this is so refreshing compared to tik tok where you’re made to feel like you need a billion products, it all comes down to simplicity and i wish i realised that sooner
@mollynavarro4101absolutely she taught me about the importance of controlling the root cause of bad skin which is diet and stress, then of course a simple skincare routine
I mean it’s pretty obvious TikTokers are only pushing out products because of sponsorships and commission and you know what’s worse 99% of tiktokers and even RUclips reels now are using filters while showing their products which make it even more misleading
I noticed that no matter whiw amazing and expensive products I buy, they will not save my skin from bad diet, stress and lack of sleep. I started prioritising food and relaxed lifestyle and that made a huge difference.
70% healthy skin comes from healthy lifestyle (nutritious diet, good sleep, exercise, 2l of water, less processed food and sugar), 30% comes from cleansing, moisture and protection like sunscreen)
Hi Jennifer, I used Tretinoin in my late 20’s and did it too hard & strong. Many thanks to you for inspiring me to try again. At 70, I started low and slow, and my skin is loving the product. What a difference. Thank you sweet girl!
I went to pick up my tret the other day and the pharmacist told me to not use it every day or it will make my skin dry and the product will stop working . I’m like so confused on the information I keep being given . I’ve been on tret since I was 23 lol I’m now 29😭 Buuuut yeah I don’t understand I mean if I stop tret for a couple months or even weeks I’ll peel again but if I do it daily I will stop peeling
I’m currently living in Seoul and I love how Korean skincare focuses on mild, calming, and barrier-friendly skincare products. Very effective, yet non-irritating
I started Tretinoin and sunscreen about 2 years when I first came across Jen (Thanks for that). I’m a month shy of 30 and still get mistaken for a teen… but I’m also half East Asian, so that may play in to that. I also believe in simplicity with simple active ingredients and watching/listening what your skin is saying. I’m based in London and I just use the “Simple” range of skincare… super affordable and simple. And a nice affordable sunscreen designed for the face… I use “the Altruist, face fluid” about 12 USD a month… Anyone new to skincare, this RUclipsr knows her stuff! Thanks Jen!
She makes an excellent point here. A lot of influencers on social media use so many products I don't understand how they know what's actually working for them. And it's so important when you have reactive skin to only use limited number of products that work.
I’m 49 and stumbled across your skincare routine about a year ago while researching what to do. I ordered the products and have been consistently doing it since after never having a skincare routine in the past. The difference in my skin texture and appearance is amazing. Thank you for your simple and doable guidance. It’s made a huge difference in my confidence. I actually prefer my face without makeup now!!!
Same lol, until my 25s, I have used a full face of makeup, then I gradually started to give up on it, and now at 33 I rather prefer how my skin looks without it, thank God. I just use sunscreen, translucent powder and a tinted lip balm. If I go to an event and wanna feel fancy, I'll add a little peachy blush on my cheeks and brush my eyebrows :))
Your videos are understated perfection - calm, direct, no annoying background music… a million thank yous. Hope you continue to share your wisdom with us.
I am one of those people with a 20 step skincare routine 🤣. But I love it, it's my me time and I enjoying trying new things. The only holy grail product that is a permanent part of my everyday beauty routine is a prescription tretinoin, the rest change all the time
yes i feel like if it works for you then we shouldn't be villainizing it!! my skin was so dry before i started incorporating more hydrating steps into my routine, and now, it is feeling much healthier and is able to tolerate actives better without being very dry
Yes!! Do what you want and whatever works for you! I made a point in the video to say what I said (that we all have different indulgences and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that as long as it’s sustainable for you and makes you happy). I’m certainly not the gatekeeper of what people should or shouldn’t spend their money on. I’m glad that you said, “But love it” - that’s what matters!!
Hada Labo oil for cleansing, especially makeup removal - no film or stinging. Beauty of Joseon for sunscreen (also, Australian gold tinted). Moisturizers - CeraVe PM or The Ordinary good old NFA/HA as it's not greasy or pilling. Unscented argan oil is nice for very dry nights. I love CereVe Healing ointment for lips or irritated spots.
100% agree that less is more when it comes to skincare. In the AM: I wash my face with warm water and then apply vitamin C serum and an SPF 50+. In the PM: I take my make up off with Micellar water, cleanse my face with Cetaphil cleanser. Then I alternate between adapalene (Differin), glycolic acid, or lactic acid as my active. Then I finish with Cerave PM moisturizer. I plan on starting Tretinoin soon.
I have been using differin 4 days in a week, then alter 5% glycolic two times in a week. But may be too intense for two times glycolic in a week, a bit burned up 😅😢now recovering. So I would like to know how often shall we incorporate glycolic acid with differin. Thanks ❤
@@tiffanysin300 The first several weeks for me was rough lol My face felt raw and burned but slowly got acclimated. Instead of using glycolic and retinoids together, try using just one active ingredient for a few months. I like to alternate adapalene for a few months and then glycolic or lactic acid for a few months.
@@SuzyQ1129thank you for your input and sharing. I guess I'll try only differin gel for 3 months, and at the same time use glycolic once in a month for the texture. But I'm thinking of using 0.025%tretinoin after 3 mths. However I heard Jen mentioned both indeed give us the same result in the long run.
I was sold the hype of needling a billion of skin care products in my collection and I bought it all up. Now I am trying to use it all up and then simplify my routine. I just turned 36 and I use a skin cleanser, vitamin C serum or Night repair by Estée Lauder, a Retinoid crème, a moisturizer and castor oil + Vaseline. Sometimes I do an AHA or BHA and ofc sunscreen.
