utube on how to do this, but be warned if you break glow plug in cylinder you have got big problems, i.e cylinder head has to come off, garage cost to do this iam told up to £2000.

    Is it easy enough to do fuel filter without jacking the car? I have no axle stands and just the standard scissor jack the car came with, auppose could use that, wary tho with no axle stand. Great video btw. Always someone who will need it.

    • @Thediycarchannel
      @Thediycarchannel  7 месяцев назад +1

      You would need to jack it up for clearance really unless you have a high curb near by you can park on.
      Use your scissor jack but put somthing under the car incase it falls also the wheels will. Still be on

    • @Thediycarchannel
      @Thediycarchannel  Год назад +1

      Thank you.
      If you buy a good brand like Bosch or mann etc they normally come with seals.
      On brand new cars a flush would be fine. But on a car that's done miles I wouldn't personally. It may loosen stuff up and block the small oil feed holes etc. Just regular oil changes will be fine. And if you start to do it yourself it saves a lot of money too

    • @Thediycarchannel
      @Thediycarchannel  2 месяца назад

      No such thing as a daft question.
      Your meant to use a torque wrench but I do it hand tight then probably about 1/4 of a turn it don't need to be mega tight.

    Great video. I have carried out my service on my 2016 vauxhall insignia 1.6ltr diesel and seems to have gone well. Only concern now is the engine management light is on. Looking through the Haynes Manual I have and online, is the engine management light on as there is too much oxygen in the system that the sensors are picking up and will clear/remove the engine management light if you continue to drive the car?
