Wow, this is such a great list! As someone over 40, I’ve been looking for the best skincare products, and this video really helped narrow things down. The recommendations seem spot-on, and I can’t wait to try some of them
Your videos are one of the first ones I ever watched on beauty and actually a lot of your products are what I first started learning about. Some of the first beauty products I bought were things you recommended so thank you for all you do.
I have been watching you for many years. Like, before you were married the first time. So happy you were able to finally conceive without ivf. I went thru a similar issue right before I got pregnant with my son. Thank you for what you do all these years
47 here! Thanks for the video! I have super sensitive, dry skin. The La Roche hydrating wash is awesome! Also, a cheap exfoliating yet hydrating mask you can make at home is: a couple teaspoons of plain Greek yogurt (lactic acid), drizzle of organic honey (antibacterial, hydrating), a few drops of oil (I like cold pressed, organic jojoba) and if I need extra exfoliation, I'll add a couple pinches of brown sugar (not as rough as regular sugar). All of this should fit in the palm of your hand, so just a little of each. Rub that on your face for 20 to 30 minutes and rinse. I do this once a week or so. But your biggest weapon is SUNSCREEN. It isn't sexy, but if you don't do this, all the lasers in the world won't work. I splash my face with water in the morning, vitamin C serum (about to try the new Prequel line from Dr. Sam Ellis at Target, but Skin Ceuticals good, just too expensive. Timewise is great and affordable), and then moisturize with Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion (I've tried the La Roche one Marlena uses, but it dried me out because I think it has too much hyaluronic acid in it for me), and La Roche mineral sunscreen (don't forget your face, neck, chest and hands). At night I double cleanse with jojoba oil and then the hydrating La Roche Wash and finish with Retin-A (Tretinoin). If I'm really dry, I'll add La Roche Balm Lotion.
You're such a sweet soul Marlena. I randomly found you thanks for your mini cooking clips on Instagram and now I've come to your channel as my trusted beauty guide ❤ your skin is aaahhhhhh-mazing !!!
I just tried Elemis on a whim and now even though it's only been a couple of days, I'm convinced is what my newly 40 year old, stressed out skin needs. Baby skin is exactly right! Especially around the eyes. 😊😊 I already decided to go in for the full sizes and waiting for them to arrive.
Marlena I so totally agree! Everything you use is phenomenal! I use just about everything except for a few things you have because the Elemis and Clarins is pretty expensive. La Roche Posay is excellent! Have a blessed day! ❤
Hi! Thanks for the recommendations regarding over 40 skincare. I’m 40, and I love hearing what others my age use and love. I had only heard about a couple of the products you suggested using in this video. Now, I’m curious about trying those that are new to me. I truly enjoy your channel and definitely value your opinion!
You were one of my first YTubers I followed from the wayyyy back and I still love your content! I was so unhappy the time you were quiet, like where’s my girl!! 🤷🏼♀️👀 Great video, must say, heaps of these are in my 66 year old arsenal! Yep all glowy and less lined over here👋
I love the Clarins Double Serum! It is phenomenal! I use it for years every single evening and my dry skin is really happy about it. Highly recommend it! 😊 I but it every time I‘m in the Duty free shop
I have to say... I love all your recommendation videos.. im 42 and so happy to see how your channel has evolved ❤ as a huge makeup junkie (since i was a teen) at this age of my life my makeup selection changed so much, 40 is not 20 😁 im all about good products for mature skin... so i LOVE all your videos for us ladies 💖
I start using Prequel’s Gleanser…it’s amazing! But, where is your Vitamin C? I’m 58, have been using Vitamin C and Trentinoin for years…many people are surprised at how old I am! They must be working! 😅Thank you for sharing your recommendations! You are amazing!🥰
I've heard so many great things about Elemis but I tried it and had to send it back because I couldn't stand the scent which also gave me a horrible migraine. I've read many reviews with similar complaints so I know I'm not alone. I'm actually kindof shocked that Elemis hasn't come out with a fragrance free version yet. 😢
Hi I'm 39 but close! I highly recommend the Lancer acid lime skin peel as a weekly treatment to get rid of dead skin cells & renew the skin. It also helps with fine lines & wrinkles. I also love Medik8's line of retinol as well 😊❤. Ps Marlena I love that Ordinary toner I've been using it for years 😊. I've neglected my skin care until my 30s I'm just lucky I have a baby face but God knows how long I'll get away with it; at least people say I look in my late 20s. I guess it's really about embracing aging & making the best of what we have.