I started Tretinoin since I was 18, and was using Differin before that. My hero products are: AM Cleanser: Cetaphil Gentle Acne Cream Cleanser AM Serum: Timeless 20% VitaminC Sunscreen: EltaMD UV Elements Tinted / Kose Suncut gel sunscreen / Australian Gold Botanical Tinted BB Sunscreen. PM Cleanser: Hado Labo oil cleanser (the yellow one) PM Serum: The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin Serum PM Retinoid: Tretinoin 0.05% PM Moisturizer: DRMTLGY Peptide Night Cream. Jennifer your teeth are perfect! Could you talk us through how you keep them looking so bright? ❤
Can I wax my face while being on tretinion I am not a shaving person and thats why I am hesitant in using tretinion and also will my skin be sensitive towards makeup
In the morning I wash my face with my dermatologist prescribed benzoyl peroxide face wash, I then use a 20% vitamin C + vitamin E + ferulic acid serum on my face and then a 5% caffeine serum under my eyes. I then finish with Cetaphil oil free SPF 35 moisturizer. At night I wash again with the same benzoyl peroxide facewash and then apply tretinoin to my face and neck, and an eye serum with yerba mate, caffeine and hyaluronic acid under my eyes. I top it all off with Cetaphil hydrating face moisturizer. 4 steps in the morning and 4 steps at night. I like to keep it simple. I also sometimes use some Vaseline if my face feels dry, especially with using tretinoin. The Vaseline tip I got from you Jennifer.
You guys are gonna crack up, but I've been using Crisco on my face as a moisturizer for over 30 years. And I definitely don't look my age. Think of your skin as a leather sofa. Try and keep it out of harsh weather, and polish it w/oils often. Works very well.
@@membering not really. Lifestyle is sleep. exersice, food, what you drink, stress.. Point is that crisco wont protect your skin from the sun. It will rather do the opposite. Vegetable oil magnifies UV rays from the sun making your skin age faster. Crisco doesnt have anti-aging properties. Nor does it contain any ingredients found in human skin making it suitable for that job Using crisco is not just bad advice, it is potentially harmful advice
1. Bioderma Sensibio H2O (the only one micellar water my skin can tolerate... it is great. Garnier burns my skin like hell) 2. Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser / Cerave Hydrating Oil cleanser (it is a gel, not an oil) 3. Purito Niacinamide serum with galacto ferments 4. Retinaldehyde 0.1% from Ph. Doctor, the best one i have used so far, gave me better results than spanish tretinoin, without irritation and peeling. 5. LRP Cicaplast baume B5 or Uriage Xemose cream 6. Castor oil, mostly for the lashes, when I put it all around the eyes then sometimes i get tiny bumps, but i do put it a little around the eyes as well, not always :) During day sunscreen of course, i have many and i like a lot. I use mostly chemical sunscreens (my rosacea skin loves chemical sunscreens!)
I have dry skin and I used to have a peptide serum and a ceramide cream at different times and I noticed my face would remain hydrated throughout the day. I was able to tell the difference when I couldn’t afford any of them for about 2 years and after repurchasing them, oh yes, what a difference! I also noticed azelaic acid completely calmed down the flared skin I always used to have on the sides of my nose. After watching your videos I started tretinoin 6 months ago and my complexion is so much better now, less pigmentation and texture! So thanks!
I am a 52 year old male. I currently don't have any major wrinkles but my brothers do. I have only ever used two products for my whole body which might make some folks wince. First, I used a lathersome shampoo to wash everything from hair to feet in one go! Second, I then slapped aqueous cream on my face where I even used a bit leftover on my hand for the front of my hair to lift it up a bit! And that has been it for over 30 years. I now however can't help wondering if my face would've looked better if I too had used a retinoid and other products especially sunscreen that were actually dedicated for my face? I think I'm at the age where things start to become noticeable, therefore, I have just started to use a Cerave cleanser and PM moisturiser at night with Differin gel and Cerave AM moisturiser in the morning. Apart from now spending more time and money, I've been so used to liberally slapping aqueous cream on my face that using the specified quantities for the Differin gel and moisturisers feels like I'm not using enough to protect myself! Thank you for all your videos including your stretching routines, they have been inspirational so keep up the good work ❤👍
I am a believer as well for a simple skin care routine. Vanicream moisturizer at night followed by 1.0 Tretinoin. Morning is Vitamin C followed by Vanicream and then a facial sunblock. That is it.
I just add Vitamin C in the morning after wash before moisturizers/SPF and snail mucin at night after Retin A before pm moisturizer. I love the simple routine after years of beauty boxes. I came across Jennifer's videos and got back to the good old basic products. Never happier with my skin
Hi Jennifer, I’m not quite sure how I found your channel. But after watching some of your videos on skincare, I believe it’s important that I mention my experience with skincare has always seemed complicated and most often, expensive. I just wanted to say how appreciative I am for your creativity in making these videos. From a male’s perspective, you have changed my entire perception to skincare in a positive way. Thank You!!
AM: Curel oil cleanser, Superdrug Me+ Hyaluronic acid serum, Bioderma Atoderm intensive balm ultra, Canmake Mermaid skin gel(sunscreen) Pm as Am plus Tretinoin 0.05 cream. As you can tell I have very dry skin.
AM: no cleanser (just rinse with water to wake up), ginseng toner, peptide or niacinamide serum, sun screen spf 50, vaseline on the lips. PM: oil cleanser, then a 2nd gentle cleanser, ginseng toner, retinal (it's difficult to get a tretinoine prescription here in Belgium), moisterizer, vaseline on my lips and when I'm feeling it also on my forehead and under my eyes. (+ Once or twice a week I switch the retinal for a lactic acid.)
I’m pretty simplistic with my routine too. My hero products are Tretinoin (get mine through Agency) Cerave Cream or Moisturizing lotion (depending on season), Cerave Hydrating Cleanser and Paula’s Choice Superlight SPF 30. I occasionally use an antioxidant serum in the AM but not always. Tretinoin has by far done the most for my skin and in order to use it daily I need to keep my skin care simple.
