Michael had 1 weakness. No scottie pippen he wouldnt have won 6 undefeated appearances in the finals he would've lost 1 and messed his perfect record up bcz without scottie he would've lost to Utah the 2nd time.
Raw honesty 🤣😂 Hakeem wouldn't have won if MJ didn't retire, but he was one of the best players I've ever seen. Took it for granted at the time, but between him, Stockton and Malone, Ewing, Chuck and Reggie ... Nothing was better than the Eastern Conference playoffs in the 90s!!

I never used to feel anything about Lebron really, but as I've watched him, and evolved, I've learned to appreciate just how great he is. That being said, I was privileged to grow up in the Magic/Bird era, which overlapped Jordan. Listen, I'm a Celtics fan. Lifelong. I got nothing in this fight. To this day I've never seen anything like Jordan. It has nothing to do with Lebron. Lebrons an all time great. Anyone who is my age who watched Jordan his entire career knows exactly what I'm talking about. There is nothing like him. Literally, nothing in my lifetime. Ok, that's all...
I’ll say this: if it wasn’t for the Bad Boy Pistons, Michael would not be considered the G.O.A.T. Hulk Hogan beat the hated Iron Sheik and Jordan eventually slayed the hated Pistons. The hero overcoming and defeating the villain is what makes greatness. LeBron never did that. Not once. Neither did Kobe. Neither did Wilt. Neither did Russell. Neither did Kareem. In a way, Magic and Bird both did to each other and that is why they are living legends to this very day. They may both not have the insane stats the rest do, but their rivalry made them great and greater than they would have been without it.
Nash's take really struck me, Jordan used to cause fear in the entire league because literally if you did anything to motivate MJ it was over. Never felt that way about LeBron, never feared him
Pretty hard to ‘fear’ a guy who can’t shoot free throws and a team can leave you open at the 3pt line as a strategy. Also, hard to fear a guy who wears shorts with a suit jacket carrying a man bag…..
That to me is the difference. Jordan didn’t want to beat you. He wanted to humiliate you. He wanted to make sure people would chuckle if your name ever got brought up. LeBron wants to win but he still wants to be friends at the end of the day. Jordan wants you humiliated and laughed at.
LeBron not even top7. Top7 are killers. Larry Bird is killer, MJ is killer, Magic is killer. LeBron is for playground. Even the championship with Cavaliers, the main one I respect, it is other guy that showed valuable support in the finals.
There's always room in second. let's put MJ in the safe spot, why argue when almost all the greatest are saying MJ is the goat the debate should be, who's in second?. All of that said, we can all put who's in second in our opinion.
It's never just one thing. Agreed, it's not just the six rings. Btw, the way guys form super teams today and "take their talents" someplace else every other year, I'm not impressed when a guy has rings. For example, Kevin Durant? Sorry, those two rings in Golden State don't impress me. Great, you went to a 73 win team and won? Must have been really tough! LeBron hoping teams any time he feels like his teammates are no longer good? Imagine if MJ went to the Celtics. And when Larry's back got bad, went to the Pistons. Then back to the Bulls. He'd have 12 rings if he wanted.
i am 48 year old and i watched MJ play through his entire career...and this is what i feel as far as MJ and lebron...i remeber as a fan watching MJ and knowing that i was about to lose especially in the play offs when ntheres only 5 seconds left...the whole world knew who was about to get the ball...and yet you couldnrt stop it..that feeling..i have never felt with lebron..i actually feared MJ..not with lebron..i think theres really no comparison

