Thank you most technician /mechanic miss the foundation of repairing any car an inspection while doing maintenance. after 40 years in the industry i still do a lot of oil changes and INSPECTION TO AVOID BRAKE DOWNS . keep it up Brain .
I thought the 2018 2.5 liter engine took over 5 quarts? The video was cut and dry. To the point and thorough. Good Job. Thumbs up. Personally I would use 0W-20 full synthetic, especially during the winter. The "W" in the oil grade spec stands for winter. A zero W oil will have a better flow rate during cold starts. The owner's manual for our granddaughter's 2018 Escape does list it as an option.
6:49 Remember guys to check the sealing surface for the old oil filter gasket sticking up there, it happens, and will ruin your day along with the garage floor or driveway....Also wipe a little oil on the new oil filter sealing gasket.
You over looked filling the new filter, but you know that, & it was your choice, I always fill my filters as much as they can take, without running out on install.
I only use Full Synthetic on everything, for the last at least 25 years. You know the Cam Actuator Issues & long oil change intervals, that seem common today, for some reason. Many cars are in the bone yard about 15 or 20 years early, from neglect.
Remember to make sure the old filter gasket comes off with the filter, and coat the gasket on the New filter with oil so it seals good these are basic, he should have known and mentioned this it’s oil changing 101
I usually clean off the dipstick and re-install before starting the engine. Am I causing damage by not removing the dipstick prior to starting the engine after the oil change? K&N Engineering Performance Gold Oil Filter Part Number: HP-1002 (2010 2.5L Duratec)
if you can't find a funnel that fits try Motivx Tools Engine Oil Funnel for Ford Vehicles with 1/4 Turn Oil Filler Caps at Amazon it has a gasket and a 1/4 turn to lock it in place works great.
+Mike Brennan As stated I have switched because of the active cleansers and the turnaround Pennzoil has done in the past few years. Even many OEM's specify it now.
I do have a quick question Brian. Have you changed the PCV valve on your 2.5.? It's behind the intake manifold and a pain which is why I haven't done it.
BSG Automotive mine was changed until my engine cooler seal and hoses failed and started to leak, it's so cumbersome to change it that it's easy to neglect it, I found out that only OEM PCV valve fits, aftermarket was not even close in shape. Not to long after I had a faulty filter crack and cause a mess, had to do an oil change mid life thankfully it was only a faulty oil filter.
I usually do my mothers vehicles oil changes for her, and she now has a 2017 Ford Escape w/2.5 engine, I looked thru the owners manual and it says NOTHING about how to do an oil change on the vehicle, I was like WTH Ford? So this video would be similar to what I would do on my mothers SUV? Thank you.
@bsg automotive does this car use a canister filter or one of the inside replacements?! my 2008 2.3 has the cover for an inside replacement but i am seeing canisters show up on oil filters checks. please help.
I have been changing my oil for the last year and I noticed that when I dream the oil only 4 quarts come out can you tell me why and should I flush my oil soon it has 85k miles
Brian, I have a 2017 Ford Transit Connect XLT with the 2.5 engine. The owner's manual says to change the oil every 7500 to 10000 miles. The dealership service department says every 5000 miles. Who is right?

And prefill the filter too. You can at least top it off a couple times.
@@largestgorillapersonal preference. It’s not a requirement to pre-fill.
Thanks for sharing your tips for changing the oil and filter for this particular car.
Is there a reason why you don’t use fully synthetic oil? Wouldn’t that be better for the engine?
Good Video! Thank you! Very well detailed and not a lot of rambling.
he forgot a couple of things
You over looked filling the new filter, but you know that,

I never prefill any oil filter except the motorcraft fl-1995 filter.
Mine is a 2011 fusion hybrid and I use Mobil One full synthetic with a XG3614 filter 5 quarts.
Remember to make sure the old filter gasket comes off with the filter, and coat the gasket on the New filter with oil so it seals good these are basic, he should have known and mentioned this it’s oil changing 101
totally

+ReclusiveMountainMan No damage you are fine.
Not one bit
My fusion 2.5 takes 5.3 quarts where I keep reading others take 5.7 quarts of oil, what did Ford do after 2012, change the oil pan?
if you can't find a funnel that fits try Motivx Tools Engine Oil Funnel for Ford Vehicles with 1/4 Turn Oil Filler Caps at Amazon
it has a gasket and a 1/4 turn to lock it in place works great.
MY 2016 ford fusion says it takes 5.7 2.5L
Johnny Redcloud annoying how the video maker never addresses this
he dose if you hear what he said.
My 17 is the same. 6qts.
I wish you a wonderful work Tawfiq
Would you recommend a magnetized oil drain plug to catch metal fragments if any?
why is it that you use motorcraft filters but not motorcraft oil?
+Mike Brennan As stated I have switched because of the active cleansers and the turnaround Pennzoil has done in the past few years. Even many OEM's specify it now.
Brian have you ever seen a motocraft oil filter not fit a 2003 explorer 4.6 but a Pennzoil filter fit?
The 820s on this engine seems to be a bit hard to get the threads lined up and started but no I have never has a problem.
BSG Automotive thanks
Like many others, i will add that my 2013 2.5ltr takes 5.7 quarts with filter per ford owners manual
Thinking about getting an Escape with the 2.5. is that a good engine?
I do have a quick question Brian. Have you changed the PCV valve on your 2.5.? It's behind the intake manifold and a pain which is why I haven't done it.
+J Romero I have not changed mine I am not worried about it.

Where was your flap that went on bottom of engine!

My Fusion has a 2.5 engine but the manuel says 5.7 quarts is that like 5 1/2 quarts or 5 3/4 of a quart? Thanks?
what about escape 2008 hybrid. Does it have a regular filter?
Most Hybrids including yours uses a cartridge style filter- amzn.to/2iHCqH7
That’s the same Oil Filter my 2020 Ford Fusion uses
Why not fill the new filter with some oil before spinning it on?
No need.
i'm surprised you suggest leaving the dipstick out. why?
Because of the in valve cover design.
Good job brother..
I have a 2008 ford focus, tire pressure light is on. How can I reset it so the light no longer comes on?
lol!
I saw the manual say I needed syn blend oil. Do I??
I have been changing my oil for the last year and I noticed that when I dream the oil only 4 quarts come out can you tell me why and should I flush my oil soon it has 85k miles
Maybe you burning a quart of oil between oilchanges or you got a leak somewhere or both
ANYONE THAT DOSE AN OIL CHANGE IS TO CHECK THE LEVEL AFTER THE OIL CHANGE AND TOP TO FULL.
THANKS FOR THE TIP
everyone is a damn critic. there's a million ways to do all these steps/products. leave the guy be.
Mike Jones Brian is one of the best auto technicians on RUclips.

The dealer is right I would not go past 5k miles.
Sorry, but the dealership didnt design or build the engine....go with the manufactures recommendation. Not that there's anything wrong doing it early.
@@thisguysnameismatt4460 The same manufactures that recommend the trans fluid be changed at 100,000 plus miles?
Why didn't you jack up the vehicle or put it on ramps, it seems like it would be easier to do and easier to film if you did
+camtheham13 No there is actually allot of room under these vehicle that's one of the great features of the Escape.
Thnx subbed
man! that oil was thin! like water!
when I do my own cars I let them drip for hours! I also let the bottles sit inverted in the funnel for a couple minutes.... get more out that way
I use straight 30 in my Escape with 135K
Check your subs, i was subbed and then my sub, unsubbed🤬🤬🤬🤬
I've seen about 5 things wrong with this video.
