Just want to make something clear as it seems not everyone is watching the full video or misunderstanding the point. I use tretinoin. I love it. It's a great ingredient. But is it the miracle skin smoothing, wrinkle erasing ingredient that RUclips says it is? I don't think so. And I've been using it for 10 years. My point is that if you're making a video about how amazing tretinioin is and using before and after photos (showing wrinkle reduction) then one should be honest about whatever else one might have been doing or using. If you're comparing a photo from 10 years ago, or 5 or 2 (you get the drift) but in that time you've had botox, laser, peels, IPL, filler etc... then how you can say 100% that the improvement in wrinkles is from tretinoin and not the aforementioned? Thats the point I'm making. It's not that tretinoin isn't good. It is. But please let's be more honest about the other things that might have contributed to the wrinkle reduction.
100% agree! People imply tret gave this amazing results but fail to mention they also get laser treatments, got Botox and fillers, facials/peels, copper peptides, growth factor serums, etc.
So right. I'm 74 and been using tretinoin for at least 12 years. No fillers, lasers, or actually anything else. Tretinoin 5 nights a week and P50 2 nights. I look like a healthy 74 year old with very good skin.
Me too. Late 60's and refuse to get any expensive treatments and there are so many promoted shown on RUclips. I'm starting to get the lines on the side of my mouth. My skins still looks very good as long as I don't use a magnifying mirror.
Hi Wayne. I'm 70 years of age, and have consistently used tretinoin for 10 years. All my skincare is done at home, by me. No type of injectables, surgery, procedures, and no spa treatments. I have routinely used a derma roller, and a few other inexpensive serum (recently added red light therapy at home). My skin does not look 15 years younger, but it is better than it was 10 years ago. MaryEllen
70 here, too, Mary Ellen. Watching you and Wayne and others on YT has given me great tips for caring for my skin and I do get compliments, however, my “tricks” are mainly quality products, consistency and, most importantly, NO SUN and Sunscreen ALWAYS on my fair, fair skin! In my twenties,I felt like such a loser with hats and coverups at the beach. But, hey, I’m sure reaping the benefits now. Wouldn’t you just love it if we could have peeked over Wayne’s shoulder when he was watching the magic retin A videos. I bet there was cursing involved! 👀
That's fine. You can make that claim, they cannot (and definitely not publicly with pictures) make the claims that tret is entirely responsible for the appearance of their faces.
I am so glad you have spoken out. It makes me so angry about these influencers who act like they only use creams when you know that they have had botox and everything else. Just be honest! I have only used tretinoin and creams. I just went to a dermatologist for the first time 6 months ago for a basal carcinoma on my shoulder. I am 67 years old. She asked me what I use on my face and I told her Tretinoin. She said, you have great skin. I have wrinkles, dark circles, redness around nose. Tretinoin is not the cure all but it definitely helps.
@@Corrans I've never had any fillers, Botox or any plastic surgery whatsoever, I don't use any creams other than petroleum jelly. Can you guess my age?
True. These people make me feel like an “ugly duckling.” I take good care of my skin. I have earned my wrinkles. .Would I have a facelift, if affordable. Hell yeah!
Most celebs that sell skin creams .. or got on vogue and do their make up and gush about all the products they use . While they have a full face of Botox or fillers . I can see it 😂
💯! Been using Tretinoin on and off for 20 yrs. My skin is great…for a 55yr. old. Smooth and glowy. However, it has ‘not’ prevented static wrinkles appearing AND it hasn’t prevented sagging at cheek/jowl areas. Certainly it’s fantastic stuff but has its limitations.
@@lavanniarajalingam50 Well, no, not the holy grail 😢😂 but still the best you’ll get in a tube and it will help slow down fine lines. Give it a shot. Might take some getting used to at the beginning, I have quite sensitive skin so I moisturise first now and then apply Tretinoin, might be a good way for you to begin. Oh! And sunscreen! Always sunscreen…I use it as a moisturiser (daytime) under my foundation. Very important. Best of luck. x
@@lavanniarajalingam50 The Ordinary Argeriline will also slow down wrinkles - been using this off an on for 5 years but for the past 2.5 years, use it everyday. Also Timeless Matrixyl 3000 (for your age), or CoQ-10 (Matrixyl 3000 + CoQ10). Don't forget the antioxidants (Vit C, Alpha Arbutin, THD Ascorbate (gentler but supposedly more effective than L-Ascorbic Acid; supposedly helps stimulate collagen), GHK-CU/Copper Tripeptide for firmness. Always your peptides.
I think at this point, we should all know, absolutely everything an influencer says has to be taken with a grain of salt. It is their job to push things. Period. ( their job description is influencer, that is a huge clue)
@@CoCo.Sizemore Nothing works in the sense that it would stop you from looking your age, and that's a no-brainer. It's like Wayne said in this video, all these women go on for ages about those products and how much younger they look etc., and then you think " She looks about 37-38.. WOW I wonder how old she really is?" But it then turns out she is 41. BIG DEAL looking like 38 when you are 41 😆 Nowadays most women in that age group look 5-6 years younger without any treatments. The influencers are just delusional + they LIE.