I love Ordinary's Glycolic Acid. I need to use it more often. Agree on LaRoche products! The Dermatological powder has been my least favorite skin care item ever purchased. It doesn't feel like it exfoliates, it's messy, and I can tell I'm breathing it in as I pour it in my hand.
You have beautiful skin. When you find what works for you, it's hard to change and so much int he market place. Your product loyalty says it all. Thanks for sharing.
Couple of suggestions: I transfer that Ordinary Glycolic toner in a spray bottle so I waste less product. It will last even longer! If you cut your candle wick really short, it shouldn’t leave soot marks on the container. It also would have been great if you listed your items in the order that you use them…just a little suggestion. It always helps me when people present that way.
Thank you 😊 Love that you mentioned Dermalogicas microfoliant- I'll never forget reading an article from a paper magazine ages ago - it was on Liv Tyler and her essentials and she recommended it. So I got it and have been using it ever since. 😊
Thanks so much for your review of The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid. It’s such a great price (even here in Canada) and it has been a game changer in softening my skin and improving its texture. But lately I’ve been second guessing its effectiveness because there are other toners out there that are much more expensive and I’ve been wondering if they’re better because of the higher price tag. Thank you for reassuring me and putting an end to my doubts! Love your channel! Am learning alot! ❤
I love your selection! I have used the Clarins Double Serum , the Dermalogica Microexfoliant, and tretinoin and girl, you are spot on! LaRoche Posay is such an amazing skincare brand-I use their Toluriane Oil Free cleanser and love it.
I'm 54 with oily mature skin and I use my acid exfoliants under my tretinoin every night. The only time I'll slip the tretinoin is if I use glycolic acid. I know that drier complexions may not tolerate the combination, but this is the best my skin has ever been and I've been using this combo for over a year now.
@@pinayinmelbourne1979 - I use lactic acid, sometimes with mandelic acid, every single day. One to two times per week I use Paula's Choice AHA+BHA in the cream form, not the liquid. The only time I use glycolic acid now is if I have breakouts, and that day I won't use my tretinoin, but I'll also add an extra layer of moisturizer.
Thank you very much, dear Marlena! One correction, though: The Face Cleanser you are mentioning is from the series LIPIKAR and not the TOLERIANE, as you are mentioning in your links. BTW, unfortunately, the links for USA and Europe are the same for this item. I am mentioning it here, as the LIPIKAR range is significantly much more hydrating and for people with very sensitive skins, even for babies. I hope this helps everyone!
Love some of your fav/holy grails❤ The only one that I can’t agree with would be the Laroche Posey double repair face moisturizer … it pills up on itself no matter how much or how little I apply. One suggestion that I have would be the Beauty of Joseon (sp?) retinol eye cream. It is a lovely product for a fraction of the cost. I actually use it all over my face sometimes since they give you a good amount for an eye cream. 😊
I bought the LaRoche Posay cleanser yesterday to try and want to also get the moisturizer to try. I do love claims double serum that I got at Ultas 50% off Beaty deals one year. Great video!
I use baking soda to exfoliate. Works great. Also, under eye cream isn't necessary. Skin can't absorb collagen. It's all such a racket, except for tretinoin. That stuff works.
Good choices! Love all Peach & Lily. I tried Clarins double serum when it was 50% off during 21 Days @Ulta in 2023. LOVE this serum!! Another holy grail is Estée Lauder advanced night repair and hyalouronic acid serum. Peach & Lily glass skin serum is phenomenal but a lot of brands have one. My tretinoin is formulated with niacinimide, another great ingredient.
I’ve been following you for years and have learned so much!! I’ve recently become allergic to most of my skin and hair care products. Can you do a video on product recommendations for people allergic to chemicals in these type products.
Perfect timing, I was just looking for a new moisturizer because my old one doesn't cut it anymore now that I'm 47, so this video was exactly what I needed. 🥳🎉🙌🏻 Thanks for the good recommendations!
Love ❤ your honesty ALWAYS. I have screenshot this ready to get online buying things as I'd needed to change up my routine as my skin has changed in recent years so thus will really help as a good start to see if they work for me Will say some items I already use and 100% agree with you on them
OMG, I'm a huge dermalogica fan. The SCRUB is NOT a granual scrub. You need to make a lather of clouds with some water. I did it the way you are saying for years but then watched how dermaligica said to use it. GAME CHANGER.
I'm 43, tretinoin is a game changer and it's probably the only reason why I look much younger than 43. I've been using it for about 10 years. I only use 2-3 times a week and usually lather on a bunch of moisturiser on top.
Thank you so much for the recommendations… been looking at some of the products you recommended for some time. I do use La Rouche Posay, which is a staple.. will try Peach/Lily soon.
