Hahaha it's 15 dollars now 4 years later.
The 2 dislikes were the 2 Chevy owners who didn't get the procedure
All Fords it seems (particularly those mentioned in this segment) need pampered with preventative maintenance. Better to do it yourself and practice these basic PMI's or you'll find yourself paying a mechanic a small fortune to do it for you, unless you enjoy sitting along the road in need of a tow.
So basically if you are lazy add 4.5 qts and you should be ok.
Thank you for the video and information. Great job! We have a 2016 Ford Escape SE (2.5L engine; 6F35 transmission). The transmission check plug behind the LF wheel is slightly behind the front axle and requires a 10mm hex tool (like an Allen wrench). I got mine from Harbor Freight. It took multiple extensions and an universal socket to get the check plug out. One other note is that it was very difficult for me to get the fill cap back on. I disassembled some of the air filter to give a bit more room for my hand to get the cap back on.
Why can't you just measure how much came out and put that amount back in?
Each drain on my 2016 Edge 6F35 was 3 qts in a measured container at room temp. I went through 3 drain/refill cycles and that will replace 70.8% of the old oil (well, at least mathematically). It will take me 4 drain/refill cycles (@ 3 qts ea.) to replace 92.6% of the old oil. Each 5 qt. Mercon LV container costs $36 on Amazon, so next time I'll buy 3 jugs instead of the 2 that I did this time, and do the 4 cycles. Cost will be about $110 but that's only about half of drain/ flush at the dealer. I'll wait and do the flush at the dealer at 150k miles as required in the user manual. I haven't done the leveling procedure yet, (tomorrow) but it looks like the plug is on the right side of the axle (i.e., behind the axle).
It’s $11 a quart but still good
Help. I have a 2018 Explorer with the 2.0L. / 6F35 transmission. When checking for the leveling plug, My Tranny is different from the video. There is no plug to the left of the axle. I have a plug to the right of the axle with a Yellow sticker above it. Looks like the old style plug for Rear Ends ??.
Thank you so much. I have a 16 Fusion and have not seen any videos on this. I just took mine to Ford 2 months ago to get this done for it's 60k service. I would have done it if I knew it was so easy. I have 2 other Fords and just happened upon this video as I just like watching your excellent videos and great knowledge. Thanks for your time!
Exactly what I needed. Thanks a lot. Very clear video, easy to follow along with great camera work. Changed transmission fluid on 2015 Ford Fusion SE 2.5L. Much appreciated! 👏🏼 🙏
I don't watch a lot of your videos because they don't apply to me, but the ones I do watch I really enjoy because you give good tips, (don't let the wheel kick out or you'll chew it up with the socket), you do good work, you're friendly and you don't feel it is necessary to cuss. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
So my girl has 2018 ford escape with 33,000 miles.
This is the only clear and concise video I've found on this, thank you! After my Nissan CVT transmission debacle this procedure sounds like heaven!
Always a great reliable source for Ford repair instructions. My go-to guy!
Thanks for this video cover....saw it two years ago and recent purchased a 2019 Ford Escape 1.5L ecoboost deer hit rebuild w/ 13k miles. Recalled the video and pulled it up for review. The money saved helped payed for the a/c recharge w/ the latest R-1234yf refrigerant....that bill was a slap in face, unexpected. Thanks again!
I've been searching for a youtube procedure to change the trans fluid on my 2013 Fusion for a while. I couldn't believe that no one had detailed the entire procedure....until now. Thank You! Excellent video.
I have a 2015 Ford Fusion and this video was exactly what I needed to change the transmission oil. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