I'm not an ophthalmologist or optometrist, but just a normal guy. Just that I've seen reports of it. You can just google "MGD tretinoin" and even some MDs are talking about it. I would love to continue using tretinoin, it's just I'm not sure if the rewards outweigh the risks now... The thing that's scaring me is that it's not reversible if you develop it, like you can't just take a pill and it'll get better. It's permanent. I'm just not sure if facial aesthetics/vanity are more important than healthy eyes now.@@Dr_Hope735
My mom is 60 and not a single wrinkle. Petroleum jelly around the eyes, face taping for 30yrs and tretinoin. Just started tretinoin at 30😊 I love the am& pm cerave lotions and Cetaphil gentle face wash.
@ladyblue4180 she said find what works best for you, she's done all different brands and even used scotch tape for 15yrs before taping became more popular
I've started castor oil on all my face, I thought it would be greasy but it wasnt. I put a soft towel on my pillow in case of staining but all is good. I am a sceptic but let me say it is working beautifully and I've noticed a difference even after four days. Seriously. I previously used it on my eyelashes but stopped but seeing your other video realised i had been doing it all wrong ( i used a mascara wand) So I'm looking forward to those results too. (by the way I'm 65) Thank you so much. Even though I've tried other products I do believe simple and natural is best if at all possible.❤️🇦🇺
@helenaxxxx5015 I'm in Australia and mine is a small bottle from the chemist (cold pressed) and I am purchasing from Australia wholesale oils who make Essential oils and carrier oils. I don't think the brand matters so long as it is cold pressed and in a dark bottle ( the bottle protects the contents)❤️
I have oily, sensitive, dehydrated, acne prone skin. My skin was the best when my skincare only consists of cleanser (Cosrx Low ph), sunscreen, retinol (Cerave Resurfacing Retinol serum), BHA (Paula's choice) and moisturizer (Eucerin Advanced Repair cream). Morning - cleanser, BHA, sunscreen. Night - Cleanser, retinol, moisturizer.
I struggle with eczema. Vanicream products (cleansers, lotion and cream) has been a godsend. I also use Differin very carefully. I also use Vaseline around my eyes and on my lips. I still am trying to find a sunscreen that feels comfortable on my face. That’s proved to be a challenge!
Have you tried vanicream moisturizer with sunscreen? My skin really likes it. Although I don't suffer from eczema, I can't tolerate almost anything, so vanicream is my go-to as well.
Hi Jennifer!! I am going to listen to YOUR tips. Your skin is so radiant, and also I want to spend my money wisely also, so definitely listening to you:)) Can you make a video about body products you use in your skin right after showering? Thanks!!
I’m 54 years old and my holy grail cleanser is Cerave Foaming Oil Cleanser. My skin just seems to love it. I started Retinol pretty late in my life, about 3 years ago, and I have to say it has been a game changer for me. It has absolutely changed my skin. Love your videos, no bs, just straight to the point and so informative. Thank you x
Unfortunately Cetaphil has added niacinamide to all of their formulas, and that is an ingredient some people can't tolerate. The one I have moved to is the Vanicream cleanser. CeraVe also contains that ingredient so if anyone is having trouble with "acne" or contact dermatitis, it might be that
Im one of those people that can’t use castor oil around my eyes or face in general. It breaks me out, and my eyes will sting the next day after application. I use it elsewhere though, like on my abdomen for health benefits.
At the moment, I simply use Bioderma for cleansing (once a day as my skin is very dry, and I never wear make-up or sunscreen - owing to a severe chronic illness). I then use an essence - I like Missha Time Revolution, followed by COSRX Snail Mucin power essence (I don't think this will ever leave my routine it's so good). I then apply just around the eye area Estriol cream (estrogen cream - prescription), and the TNS Skinmedica growth factor serum all over face, neck, chest. After that's soaked in, I use the Skin 1004 probio cica barrier cream, which is excellent: a little goes a long way, it's extremely hydrating and calming owing to the Madecassoside. I tried for awhile using castor oil as last step around eyes but it was irritating, so I'm now using Le Prunier's Plum oil. It's definitely a splurge but so light, effective and smells like marzipan!
I started using tretinoin last year in summer and I like the effect. I try different sunscreens because I want to find my holy grail :) I do enjoy skincare a lot and trying different products so I'm definitely in this category of 4-5 step skincare routine which I love! However, there are 4 things that definitely are the foundation of my skincare routine and it goes in line with yours (which are responsible for 80% of my good skin, the rest is just fluff honestly, on top of nutrition, hydration, activity and good sleep hygiene): 1) good, gentle cleansing 2) sunscreen 3) retinoid 4) rich moisturizing (cannot use tret without good moisturizers personally). I love your simplistic approach. I do use additionally: AM: vit C serum with ferulic acid and vit E, AHA and BHA (couple of times a week, otherwise my dead skin rolls under my fingers from tret), PM: niacinamide / hyaluronic acid serum. Love each step of my skincare routine and it's my time for self love
From age 12 up until age 64, i washed my face twice a day with a facecloth, in the morning with Neutrogena soap and in the evening with just water. I used to use Lubriderm hand / body lotion on my face every morning up until this year when i discovered you and tretinoin! Now i use tretinoin 1 - 2 x a week and differin the rest of the time in the evenings. I'm 65 years old now in 2024. (My profile picture right now is from 2023. Its got a filter that increases contrast and color saturation.) I switched from Lubriderm, which started to sting, to Vanicream. That stuff is so mild and inert. Dr. Dray is where i got the Vanicream rec. I usually use elf suntouchable 50 spf sunscreen primer, and sometimes sun bum clear 50 in the morning. Neither one causes my skin any irritation. Thank you for your recommendations and your calming manner.
@alicecole01 I got the only one I saw in the store I went to. It is in a pump dispenser that says "Vanicream moisturizing cream for sensitive skin" on it. I took Dr. Dray's advice. She recommended Vanicream.