@@cultmamacultmama3571that's not a written in stone "no brainer" truth at all. Particularly if you have a skin condition like acne, rosacea, etc. Products that work for your skin will prevent scarring, discoloration, etc and improve the look and feel of your skin, which absolutely does prevent and minimize damage that contributes to how old you look. Acid peels can have incredible results (though much more so if you can get clinical treatments.) Simply wearing sunscreen alone reduces the most obvious avoidable cause of visible aging, THAT seems like a "no-brainer" to me. The important takeaway is simple: "manage your expectations." Looking mid-thirties when you are early forties is great. Who are you to say that's not enough? What matters is how a person feels about themselves. If they look and feel 5 years younger and that makes them happy, I don't see a need to cut people down because it's not dramatic enough to impress YOU.
I starts using retinoids in my 20s because it helped with my adult acne. I use it now because I like the way my skin looks without makeup more when I’m using it regularly. However, I do have to acknowledge that my skin is probably as good as it is because of my 82 year old mother, who has gorgeous, smooth, plump skin after a lifetime of irregular sunscreen use. Sometimes genetics really does trump everything else.
You've said it perfectly. I know my mum is 73 and nobody believes her. Nobody believes I'm 47...I'm really not bragging. I'm just stating that, in the end, it comes down to genetics. Of course we can help with a good skincare, but skincare is not be-all and end-all.
I think some are missing the point: Wayne essentially put out a PSA for everyone. He’s completely correct. This is “Watcher Beware.” Thankfully the people my age or older that I watch are generally pretty honest about procedures they have or have not done. I can’t afford any of it. Skincare and at-home things I can do are it for me. I’m perfectly happy with that. Thank you, Wayne! 😊
Thankyou for your sensible advice. Im 65, use tretinoin and have good skin. Aging, getting lines etc etc but I'm cool with looking older, with good skin! ❤
For me, it’s not even about whether I can afford it or not. I’d rather use any spare money I do have on trips abroad (just starting to do that at age 60) or fun & unique experiences in my home city. I did actually go and get a quote on Botox a few years ago out of curiosity & nearly choked at the ongoing cost!
@@janeseemann2527Yes, Botox is super expensive. I'm using it every 3 months and it costs me $700 each time. And I'm just doing the forehead and the glabellar area.
Hey, we are not all aliens, some of us are martians… silly comment. I do take care of my skin, genetics, use retin A, no Botox, I will do it soon, lthough. Also, Wayne has gotten Botox, he is not an alien. He’s a Martian also. I love Brits, I love Uk, don’t ruin it. Joking peace to you ❤
I live in the US & you’re soo right! The brows cranked up 3+ inches, eyes pulled back, the insane duck lips, billboard size cheeks due to filler, on & on. It’s totally out of control.
Fillers and injections are popular amongst the British crowd too. There is also a running joke in the makeup world of how caked on uk makeup can get as well as the over reliance of tanning. Looking ridiculous is not liked to one religion unfortunately
Thank you, Wayne. At last someone who tells it like it is. I’m so fed up listening to all the nonsense. If I was younger (I’m 66) I’d be getting miserable and depressed that things weren’t working for me the way they were for everyone on social media. I feel so sorry for these beautiful young girls and boys who feel under such pressure.
I do like tretinoin and have been using it since 1986. I’ve never had Botox or fillers or surgery and my skin doesn’t look flawless but it doesn’t look too terribly bad. But I’m 69 years old. Of course I’m going to have wrinkles. I just think over the years it’s helped the wrinkles not be so bad. And I’m ok with that. I have nothing against people getting Botox or surgery or fillers. It’s just something I knew I was never going to do so I looked to things like tretinoin to help me. I also felt like not using moisturizers helped too. And using some vitamin c serum and a mild acid in the morning. I do think I would have had more wrinkles if I hadn’t used it. But this was so interesting and I really enjoyed it. I hope you have a terrific weekend! ❤❤❤
Yes, but you are a gorgeous freak of nature 😍… in the best possible way. I could never tolerate tretinoin regardless of how slowly I tried to ease into it. My eyes swelled shut from it despite never applying it anywhere close to or on the eyes. When I ended up with perioral dermatitis from it I threw it in the bin 😖
I'm 45 & I've been on a tretinoin & glycolic journey for 5 years, tretinoin pm, glycolic am & of course, sunscreen. The first three months was a gradual increase until I worked up to daily use. I completely agree with you! The improvements are impressive & I wish I had started sooner, but for those claiming tretinoin as the miracle when they are having regular interventions & treatments, is just dishonest.Thank you for this video ❤
On the contrary it destroyed my skin .I waited for 2 years before discontinuing usage . Trust me I used it by all rules set by Dr dray and any other skin specialist .but yeah it worsened my acne as I was mainly using it to control my mild acne .left me with pitted scars as before my acne healed beautifully leaving no scar or hyperpigmentation. So please understand it is not for everyone. I started using weak retinol, then progressed to adaplene 2 daily ,then after 3 weeks 3 times daily for 4 months then tretnoin 0.025 1 daily for 1 month then slowly increasing usage and have been consistently using 0.05 for 5 times a week for 2 years waiting for it to work but yeah .I regret ever trying it. Increased hyperpigmentation on my face due to continous irritation. Plz plz plz it is not for even
Unfortunately, many will say anything just to be able to sell more of their products. Thanks for being so informative, Wayne. You look as handsome as ever.
I'm 47 and have used for 9 years erased my crows feet and brown spots. My skin looks great everyone always ask me. I never had any procedures done. I would never stop using
Been using Tretinoin for 13 years now..68 now. Had extremely sundamaged skin. Now no sunspots, no wrinkles. I look probably 60, not a miracle cream but I do have lovely skin for my age.