I'm a huge Jordan fan and personally my eyes tell me that Jordan is the Goat. I don't look at stats or rings its really because of his play on offense and defense but also the impact he has on the game.
Your eyes can deceive you. Numbers don’t lie. Lebron made more points in way less shot attempts than Jordan! So he’s a more efficient scorer, he gets way more rebounds, and way more assists. He involves his whole team and Jordan tries to do it all himself. Pippen carried him his whole career and ended up with more rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks than Jordan in every Finals run. Lebron leads in all stats in every Finals run on his own squad. And several times he’s lead in every stat on both squads. There’s no question Lebron is better! Period!
Lebron has longer career than MJ. MJ played only 13 or 14 seasons only. Lebron is playing his 19 season i think. Rules changed alot. MJ is the goat of basketball man. There a lot of 90’s bulls games in youtube. Watch and compare to todays nba. MJ is the goat
There was legitimate fear when Mike stepped on the court, every single night. The streets were deserted by 5pm PST when Mike played on TNT. Guys were leaving work early to go watch Mike score over 40 points on any given night. The reverence was at biblically epic levels. Tears were literally shed both when Mike retired the first time and finally after his last bucket as a Chicago Bulls player; the crossover on Bryon Russell, and who would forget Elo throwing up his arms in aghast frustration and futility, justifiably so, when Mike nailed the final bucket, winning his 6th and final championship. @@ssfouryou They totally do not know the fear that MJ struck in his opponents; they were defeated before Mike made a move or took a shot. They'll be on the court paralyzed and spectating in awe as if they were not NBA players. MJs opponents admit to it. I've never heard an opponent of LeBron express fear of him on the court.
MJ was better, regardless of stats. You can see it just by comparing the two on the court. MJ's movements were so clean and quick compared to all the other big men. He was the perfect storm of size, skill, agility, and leadership. When you're 7 feet tall, you're lumbering and a little awkward. I think 6'5 - 6'6 is perfect for Mike and the type of player he was. Like those fundamentals and his movements put him above pro league. He was a damn art form.
I experienced my youth in the nineties. Most of that decade, he was in the paper almost every day, on tv, on tv commercials. Everybody knew MJ. You either loved him or hated him. But he and the bulls took over the league. They were invicible because of him. He was a role model worldwide. And the nba league took off because of him as well as Nike. The nba playoffs were always streamed on national tv with a high rating in my country, now that doesn't happen anymore.

There's a story about Jordan playing when he was still at NC. I guess this was like MJ second year and the players were talking about just how good he was even at that time. So, every practice the guys would look on the schedule to see who they had to guard the next day. One day, one of the guys on the team looked at the schedule and saw that he would have to guard MJ, the next day at practice. His teammate said his friend had this sick look on his face all the way home. And as soon as they got back to the dorm, he threw-up all over the place! Lol, now that's FEAR!