Daytime: cerave foaming cleanser, la roche posay vitamin C cream version, (I skip moisturizer since both vitamin C and my sunscreen provide enough moisture for my oily skin), summer Fridays milk sunscreen Nighttime: cerave foaming cleanser, dermatica customized tretinoin formula, Vichy mineral 89 as my lightweight moisturizer to avoid sensitivity from tretinoin
Cerave hydrating facial cleaner, am Cerave moisturizer with sunscreen and at night Cerave pm moisturizer. Sometimes I put jojoba oil in my morning moisturizer. My dermatologist recommended all these. Been really happy with them
For too many years I believed that I needed multiple products and active ingredients, but also believe simpler is better. I think my skin is so good at age 65 is because I have used Retin-A consistently since I was in high school. I have only recently discovered Castor Oil and love it, but need to mix it with a thinner oil such as argan oil in order to spread it on my face easier. As an unexpected benefit, I found that the castor oil helps with my dry eyes.
I’ve been using La Roche Posay hydrating cleanser and their Toleriane moisturizer- very mild and effective. I try to use differin at night but it seems to irritate my eyes, even though I don’t put it around my eyes. I also will sometimes use Eucerin Q-10 cream, which I love! To take my make up off at night I use Ponds cold cream and a washcloth, then follow with cleanser and moisturizer. Lately I’ve been using Neutrogena sunscreen, I think it’s the sheer mineral 50, doesn’t bother my eyes. Thank you for the video!
My routine MORNING: just water to wash my face, then i use hyaluronic gel on my slightly wet face then my Cetaphil DAM (for ultra dry skin) moisturizer then neutogena sunscreen sometime i use aqualogica sunscreen NIGHT: wash face with cetaphil face wash then dry m face and moisturizer and tretenoin 0.25% in sandwitch method as i have dry skin and then sleep I use tretnoin on alternate days , and use glycolic acid 6% on sundays ADDITIONAL THINGS I DO: as i am a nutritionist i take good and healthy diet , good sleep , and avoid sunexposure after 10 o clock till 5:00 pm, i cover my hair and put heat protecting serum on hair and also wear big stylish cap to cover my hair and face, use umbrella at peak sunlight hours ..sunscreen 3 times a day at 9:00am , 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm (i used to put alarm in my intial months now i just remember) ....use silk pillow (trust me it rly works ) and yes good hydration..no juice only raw fruits ...juices will fluctuate your sugar level & hormonal level also changes ..so eat them not drinking them...bye2 I am 24yrs young😁.. thats my routine and i have been doing this from last 2 years and now everyone ask about the glow i have on my face.. One tip : don't over drink water i have seen my patients doing it ..overdrinking may cause lot of troubles in your body Good luck
I started using tretnoin after watching your videos 2 years ago.. My routine is as simple as your.. AM routine: Cleanser (gentle herbal face soap) Mosturizer (petroleum jelly) Sunscreen Homemade lipbalm In PM routine I use: Cleanser Tretnoin 0.05% Mosturizer Caster oil for eyes Lipbalm. ❤❤❤
Because I have extremely sensitive skin. I use Neutrogena ultra gentle daily cleaner (the foaming one). Then I use benzol perioxide/clindamycin which is prescribed. I then use the moisturizer Vanicream for sensitive skin. I also use adapalene twice a week. I just started to use a Vitamin C cream by Vanicream a week ago. I am only 3 weeks starting out. I never used any facial cleansers or moisturizers due to my sensitive skin. I used Dove soap to wash my face. After getting slight Acne and discoloration, I went to the dermatologist and got on this regimen. So far no more bumps. I did have peeling like crazy for 2 weeks which seemed to stop. Now my facial texture is like a baby's butt! My discolorations are still fading, but look a lot better already!!!! I will never stop with these products. I am now obsessed with good facial health. ❤❤ Thanks for your knowledge and video. ❤
So true... Less is more. My routine is a homemade Green Tea Soap, Toning with Greentea Extract, Moisturizing. At night it's the same routine but I replace the Moisturizer with a retinol cream.
One major life changing habit that improved my skin drastically is cutting down use of make up. My skin literally improved and I stopped breaking out altogether. I still wear occasionally for special occasions but I stopped wearing it daily. I just use cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen now.
I have to keep my skincare simple caz my skin cant tolerate too many layers. So for the AM its : - micellar water - hylauronic acid based lightweight moisturizer - sweatproof sunscreen - an spf lipbalm. And in the PM it's : - micellar water - a hydrating cleanser - a hylauronic acid based lightweight moisturizer - retinol / bpo / lactic acid - castor oil on eyelash ends - boroline on lips.
Love all of it, thank you for not gate keeping and sharing with us your skin care routine ❤ just one remark don’t use castor oil on lips. It darkens the lips, this info is from personal experience and available on google as well.
I use a no name gentle cleanser for sensitive skin, centella ampoule for hydration, and the Hada Labo Tokyo Sunscreen, (which i have to put powder over cause it shines like a lightbulb, but it was the most affordable I could find that doesn't feel greasy or make me look like a ghost or had that awful specific sunscreen smell) Also for the powder I got an affordable one from essence that does the job. And then once a week or once every 2 weeks, I use an AHA+BHA mask.
AM: wash the face only with water no cleanser, LRP hyalu B5, LRP hydrating sunscreen. PM: cerave cleanser, LRP hyalu B5, LRP Lipikar Baume AP+M. Switched to this simple routine after getting skin irritation from using Adapalane. I thought my skin could tolerate Adapalane well and started out using it too frequently... The skin around my mouth and nose was peeling and irritating. My skin has been healing quite well after switching to this routine. La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP+M is my HG! Comes with a big bottle, very hydrating and gentle yet effective in calming down the skin.
I use vitamin C serum in the AM followed by cerave hydrating moisturiser and summer fridays spf30 sunscreen (hero product!!) . Then in the PM if i am wearing makeup i use the ordinary squalane cleanser first, regardless i then use cetaphil gentle skin cleanser (your recommendation!) I then follow with the same moisturiser and then tret 0.05%. I find i can tolerate the tretinion much better that way and also by using aquaphor first as a barrier cream around my eyes, nose and mouth. Thank you for your informative videos!
