Differin® (adapalene) is an over-the-counter topical retinoid used for the treatment of acne. It may also be used for the purpose of so-called "anti-aging," as it helps to minimize and delay the premature visible signs of aging (uneven skin tone & texture, dullness, sagging skin, fine lines & wrinkles).
It is a suitable, if not ideal, treatment option for those who either don't have access to a prescribing physician (a requirement for obtaining tretinoin), as well as for those who find tretinoin to be intolerable due to its extremely harsh side effects.
I've been using adapalene since before it became available OTC - it used to be sold under prescription only - so I have many years (half my life) of tried and true experience with this product. I recommend it to anyone who wishes to introduce a retinoid into their skincare routine.
The best part about Differin® is that you can achieve the same results using it as compared with prescription-strength tretinoin; only with longer treatment time and milder side effects (making it more suitable for sensitive or highly reactive skin types).
I encourage you to explore this topical treatment option. I've found it to be not only highly effective but a pleasure to use. It is one of the reasons I continue using it and singing its praises.

I much older than you. I have been using prescription retinA for about 30 years. I use 0.1%. I am lucky that my husband is a Doctor ( not a dermatologist) and he can prescribe it for me. I have to say the results are worth the peelin and redness that come with the use of this product. I don’t even want to use foundation any more. Protection from the sun like you said is extremely important. Thank you for your encouragement.

I can not agree with you more, I started using Differin at age of 55 then I switched to tretinoid until now without any problem,I am reaching 60 but my skin looks much better than when I was 40 or 30. My skin texture is totally changed, I believe that any one can do it, it is never too late.

I've used tretinoin for 2 years and switched to adapalene gel now for almost 2 years. In my experience adapalene is way more effective to me. I've seen results with my fine lines and wrinkles too with adapalene gel. I'm currently using it nightly now in conjunction with salicylic acid, niacinamide, and potassium azeloyl diglycinate.

0.3 adapalene does give the same results as tretinoin, but there’s no evidence with 0.1 adapalene, at least at the same level of skin changes produce.

I was on Differin for 8+ years and I had great glass like skin but still broke up. I started using spironolactone and never got cystic acne again (just the occasional bump from sweat or a pimple, nothing crazy like before). I switched to Tretinoin 0.025 and the next day I thought my pores looked smaller. I have kept with the tretinoin and am now at 0.05 strength almost a year later and this is the best my skin has ever looked. I think adapalene is a great product that everyone should try but I definitely don’t think it works best for my skin.

That was cute. "I am a Differin pusher" I enjoy your videos so much. I really loved the one you did with your Mom. She treasures her daughter. So sweet.

  • @NurHidayah-ys2wj

To me 0.1% tretinoin is my no 1 anti aging cream. It’s cheap and it works to get glass skin. 51 and my skin is better than when I was 30s

I started tretinoin 3 years ago, I was 35 and I was so upset no fancy dermatologist ever told me about it. my skin was good, white Caucasian, no wrinkles, no lines but some acne occasionally. Tretinoin together with glycolic and TCA peels changed my skin so much that I cant recognise it. Everyone I know I literally beg to start tretinoin and not to waste a day. I also alternate Differin and tretinoin, and at this stage I cant see much change as I already have amazing skin.

Your constant advocation for a simplistic and minimalistic approach to things is such a nice contrast to most other content I consume. I heavily align with your message and yet I still struggle to put it into practice with all that it constantly being advertised to me. It's like pushing a re-set button every time I watch your videos to remind me life doesn't have to be so complicated!

I have been telling my friends the same thing. I started using Differin since in my late 20s. I used to have oily skin, and I was acne prone. I started using Differin until now I’m 44 years old. I was told I still look like in my early 30s, or 35 ish. I don’t see the necessity to use so many different tretinoin or retinols. I still use it now, after cleaning my face at night, a layer of moisturizer, Differin, another layer of moisturizer and I go to sleep.

  • @soupnfresh

People can use a moisturizer first then massage in a little of bit of tretinoin on top of it. It won't mess up your face this way.