Thank you SO much for speaking out on this!!!…RUclips is so full of crap lately!!!..,they are becoming more and more obsessed with promoting products, having things done to their faces and lying their asses off about not doing it!!!!…I will be 68 in July, and thank God I am still here!..many of my friends and family have not lived to see this age!..I am so disheartened by social media and how the world has become obsessed with looking younger!!!..we all look our age, get used to it and move the f*ck on with life!!!…you made my day Wayne with this video..,finally someone speaking truth and calling RUclips out!!!!!…much love and appreciation to you!💜
Lately? Since the beginning, RUclips has been a platform for those who wanted to entertain and for those who wanted to help people by sharing their knowledge. It’s also a readily available spotlighted stage for narcissistic attention seekers, shills, grifters, self-styled “experts”, and exhibitionists. When there are no gatekeepers with even minimal input, EVERYONE gets through, especially the opportunistic phonies. Shallow, looks-obsessed people have always been around and social media like RUclips has made it easy for them to get cheap fame and an air of legitimacy that fame confers.
100% Wayne - you nailed it! The other thing I've seen is people showing before and after pictures singing the praises of Tretinoin and I'm magnifying the picture and squinting to see what they are seeing, and I'm not seeing anything. I also think sometimes it's the "sunk cost fallacy" - you've put all this time and money into it so you have to believe it was worth it. Can it help smooth out the overall appearance of skin - 100% it can. Can it stop the aging process. No it cannot - even botox and fillers can't do that.
Exactly. For people with real skin issues, like bad melasma/pigmentation, sun damage or acne/acne scars, once they sort them out it's a huge difference. However, if skin doesn't have any prominent issues, it's hardly any difference. I agree that people have self induced placebo in majority of cases - they talk themselves into believing that they have great results. I've been watching people with equally large pores and not so great texture after decades of using retinoids. They feel those are great results, because one scar is less prominent or few discolorations are gone. And those results suppose to be worth decades of skin barrier challenging, damages, inflammation, sensitivities, irritations, tons of money for 'good' product and equally good SPF since you can't enjoy life without bathing ten times a day in sunscreen, once you are on retinoids. Is it really worth it? I'd say - if your skin is not reactive, if using retinoid is not a torture for you and you truly see results and feel better about yourself - by all means. However, please consider visiting a professional and trying out in-office treatment, before you embark on tretinoin journey. One chemical peel, as horrendous as down time may be in a sense of peeling, can save you ton of money and patience for tretinoin to give you results. Especially if you have scarring, deep wrinkles, or prominent discolorations.
@@blueice011OMG! Are you my long lost twin? I feel exactly the same way about sunscreen and the notion that if we walk from the parking lot to the door we are going to instantly get sun damage or skin cancer. I’ve even been told working from my home office I should wear sunscreen even if I don’t go outside. 🤦🏼♀️And I live in Canada. And I adore my in office chemical peels. 😊
Well said. I have been using Retin A since the 1980's and my skin is in excellent shape. Aside from Vitamin C, I have used nothing else on my skin; no lasers, fillers or botox. Women I do not know will endlessly say I must have had botox and fillers. It's damned if you do; damned if you don't
Thank you, Wayne! You’re one of the few RUclipsrs who tells it like it is and doesn’t try to sugarcoat something or make it seem better than it is. Sincerely appreciate your perpetual honesty!!!
I practically begged my dermatologist a week ago for Tretinoin to get rid of my sun damage spots (half dollar size on each cheek). She said it takes a long time to work. Maybe because I'm 74 she thought I should do something with quicker results so I could enjoy it before I'm being cremated!! 😂 And no she didn't try to talk me into laser treatment. She made suggestions, no hard sell.
There are chemical peels you could try. A nurse at my job (I'm an assistant nurse) works part time as a dermatologist and he gives my collegues (those who need/want it) treatments on their breaks etc. It only takes a couple of minutes and the treated skin will peel off within a week and during that time you'll have to use a thick crème and avoid the sun. When the new spotless skin comes to the surface you'll have to use sunscreen everyday but that is something one should do anyway.
@tessltaekook8501 Yes, I do apply sunscreen every day. A relative recently shared pictures of his face after using a topical cream. I can't remember the name of it. But he did send me a picture of the tube.
It's not too late to start tret, after just a year you will get noticeable improvement in texture and tone, and past two years you will keep getting improvement in fading of sun spots. You also have to cover up from the sun. If you have the money, you can get a deep chemical peel at a derm's office, which requires down time but it will improve the sun damage dramatically.
I’ve been watching your channel for at least 12/13/14 years (?!!??) and you’re still my favorite out there. Always kind and respectful but always addressing things without BS!!! ❤
Again, thank you Wayne for your honesty. I'm sure you'll get a lot of feedback from this. 🤷♀️😉 Especially from those denying what they've done to their faces. It's a blessing and privilege to grow old. Why can't we just do it gracefully?😏😘
The women you're talkimg about is just expressionless. She doesn't have botox, she was showing crows feet and wrinkles on her forehead when she's expressing more motion on her face. She's a calm, stoic person without need for too mich face emotion.
Lol pls talking forever and in every video no expression? BS Lots of Botox and fillers. And as a woman I can say there is no woman in the world that if she is natural not be expressive. Let’s be real not be fools
I'm so glad you put this out there, Wayne! I started making my own skincare line a few years ago, and one of the things I had to do was to (one by one) drop everything else from my old skincare routine in order to get a legitimate result. It is absolutely necessary if you want to say that a product actually works. Thank you for putting this out there!