I do lactic acid and tretinon alternately. I do use a vitamin C serum. On days I missed it I did burn slightly in the tropics despite heavy sunscreen. Currently using Sunday Riley CEO. Love my Asian sunscreens and any moisturiser that will calm things down. Aveeno seems hard to beat.
The Aveeno gentle oat cleanser is the best for my sensitive skin and I only cleanse at night and use only water in the morning. It's what my skin tolerates. then i use moisturiser and sunscreen in the morning and just moisturiser at night but looks to find a sensitive skin friendly retinol to add to my routine
First of all, I want to thank you for all the knowledge and experiences you are sharing. I discovered your channel a few years ago and thanks to you my skin is way better and I've learned how simplicity is far more better in this day where everyone focuses on consumption. My Skincare Routine: Day: CeraVe Cleanser for normal to oily skin, Micellar Water with 3% niacinamide Vivanatura ( it's an romanian brand), CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion A.M and Altruist SPF50. Night: Cerave Cleanser, The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Cerave Moisturising Cream for dry to very dry skin and Castor oil for eye area. Much love
Love retin-a. Everything Eurcerin, I find it soothing and non irritating. Cetaphil cleanser. Sunscreen. Everything else I tried is just playing around.
Having oily, acne-prone skin, my favourite products that I consistently use are cerave foaming cleanser, Oleus oil free moisturizer, adapalene, and my new favorite find Haruharu mineral sunscreen. All affordable products that work for me 🙌
My AM routine: wash with warm water, Kiehl's calendula toner, Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, Biore Aqua Rich sunscreen. My PM routine: wash off makeup/cleanse with Shu Uemura Anti/Oxi+ cleansing oil, Kiehl's calendula toner, Kiehl's hydro-plumping serum concentrate, Kiehl's ultra facial cream. 2-3 times weekly tretinoin 0.05% strength. I do also love the Chanel Red Camilia Revitalising Serum-in-mist. I tend twds oily skin (better now with tretinoin), living in tropical climate, all these serve me well. Yes, I do splurge a little on skincare but it is still simple, not 10-step, and I don't spend money on mani/pedi/eyelashes/clothes.
The best moisturizer I ever found was avene extreme tolerance cream and also the avene extreme tolerance emulsion. Unfortunately, both discontinued but it was an amazing cream for sensitive skin.
In my opinion it is cleanser, some sort of hylaronic acid serum like vichy mineral 89 or cosrx snail mucin serum, moisturizer and sunscreen for AM, cleanser, retinol serum, moisturizer and vaseline for eyelids PM. The best routine i’ve had personally.
My hero products, those that I have purchased over and over and have used for years would be Paula's Choice UltaLight Concentrate Antioxidant serum which I use in the morning and Tretinoin which I use at night. I've tried different moisturizers and sunscreens and some I have repurchased but these two items are the one's I always use.
I agree that less is more. Daytime: Rinse with warm water, Cetaphil Healthy Renew Face serum (mostly as a light moisturizer), Kroger Shimmer Tinted Sunscreen. Evening: Olay Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser, .05% tretinoin 3 times a week, alternating with Paula’s Choice 8% AHA once or twice a week, Cetaphil Redness Relieving Night Moisturizer. Thanks for sharing!
I have used so many product, 10 steps routine but nothing compare to tetrinoin + Vitamin C . I use sunscreen everyday, double cleanse and a good simple moisturizer. I am 40 and look 28 all the time without trying.
Almond oil has been used forever for eyelashes , so find a good one and use it. I learned to put a very small drop on your finger and go over your eyelashes in one swiping move before going to bed.
Day: Face facts ceramide cleanser, vitamin C serum, Beauty of Joseon sunscreen which doubles as my moisturizer. Night: Double cleanse with Clinique cleansing balm, followed by Face facts ceramide cleanser, Beauty of Joseon retinaldehyde eye serum, Purito Dermide Relief Barrier moisturizer.
To bring an example to my point I had acne all my life and got good results from using Differin. Now in the past years I have little spots that look like acne, but when I spoke to my doctor they think that isn't acne anymore but most likely dermatitis/rosacea, so the retinoid that I am using specifically on that area thinking it'd do me good, might be making things worse. So will check in with a derm to adjust my routine!
I like the Tacha Rice Face Wash. It gets off makeup. I can't get makeup off with the Cetaphil, and it just doesn't work for my skin type. I like Elemis micellar water for stubborn eyeliner or eye makeup, It's pricier, but I tried the cheaper stuff--which works but is more drying to my skin. I like castor oil a lot, and I will never be without that. I do use sugar cane based squalane. It's cheap and works fantastic. I use the La Roche Posay Lipikar Triple-Repair Moisturizing Cream on my face and body. Work great. I live in a super dry climate and it is the BEST, even in Winter. I use an eye cream that has caffeine to depuff (allergies!), but I won't mention the name, because I don't think it's all that. I make my own lip scrub with sugar and Aquaphor. Works great. I like the Bobbi Brown lip balm in a tin. It's ridiculouly priced for what it is, but it keeps my lips in great shape, even in the Winter. I use BHA 2% liquid from Paula's Choice, which I love. But I am thinking I'd like to switch to tretinoin or differin. I also have a tiny bit of hyperpigmentation on the tops of my cheeks and around my eyes, that I'd like to potentially use hydroquinone for. I use the same sunscreen that you do from Drmtlgy, and I love it. I think the Ulta-MD is better, but the price on the Drmtlgy is better, so that is my go to. I have religiously worn sunscreen for 39 years. But, lived in Mexico for a while, and that sun is HARD TO AVOID! So, that's where I think some of the hyperpigmentation showed-up, even though I am a religious sunscreen user. I like your routine! I may have to try some of it. I to believe in minimal, although my list doesn't look like it!