This is such an artificial debate created by the media to get attention as there is a drop in NBA viewers. LeBron is a fantastic player, but he's not even better than Kobe, how can he compare to MJ? I only started watching the NBA because of MJ (in 1989) and since he retired the second time (1998) I've been losing interest year after year. Bball isn't as tough as it was in the 80's and 90's with great defenders and legendary players not as plentiful as they once were. Overprotecting players with new rules created a boring game with weak defenses and 3-point shots. I feel sorry for the new generation that hasn't seen real bball.
Michael Jordan is the no.1 and the greatest player of all time, no question about that. No.2 for me is Kobe Bryant amd no.3 is Lebron James. Michel Jotdan still the G.O.A.T. of the history of NBA.
Load management is something MJ would have been insulted by if it was ever proposed to him. His mindset of giving his absolute best every time he was on the court is unmatched. He was willing to put his physical and mental sanity in order to win it all, I think Kobe is the only one to share that insane drive. Also MJ never shied away from taking over when a game was on the line, he never disappeared when his number was called upon and when he passed the ball in clutch situations it's because he had carried the team on his shoulders and he recognized that taking that last deciding shot wasn't the best basketball play.
In th '86 1st RD vs BOS, Many remember Jordan's 63 pt game. The very next game, He got outscored by 3 "studs" in an 18 pt season-ending home loss. J Paxson (23 Pts), D Corzine (22 Pts), & D Ainge (20 Pts). In 1988 ECSF, Let's see how Jordan did. G3: scores 3 4th Q points in a 22 point home loss G4: scores 8 4th Q points in a 19 point home loss G5: scores 5 4th Q points in a 7 point loss In 1989, Jordan's Bulls went up 2-1 in the ECF, but then lost 3 in a row. Let's see how he did in those games: G4: Scored 11 points over last 3 quarters in a 6 point home loss G5: Scored 1 4th Q point in a crucial 9 point loss G6: Scored 6 4th Q points in 9 point season ending home loss. In the last 5 minutes, Jordan scored just 2 points, and didn't take a shot in the last 3 minutes of the game. Result? Bulls go home. Jordan made just 9 shots COMBINED over Game 4 and Game 5 (both losses) In the '90 ECF. The Bulls lost all 4 games on the road. Let's see how Jordan did in those games: G1: 3 4th Q points (lost by 9) G2: 5 4th Q points (lost by 9) G5: 5 4th Q points (lost by 14) G7: 9 4th Q points on 10 shots (lost by 19). Jerry West said it the best. There have been some copycats since MJ retired but no one will ever match the greatness of MJ
He also had ridiculous stamina and motor, especially in the 80s. He was the most complete athlete in NBA history if you add everything up. He was also very strong and durable.
Jordan is #1 and the most electrifying player ever. It’s offensive to compare anyone to MJ. No matter what MJ did people never stop doubting him and always waiting to see MJ fail throughout his entire career. MJ is strong and people even today hate that and smile in his face out of envy. Every player that has lost to MJ knows there’s nothing they can do.

All I know is I have 10s of old VHS tapes with recorded footage of games Jordan played in, as well as dunk contests and such. Gave me something to look forward to as a child and made me want to excel also. MJ is Legend.
When everything depends on it, do you pick a “killer” or a “facilitator?” I’ll take the killer every time. The only two people who would disagree are Lebron and Isiah Thomas, who’s been butthurt since he led the Pistons dishonourable walkoff in 1991.
When Jordan could tell you what he was going to do to someone or tell that person what he was going to do to them …and did it?! That was beyond amazing. I’ve just never seen shine before, during or after that can do what he did.
if you really wanna know what truly separates Jordan from LeBron. It's their mentality and killer instinct. Jordan never had a finals meltdown like LeBron in 2011. I've seen LeBron quit not only on his teammates but himself plenty of times. He doesn't hustle back on defense and he constantly take plays off. I've honestly never was a fan and never will be a fan of LeBron the basketball player.
All of this. He’s been doing that passive approach when losing, quitting etc at times when things aren’t going well. Then you see him stat pad in garbage time to fool his fans into thinking he played “all out” the entire game when he didn’t. Boxscore watchers. His fans see it but then they blame it on his teammates. The “why would he continue to play for these scrubs” excuse. It’s why he gets a lot of criticism by other fans bc of this. Was never a fan of his either, don’t like his game or his obsession of having to have the narrative in his favor at all times. The “look at my stats, give me respect” can easily rub people the wrong way.
@@jacoblee5796 this makes no sense because he had a meltdown in his first finals. Got outscored and outplayed by Jason Terry who was a role player and not a Hall of Famer. There's no coming back from that.
This is not even a discussion. MJ is by far the best player to ever lace up a pair basketball shoes. His fierce, unwavering hatred of losing and his love of basketball propelled and inspired him to another level. He was the best defensive and best offensive player at the same time.
A lot of teams confessed that they knew they couldn't stop MJ and their strategies were to stop the four other guys and let mj score 50, in some of the games when he did score 40, 50 points all the other guys had career low, so it worked, but the other team still loss