It is refreshing to just embrace your looks and not run from time passing, I do some skin care but I am 63 let’s be real. Older women can still embrace their beauty. I cannot use retinal not once a week or even just twice my skin becomes bright red and irritates my eyes. It is ok to be old and look that way. Have an awesome day and weekend. Live in the moment just breathe maybe a picnic? Take care and stay safe. Don’t forget to take care of you.❤❤❤❤
This. People think they're going to beat the grim reaper, and no one ever has. Looking older is normal, and I'm grateful that I can walk and and care for myself....many people can't.
@@queenbunnyfoofoo6112taking care of your skin is important to your health. It's the largest organ on your body. Young skin cells turn over faster. Tretinoin keeps your skin turning it over at a faster rate. There is no argument that it's important to the health of your skin
@@marielfalk4537 I didn't say don't take care of your skin. My point (and the other poster's) is that NO ONE who is 60 can look 30. Women are propagandized to fear natural aging. Not everyone can use Tretinoin, nor can they afford it ( some prefer to spend their money on something else). The idea that society has normalized the idea of injecting botulism into your face or other unnatural stuff in there is sad. The best way to take care of your skin is to eat a healthy diet, exercise, don't smoke and wear sunscreen. Not only will your skin be healthy, the inside of you will be too.
@@marielfalk4537actually, for most people, their skin turns over just fine for proper function. I think you are confusing aesthetics and true health. My mom is very old and wrinkly but her skin barrier is shockingly strong, and she only applies face moisturizer when she has peeling skin. She has had zero facial skincare her entire life, she has had three skin cancer spots removed, and rarely used SPF on pale skin, and her skin barrier is healthy. Our skin really doesn't need much. When people died of skin injuries and problems, it was because of infection. Usually people with painful or life threatening skin issues have complex illnesses like AIDS. No one otherwise healthy is suffering physically because they didn't use tretinoin 😂 I fear for a generation who thinks that not being hot is an illness 😂
I think a lot of ppl in the comments are misunderstanding Wayne’s statement. He’s not saying tret isn’t amazing for the skin, it is and I use tret myself. But when we’re watching videos of creators where their muscles in the face aren’t moving and it’s clear they’ve had Botox then that is exactly what he’s talking about. We know a lot of you haven’t had a procedure and therefore this statement doesn’t apply to you. But it’s the creators that are blatantly lying saying tret has done miracles for their skin when actually they’ve had other aesthetic work along side tret.
Luv ur honesty, I don't believe that the hype some people really think we're stupid tretinoin does work, but only to a certain extent, it's not a miracle cream. Thanks Wayne
I don't watch those ridiculous videos anymore either. I feel like it's just click bait! Years ago I used to enjoy watching an over 50 RUclipsr, h*t & fl*shy. She would test drugstore products and makeup that most women could afford. Now that she's gotten so popular and tons of subscribers, all she does is hawk skincare that I'm sure she gets paid for doing and hawks $60 blush and $75 eye shadow pallets she gets FREE sent to "influencers." She has been somewhat forthcoming about lasers and other procedures but I don't think tells the full story. No thanks! I unsubscribed and quit watching a few years ago. In fact, I got fed up with influencers everywhere on social media and YT! All the filters and editing they do is infuriating. It's so drastic, we'd never recognize them if we saw them in person!
I so appreciate your videos and reality checks. I'm in my 50's, have not had anything corrective (Botox, fillers, peels etc) but I've considered asking my dermatologist for Tretinoin. I haven't because I've wondered just how much I can expect from it - and you've answered my question. Thank you! :)
Thanks for your honesty. Due to COVID, as many people, I've watched a ton of videos on beauty. I've noticed one thing. We can look younger for our age, but we all age. No 40 year old will ever look like a 20 year old. I love make up and skincare. As someone who had terrible psoriasis as a kid, I'm grateful for the clear skin I have. I didn't get wrinkles early but I am getting them and a part of feeling good was accepting some aging. I think worrying about age too much causes so much anxiety, it's not worth it. I do think knowing what can and cannot be achieved and being realistic with your own skin is the key to a happier existence.
I agree I have never used botox or fillers, plastic surgery. Tretinoin is what I use and I honestly look I am in my 40’s, I am 55. I cannot afford botox and wouldn’t want anything injected but yes I agree, those ladies in their 60’s have used more. And I never believe at my age not using Botox I would look that young.
Great PSA! Important to point this out so people have reasonable expectations. Tret is awesome, proven, but isn't magic and requires a ton of disciple to use (and tolerate!) regularly.
Thank you for mentioning how botox effects don't necessarily wear off as fast-I see influencers my age (40s) that will constantly be like 'I haven't had botox in 6 months so that's all worn off' & from my personal experience, while yes, it does start losing effect after a few months, it's still not back to baseline. Even 6 or more months later. And that was after 1 time, & you figure these people have been getting it for years. Ofc everyone is different, but I'm sure if we've had that experience, others have as well.
Appreciate your insight, always! This tickled me 😆I just can't get over how the person couldn't even move their face and was leaving out the other factors in their anti aging cocktail.
