Facts to consider while testing: Each phone has a different... 1. PPI density 2. Resolution FHD, 2k, 4k,etc 3. Battery capacity These things affect the results even if some phones are performing better in their specification.
People are dumb, i would say the 2nd point makes the most sense of the 3 to consider, apple comfortably runs at FHD while all others run at QHD so if you were to run the others at FHD you could match or surpass apple (particularly s22 ultra)
Now the simcard tray is gone, they have no excuse not to bump the capacity up to 5,000 mah. They could shrink the motherboard or at least do a triple stacked board design to fit in a thicker or wider battery. It would also be amazing if they adopted the s23's new battery design tech making the batteries denser and powerful without increasing size. You'd probably then expect nearly 20 hours screen on time in addition to the smaller nanometer processes of A17.

Simless only on the US and the rest of the world still come with sim…..all of the phone come with similar motherboard design….actually more compact than ever….with or without the sim…space occupied still similar…since only small part of the opposite board is not used but the other half still occupied…so the size of mobo occupying the space is still similar
@@LeeMooEez the current iPhone 14 design is with the lowest common denominatior in mind, hence why all models have the same layout with the only difference being a plastic spacer where the sim slot would be in the US. I'd imagine it's limited to the US because of having a larger appeal there and/ or a limited carrier rollout of e-sim programmes, however, I'd expect this to be the norm when the iPhone 15 launch comes about. Like I said, they could definitely optimise the space inside for a bigger battery if they went all in because all models, regardless of region, have the same layout and it would be unfair to give the regions without the sim tray a larger battery and different internal design.

Great work!! Samsung improved compared to your previous tests!! Is your s22Ultra on one ui5 beta now or still on one ui4???? and is your GOS on or off??
GOS, or the (Game Optimisation Service), isn't necessary here, because the most stuff he made during that test are none game Apps. And I have Android 13 with one UI 5.0 and of course, it has been optimised over the last time where he made a Battery comparison.
The TG2 SoC from the Pixel 7 Pro must also improve like on the S22 Ultra, with Software updates. You mention that the S22 ultra's Battery efficiency became optimised due to Software optimisation, and that's why he got a little bit more efficient as the last time you made that Comparison. And the pixel 7 Pro just came out, so give him some time, and then make a decent battery comparison. I don't understand why you make battery comparisons just days after the Pixel7Pro release.
Imo this is whishfull thinking. I have never ever experienced any MAJOR better running times after an Update. If it squeezes out maybe 20 more minutes, ok...still won't change anything. Or do you really think that you will get 1h more SoT with an update?

@@andyH_England He's not wrong there, but Camera usage is a part of his test. 1080P and then 4k, any Phone that didn't survive is not his fault, but everyone knows iPhone nailed it, could have gone 15+ hours if Camera was not a part of test.
I don't think that recording a 1 to 2 hour video is a daily for everyone. The iPhone had 50% after 8+ hours and the camera drained it within just 2+hours. I appreciate that you didn't record in 4k at least though. I would say switching between apps is the most usual battery draining thing. So therefore I would say every 30 minutes you could have taken like 3 photos on each phone inbetween what else you were doing.
@@Udayveer_Singh Yeah, it's a suggestion to have another app put in between that wouldn't take extra long to test and is also kinda realistic. Let's say you are at a class and you want to take a picture every 10 minutes of the board, or that you are abroad on a vocation and you snap out of Google maps and take a picture of a building etc. It's the things that you would do outside of your home that drain your battery life the most, like Google maps, social media on mobile data, high brightness, take pictures and videos of stuff, general data usage, and satellite/antenna switching for best signal.
Most impressive Android to me is still the Samsung and surprisingly the new Xiaomi 12S Ultra. Xiaomi phones don't typically do that well in these tests. Gonna be interesting to see how it fares as time passes. Will the 67 watt fast charging start effecting drainage.
Do you realize that the Xiaomi is the youngest company out of all of these manifacturers? Xiaomi 12s Ultra has 68 billion colours, 67w charging, 1440p 120hz, 6.73 inch display, 480hz Touch response rate, and cheap price than others?
It's not because of optimization, it's due to very efficient chip(tsmc made 8+gen1) in 12S ultra and very inefficient chip(Samsung made 8gen1) in S22 ultra
iPhone has great battery life but I can't help shaking the feeling that the screen res (since it's the only real outlier besides the bionic chip) is weighing a bit more heavily on battery drain than people realize. The iPhone would probably still edge out the others, but it won't be as big of a gap in difference if the iPhone was actually QHD res.
Yeah that's exactly what I was saying. No iPhone has a quad HD resolution so of course they have great power efficiency and a long-lasting battery. Probably once iPhones have quite HD resolutions. They'll be on par with the competition until Apple figures out how to optimize quad HD resolution, power efficiency, on a lithium ion battery
The one part not seen here that made any Android phone I've ever used not reach a reviewer's SOT results, was the standby time. With a full charge and throughout a day the Google Play Services are Android's worst enemy. Terrible app optimization along experimental chipsets claiming to be 30, 40 or 50% more efficient and powerful for the sake of the marketing is what disappointed me every single time because those claims were ridiculous and benchmarks are not real proof of real life performance. Anyway, the current 13 Pro Max I'm currently using is the best phone I've ever had. Buttery smoothness is a completely different thing in Apple's view with Android falling way behind and most importantly the battery life is nothing I've ever experienced. 11-12h SOT on a regular is pure insanity. And I'm charging the phone every 2 days. The S22 I came from couldn't give me more than 3h SOT with 3 charges over the course of 2 days.
Iphone 13 pro max has been the battery champion in all previous drain test and now the 14 pro max has taken the baton now as champ in battery drain test.
How long have you had and used pixel 7 pro? Android adaptive battery needs 5+ days of full use to optimize. You should run this test again after using Pixel 7 Pro for a full week daily use.
@@INDNICK hey I don't argue that at all, fast charging has come a fansrically long way but at the same time, would be nice not to need to run for the charger as quick
I think the screen resolution is the driving force behind the iPhone's battery life. If the other phones had smaller screen sizes and resolution this result would be much closer.
I knew the iPhone was gonna win but Apple pushed an update which seemed to help it even more. Hopefully Google can do the same with a software update. I just got the Pixel 7 Pro but I also own the excellent Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
All Phones has a very good battery life. Iphone 14 pro Max is best. But if I compare how much Iphone 14 pro Max 128gb cost where I live with Pixel 7 Pro I will go for Pixel 7 Pro . Iphone 14 pro max 128gb cost around 1.498 EURO or in SEK 16.480 Pixel 7 Pro 128gb cost around 908 EURO or in SEK 9990 The different in cost = 590 euro or in SEK 6490 So over 9 hour screen on time for 908 euro is very good and cheap if you compare with how much Iphone 14 pro max cost.

