One of the things I appreciate about topical retinoids is how they simplify the rest of your routine. Basics are best, and looking after the skin is king. 12-step routines with multiple actives just seems like asking for trouble.
I love your videos because you keep your routine simple. I only use retin a and have for 13 years. I am 51 and have no wrinkles. Retin A is all you need.xx
I’ve been using castor oil instead of eye cream ever since I heard you say you did that and I LOVE it! You’re 100% right about it’s efficacy. Thank you!!!
Everything she highlights in this video is accurate. Tretinoin is a long game. I'm 28 years old and I've been using tretinoin for 8 years, starting when I was 20 years old due to cystic acne outbreaks. I apply it all over my face, including the eye and nasolabial area, and it definitely gives me the most benefits, especially around the eye area where I don't develop crow's feet. At this point, I can safely say that thanks to tretinoin and religious application of sunscreen, my skin quality is better than that of my peers. I often get mistaken for being in my early 20s. So, if you plan to use tretinoin just push through and have faith that you'll reap the benefits in the long run.
@@RaquelpeQe21 initially i apply it only 3 times per week and i didn’t had that dry peeling face because my skin is oily so i guess that’s one of the many factors why i’ve rarely struggle with peeling issues
I love the video, the products and the results! ❤ Everyone talking crap in the comments about you using Botox, who cares if you do or don’t. Yes botox prevents lines from forming. From experience Botox can help with that but it can’t give you great skin! This video is about skincare, and it’s obvious you have amazing skin from Tretinoin and your commitment to your skincare regimen. Thank you for sharing what works for you. Make sure you choose a non-toxic spf everyone 😊 Not all are created equally.
@TrinaGallo maybe she intentionally speaks without almost moving that area and it seems a bit like botox / lacking expression. But I do see movements there Either way, botox isn't bad or good per se, to each his own, but I don't think she says she's never done botox. Keep using tretinoin and use it forever. Just use sunscreen during the day. I would also suggest using Vitamin C during the day as well if your skin can tolerate. If you do this now, you’ll look at least 5-10 years younger than your peers when you’re 40. I should know. I’m 40 and I started using tretinoin at the age of 27 for my acne. I have no fine lines or wrinkles
Wow ! Great video ! To the point and a testament to the product and the process that you are taking about. These are the type of “influencers” I’m looking for lately. I can’t with the ones that have a different “holy grail “ every month. Thank you for making this video!😊
I started using tretinoin .1% at 29 for acne. I’m now 37 and continue to use it every night and I’m super religious about my sunscreen. I get many compliments on my skin and I’m often told I look a decade younger. I don’t spend money on high end, overly priced skincare. My Rx tretinoin and sunscreen is all I need. I use Cerave cleanser and Cerave moisturizer. I recently started using Rx hydroquinone too for evening out my skin tone. Luckily my insurance covers my tretinoin for acne, so only I pay for is the hydroquinone. I feel sooo lucky I started tretinoin so young, I will continue to use it until my old age lol
@@colabpro2615 my doctor prescribed it and it’s meant to be used for a short time to reduce uneven skin tone. Then maintain results with sunscreen. I am able to use it again if the spots come back. My doc said it’s safe
This is a very effective product and your skin looks beautiful. I started using it at age 40 and I am now 82 and still using it for now for 42 years. My daughter age 59 is using it also and has beautiful clear skin as I do. It takes time as you described and I also find that my face keeps fat in it over thinning out. Like you I use the castor oil around my eyes. Keeping lips moisturized is important or as you age lips tend to dry up and disappear.
May I ask how did you start? At what percentage(and did you use retinol or retinal before that) and how did you decide to go up with %? At what strength are you now, i.e.the longest? Thank you☺️
im curious about your account of keeping fat in the face? I am guessing you are aware of all the reports of people experiencing the opposite. many people say they notice they lost fat, especially in the under eye. ive seen photos of many people with this result and It does look like something went wrong. very curious of how people have such opposite experiences
I was looking at your video from the age of 37 and you looked 23! Now you look 27 - amazing work! you've singlehandedly moved me closer to a skincare emphasis rather than a makeup emphasis. I still wear alot of makeup on special occasions but now I'm a light makeup during the week girlie and emphasize my skin!

Hello Jennifer , I would like to thank you for sharing your secret. I started using Tretinoin after watching your videos and I am so grateful to you. I have been using it for almost 2 years and my skin is looking so great. Thank you
My skin is very sensitive and I have trouble with most treatments but I am using sunscreen since I was 20 consistently every day and now at 30 I start seeing a difference in the rate of aging compared to my peers.
I found using exfoliating face washes a good first step. I’ve been using the neostrata clarifying face wash for years. This has salicylic acid and mandalic acid and I am now able to use stronger actives either in face wash form and some leave on products.
Hello Jennifer! I hope you're doing great. And good to see you back, really missed you here on RUclips. I don’t use Tretinoin. I use Adapalene 0.1% doesn’t matter the brand (Acne Free, Differin, La Roche Posay, generic, etc). I’ve been it consistently for 2-3 years along with my regular skincare routine including daily sunscreen and my skin improved so much. Adapalene is so gentle and non irritating for my combination skin. Thank you for inspiring me to use it.