I always laugh when people say MJ 🐐 didn’t pass the ball as much as LeBron. Like, dude, you probably don’t know the “playmaker MJ” who had 10 triple doubles in 11 games in 1989! He clearly was capable of doing the same thing as LeBron has been doing today, PLUS his defense. So I don’t wanna hear this narrative over and over again. (Ps. I was born in 2000 but I’ve just watched a lot of MJ games, so I know)
And thats while he was serving a stint as point guard instead of shooting guard. If you asked him to, he'd put up the Westbrook numbers and then some, except without any of the Westbrick weaknesses.
Not to mention when he got those 10 triple doubles the back story before it was fire because In 1989, Bulls head coach Doug Collins decided to switch Michael Jordan to play PG after MJ expressed frustration at the team's offense. Over the final 24 games of that season, Jordan averaged 30.4 PPG, 9.2 RPG, and 10.7 APG, including a stretch where he had 10 triple doubles in 11 games. So although in a 11 game stretch he had a triple doubles in 10 of those games stretch he almost had an averaged of a triple double in 24 games which is fucking insane
*Jordan was a GENIUS that only happens a couple times in human history. We have yet to see anyone else in his level, and maybe never will. Might actually take 100+ more years IF we do.*
The only other 2 guys who had that was Babe Ruth and Ali. Babe Ruth could go drinking all night and, with no sleep, hit a couple homers. Ali already knew how he was gonna subdue his opponent before it happened. NOW Ohtani might be that next guy, if he helps his team win a championship is to be seen.
4:45 funny how MJ averaged 1 assist less than Magic in the finals (11.4 vs 12.4). He did what his team needed. He had multiple games with 12-15 rebounds because Rodman had some issues. He covered both offensive and defensive load when Pip was injured. As what MJ said, he was the utility man of the team, he did what his team needed him to do. Let's not forget when he dropped multiple triple doubles when he was made pg... He can pass but he's in charge of scoring. Why pass when you're arguably the best perimeter shooter in the game?
People forget to mention these things. He did what he was asked. Lebron does only what he can do. Jordan can do everything Lebron can and then some but Lebron can't do everything Jordan could.
How can anyone watching all these NBA legends say all of this about Jordan and someone still says LeBron is better makes no sense. No one has more credibility than actually NBA players that played with or against both.

I recently rewatched the 2011 nba finals heat vs Mavs. Heat were leading by 15 pts or so with very little time left. Mavs went on an absurd run to win the game, take the wind out of the heats sails and eventually win the series. One thing stood out for me, was the lack of Leadership on the part of LeBron. Everytime down the floor it was him or a teammate shooting brick after brick. No way that sort of thing would happen to peak MJ, especially in the NBA finals. I will give credit to Bron for winning vs an atg warriors team in 2016 but that's it.
Skills, athletics, rule changes, different eras none of that matters. What matters is just how much of a competitor MJ is. Lebron could never match Mike’s Will to win at all costs. A huge part of it was Lebron was so gifted and so big and strong at a very young age. He always had to play a bit softer and not bully kids. That crept into his mentality on the court. If Lebron had Jordan’s killer instinct he would be by far the greatest. But he doesn’t and for that reason even if Lebron breaks every record it’s still MJ!!!
Nash nailed it. MJ put the fear in people’s hearts, he was a killer and he made sure you knew it. Nobody ever lost a night’s sleep before a game with Lebron.

