You should do the test again after updating the 15 pro max, back then there was a update problem that fixed heating, though I’m using a iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it works well too
And thats why i got a Nubia Z50, i get stable 90fps at all time, with 4x antialiasing enabled, cant pkay without it.
All this with balanced mode, if i go turbo mode i will be having 120fps in the next update, finally
To bad there isn't a 144fps since my phone supports it

Mobile phones like apple are not designed for playing games for a long time that's why they don't use their resources for that, if u want a phone that gives u performance and a pretty good cooling system u have to buy gaming phones like rogue phone or sharks

I'm using OnePlus 9rt with custom rom it gives me 90 fps constantly and heating up 38°C. And yes no frame drop i mean during fight it can handle easily but sometimes when enemy come it drops 5 fps.

On the other hand 14 Pro Max has stainless steel body which has higher thermal conductivity than titanium which helps in spreading the heat efficiently which helps processor to stabilize.... 1. The Mobile game will release on future and maybe get heavier than now
2. Mobile Modern need more powerful chipset for stable heavy game, including Emulator game, remember emulator game
3. For long time like 3 or above year later the phone look old but chipset still powerful, even can play emulator game.
I know people don't care about chipset powerful, but you need think twice, what happen if game have more heavier game than now or emulator need strong chipset, that why.
By the way, i'm choose buying Ipad chipset M1/M2/M3 or android gaming(whenever phablet or tablet both same chipset but different screen scale/large) than Iphone series for me.