Hey! I just wanted to ask, what are the benefits of mixing adapalene and tretinoin. I've been using tretinoin for almost a year now and it got me thinking.
Jennifer, your complexion is beautiful! I started using Tretinoin about two months ago, and am about ready to give up; actually, I’ve cut back in using it. I’m using the 0.01%, and my face looks horrible! It’s peeling, it’s dry, and IV GOT PIMPLES! I’m in my 70’s! How can that be?! I try not to go out anywhere, because I’m embarrassed by the condition my face is in. My face feels rough to the touch, and I have wrinkles where I didn’t have before. I wish my face looked half as pretty as yours! Enjoyed your video!
Fot who is saying that she has botox:. Im 32, but when I was 15, I realized one of my school friends used to move her forehead muscles a lot when she was speaking, and she had expression marks because of that. So I decided do not move mine like that. Years after, now, I have no wrinkles or lines at all. Of course when I laugh, when I cry, it moves, but it I dont do it unnecessarily like many people do.

Have you noticed any difference in your eye health since using castor oil? People have reported improvement in vision and less "floaters" using castor oil around the eyes. As someone with kind of dry eyes, floaters and impaired vision, I've been really interested in trying it.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I just got a prescription by my dermatologist and I already feel that my skin is sooo so smooth! I have really textured skin and leftover acne as well as scarring. Hope this helps me as well as it helped you
Thank you Jennifer. Such a great video again. Straight to the point. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us. I started using Tretinoin in November last year, now it's June and my skin transformed. My first bottle is almost empty. I use Tretinoin every night today. Since I got used to dealing with acne and I never had a problem to leave the house without makeup, the beginning side effects were completely alright. I used Aquaphor to take care of the dryness / skin peeling. The pimples I get nowadays are caused by PMS or alcohol or sugar-containing food / drinks. Even though Tretinoin helped my skin, I do think a healthy nutrition is a must as well. Reducing processed food is a good thing to do and during my Tretinoin and nutrition journey, the way I think of food completely changed. Back in the days I was so used to processed food that I associated it with quality. Self-made food by my mom was never really good enough. In my head "processed" was always better. Weird, right? I blame this to my childhood. It's crazy how much sugar and processed / junk food I ate as a kid and especially as a teenager and young adult. Maybe my acne was caused by all the sugar I consumed back then. During the years I learned to cook with interest and joy. Back in the days I also just did sport so that it is okay, to treat myself with unhealthy snacks. Today I don't even want these snacks anymore, because, whenever I eat them, I feel how bad they are for my body. Now and then I still drink a Coke or eat snacks containing sugar, but then I always have to pay with pimples, which helps me to think twice before I decide to eat or drink sth. - I will definitely give Differin a shot. I have finally a skin condition that allows it to use a new active ingredient and to observe how my skin reacts. My favorite sunscreen is the Cerave AM SPF 50. Here in Europe they sell it in a different packaging, because I also use the PM Moisturizer, but it comes in a tube + pump. The Cerave AM Lotion is the first sunscreen that doesn't sting my eyes. I finally can use sunscreen on my eyelids without having tearing eyes during the day. I tried so many different sunscreens, but I always come back to this one. I also started using Vaseline on my lips when I started the Tretinoin treatment and the condition of my lips also changed. They are so smooth and just look healthy today. In case someone also has a problem with skin picking: Aquaphor + cotton gloves together are a great combination. Wear the gloves over night. The Aquaphor takes great care of wounds around the nails and to start wearing the gloves in the evening prevents from more skin picking.
Omg how well articulated it is. You wrote my life story 😭 my skincare journey changed my relationship with food. I do pay price with pimples if I consume coke 😭😭 but it's okay some times I know how to manage my acne Tret, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid are my best friends 😃
@@gratitudegrateful705 I can really say that Tretinoin is treating my pimples perfectly. Or maybe it is because of my strengthened skin barrier that the pimples I get nowadays are not much inflamed anymore and heal really quick. All I can say is that Tetinoin changed my life completely and I am so grateful! :) Wishing you and your skin all the best!
Thank you, I wish you same 😃 Truly, tret changed my skin also consistent use of sunscreen. I could relate each of every statement what you have written. I also started my journey in Nov 2022. My skin has never looked healthy and glowing ever like it is now. Have you tried la-rochey posay sunscreen. I am not based on Europe but heard European sunscreen have better uv filters.
@@gratitudegrateful705 Thank you! :) When I think back to the old days when I barely used sunscreen - just when I was going swimming, which was maybe 3 times a year - it gives me the shivers. Nowadays I want sunscreen on my skin, even when I just do my work in my office, which has a huge window next to the desk. And whenever I spend time outside, I reapply sunscreen at least one time. So interesting how everything changed, but this new healthy and thoughtful lifestyle makes this life much more enjoyable and more "rich" in so many ways in my opinion. Taking deep breaths feels so good! I am much more present now and it gets easier everyday to reduce screen time and read a book instead. I don't want to get that deep here, but life has so much to offer when you are taking good care of your body and your mind. I never want to lose that balance and calmness ever again. Anyways, La Roche-Posay! I always wanted to try the Invisible Fluid UVMune 400 SPF 50+, since so many content creators use and recommend it. I will definitely give it a shot in the near future. Naw, I am so happy for both of us that Tretinoin helped us! :')
@@chrln I can resonate every thing what you said. Not kidding 🥺 From wearing sunscreen once a blue moon to consistently applying everyday also reapplying atleast once a day. Double cleansing has also helped at night time too. Would love to hear more from you about your progress. Also, for me Korean sunscreen worked. Beauty of josen it is my holy grail. If you ever get chance I did recommend to try Korean sunscreen which has better protection than USA based sunscreen. It's easy for me to get as there are different websites target for USA based . Jennifer has said in one of her older videos that she has never had procedures done and that she never will. She doesn't judge anyone who gets procedures done, but it's her personal choice not to do any of that stuff to her face. If you watch other videos on her channel you'll see that she lives an extremely clean and holistic life. Her diet and exercise routines are very consistent and disciplined. She also doesn't have children, and people underestimate how much raising kids can affect your overall stress levels and aging over time. I'm not saying all parents age faster, btw. I just think her not having children is a major factor in her lack of skin aging, and a fact that shouldn't be overlooked.