Most healthy were if we start cherishing our unique beauty and every line in our face that marks that we live our life.. It's very good to care for oneself (and each other).. But life isnt about perfection ❤
Wayne is so right about Botox smoothing your skin. I heard it from a Dermatologist that her smoothest skin ever has come from Botox. Not lasers nor peelings have done that much for her skin. Truly amazing 😮
People need to watch the video first before commenting! And Wayne, I agree with you! People need to have realistic expectations with Tretinoin. And, influencers are more than likely to have access to heavy duty treatments that cost a lot!
Tretinoin helps me with some of the texture but not really with deep wrinkles . Only Botox helps me with that. I don’t get Botox very often. It’s too expensive. I keep to the lowest strength. Going higher caused too much dryness. I’m 60
Wayne, you are so right. These products have been advertised as miracle products and they help but it’s the user’s skin and the care they have taken in the past that tells the final story. Thank you for your honesty.
I only use mild retinol at the most. Tret gives me headaches and it caused volume loss when I gave it a 18 month trial run. I'm a qualified beauty therapist and healthcare worker in Australia (early 40's)
You’re such a good guy Wayne! I hope you never stop making videos. To me you are also the epitome of a handsome man, part genes, part good skin care? I don’t know, just happy you share your very good advice with us. Thank you!
great point, and it goes for all procedures - it's always a combo, if the result is really that striking, and they've probably been consistent and started early. It also pays to understand your own face, and to have a very good doctor with access to the right tools for your own concerns. Skin is not the only thing people target when they go for professional anti-aging, but they can target veins, fat, muscles, bone etc
I watch a beautiful looking lady , i believe her when she says shes has no procedures done , but has been using tretinion since her early 20's . She is a testament of how tretinion is amazing ,her name is MELLISSA 55 . SHE IS 69 YRS OLD .
I like her too. She is, above all, a very beautiful woman. That's what make her results more prominent than those her close acquaintances have. She would be striking without tretinoin as well.
Some time ago, I saved two videos to my Beauty playlist, in which Melissa55 contradicted herself. In one of those, she claimed she didn't use Tret because of her Chron's disease and everything she presented was natural. After seeing Wayne's vid here, I went looking for it in my playlist and realised those videos are now hidden/unavailable.
I so agree with you. One influencer raves about how she does not have wrinkles around her eyes anymore, but she has had peels, a laser treatment AND Botox!
Yes there are quite a few of them out there. How about the ones that try out and do the reviews for different products. How can they tell if there's any changes when their skin is so perfect to start with? Lol
Thank you!! I’ve been using Tretinoin for 10-12 years…I’m 62. I’ve struggled wondering why my results aren’t as others I see on RUclips have achieved. So you’ve confirmed what I thought ! Unfortunately the Botox created terrible eye lid droop for me, even with injections by two reputable dermatologist / plastic surgeons. So I’ll just continue and be happy with what results I have! 😉 good video!
I'm in my sixties and have used tretinoin for some years, but recently been using bakuchiol cream (Boots chemist own brand) in the morning this has helped smooth my skin better than the tretinoin, without side effects.
Hello Wayne, thank you for this. Today everyone not just women are facial skin obsessed that's to this crazy social media craze and it all started with the selfies.
Thank you Wayne for your honesty. I have stopped watching a lot of youtubers as they are promoting the next facial routine then they are filling their faces full of crap. You cant trust what they say. Rant over 😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Wayne. This is very reaffirming. I’m also convinced it’s all down to 1. genes and SPF, and 2. how much access one has to (or if one wants to access) all the skin things.
Im 48 and not had anything ‘ done’ to my skin yet. I’m not saying never, however I’m happy using retinol for now. I’m working up to prescription tretinoin. Personally I love to see expressions on people . Laughter lines and smile lines are attractive in my opinion. Thanks for keeping it real as usual ❤
I used prescription tretinoin for a few months... I started to experience sharp pains in my legs and body aches! Soon after stopping, all syptoms went away. Just to make sure, a few months later I gave it another shot... same scenario. Never again!
I am 35 have been using tretinoin for 10 years. Never botox. Never lasers or peels. Trying to quit smoking. I just started to see small static wrinkles on the forehead and side of eyes. Tretinoin is definitely not a miracle worker for me. My skin has less wrinkles than those around my age but definitely not perfect. Seriously Considering botox now. Thank for shedding light on this.
I’m right there with ya, going 35 this year and using it on and off for the last years, more off than on because the purging is just too much sometimes. I’d love it to work on fine lines too, but I haven’t seen that much yet. If anything it made the under eye even worst. It has improved my skin texture tremendously though, so I stick with it 😅
I admire Jennifer Meyers and how honest she has been with Tretinoin for skin and Castor Oil for eyelashes. My life has changed after that. She is the only person who speaks facts.
You are absolutely right. We will all get old. I work on having good skin. I hate the botoxed look. It is not natural, in my opinion. Great video Wayne.
I started tretinoin about 2 months ago. I totally agree that most of what you see is more than just the tretinoin. I have noticed an over all smoothing of my skin although I still have wrinkles. Plus you look amazing!! I have loved your videos for years!!
Absolutely correct, I have been thinking the same, how can one achieve one result when they claim different products helped them every time. And they have a warehouse of discount code under their posts. Same goes for fitness influencers!!! Think about our teenagers and younger generations who believes and follow them. can't even fathom. Its like a cult. I am glad Wayne is still around and has not left RUclips to shred light!!