The league recently toughen up the rules. You can’t hook arms and shoot, can’t flop, can’t really run plays for free throws. That has hurt a lot of players, James Harden being the best example. The rules were more tougher in the 90s than the adjustment now, still. No one can put up numbers jordan did with easier rules now. What does that say?
Exactly what I’ve been saying. Jordan played in a league where the paint was guarded like the White House lol. Lebron is a menace but he’s played in a league that allows free lanes to the basket multiple times a game. Still a great player though and a top 10 player of all time (Probably top 5 but not imo personally) Btw 4 or so months later and it seems like the rules have softened up again😔
Every team in the league contributed a chunk of MJs salary because they owed him for filling the seats. Legit, the other teams paid him to play against them.
I think what's interesting is that Durant who is still playing / said MJ was the best. Players who are as great as Durant don't normally say someone else is better. .
The aspect of MJ’s game that has always amazed me the most is the fact that I have rarely ever seen him call for or utilize the screen to help him get to the rack ANY WAY he could/or wanted to!! He had Horace Grant, Rodman, Pippen, and a few other large bodies to work around too!! Luc Longley, Ron Harper, and Toni were all better than average players as well, but MJ IS THE GOAT!!
After thinking about it, I don’t think Jordan or many of the past greats would be able to thrive if they played today, because they would get bored of it too quickly. The game today isn’t fun to watch at all.
Jordan would actually dominate much more with todays weak rules. Not being able to get physical whole guarding him will give him more opportunities to score.
Let that sink in for people who don't realize how good MJ was. He was the best offensive and best defensive player in the league at the same time. Nobody could shut down his offense but he could shut down the offense of any elite players in his time. He was fierce on both sides of the court, a complete player. His skill level is unmatched to this day. When people excel at other sports they say, so and so is the MJ of volley ball or the MJ of golf; that is how good MJ was. He is the golden standard of excellence in all sports.
his huge hands made him really , really special. You just don't see those palming the ball moves in the air these days. Those moves he did because of his hand size made him a human highlight reel.
LeBron is one of the greatest. But to me he's not greater than MJ. Why? MJ didn't look for excuses when he failed. He didn't recruit other stars to join nor bandwaggons to increase the chances to win a chip sooner. He was fearless and only got better when being challenged and taunted.