Thanks for the info! I’ll be looking out for some of these products. I also wanted to let you know that the discolored dry patch on your elbow could be an indication of pre-diabetes or diabetes. So, get that checked out if you haven’t already.
Thank you! I just had my bloodwork done and my A1C was good and glucose was good 🙏🏼 It’s weird because I only got that since having my breathing issues and moving to Texas 😫
Good to hear your blood work was good! I had a dry patch show up on my elbow too. What helped me resolve it was CeraVe Healing Ointment. You can try the 3 oz. tube to see if it helps.
I just turned 47 and your skin looks so beautiful. I agree with all of the products you mentioned. I use or have used most of them. They’re all great. I haven’t been able to afford the laser yet though. Looks amazing. The Summer Fridays Jet lag overnight eye serum has retinol in it too and it has been magical for my under eyes. I get my tretinoin from Dermatica online. Mine is only 0.25% though ❤
Wow I'm so tempted to try the Elemis moisturiser!! I've been using the Ole Henriksen strength trainer moisturiser (I have combination/ dehydrated skin) and I've been loving it but wouldn't mind trying something new 😊 I better start saving up for that one ha ha
Great Selection! I have used more then half of those and omg I have been using the Dermalogica Exfoliant for like 20 years! LOVE the Elemis Cream, it is so Luxurious & Moisturizing!!! I’m in need of an eye cream and will try the Murad for sure. Love your videos, tyyy!!! 🫶🏻
I swear by the Ordinary glycolic acid. I started getting hyper pigmentation when I went from an IUD to the pill. A pretty big area come out of nowhere on my forehead. After consistent use it took around 3 months to completely disappear. I've used so many high end products and the Ordinary line is better or as good as high end products.
Can you do a video for very mature skin and very dry, wrinkles and my right eye has a large hood. A routine with whatever moisturizer you like to use on older mature skin. TY!
Great recs! FYI - Clarins often has sitewide sales from 20-30% off so you don’t have to wait for the Sephora sale and you get a bigger discount. I stack that with Rakuten cash back for an even better deal. 🎉
Hey Marlena, I’m 72 yrs old and. I use many of the same products that you use. The Ordinary Glycolic toner I use on my lips at night. I apply don’t rinse then I put on Aquaphor and I haven’t had dry or chapped lines since. Only smooth, soft lips ready for lipliner, lipstick or even bare lips in morning. I also use Retina A which made me get angular cuts in corner of my mouth but this also stopped that also. The Ordinary toner also helps with collagen production by clearing away debris from outer layers of skin according to UTube dermatologist Dr Idriss. She’s super smart and super cute! Anyone should check out her channel, for amazing skincare and cosmetic advice.🥰
I use Tretinoin, LRP cleanser $58 and double repair moisturizer $78 but I have to buy both on Amazon as it’s not available in Australia. I use Dr V Rattan eye cream and CeraPep moisturizer at night.
I used to used the Clarins Double Serum daily n loved it. Then I’ve heard it’s just a waste of money n not effective. I should go back to it cause I loved it.
Salicylic acid 2 or 4% is better than glycolic to get gunk out of pores. Glycolic helps the surface cells to strip off while a Salicylic acid encourages the flow of oil from within the pore and it is anti-irritating.
@@Crystal0139 Thank you for letting me know! I started using .025% but can ONLY do it twice a week. And I had to gradually build up to doing even that much. I mix it half and half with my moisturizer before applying to my face......It is THAT drying and I have OILY skin!
@@rebeccacrow9616 yessss! Same! I have sensitive oily skin. And I couldn’t even tolerate Adapalene every day lol. I’ve built up to Tretinoin and can only do 3xweek mixed with moisturizer lol. I get mine from curology, I’m now on 0.035% and it took 2 years to get here lol
@@GDBGDB OK! Good tip! I will try it next time. Thank you! I am not sure I am really getting ANY benefit from fading dark spots or fine lines though. What has been your experience?
Hi Marlena, I use Tretinoine and I have noticed that my makeup flakes around the mouth. What do you recommend to stop this. Thanks for all your great videos. You are someone very honest. 💐
Your skin looks amazing so I’m going to buy the items that I don’t have from this list. I’ve also been wanting to get into Tretinoin, but I’m scared of it. I’m 46 years old, I think it’s time.😂
I wanted to love the la roche posay double repair moisturizer bc it’s affordable and doesn’t have hyaluronic acid in it but it’s just not it for me. Half the time I use it, it pills, under sunscreen, under makeup and just on its own. I’m going back to first aid beauty ultra repair (in the pump not tub).