I'll be 62 in the fall, and i watch all these makeup influencers talking about all the different products they use on their skin. And honestly i have no desire to try any of it. You can tell that they all have had work done. Its not the products they are using! Ive never had anything done to my face. To me its all chemicals. Like botox, fillers, etc... You are a slave to these things!. Once u start u have to continue to do it! Thats not for me. I will grow old gracefully and continue using clean products on my skin. For a woman my age i think i have beautiful skin at least thats what ive been told. And im proud of that!

Hi. I agree with you Wayne. I also just want to say, getting wrinkles anyplace that wrinkles up when you smile- Consider yourself lucky. You've probably been smiling and laughing alot in life.
I really think we all as RUclipsrs need to call out those in our field of knowledge that are making up nonsense for clicks. Always been a long term fan. I really like this out of the bell curve one!
Of course, not mentioning the person you critiqued who triggered your rant. Many think they know who it is. I've just checked out some of her vids. Her personality is low-key, disciplined type, well-spoken/articulate. She does not much visually express emotions with facial contortions. Her various videos has addressed these allegations. Also, she has been truthful about her past personal health issues. I believe her.
He doesn't need to mention her in his video. He's not being in any way disrespectful. He brings up VERY valid points and her videos do pop up all the time.
I believe her as well. She is autistic and that may have something to do with her facial expressions. And she has gained a little weight as she used to be anorexic. I think the point of Wayne’s video is more about just being careful of all RUclipsrs. Take everything they say with a grain of salt.
These types of videos need to be shown to the youth. Thank you for sharing. There is so much "marketing" and "false claims" on the internet to make sales instead of truth.
You are the greatest Wayne Goss… you are the new consciousness of what people should actually be posting ! Mostly purport lies and misinformation. Thank you as always for raising the bar ! Legendary as always .
I started using .025% Tretinoin about a month ago 3 or 4 nights a week. Haven’t had any bad reactions and my skin texture is already smoother. Wish I had started sooner as I’m in my late 60’s. It’s definitely a game changer!
He’s talking about Jennifer Myers. I am in my late 20s and starting my retinol journey. It appears to me that Tret whilst it is the most studied anti-aging drug, the caveat is that Tret requires chronic sunscreen use which in of itself is the most effective anti-aging treatment. So it’s a chicken and egg conundrum really.
I think so too but she never had Botox injected. She’s just very expressionless lol same with her voice tone, it’s just the way she is. Super chill I think lol
I've been using copious amounts of SPF daily since I was a teenager, and it wasn't until I recently entered six months with tretinoin that I see a big difference in my skin. HUGE difference. I think a lot of others could say the same.
I’m 73 and been using Tretinoin 0.05 (not the highest percentage) for 6 years. I don’t do any in office procedure’s, and never have. I just use skincare I can afford and do at home. I have nice skin for 73, which is nice, but I’m not expecting to look 10 years younger.
I agree with you 100%! I’ve never seen a line disappear because of tretinoin use. As a matter of fact, I get new lines every year (I’m 50) Lol! I think tretinoin CAN help with texture and discoloration issues because it increases the rate of cell turnover. However, I think elasticity and volume loss is the biggest culprit when it comes to our aging faces.☹️ I will still continue to use it, but I’m glad you made this video! 😊❤️🌺
I found the video you were referring to 🤦🏼♀️ Scrolling the comments too had me concerned. So many people & (some gullible people) hanging on her every word. So many questions from her subscribers going left with no replies. I genuinely hope they have enough brains to do their research before jumping in head first. So many good Derms/ professionals online & social media that offer quality advice. Great video Wayne…… someone had to say it 👏🏻
@@gloriakimani8230 Ooh, thank you! I found it, "my 22-year experience." So curious who it was and exactly what was claimed. LOL Other than Wayne, who's an actual makeup artist, I take what "influencers" say with a grain of salt and don't even waste my time watching anymore to earn them $$ from views and mostly a bunch of lies and filters and editing on the camera/pics.
I've got such sensitive skin that I haven't ever tried it. I can't use retinol either without inflaming the skin on my face badly. Luckily, I'm aging pretty good. Just a few fine lines around my eyes. I think I'll just try to age gracefully.
Idk if it would be for you, but for my rosacea my derm recommended applying retinols for 5 minutes and then removing it, and then a soothing moisturizer. Before then I had tried to apply the same cream and had to heal my skin for a week. But by only keeping it on for 5 minutes at a time, i got some of those good effects without the burn.
Ooooohhhhhh my god !!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for this vidéo, it s totally true, so much lies on skincare videos about tretinoin and its benefits on the skin, so much before and after photos not realistic………… thank you .i m using tretinoin and hydroquinone from a dermatologiste for my hyperpigmentation and tretinoin is a very good product for many things but my wrinkles are still over there , and i m happy with my skin 😊
I completely agree with you, it’s not a miracle product. Aging is a combination of things such as changes in bone structure, loss of volume, texture, and complexion. I am 35 and I’ve been using tretinoin for about 10 years. For me, Tretinoin alone was great about delaying the starting signs of aging. My texture and complexion have remained the same for years. In the past 2years, my 11(genetic) have been showing lightly (because of fat loss and tension in the area) I’ve been using Botox for that. I think we have to be realistic about the treatment to our concerns. You don’t use a band aid when you need a cast.
Great video Wayne. I’ve been using Tretinoin for 3 years. I don’t expect miracles I just want to maintain what I already have. I’m 72 and love my skin. I would never have any kind of Botox or fillers. You are looking especially handsome btw 😊
Yes! Some of these youtubers have had all that plus a bleph! Some of them are outright lying. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
Also, red light therapy. Great video!!!