@@sahasrara3087 Tell me one player he recruited? Pippen, Armstrong, Grant were drafted by the bulls. They traded one of the best rebounders Oakley for Cartwright who was a rotation player at best. And that just because Grant left the Bulls. So, please don't tell me Jordan recruited superstars.
I've been blessed to see Kareem, Magic, Dr J, Bird, Jordan, O'Neil and now LeBron.. I can tell you that it was a whole different basketball back in 80's and 90's then today.. I doubt Lebron lasting 10 seasons back in the day.. Defenders would have ruff up James and would have him crying..
This is crazy how people say that Jordan would adapt to these era but lebron wouldn’t be able to take the punishment from the 90s and the skinny defenders back then. Man if Jordan was running the court in these era i bet he wouldn’t have the same number of all-defensive teams he has right now. That man be too tired to carry an offense plus be a great defender. Plus with all the great stars and teams, he doesn’t win 6 chips.
Have you ever watched MJ play basketball?? The man was on a different level than anyone else. You cant rate Jordan on a scale because he is above the scale..
McGrady is laughing at Pippen because Pippen made some comments about Jordan not being better than LeBron and he was scolded for that and now he was trying to make another statement saying that Jordan much better. Pippen is one of my favorite players but he lost his basketball Credit coming at Mike
Seeing KD in the thumbnail reminded me how LeBron didn't wanna guard him in that Final minute of a critical Game 3 in the 2018 Finals. Dude rather stay on 6'3 Steph Curry and pass the 2nd Best player of the 2010s decade to Bench player Rodney Hood.
Tbf KD was more or less equal to LBH between 2014 to 2016. Since 2017 he has been better than LBJ. Also one could argue after the 2018 season Harden has also now surpassed LBJ. I mean Kawhi, Harden, KD, Curry, & Giannis are probably the top 5 players. Then the next 5 AD, Jokic, Kyrie, LBJ, & Damian. Although Luka, Booker, Porzingis, Zion are going to be the next ones coming up. After LBJ, Melo, Westbrick, Rondo, etc. are out.
Jordans mentality ALONE destroys all of Lebron's accomplishments. And I know this is going to hurt some people's feelings but LeBron is not even #2, or #3 maybe #4 but that's as close as he will get to Jordan.
When Michael Jordan shot less than 30 or even 20% from 3pt range, it was when he would average 1 or less 3PA. The years he shot 2 or more per game, his 3pt average was 30, 40 or even 50. Jordan simply didnt shoot that many 3s, but when he chose to, he was above average at it! Just an interesting way of looking at his apparent “flaw”
@@jacoblee5796 just stop! If he wanted to he could. He didn't train it or use it much. Record for Most 3 points in a half was held by Jordan for 18 years.
@@Sf75178 exactly. Back in the 80s only true long range shooters were attempting 3s on a recurring basis. It was simply not the style of game back then. The whole team averaged less than 10pts decades ago. It steadily increased and became ridiculous since 2015....
@@jacoblee5796 He also openly said that he wasn't putting effort into 3pt shot as it would take away his greatest advantages back then. If you think that a perfectionist like MJ wouldn't raise his 3pt% to solid league levels if it was needed to win like it is now - come on. Just look how he perfected his post game and fadeaway towards his later years once he realized he needed more weapons as he got older and can't constantly attack the basket anymore. MJ was an absolute basketball savant and there is no doubt in my mind he still is the best player I've watched, and I've been followinng NBA for a long time now.
It's a silly narrative created just to give LeBron something over MJ. The fact is Jordan was a phenomenal passer, he was just that good that more often than not it was better if he didnt pass the ball. John Starks 3.6, Steve Kerr 1.8, Reggie Miller 3.0, Mitch Richmond 3.5, Latrell Sprewell 4.0, Clyde Drexler 5.6, Michael Jordan 5.3 assists per game. Jordan had a weak passing game, not for his time he didn't LeBron at 7.4 well isn't a knock on LBJ his tendency to pass instead of shoot in clutch moments?
MJ averaged like what 5-6 assists in his Career. And when asked to be a point guard he averaged 10+ assists. MJ could have been the best point scoring guard if he played that position his whole career. But, I wonder if his team won more or less rings.
Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant gave ALL of themselves on every single court of every single game. That's what made the two of them the greatest ballers the game has ever seen.🏀
I don't have to watch the video to answer this question again because I watched Jordan when he first came in the league to his second retirement and I also watched James. There is NO comparison. Jordan hands down is the best of the two. if he had a weakness (or somebody said he had one) he would show you the next game that you were TOTALLY mistaken. If you came at Jordan and his team, he was coming after yours and it was NEVER a back down with him, it was NEVER a lack of effort with him, it was NEVER having a teammate pushing him on the court to play some damn defense, and it was NEVER him to give up on his team, he'd just push their asses harder. Sorry, but you cannot say the same about James. Just the calibre of Jordan's play overall eclipses James by light years. Jordan was a force that transcended time and space of the game. He was an untouchable in an era whereby physicality was allowed and STILL dropped 60 whenever he wanted

Never felt that way about LeBron, never feared him
I felt that bro. Crazy

I only started watching the NBA because of MJ (in 1989) and since he retired the second time (1998) I've been losing interest year after year. Bball isn't as tough as it was in the 80's and 90's with great defenders and legendary players not as plentiful as they once were. It was so much fun to watch MJ’s games!

Jordan averaged 11 assists per game in 1991 finals.
MJ could have averaged a triple double for a season if he WANTED to do that.
Alot of players are capable of doing things, but they don't all consistently do them do they?
Not to mention when he got those 10 triple doubles the back story before it was fire because In 1989, Bulls head coach Doug Collins decided to switch Michael Jordan to play PG after MJ expressed frustration at the team's offense. Over the final 24 games of that season, Jordan averaged 30.4 PPG, 9.2 RPG, and 10.7 APG, including a stretch where he had 10 triple doubles in 11 games. So although in a 11 game stretch he had a triple doubles in 10 of those games stretch he almost had an averaged of a triple double in 24 games which is fucking insane

I think SAVANT would be a better description for MJ. But I don’t disagree. He absolutely was a GENIUS.
“Everybody wants to play like Mike!” That’s it. Case close! Period!
