Then we discovered component stereo for the house and could record our own cassettes that we listened to while out 4 wheelin' or climbing hills. Damn that was fun and expensive. Then that foul condition known as marriage set in and ruined everything. And sadly the 1st thing to go was yer friends. John said that when they formed the Golliwogs in high school Suzy Q was the first song they learned together. So they decided to make it their first single because they had been playing it longer than anything else.
You should check out "Down on the Corner", "Long As I Can See the Light",and "Looking Out My Backdoor". Really, any CCR song you come across is going to be great.

I worked depot maintenance on F15 Eagles at Robins AFB. We used to play LOUD rock music in the hangar. Our Division manager was a woman whose first name was Sue. 1969: had just finished watching Neil Armstrong step onto the Moon with Walter Cronkite providing the play-by-play. Drove 20 miles to the nearest Swenson's Ice Cream Parlor in Van Nuys, CA with my sister listening to this album. Susie Q alway evokes the memories of this exciting time.
Their Woodstock performance of "I put a spell on you" is also awesome. Cool seeing them live.
How about some Buddy Guy doing “Whiskey for Sale”.
We danced to this song a lot in the clubs when I was stationed in S. Korea in 1969.
Favorite all time song by them.