@@fardel8021 no. I use the 6 Pro daily, and i can say that if You reset it, the battery life will be bad. When You just use it, it will learn to work with You, and it will be even 20-30% longer time.
@Maciej Zawadzki i have the pixel 7 no difference from the first day and a week later, it only optimizes background tasks etc since it can’t optimize the actual app you’re running
this test isn't fair in many ways. pixel is all about AI and how well it understands the user and gets used to that particular user. adaptive battery of the pixel enormously improves the battery life. this phone just came out last week, you should have waited at least two more weeks getting yourself get used to the device. iphone is already on 16.0.3 right? so why couldn't you give pixel some time for the optimization part. another thing i noticed was this is straight up heavy usage and barely 1-5% of the whole users use the phone this way. you should have used more social medias, youtube, Spotify, call etc. things like we use day-to-day for much fairer result (I've nothing against iphones and I'm sure they'd still win. but in this video, we didn't get to see pixel 7 pro's potential tbf). you should have also put iphone 14 pro here just for a reference as it is more similar to pixel 7 pro(cost wise) also, how'd you set the brightness? did you follow your instinct?
Thank you for all the hard work but why not use 1080 since all the phones are pushing more pixels than iphone,, of course its going to last the longest.
there are all these pixel fanboys saying the 7 pro will be better after some optimization, but after seeing the score of the 6 pro i highly doubt there would be any significant improvement in the 7 pro's battery life