I’m not going to lie, doing tret for a while made my forehead a bit hard to move. I had a lot of acne and the most activity going on up there and after it all cleared, it stopped wrinkling and I couldn’t lift my brows as much as before.

@@hadjer8146 how often are you applying it? it’s perfectly fine to start out applying tret once a week (or more or less depending on what your skin can handle) and working up to more frequent usage over time. I used once a week for 3 months-I have very sensitive, dry skin-and then began using twice a week for another month or so until I was comfortable enough to bump it up again. doing this will prevent your skin from purging and peeling because you’re spacing it out and giving your skin time to recover. I also recommend looking up “skin cycling/tret skin cycling” here on RUclips for info on that sort of process.

How many days per week do you use it and what moisturizer do you pair it with?

Everybody are so jealous and mean in the comments omg
She has the most beautiful and healthy looking skin - what y'all talking about?
@TrinaGallo maybe she intentionally speaks without almost moving that area and it seems a bit like botox / lacking expression. But I do see movements there
Either way, botox isn't bad or good per se, to each his own, but I don't think she says she's never done botox.
Her skin texture and complexion is still amazing (and yours too looking at your channel 😍)
@@yhyuk Thanks! Oh I have nothing against Botox. I’m thinking of getting a little in a few years. But I don’t like that she leads us to believe her skin is THAT perfect ONLY because she uses tret.

I started my retinol journey last year cuz im now 24. I was so naive that time and damaged my skin barrier gave me bad acne breakouts, I never had breakouts even on my teens, i had to rest for a few months and now back on retinol, im so glad i found your channel because you really inspire me on your commitment on an anti aging lifestyle and i try to incorporate it in my daily life thank youu
It's good to be starting while you're still young because once you hit the 30s aging hits you too. One day you wake up like what the hell happened lol

@@alaina2768 Yes it did.

My skin is very sensitive and I have trouble with most treatments but I am using sunscreen since I was 20 consistently every day and now at 30 I start seeing a difference in the rate of aging compared to my peers.
I might try tretinoin again when I have had kids so I don‘t have to go on and off the treatment which irritates my skin too much
I found using exfoliating face washes a good first step. I’ve been using the neostrata clarifying face wash for years. This has salicylic acid and mandalic acid and I am now able to use stronger actives either in face wash form and some leave on products.
You could try retinal, it's one step away from tretinoin and much less irritating...

I do pay price with pimples if I consume coke 😭😭 but it's okay some times I know how to manage my acne
Tret, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid are my best friends 😃
@@gratitudegrateful705 I can really say that Tretinoin is treating my pimples perfectly. I’ve been using 0.1% tretinoin since 2005. It took me some years to figure out what regimen works for my skin, and I’m 32 now and everyone says I look like I’m in my early 20s.
Wow, so you started when you were 15? That's amazing!
Isa 0,1 too harsh for beginners with dry skin?
@@tequilabumbum4373 I began on 0.1% and it was really rough the first few years actually, but I have zero issues now.
I am not disappointed, your information is really valuable to me, thank you a lot for sharing ❤