Hi, Jennifer! I love your videos and the precious information you're sharing. I'm on tretinoin 0.05% since november 2023 and it's working wonderful. I'm in Europe, I love more natural products (rule of thumb would be to actually make sense of the ingredients without a chemical degree) and for the cleansing gel I use castile soap or Marsilia sop half and half natural honey and for hidrating cream I'm using different natural creams for exameple SPeick with thermal water or aloe vera gel or a mix of oils I prepare with: sea buckthorn oil, almnond olive an jojoba oil equal parts. For the petroleum jelly I use instead a vegetal vaseline product from a company called Balea from DM(Drogerie Market). And last but not least as tretinoin I use a pharmacy product with 0.05% tretinoin. For eye area I use now castor oil too as you described and it works great actually. Thank you! As SPF I love Young Living mineral Sunscreen 50.
Since I started following Dr Dray in 2019, I switched to Vanicream cleanser (loooove it), nightly 0.025% tretinoin, and Clinique 100h moisturizer. In the morning I add Vanicream Vitamin C serum and Azelaic acid because I suffer from a lot of redness. And of course my holy grail sunscreen, Skinceuticals tinted physical sunscreen. Never without. ❤ Oh and I also double cleanse with a cleansing balm before my foaming cleanser because I find it does not get rid of all the sunscreen on my face if I don't.
Been on Tretinoin 0.025% cream for almost two years and now been on 0.025% tretinoin micro for the past month. The cream almost destroyed my skin barrier, the micro has been so much more gentle for me. I've used Cerave and LRP in the past, but Bioderma Creme Ultra and and their Atoderm intensive moussant cleanser are the best. Basic, but do their jobs really well for my face and body.
for morning skincare I use: cetaphil oily skin cleanser, cetaphil moisture cream and La roche posay anthelios spf 50 for night time skincare: micellar water for removing my sunscreen, cetaphil oily skin cleanser, niacinamide 10% serum, tretinoin 0.05% and cetaphil moisture cream (: I love your videos
Cetaphil also do a factor 50 moisturising sun cream - I used to use the lrp one but onto the cetaphil one now - have found it as good and also cheaper here in the uk
Im always using vanicream vitamin c, tret every 3rd night, and vanicream as my moisturizer. I alternate a lot on my other products, it depends on the price point...but for now I'm happy I have 3 all star products
Your skin is glowing! I used the CeraVe facial cleanser and hydroboost cream and sunscreen often in the mornings. Sometimes I might add the CoQ10 serum. At night the same facial wash and maybe a CeraVe cream and tretinoin.
I didn’t know I can use AmLactin on the face, I’ll be trying it that way, I’m trying to have a cost effective routine that can hive me the beat resulta posible.
Hi, For PM I use La Roche Posay Toleraine Dermo cleanser, Dieux Instant Angel face cream, and Prescription Tret 2x week. For the AM I still use the same cleanser and face cream, then La Roche Posay Mineral Anthelios Fluid Sunscreen. I really love your simple and consistency is best motto, couldn't agree more. No makeup for me just a simple gloss from topicals. If I need to help get beach day sunscreen off my face with a double cleanse I will use bioderma micellar water if on hand or use my same Dermo cleanser 2 times For body I use LRP lipikar+ or Prequel urea lotion, nuxe pink bottle deodorant, body wash is Aveeno with coconut scent, and body sunscreen supergoop play lotion and spray.
this is so refreshing compared to tik tok where you’re made to feel like you need a billion products, it all comes down to simplicity and i wish i realised that sooner
You don't need all that stuff.
Completely agree!
I mean, skincare is about finding out what best fits your own skin. everyone is different
I noticed that no matter whiw amazing and expensive products I buy, they will not save my skin from bad diet, stress and lack of sleep. I started prioritising food and relaxed lifestyle and that made a huge difference.
Diet and sleep, plus stress management, are paramount. They are in fact far more impactful than any skincare products.
70% healthy skin comes from healthy lifestyle (nutritious diet, good sleep, exercise, 2l of water, less processed food and sugar), 30% comes from cleansing, moisture and protection like sunscreen)
👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
100% when I changed to whole food, plant based, my skin and health improved 10 fold 🥳
Hi Jennifer,
I used Tretinoin in my late 20’s and did it too hard & strong. Many thanks to you for inspiring me to try again. At 70, I started low and slow, and my skin is loving the product. What a difference. Thank you sweet girl!
Hello! That’s wonderful!! Thanks so much for sharing. All the best to you 🙏
@@JenniferMyersI wish someone told me earlier too ❤thanks Jennifer beautiful inside out
Hi jennifer, thank you for all the information. Can we use castor oil as a moisturizer after tretinoin? Thanks in advance!
I went to pick up my tret the other day and the pharmacist told me to not use it every day or it will make my skin dry and the product will stop working .
I’m like so confused on the information I keep being given .
I’ve been on tret since I was 23 lol I’m now 29😭
Buuuut yeah I don’t understand I mean if I stop tret for a couple months or even weeks I’ll peel again but if I do it daily I will stop peeling
aint no way that was around 50 years ago
I’m currently living in Seoul and I love how Korean skincare focuses on mild, calming, and barrier-friendly skincare products. Very effective, yet non-irritating
Morning: I don’t wash my face in the morning
Evening: Cerave Hydrating Cleanser, Cerave Resurfacing Retinol Serum, Cerave Moisturizing Cream.
And a nice affordable sunscreen designed for the face… I use “the Altruist, face fluid” about 12 USD a month…
Anyone new to skincare, this RUclipsr knows her stuff! Thanks Jen!
Where do you buy your sunscreen in London?
She makes an excellent point here. A lot of influencers on social media use so many products I don't understand how they know what's actually working for them. And it's so important when you have reactive skin to only use limited number of products that work.