Tell me if you can discern the difference between 450 PPI and 500 PPI. Resolution isn’t everything on a display; the type of display, brightness (which dictates its HDR capabilities), colour accuracy/calibration, viewing angles etc. all play an important role. Many tests have already shown that the resolution makes little difference to battery lifetime. You’re not gonna get hours more battery if you switched from 1440p to 1080p. The other phones would still be left behind literally powerless compared to the iPhone.
It is stupid to have higher display above retina as you cannot see the difference at normal viewing. Samsung do it because spec-junkies like you know no better. For the record, tests show the WQHD display makes about 6% difference, but as the S22U has 15% larger battery, that makes it even worse than the results show here.
@@saubhagya7028 so your argument against that is the omnipresence of chargers? That’s probably the most ridiculous argument I’ve heard for batteries yet. Firstly of all I would prefer a phone that can hold onto its charge for way longer which means less downtime charging. You should know that the pixel battery improves after the AI learns usage patterns. So it really becomes a beast after a few days to a week. Same goes for Samsung. Results aren't accurate imo
I have a Pixel 6P. User experience is unmatched but I will admit battery life is a downside. I have mobile data turned off whenever home, it helps a lot. But it is too bad that I feel the need to do that.
There is an "issue" with Android phones or let's say a disadvantage from this type of test.... Android phones keep some of the services for each app running in the background ( a true multitasking OS does this) while iPhone does the opposite... It freezes almost all processes of every app. You can do the same with Android from developer settings and kill all processes when leaving the app or keep at least 1, 2 or three as specified
The only reason that I can think of getting pixel 7 pro or s22 ultra over iPhone 14 pro/max is price difference. In India pixel 7 pro costs around 1100$ whereas 14 pro costs 1550$ so yeah there’s a big price difference but if you don’t care about price and if you’re flexible with both OS then definitely iPhone could be a better option in terms of overall camera performance, processor, ecosystem, optimisation, resale value, battery life, services etc
I'm shocked 12S Ultra got 2nd place even with a 4860mAh battery instead of 5000mAh on all the other Androids. They did say and claim you could get the same as the iPhone 13 Pro Max, about 10-11 hours screen time, so they weren't lying like Google.
In the past, people bullying iphone about battery. Now those people try to give many excuses such as bigger screens, higher resolution, os blah blah. 😂
My s22U lasts nowhere near this long (yes I have reset it). I got it on release, maybe there have been some improvements since? But my note 10 plus would get me through the day with all of the same apps installed.
That's one thing about apple is they optimize their phone to the fullest. I know pixel has been doing the same thing just a matter of time when they match Apple with their optimization.
One thing to note here, every phone other than the iphone is QHD, so if you turn it to FHD, you might get much better battery from all the other phones (closing the margin by a lot and i predict the s22 ultra will pull ahead). Now don't say why would you turn down resolution, if you were to pick the iphone for battery life specifically, you would be stuck to FHD, atleast on the other phones you have the option to turn it upto QHD if you really want the extra resolution for which you sacrifice a bit of battery life
First of all - the iPhone 14 Pro Max resolution is 2,778 x 1,284 which is similar to QHD. Second of all, turning down the resolution doesn’t actually make a big difference, there have been tests done and it makes about a 1-2% difference which is well within the margin of error. The iPhone is just way more efficient than any of the other phones.
With OnePlus you put on charge and with the 80W charger is a beast, with iPhone with that 20W (which you have to buy separately)...so who is the winner ?
If the exterior of the phone is higher that means the phone is doing a great job at moving the heat away from the processor and distributing it across the phone to be radiated out.
Imagine apple with a 5,000mah battery💀 Some people say apple can’t do that yet I see budget phones with 7,000mah batteries😂 Apple is 7.8mm thick and literally feels hollow if you tap your iPhone hard enough, it feels empty Meaning there is space in their to fit a much larger battery, BUT WHY WOULD APPLE DO THAT!!?? Each phone has a different...
1. PPI density
2. Resolution FHD, 2k, 4k,etc
3. Battery capacity
These things affect the results even if some phones are performing better in their specification.

You talk like you know about smartphone design, but you probably don't.

They waiting for android companies to first catch up with 13PM then they’ll just jump ahead a few generations. There’s literally nothing where the sim slots were
Great work!!

Yes, so if he did not do the camera battery draining then it may have lasted over 17 hours! It would have destroyed the others. So a bit unfair using the video for so long at the end as it makes the rest seem better than they actually are. For those in the know, the true advantage for the iPhone is far more than this video shows for the average user.
@@andyH_England agree. It could maybe even last for 3 days on a single charge for average consumers!
@@andyH_England He's not wrong there, but Camera usage is a part of his test. 1080P and then 4k, any Phone that didn't survive is not his fault, but everyone knows iPhone nailed it, could have gone 15+ hours if Camera was not a part of test.
Apple like to unevenly scale the battery percentage, 44% got 8 1/2 hrs but 56% only got another 3?
@@LeftInTheEnd taking 4K footage is a lot heavier on the chipset
I don't think that recording a 1 to 2 hour video is a daily for everyone. The iPhone had 50% after 8+ hours and the camera drained it within just 2+hours. I appreciate that you didn't record in 4k at least though. I would say switching between apps is the most usual battery draining thing. So therefore I would say every 30 minutes you could have taken like 3 photos on each phone inbetween what else you were doing.
"taken like 3 photos on each phone in between" That looks like a good way to test the battery, the way a normal user would do.
Moral of the story is all these smartphones will last you a long plane ride across country, but the Pixel 6 Pro being the coolest to the touch🙂👍

I’m using 14 Pro which has insane battery backup and performance 🔥

One thing to note here, every phone other than the iphone is QHD, so if you turn it to FHD, you might get much better battery from all the other phones (closing the margin by a lot and i predict the s22 ultra will pull ahead).
Now don't say why would you turn down resolution, if you were to pick the iphone for battery life specifically, you would be stuck to FHD, atleast on the other phones you have the option to turn it upto QHD if you really want the extra resolution for which you sacrifice a bit of battery life
This is the right answer
First of all - the iPhone 14 Pro Max resolution is 2,778 x 1,284 which is similar to QHD. Second of all, turning down the resolution doesn’t actually make a big difference, there have been tests done and it makes about a 1-2% difference which is well within the margin of error. The iPhone is just way more efficient than any of the other phones.
With OnePlus you put on charge and with the 80W charger is a beast, with iPhone with that 20W (which you have to buy separately)...so who is the winner ?