Great recommendations Marlena..am definitely interested in getting hold of tretinoin but live in UK so will seenwhere i can get it. Am hoping it will erase acne scars...and a few forehead wrinkles xx
I’m gonna try the La Roche Posay face wash. For yrs I’ve been using Fresh Soy face cleanser. And I love it i just wish it was more affordable. I saw a video that a Cerav cleanser was a dupe so I got it and my face did not like it, then I got one from Biossance and I’m really happy with it I got it at Sephora but I feel like I could’ve just purchased the Fresh cleanser the price is not to much of a difference.
I love how you jumped right into the products instead of spending forever on some super long intro like some influencers. Great video ❤
Me too. I hate the drawn out stuff.
As a retired beauty therapist here in the UK, I love your selection.😊
They're so good!!
Yes! I loved her selection. I love your *comment* too! Its always nice to hear comments/info from people who are in the profession!!

I have tried a lot of skincare products and after many years, LaRoche Posay is the best I've ever used their ingredients are unscented and more!
The brand is so so good! Been using for 14 years ❤
Thanks for sharing these. I've been seeing some of those products on your channel for years! You have great skin.
I appreciate you being here for me !

Do you have an amazing sunscreen recommendation?
I'm 42 and I love La Roche Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser! I also love the Avène Tolerance Control Skin Recovery Balm as a moisturizer!
Avene is a phenomenal line of products that doesn't get the attention it deserves.

I have been hoping for skincare video from You for a long time. 🙏😇🥰 I am so happy for this video 🙌
Yay! Thank you!❤
Ooooh I wanna know what you think of those Paula's Choice products I spied in your stash. 👀
TY!
Marlena, L❤VE your new background!!!!
Great recs!
FYI - Clarins often has sitewide sales from 20-30% off so you don’t have to wait for the Sephora sale and you get a bigger discount. I stack that with Rakuten cash back for an even better deal. 🎉
Ooh that’s a great tip!!! Thank you!! Cause I’m low on my clarins now and was stressing to get more 😮
Hey Marlena, I’m 72 yrs old and.
@@MarlenaStell you’re so welcome! You’ve given us so many tips so I’m glad to have given you a tiny one too!
Where do you get your tretinoin?
Where do u usually buy the tretnoin
I think you’ve done very good! ❤
I use Tretinoin, LRP cleanser $58 and double repair moisturizer $78 but I have to buy both on Amazon as it’s not available in Australia. I use Dr V Rattan eye cream and CeraPep moisturizer at night.
La roche posay est une très bonne marque en parapharmacie, merci Marlena😄😄😄
Great video. Great products.
I used to used the Clarins Double Serum daily n loved it. Then I’ve heard it’s just a waste of money n not effective. I should go back to it cause I loved it.
Salicylic acid 2 or 4% is better than glycolic to get gunk out of pores. Glycolic helps the surface cells to strip off while a
Salicylic acid encourages the flow of oil from within the pore and it is anti-irritating.
What strength of tretinoin are u using??
I paused on the part where she showed the Tretinoin. She’s using 0.1%
@@Crystal0139 Thank you for letting me know!
@@rebeccacrow9616Instead of mixing them try putting down a moisturizer as a buffer layer then apply the tret on top
@@GDBGDB OK! Good tip! I will try it next time. Thank you! I am not sure I am really getting ANY benefit from fading dark spots or fine lines though. What has been your experience?
Thank you for your videos 🦋
Great products. I use a few! 👍👍
Hi Marlena, I use Tretinoine and I have noticed that my makeup flakes around the mouth. What do you recommend to stop this. Thanks for all your great videos. You are someone very honest. 💐
Do you wash your face in the morning? Like, after the skin care routine at night-do you wash in the morning before make up?
Your skin looks amazing so I’m going to buy the items that I don’t have from this list. I’ve also been wanting to get into Tretinoin, but I’m scared of it. I’m 46 years old, I think it’s time.😂
I wanted to love the la roche posay double repair moisturizer bc it’s affordable and doesn’t have hyaluronic acid in it but it’s just not it for me. Half the time I use it, it pills, under sunscreen, under makeup and just on its own. I’m going back to first aid beauty ultra repair (in the pump not tub).
Super helpful video. I see some things I haven’t used before and some I’m crazy about (lookin at you Clarins!)
Great recommendations Marlena..am definitely interested in getting hold of tretinoin but live in UK so will seenwhere i can get it. Am hoping it will erase acne scars...and a few forehead wrinkles xx
Thank you for sharing. Can you make a video showing you putting on the different products please
I love LaRoche Posay cleaner❤
The Nira? Do you use it over your skincare? I've been under the impression you used it on clean dry skin with no product.
