      You look swollen, you are a young woman n her 40s, you looked amazing in your 20s, it is a shame that you did that to your face. It is insanity, you can't even talk and you don't look good. You destroyed your face and your beauty for "glass skin" that can't even move. And your skin would have been perfect anyway, better than it is now, if you have stopped years ago and you used just a great moisturizer. You wouldn't have aged and you would look more youthfull than you do now that you are swollen.
      You have mentall issues. It is not normal to put that thing to your skin when you are swollen and you can't eve move. That is for older women that is why you are swollen your whole life.
      Some people have such great skin that they don't need it untill they are 70.

    I have been telling my friends the same thing. I started using Differin since in my late 20s. I used to have oily skin, and I was acne prone. I started using Differin until now I’m 44 years old. I was told I still look like in my early 30s, or 35 ish. I don’t see the necessity to use so many different tretinoin or retinols. I still use it now, after cleaning my face at night, a layer of moisturizer, Differin, another layer of moisturizer and I go to sleep.
    I now have almost glass skin, I became normal skin type. I got a bit hyped with all the retinol skin care products, and enjoyed playing around with them. But I went back to Differin. It’s just so many ingredients. I haven’t had acnes for a decade. I will never stop using it.

      @@oishii86 I will have to admit, as Asian. Who watches a lot of western RUclipsrs, I am glad that I got to know brands like CeraVe, or Vanicream etc. So my current skin care routine for PM:
      I use Bioderma’s micellar water to cleanse all the dirty stuffs on my face and I just chill.
      We take showers at night. I will use Vanicream’s gentle cleanser after shower, pat my face dry and put on a layer of puynkang yul’s moisturizer. Wait until my skin is dry, Differin, and then a reacher cream. I sometimes just like using Nivea (made from Germany) version. Or Pyunkang Yul’s Ampoule.
      In the morning because I have normal skin, I don’t get dry or oily, I rinse me face just with water. Same stuffs as my PM routine, but not the cream, I use timeless vitamin C. and then, sunscreen! I have like 20 bottles of them, I like mix and match. I started my journey with Differin about 4 years ago. I used it for over a year and then switched to tretinoin 0.05%. I have to disagree somewhat that they work equally. If anything, the effects are quite different. After using Differin for a few months, I noticed that my skin was softer and smoother feeling but it didn't necessarily look that much different. On a whim I decided to make the switch to tretinoin and that was a complete sea change. For the first time in my adult life, I stopped having oily, acne-prone skin. After a few months, my skin was finally acting "normal" at the age of 51. I have now been using it religiously (2 nights on, 1 night off) for 3 years and at the age of 54, I can safely say that I have virtually no static wrinkles/lines - just a couple of faint creases under my eyes that I am keeping tabs on.

    • @iako...
      @iako... Год назад +9

      @judith2581 It depends skin to skin, but what I did was
      First, I started with tretinoin 0.5% and of course you must expect purging and peeling in the beginning. Don't over do it, I apply tretinoin and after 20 minutes I apply serum and masturizer, I want tretinoin to realy go deep down before I use other product on top of it. I alternate tretinoin /differin always same way, but I don't really have a rule, i simply look at my skin and decide which one to apply that day, but always finish with masturizer, they both have drying effect. Once a week, I use 30% glycolic peel and that day and next 2 days, after I won't be applying tretinoin or differin bcs it will be too much for my skin.
      Sunscreen is a must ! Even if I go out for 2 minutes, I will apply good amount of sunscreen. If you are not committed to protecting your skin from sun all the time, you better not use tretinoin.
      First, I started with tretinoin, and after 2 years, I added a differin. I'm not sure if starting both at the same time is a good idea.

      I have used Adapalene before, I loved it. Will give this routine a try for a while. Do you think it would be good if I go back to Adapalene and use Tret once a week until I work my way up to alternating them (one each night)? Or is it too much?
      I stopped Adapalene cuz I started using the CeraVe retinol, the light green one. So I think my skin can adjust to Tret very quickly.
      About Glycolic, I have used the o e from the ordinary, it has 10%, I think I was miss using it cuz I was applying it 3 times a week.