Day: Cerave Acne Control Cleanser, Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM, Cerave Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen
Night: Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser, Dermatica Tretinoin 0.05% / Ninacinamide 4%, Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM
thank you for the summary.
It was the Cereve Gentle Skin Cleanser, not the acne one.
I should preface this isn’t a video summary, this is my daily skincare routine.
When would you use the castor oil? Would that cancel out the tret?
@@rebeccasalgado6603 i was using castor oil after tret and moisturizer. problem was i started breaking out around the eye. so i backed off for now
I’m 49 and stumbled across your skincare routine about a year ago while researching what to do.
@@werq180 can u pls tell me your routine. Because I have dry skin too
An upturned liner at the outer edge of your pretty eyes would look good on you.
I think it’s good that you care enough about yourself, to take care of yourself.
I love Hada Labo oil! It melts away makeup.
May I know how long have you been using differin before switching to tretinoin soon?
I have been using differin 4 days in a week, then alter 5% glycolic two times in a week. But may be too intense for two times glycolic in a week, a bit burned up 😅😢now recovering. So I would like to know how often shall we incorporate glycolic acid with differin. Thanks ❤
@@tiffanysin300 I've been using Differin for about 6 months.
My skin routine: morning - snail mucin + sunscreen, night - glycolic acid + snail mucin
I started Tretinoin since I was 18, and was using Differin before that.
My hero products are:
AM Cleanser: Cetaphil Gentle Acne Cream Cleanser
AM Serum: Timeless 20% VitaminC
Sunscreen: EltaMD UV Elements Tinted / Kose Suncut gel sunscreen / Australian Gold Botanical Tinted BB Sunscreen.
PM Cleanser: Hado Labo oil cleanser (the yellow one)
PM Serum: The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin Serum
PM Retinoid: Tretinoin 0.05%
PM Moisturizer: DRMTLGY Peptide Night Cream.

Can I wax my face while being on tretinion I am not a shaving person and thats why I am hesitant in using tretinion and also will my skin be sensitive towards makeup
No you can't wax your face while on tret, unless you want to take your skin off.@@undefinedbeauty8109
@@undefinedbeauty8109 Hello,
I asked my Derm and he doesn’t recommend it at all. Hope this helps.
SWITCHING UP THE SUNSCREEN TO SPF 50 OR ATLEAST 40 MAY BE BETTER. sorry for the caps, but too lazy to do it over

You guys are gonna crack up, but I've been using Crisco on my face as a moisturizer for over 30 years. And I definitely don't look my age. Think of your skin as a leather sofa. Try and keep it out of harsh weather, and polish it w/oils often. Works very well.
Thats good genetics and lifestyle. Crisco has no anti-aging capabilities
@JegErN0rsk polishing your skin w/Crisco or any other moisturizer regularly, falls under the category of lifestyle. Genius. 🙄
Nor does it contain any ingredients found in human skin making it suitable for that job
Using crisco is not just bad advice, it is potentially harmful advice
Minnie is that you ? 😂
@@memberingIm going to try the crisco tonight 😂
1. Bioderma Sensibio H2O (the only one micellar water my skin can tolerate... it is great. Garnier burns my skin like hell)
2. Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser / Cerave Hydrating Oil cleanser (it is a gel, not an oil)
3. Purito Niacinamide serum with galacto ferments
4. Retinaldehyde 0.1% from Ph. Doctor, the best one i have used so far, gave me better results than spanish tretinoin, without irritation and peeling.
5. LRP Cicaplast baume B5 or Uriage Xemose cream
6. Castor oil, mostly for the lashes, when I put it all around the eyes then sometimes i get tiny bumps, but i do put it a little around the eyes as well, not always :)
During day sunscreen of course, i have many and i like a lot. I use mostly chemical sunscreens (my rosacea skin loves chemical sunscreens!)
I was having anxiety and watching your videos and listening to you always calms me
Really ❤
Me too! She’s the best!

Thank You!!
My hero product is 5% urea cream for the face. It helps my skin not peel as much from tret. I’ve tried one from eucerin and zeroid, I like them both
Thanks for the tip!
Are you ever concerned about getting MGD or dry eye disease? It's supposedly very painful and untreatable if you develop it.
😮@@Michael-ke8on
Does vit A application like retinols and tret may lead to dry eye disease? 😮
I already have slight dry eye
Does she have a face taping brand that she prefers?
@ladyblue4180 she said find what works best for you, she's done all different brands and even used scotch tape for 15yrs before taping became more popular
She said to test a strip on the inside of your arm to make sure you aren't allergic to the adhesive. Which is rare but better safe than sorry

I've started castor oil on all my face, I thought it would be greasy but it wasnt. I put a soft towel on my pillow in case of staining but all is good.
I am a sceptic but let me say it is working beautifully and I've noticed a difference even after four days. Seriously.
I previously used it on my eyelashes but stopped but seeing your other video realised i had been doing it all wrong ( i used a mascara wand)
So I'm looking forward to those results too.

My hero products: AM: CeraVe moisturizing cleanser, Timeless Vitamin C, CeraVe moisturizing cream. PM: Ponds cold cream (makeup remover) + CeraVe moisturizing cleanser + The Ordinary glycolic toner + CeraVe moisturizing cream.

Which Vanicream sunscreen do you use? I know they make two different ones. Thanks!
Thank you x
Yes indeed her videos are good.
Which one do you use ?
Unfortunately Cetaphil has added niacinamide to all of their formulas, and that is an ingredient some people can't tolerate. The one I have moved to is the Vanicream cleanser. CeraVe also contains that ingredient so if anyone is having trouble with "acne" or contact dermatitis, it might be that
It’s very frustrating to find niacinamide in every skin product even sunscreen. It really limits what you can use.
