After having upgraded a M4 and fiddled with the grip screw, the trick you used with the screws already in the grip before screwing, made me look like a fool. I am definitely going to steal that trick from you

Great video. Bought my scar second hand and found a detached piece. Disassembled and reassembled it completely with your helpful video. Seems like my empty mag detection piece broke. Does it do something, and is it necessary to replace it?
Thanks 😊 Is it one of the small levers that sit under the front of the gearbox and protrude into the magwell? The gun will function fine if that’s broken, it won’t cause any damage, just the empty mag detection will not longer work correctly.
Great video Sam, it finally gave me the confidence to do a disassembly (upper only). Took me 45 minutes to disassemble, fit a factory first short bolt handle and change sides and reassemble! Lot of work for just a bolt handle but all went smoothly! Shame I didnt have any sorbothane but next time when I fit the R Hop perhaps! Does the upgraded Pistonhead and O ring more or less compensate for the FPS drop by adding the sorbothane or will I need to do some fettling?
+Mark Walter Glad it's been helpful :) When you fit the Sorbo Pad, be sure to very carefully check the angle of engagement. Have a chat to Airlab - we've come up with the perfect solution so they now sell modified Lonex Recoil Cylinder heads that perfectly correct the AoE with their Sorbo pad. You'll lose a bit of cylinder volume with the Sorbo but you can regain that by either installing a non-ported cylinder or using a Bearing Spring Guide to pre-compress the spring slightly. Or both :)
Hey your videos are a great help. I'm trying to figure out the least messy way and I'm considering just using the same spade connector method... Would you be able to give some tips on how you wire the BTC from the TM Scar L gearbox to the battery compartment?
Thanks you :) Let me know if there are any videos you'd particularly like to see. I generally cut off the connectors and solder the wires directly. There's a decent amount of wire in the stock so you can pull it through a bit and just work on the gearbox with the stock still attached, should you need to open it up after the upgrades.
besides a btc spectre mosfet what other drop in ones work the the scar/m4? would a gate titan work? looking for one that will replace the trigger contacts Thanks
I suspect it'll be the Bevel/Pinion interaction, that's the hardest thing to get right. I've been meaning to do a shimming video, I'll see if I can sort that out today for you :)
Nice video. I'm glad I don't have to do all of this on my AK replica. So much easier...This is quite demanding and time consuming,but very well worth it. This TM SCAR-L looks very nice. Is it possible to run this replica on 400FPS without doing damage? And what ROF is recommended for Recoil replicas?
+Ljudevit Binder With a few preventative measures, it's definitely possible to run it at that level indefinitely. I'd recommend a Sorbothane pad, steel bushings and upgraded gears. I generally try to keep the TM Recoils at about 15rps. That allows them to be very snappy without putting too much strain on the piston. If you have a stronger main spring and recoil spring, you can push it further though.
+Kingdom of Airsoft Aha,OK sorted. I also use Airlab Sorbothane,very well made indeed.So,18:1 SHS would do the trick? No need for Siegetek's on 15rps I guess. It's just,TM seems all plastic and fragile from outside.
+Ljudevit Binder Some parts on some guns are still a little plasticy, but for the most part, the material quality has greatly increased for the Recoils. The internals are very well designed though! The new gearbox shells (all but the first off the production line) are beastly, you'd have a hard time breaking one!