I don’t want to go through the irritation, redness, peeling etc. I’ve had excellent results using Adapalene and I’m not slowing down. The only thing I’ve had was some purging but other than that, it’s been smooth sailing. I’ve switched from Differin to Acne Free because Acne Free was cheaper. I have no desire to try Trentinoin. I’m happy with the Differin. Compared to all the expensive skincare I’ve used this is a bargain!! I wear mineral sunscreen everyday, a hat and I limit my sun exposure. Also I take care of my skin by not drinking or smoking. I take skin supplements, drink collagen and take vitamins making sure I get enough vitamin A. I also juice everyday. I mostly drink green juice or watermelon juice. Adapalene must work the same as tretinoin for acne, but for skin aging there is simply not as much studies to back it up as there are with tretinoin, which has been studied for decades, adapalene being a much more recent synthetic retinoic. Also, tretinoin is a natural substance and melabolite of our bodies, whereas there isn't any adapalene in our systems, ok, that doesn't say much, but I would rather go with something natural, because of that tretinoin binds to all 3 subtypes of retinoic acid receptors in our skin (ie. alpha, beta, gamma), and if I can remeber correctly adapalene binds only to beta, or something, not to all the three, that's way it is milder and has less side effects, but we do not yet know whether or not it also diminishes it's efficacy in skin aging. Other thing to consider about what you say is that if you want to prevent future skin damage or aging you can't stop tretinoin for much long time simply because you have been using it for decades (it's like stoping sun screen because you have already used it in the past), because the sun is everyday causing damage to our skin, and tretinon helps not only to reverse that damage but also to prevent it, that's why it's such a mustake to stop using it in the summer like many people do, because it's exatactly in the summer that one needs it the most, because tretinoin prevents the cascade of damage that the sun rays causes in the skin in the moment that you expose it. I would dare to say it is even more inmportant than sunscreen (of course, if you already avoid direct exposure to sun). I would recommend unsing it on alternate days forever for optimal results.

      @karenmariewagstaff5746 Год назад +3

      They are all synthetic derivatives of retinoic acid. Adapalene and retinols are weaker versions because the molecules take longer to convert to retinoic acid and have less side effects. Also Tretinoin is not suitable for everyone.

    • @claushenrique
      @claushenrique Год назад +4

      @@karenmariewagstaff5746 tretinoin is all-trans-retinoic acid, it's not synthetic, of course it is synthetized, but it's not synthetic in the sense that it was made up like adapalene, that doesn't exist in nature, because tretinoin a metabolite of vitamin A. When one eats, for instante, beef or chicken liver, or take supplements of vitamin A, like cod liver oil, the body naturaly ingests or transforms it in tretinoin.

    I have started using tretinoin for a few days, I'm surprised to see almost no side effects and my skin already feels great. But I'm so scared after coming across many negative reviews comments and risks, i don't know what to do... I'm loving tretinoin, i don't wanna quit, but I'm also scared thinking if I'm harming my health.

    Thanks for another great video, Jennifer! I'm 36 and using Differin gel four nights a week, and using The Ordinary's Vitamin C 30% suspension in silicone on those other nights. Has been working absolute wonders for my skin and is so simple and affordable. If my skin starts getting too sensitive, I just have a few nights where all I wear is moisturiser.

      Do you use the vit c at the same time as the differin? I'm worried about using both at the same time. I'm currently using differin nightly.

      @@threearrows2248 Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I updated my post as I left out a bit of info :) I use Differen Gel around four nights a week, and Vitamin C on those other three. But if I start feeling sensitivity coming on, I cut right back on both and just use a moisturiser. Hope this helps! Also, I had been using Differin Gel for a few months before I introduced Vitamin C.

    Unfortunately Differin is not available OTC in Canada. By prescription it is expensive as at least my insurance doesn’t cover it. I use prescription tretinoin

    thank u, i started with cerave resurfacing serum and one month in i am purging like a dog ... since one year i am struggling with adult acne (26yo now) and i realized that the time when you do nothing and still can have baby skin, has passed........it is a super painful process bc mentally i am still struggling when i have breakouts. facials can bring temporary results but it is not sustainable. thanks for ur sincerity and advice. now i dont have any irritation or dryness from the cerave serum, im considering to start slowly with differin gel. acne gals out there, be strong! thanks again, your words calm me down

      @yunweiliu5700 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@umelaila1036 yes i started with that, it was gentle but slightly irritating for the eyes. after 4 weeks i started purging quite bad, then another month later i changed to differin 0.1% cream bc i finally was able to see a dermatologist. one month differin now and i still have some pimples but way less. its a long and slightly scary process, but have faith! go slow. hope this helps.

    The studies seem to suggest you need to use .3% adapalene to get some of the similar benefits as .05% tretinoin. I have .1% adapalene right now. I wish that worked as well as tretinoin, but I'm not quite as confident as you are after seeing that study.

      She doesnt even have acne so she is not the one to speak about this tbh. In my experience differin didnt even come close to 0.05 tret. I used differin for 7+ months

      @@lemonstealer2902I just bought some .025% tret. The .1% adapalene can even burn my skin sometimes. I'm on my first small tube of it.