Hi, what’s P50? Thank you
What is p50 I'm trying to learn please
P50 is acid by Biologique Recherche.
Same! I’m 75, been using it for 30 years and I have zero wrinkles!
MaryEllen
I agree! ❤
❤
That's fine. You can make that claim, they cannot (and definitely not publicly with pictures) make the claims that tret is entirely responsible for the appearance of their faces.
What a lovely sage comment
I am so glad you have spoken out. It makes me so angry about these influencers who act like they only use creams when you know that they have had botox and everything else. Just be honest! I have only used tretinoin and creams. I just went to a dermatologist for the first time 6 months ago for a basal carcinoma on my shoulder. I am 67 years old. She asked me what I use on my face and I told her Tretinoin. She said, you have great skin. I have wrinkles, dark circles, redness around nose. Tretinoin is not the cure all but it definitely helps.
I agree
@@Corrans I've never had any fillers, Botox or any plastic surgery whatsoever, I don't use any creams other than petroleum jelly. Can you guess my age?
Your so right.
True. These people make me feel like an “ugly duckling.” I take good care of my skin. I have earned my wrinkles. .Would I have a facelift, if affordable. Hell yeah!
Agree with you. And it is worst when other women believe the influencer’s lies and fight with other women. Foolishness
I love your honesty, Wayne! These influencers think we're stupid and don't remember their previous videos.
Well put
Most celebs that sell skin creams .. or got on vogue and do their make up and gush about all the products they use . While they have a full face of Botox or fillers . I can see it 😂
💯!
Been using Tretinoin on and off for 20 yrs. My skin is great…for a 55yr. old. Smooth and glowy.
However, it has ‘not’ prevented static wrinkles appearing AND it hasn’t prevented sagging at cheek/jowl areas.
Certainly it’s fantastic stuff but has its limitations.
shoot...i have been holding off on tretinoin, to prepare for pregnancy. I actually thought it was going to be holy grail for future wrinkles :(
That’s because tret does not prevent fat and bone loss.
My experience as well
I think at this point, we should all know, absolutely everything an influencer says has to be taken with a grain of salt. It is their job to push things. Period. ( their job description is influencer, that is a huge clue)
Yes hard to know what truly works.
😂👍🏼
If they look and feel 5 years younger and that makes them happy, I don't see a need to cut people down because it's not dramatic enough to impress YOU.
no one is getting tretinoin sponsors though lol
I starts using retinoids in my 20s because it helped with my adult acne. I use it now because I like the way my skin looks without makeup more when I’m using it regularly. However, I do have to acknowledge that my skin is probably as good as it is because of my 82 year old mother, who has gorgeous, smooth, plump skin after a lifetime of irregular sunscreen use. Sometimes genetics really does trump everything else.
It absolutely does!
You've said it perfectly. I know my mum is 73 and nobody believes her.
Nobody believes I'm 47...I'm really not bragging. I'm just stating that, in the end, it comes down to genetics. Of course we can help with a good skincare, but skincare is not be-all and end-all.
Agreed!
That's correct 💯

I think some are missing the point: Wayne essentially put out a PSA for everyone. He’s completely correct. This is “Watcher Beware.” Thankfully the people my age or older that I watch are generally pretty honest about procedures they have or have not done. I can’t afford any of it. Skincare and at-home things I can do are it for me. I’m perfectly happy with that. Thank you, Wayne! 😊
Thankyou for your sensible advice. Im 65, use tretinoin and have good skin. Aging, getting lines etc etc but I'm cool with looking older, with good skin! ❤
Exactly! Thank you for commenting that. I don’t want to spend money or time on all the things. I like Wayne’s sound advice too. 😊

Melissa, you're the poster child for the results of long-term tretinoin use! ❤

Did you use retinol/retinal before starting to use tretinoin?
@v.k.6359 No, straight to tretinoin but I gradually increased, from once a week to nightly
What brand of glycolic do you use? The one I have used for years - and love - has been discontinued so I am on the hunt for a replacement.
Which glycolic acid are you using?

When there are no gatekeepers with even minimal input, EVERYONE gets through, especially the opportunistic phonies. Shallow, looks-obsessed people have always been around and social media like RUclips has made it easy for them to get cheap fame and an air of legitimacy that fame confers.
Thank you Wayne 💙
I needed to read this lol.
Oh yes it can!!! I'm living proof.
it can make you look younger by how great it makes the skin, but people should disclose botox that will be dong a lot of heavy lifting
It works, but you need to give it time. Gradually increase the concentration to 0.1%, and after two years, you will be amazed by the results.

I am 73, started Tretinoin at 67. My sun spots are lighter but not completely gone. Tretinoin is helpful but it won’t completely remove dark spots
Try vitamin C. It worked for me.

It is refreshing to just embrace your looks and not run from time passing, I do some skin care but I am 63 let’s be real. Older women can still embrace their beauty.
@@queenbunnyfoofoo6112 Oh yes. People can be looking 30 when they are 60. Especially men. So stop lying.

I’m so happy to see this. Thank you. Wondering why I have seen zero difference after a few months.

Works wonders for me…started in it as a teen with acne…now as a 55 year old it’s a miracle wrinkle cream
I wish it worked for me. It made my skin terrible and now I have chronic eczema on my cheeks 😢
@@joanna0988 do you have a biotin deficiency
I love how honest you are. I always look at influences necks and hands. That shows their true age.
