As an INTP I've realized how important it is to maintain boundaries with other people & avoid unnecessary stress as much as possible.. helps with staying on top of things
Sleep comes for us all and I trust (a year late but still) that your body knows when it is time to shut down and put you in that vulnerable comatose state that would have gotten our ancestors killed if not watched by others in the tribe.
This has been sitting on my “watch later” list for 9 months. Also, I bought a book on procrastination years ago,I never read it and I have no idea where that book went.
lol sounds about right. I found an animated Batman movie I bought half a year ago and never watched it, when I stumbled onto it, I realized I never even took the plastic off the DVD case.
:38- I don’t think being an “n” makes you non-fact oriented; I think it makes you more imaginative, but you can be imaginative within a fact-based framework.
The daydreaming can get so intense… I once found myself above the earth, high as an astronaut, then jumping down feeling myself fall towards the ground, almost scary like, and then I bring myself back to reality. Yes, we can experience new things without leaving our rooms. Vivid imagination doesn’t even touch the surface.
@@FireFoxie1345 Have "rewards" you can earn after getting a certain amount done. Put your phone on do not disturb then just commit to working till you get something done. Take a brain break to do whatever after a certain amount of time studying
It’s so frustrating, you know that you have so much potential that all goes to waste because of procrastination and you know the root of the problem which is procrastination and NEED TO CHANGE, but you just can’t bring yourself to bc we like comfortability and we learn best this way. We hate being forced. Just wish that there was no such things as “deadlines”
Raging against nature (the religious may say "against God['s order]), against mortality. INTPs do live on the premise of immortality. With no priorities (practically). A lot of the stuff they do would seem insane for a person with a purpose striving hard to achieve something. It's especially bad if someone is supporting their a$$ financially in adulthood. They could spend decades doing...nothing of value to others. End up with zero marketable-skill capital in their middle age.
As an INTP I would LOVE to work on a project endlessly, until I am satisfied, which means years of on and off work. Today's world doesn't value what we have to offer. Its very hard to feel appreciated, we are just percieved as lazy and bad. I wish I could force myself to do things more easily, it is very mind numbing to do some task you are not mentally prepared to do. Personally, thinking about the logistics of a task (metrics, data, statistics, time), and thinking about how to approach said task, is MUCH more enjoyable than actually doing it. Though sometimes I get caught thinking about the thought of doing the task, if that makes sense.
9:04... yep... i'm intp-a and the amount of vocal cover's and musical pieces I've started work on and never published is ridiculous. same goes with my art and writing.
"Nothing in the real world feels fast enough to keep up with them" Not INTP me watching this video at 1.5 speed, like basically every video and podcast...
9:13 For all my fellow INTPs out there, you doubt yourselves because you know so much and because of that there is room to be wrong (grow in what you dont know) vs a ignorant person who is convinced that they know everything (in whatever task that they are messing up) in what they are doing and thus dont feel the same doubt. Tl/dr Take basketball for example, all it is is bounce the ball and get it in the hoop...simple right but what about the practice with doing jump shots, learning the effectiveness of shooting with the tips of your fingers instead of your whole arm. Point is it is easy to look at something in its purest form (cars are powered by explosions 😂) but when you look closer you see all the things that you dont know which in turn should show you how much you actually do know.
Man, what really grinds my gears is when the group i am with proclaims "okay, we're leaving." and i'm there ready to leave, and somebody either just starts yapping seemingly without end, or doing something else unnecessary/meaningless/unnecessarily slow holding the whole group there for like tens of minutes longer.
As an INTP, I would procrastinate because I didn't care that much about the subject. I would be given x amount of time to complete said project or paper and knew it would take me about x amount of time to do said assignment. Then I would wait until that long before the deadline and begin working. I would almost always have it done 1-5 minutes before it was due, turn it in and usually get an A. Because my procrastination had no negative consequence (as my grade did not suffer) there was no reason to change my behavior.
Studying for a test.. i remember in college, I would cram the books a day before the test, and pass the test with flying colors, but also the bad side of things, I lose about 75% of that crammed knowledge. It’s like we have a extremely spongy short term memory. We can cram any book and know that information for about 3 days.
It's funny, we can see solutions and give advice but we often can't take our advice, but a personality type that has no trouble coming to us for advice can take our advice and off to the races they go.
Could intp get into writing? Like story telling and stuff like that let it be books, graphic novels and/or films. I can see it possibly being a compatible career choice based on some parts of the personality the only thing is that the traits that i dont see as a benefit to such a career choice could be argued are actively detrimental to such a career. ie perfectionism and procrastinating
Yes. I used to have writing as a hobby (before I got bored of it) and I would say I was quite good at it. Our large vocabularies are great for these types of hobbies or careers.
@@MrTrashcan1 Because many INTJs are very passion focused. I get a lot done when I'm doing things I'm passionate about, but will just completely ignore other things if they don't interest me. I takes a lot of my will power and self-control to not let my passions overtake my responsibilities sometimes. An example is spending all my time working on a programming project for one of my college classes while ignoring my calculus homework until the last minute.
The best view most people miss on the phenomenon of procastination is? Procastination is natures way not make people are robots that do to what they are told to do, even if its the most practical thing to do at the given moment. Procastination isnt about the pursuit of perfection... more likely accuracy and consistency. But procastination isnt about that but is about doing something they are not comfortable with that often find it mundane or the presence of undercurrent complicated issue that all the intp solutions will be likely viewed negatively by everyone present than not. Due to the experience of an intp for being often the person on the wrong time. If that doesnt cause procastination... i dont know what is that consistently happen without the physically traumatic attributes.
Actually, I enjoy boring tasks as it allows me to go deep into thought and dream up new things. I purposely take easy jobs that don’t require me to think, so that I can do those jobs and think about new ideas while doing it. Give me a mop and bucket, and ill do the work without needing to think about it. LoL!
Tools and systems will solve a lot of INTP issues. I read the comment section and saw fellow INTPs making shallow jokes about accepting this weakness. Im shocked to see this about people who I share type with. Now I really feel alone..
I have a couple of friends (3 depending on your definition of friend) and I know one of them who is for sure an INTJ. He is me, but better, he is goal oriented and actually has a structured routine. Why was I cursed? I think the edge INTPs have over their J buddies, is that we are more creative and innovative. But thats not very easy to be percieved as valuable by society in general 😢 I wish life was easier
Example - INTJ guitarist learns to shred and accumulates a library of familiar material in short time - leaving INTP to doubt thier own abilities and maybe even considers giving up. INTP guitarist plays anyway but invents a new sound and style in a master stroke, maybe even a new instrument and there by competes with imagination over direct competition against Js admirable steadfastness and accomplishments. e@@Logos-cz8wt

Neither Einstein nor any of the others were INTPs. You think that because the descriptions of INTPs are mostly wrong. And if you read his personal papers you'll know he couldn't be. don't make me the leader. I'm going to take everyone to ruin. but i don't want anyone controlling me.

The INTP's best fit is not to be the general in battle, but to be the strategist that the general comes to for the best moves to make.