However, there are 4 things that definitely are the foundation of my skincare routine and it goes in line with yours (which are responsible for 80% of my good skin, the rest is just fluff honestly, on top of nutrition, hydration, activity and good sleep hygiene):
1) good, gentle cleansing
2) sunscreen
3) retinoid
4) rich moisturizing (cannot use tret without good moisturizers personally).
Which Vanicream lotion do you use/recommend?
@alicecole01 I got the only one I saw in the store I went to. It is in a pump dispenser that says "Vanicream moisturizing cream for sensitive skin" on it. I took Dr. Dray's advice. She recommended Vanicream.
Daytime: cerave foaming cleanser, la roche posay vitamin C cream version, (I skip moisturizer since both vitamin C and my sunscreen provide enough moisture for my oily skin), summer Fridays milk sunscreen
Nighttime: cerave foaming cleanser, dermatica customized tretinoin formula, Vichy mineral 89 as my lightweight moisturizer to avoid sensitivity from tretinoin
Neutrogena makes some really good sunscreens!

I am 52 and I have used Retin A 1% for 13 years. I also use cetaphil to wash my face and Garnier Ultra Hydrating suncream. No Botox, no filler ❤
You look amazing and have beautiful skin. Thank you for sharing what you use.
@@michaeljack930 Thank you for your nice comment x
Which retinol do you use ?
So true... Less is more. My routine is a homemade Green Tea Soap, Toning with Greentea Extract, Moisturizing. At night it's the same routine but I replace the Moisturizer with a retinol cream.
I used vanicream and it has never failed me
One major life changing habit that improved my skin drastically is cutting down use of make up. My skin literally improved and I stopped breaking out altogether. I still wear occasionally for special occasions but I stopped wearing it daily. I just use cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen now.
Morning: Benzoyl Peroxide wash, AHA essence, Cetaphil cream, SPF 50 sunscreen.
Evening: Hadalabo cleansing oil, Cetaphil gentle cleanser, Vit C+Niacinamide cream, Cetaphil cream, tretinoin 0.01%, castor oil around eyes.
I have to keep my skincare simple caz my skin cant tolerate too many layers. So for the AM its :
- micellar water
- hylauronic acid based lightweight moisturizer
- sweatproof sunscreen
- an spf lipbalm.
And in the PM it's :
- micellar water
- a hydrating cleanser
- a hylauronic acid based lightweight moisturizer
- retinol / bpo / lactic acid
- castor oil on eyelash ends
- boroline on lips.
I use Korean and Japanese sunscreen it’s so elegant feeling on the skin and so much more affordable than American sunscreens
I love this regimen, so simple. I got my Tretonoin yesterday and am going to implement this entire routine and see whether it’s a good fit 👍🏻
I love caster oil too, but I heard it is easily oxidized so you should apply it only at night. But other people say it doesn't oxidize easily...???
Our routines are very similar except, in the morning I cleanse with Aqueous cream and, at night, I sometimes use beef tallow with honey.
Morning- metathione soap(with alpha arbutin) luxe organic eye cream for whole face, dermplus SPF 80
Night- metathione soap(with alpha arbutin), luxe organic eye cream for whole face, tretinoin
My Skincare Routine:
Day: CeraVe Cleanser for normal to oily skin, Micellar Water with 3% niacinamide Vivanatura ( it's an romanian brand), CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion A.M and Altruist SPF50.
Night: Cerave Cleanser, The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Cerave Moisturising Cream for dry to very dry skin and Castor oil for eye area.
Much love
Thank you for simplicity!! I’m so overwhelmed with products on tik tok.
All affordable products that work for me 🙌
I started using castor oil on my entire face and it’s looking great….Thanks for your help
please also share your teeth whitening and hygene routine thanks!
Yes please!
She has a video on that....search her previous videos
yes!
VaniCream cleanser, Versed Skin Soak, Numbuzin No 1 skin essence (spf) and Medik8 Crystal Retinal. ❤
You are mesmerizing, the calmness i feel when I watch you...
Hi😮😅
❤ Oh and I also double cleanse with a cleansing balm before my foaming cleanser because I find it does not get rid of all the sunscreen on my face if I don't.
mam can u tell me which vitamin c i use for glowglowing skin
Been on Tretinoin 0.025% cream for almost two years and now been on 0.025% tretinoin micro for the past month. The cream almost destroyed my skin barrier, the micro has been so much more gentle for me. I've used Cerave and LRP in the past, but Bioderma Creme Ultra and and their Atoderm intensive moussant cleanser are the best. Basic, but do their jobs really well for my face and body.
for morning skincare I use: cetaphil oily skin cleanser, cetaphil moisture cream and La roche posay anthelios spf 50
for night time skincare: micellar water for removing my sunscreen, cetaphil oily skin cleanser, niacinamide 10% serum, tretinoin 0.05% and cetaphil moisture cream (: I love your videos
Pasifica barrier cream with ceramides is the best moisturiser and pure plum oil which u can apply under the eye area, on ur lips, face and even hair!
Thank you for sharing all the affordable products. Your skin is gorgeous without all the filters.
Love your videos!
I didn’t know I can use AmLactin on the face, I’ll be trying it that way, I’m trying to have a cost effective routine that can hive me the beat resulta posible.
I came back just to have company in this cold night. I feel like you are a friend talking to me.
Hi,
For PM I use La Roche Posay Toleraine Dermo cleanser, Dieux Instant Angel face cream, and Prescription Tret 2x week. For the AM I still use the same cleanser and face cream, then La Roche Posay Mineral Anthelios Fluid Sunscreen. I really love your simple and consistency is best motto, couldn't agree more. No makeup for me just a simple gloss from topicals. If I need to help get beach day sunscreen off my face with a double cleanse I will use bioderma micellar water if on hand or use my same Dermo cleanser 2 times
For body I use LRP lipikar+ or Prequel urea lotion, nuxe pink bottle deodorant, body wash is Aveeno with coconut scent, and body sunscreen supergoop play lotion and spray.