Luv ur honesty, I don't believe that the hype some people really think we're stupid tretinoin does work, but only to a certain extent, it's not a miracle cream.
Thanks Wayne
Love your transparency, Wayne - we need a lot more of this online
I've seen this type of thing also. Idon't watch any of these anymore. You are always honest, and it is most appreciated!
It's true. I have used tretinoin for years and the wrinkles were still forming. I then got botox and finally those wrinkles left!
Whatever you are doing or using, dear Wayne, does not matter, because you are handsome!
You’re such a good guy Wayne! I hope you never stop making videos. To me you are also the epitome of a handsome man, part genes, part good skin care? I don’t know, just happy you share your very good advice with us. Thank you!
I personally think it’s good to accept age, just eat well and take care of yourself.❤
great point, and it goes for all procedures - it's always a combo, if the result is really that striking, and they've probably been consistent and started early.
I love Melissa. She is perfect!
She has also been on HRT which helps immensely in keeping women youthful. She is beautiful indeed.
Except not a muscle moves on her forehead...
Lol
So thankful that you shared this for those who may have unrealistic expectations...
@@jillkemp5521Which bakuchiol product do you use?
Hello Wayne, thank you for this. Today everyone not just women are facial skin obsessed that's to this crazy social media craze and it all started with the selfies.
Thank you Wayne for your honesty. I have stopped watching a lot of youtubers as they are promoting the next facial routine then they are filling their faces full of crap. You cant trust what they say. Rant over 😊
Yea. I’m do sick of young ppl selling skincare stuff. Ugh.
Many thanks for keeping it real, Wayne. It's easy to fall into the hype.
Thank you! I appreciate credible influencers giving us the entire story in order to allow us to make a more informed decision
Thank you for raising awareness of the full picture. Reassuring and honest x
You need to wait a year for wrinkles to start diminishing
Absolutely correct, I have been thinking the same, how can one achieve one result when they claim different products helped them every time. And they have a warehouse of discount code under their posts. Same goes for fitness influencers!!! Think about our teenagers and younger generations who believes and follow them. can't even fathom. Its like a cult. I am glad Wayne is still around and has not left RUclips to shred light!!
using tret since AGE 23 now 62 it was prescribed for cystic acne. I def. believe tret has helped with aging!!!!
And this is why i love your channel! You call out the BS and clarify the reality for us all! Th only person i trust on youtube for make up and product reviews cause u have no fear of A) addressing th fakeness and B) keeping us looking natural not plastic! Love your truth!.x
Hi. I agree with you Wayne. I also just want to say, getting wrinkles anyplace that wrinkles up when you smile- Consider yourself lucky. You've probably been smiling and laughing alot in life.
Always keeping it real, Wayne! Love your channel! ✌️and 🤍 from 🇨🇦
I really think we all as RUclipsrs need to call out those in our field of knowledge that are making up nonsense for clicks. Always been a long term fan. I really like this out of the bell curve one!
Yes! 🤗 Your honesty and straightforwardness is soooo appreciated!!! ❤ More of this in the world please 🤗
And this is why I always come back around to your videos! You're always very down to earth and so truthful but kind ❤❤❤😘
Hi, who is it?
No, she is definitely lying. I've seen old photos of her on Facebook and her face is much fuller now despite being the same weight.
I believe her as well. She is autistic and that may have something to do with her facial expressions. And she has gained a little weight as she used to be anorexic. I think the point of Wayne’s video is more about just being careful of all RUclipsrs. Take everything they say with a grain of salt.
Has she said she's autistic? @@LisaNix2
These types of videos need to be shown to the youth. Thank you for sharing. There is so much "marketing" and "false claims" on the internet to make sales instead of truth.
Once again, Wayne Goss, the voice of reason...❤
You are the greatest Wayne Goss… you are the new consciousness of what people should actually be posting ! Mostly purport lies and misinformation. Thank you as always for raising the bar ! Legendary as always .
Thank you, Wayne! Really appreciate your honest opinion! Love you ❤
I started using .025% Tretinoin about a month ago 3 or 4 nights a week.
@natural91LC Agreed, she’s “different” and awesome 😎 I really like her spirit.
She’s autistic and I think that may be why she doesn’t use a lot of facial expressions
Also, she has used it since she was 20, and eats a special diet as well. Most people have not used tretinoin since they were that young.
I've been using copious amounts of SPF daily since I was a teenager, and it wasn't until I recently entered six months with tretinoin that I see a big difference in my skin. HUGE difference. I think a lot of others could say the same.
It’s one of the many things we love about you Wayne. You’re so honest, genuine and authentic💕
We all need to work on being beautiful inside. Physical beauty doesn't last. Spiritual beauty lasts forever.
God bless you for your honesty and integrity

I appreciate your honest telling-it-like-it-is. So many other sources mislead us.
I've got such sensitive skin that I haven't ever tried it. I can't use retinol either without inflaming the skin on my face badly. Luckily, I'm aging pretty good. Just a few fine lines around my eyes. I think I'll just try to age gracefully.
My thoughts are almost anyone can use tretinoin. But you have to put in the work. Start with lowest % for 1 hour a day. Over a year work up.
Work in aesthetics and sell Tretinoin. Tretinoin does come in a gel form that’s best suited for sensitive skin as it’s a slower release. 💜
