And I’m so happy for the love shrinkage is getting. I got so many hateful comments saying my hair looked “ matted and nappy” when I started wearing my hair in it’s most natural state ( shrunken). I’m not ashamed of my hair but my anti- black family definetly are. I come from a “ perms are fine” and you “ need your hair done with weave every 3 weeks” kind of family and stepping away from their preconceived notions of what black hair “ should” look like was really hard. The policing of 4c hair is insane to me. Especially since it is not seen as “ good hair” bc it is not of a looser texture. Videos like these make all the difference and I would gladly watch them for hours. Thank you from the bottom of my heart girl. And imma continue to support you and whatever else u plan on doing outside of ur hair as well. Be blessed❤
thank you so much! im so sorry you have to deal with that. people are so ignorant and uneducated when it comes to our hair. i deal with comments like that in real life myself but much less as i avoid most people being as introverted as i am.. hehe. anyways your support means a lot im forever grateful. 🫶🏾
I just wanna say how appreciative I am of your videos; it’s so rare (for me at least) to find someone with 4C hair that doesn’t degrade and make fun of it constantly. As someone who is on a journey to loving their natural hair, seeing you treat your hair so gently and talk about it so positively is really nice. I love your videos and you’re beautiful !
I reject the negativity too. I appreciate the beauty of this coily hair, ( the defined texture drops my jaw). I also see the loveliness of other textures. For people who try to make fun, unsuccessfully, I keep my distance as their song changes when I do styles accepted to them. Best to keep aligning with mindsets that appreciate self, and others in similar manner.
I'll never understand the "type 4 people who use gel must hate their curl pattern/they're trying to change it" conversation. Do they not realize a gel is LOCKING IN the curl pattern we already have 😂The coils I have after I shampoo and have zero product on my hair is the same curl pattern with gel.
I love this new wave of tight curly/kinky coily wash and go youtubers! Can't wait to see the mousse wash and go. I've been doing wash and gos exclusively for almost 2 years now and it's radically changed my life but like you said, the dry time is ANNOYING. And seriously starting to work on my nerves. Have you heard of plopping? It's something looser curlies have been doing, basically wrapping a t shirt around your head to suck up excess moisture and speed up dry time. Would be interesting to see you try it.
These videos you've made are so theraputic and so amazing for a 16 year old girl with 4c hair like me. I'm currently combing out my locs and going back fully natural and honestly this channel has blessed me tremendously. I already love and accepted my hair BUT the wisdom you have provided, the confidence, the kindness within you and your hair is so inspiring to see in this day and age. Never stop making these videos please! I'm so serious! I love my hair and I love your hair!

I feel like SEEING someone complete the routine that they're advising breeds trust. I love your soft and calm voice. Also,I had no idea about the botanical gels or diffuser! Mousse gives a lot of body and volume. I love the gels on top of it too. Except I only put gel on the mid shafts and ends. NEVER my roots. Lovely video, Yar! 😊
This method has been working for my daughter who is biracial by the way. I have never used oils or butters or deep conditioners or live ins on her curly hair. Her hair is 59cm approximately 23 inches and she has healthy length.I dont know if this method works for me as I am 100% Black with 4c Natural as I am looking for healthy length, I prefer long hair. I do depend on influencers most of the time when it comes to the natural hair care 🇿🇦🌿
I have tight coiled hair and it’s hard to maintain it. The products I need to access to help retain my length, help moisture, and style is accessible however my mom don’t have the money to invest into my hair care unfortunately. Love your videos and it gives me inspiration.
Thank you so much! I never knew my 4c hair could be so defined lol! I will try maybe one day! Also I love how you show the entire process its very nice of you❤❤ keep going!
Well dang…I’ve been researching and watching hella video demonstrations to learn how to care for my hair since I went natural 2 years ago. The content I’ve seen has been helpful, but no one has been able to teach me this much so succinctly. Please make more content ❤ Thank you!
Yes! No lies! That uncle funky defines the coils..Now I realize I'm not being as patient as you, I usually just rake it on in less time thus it still has some frizz but I'm not upset at that at all. Will test out your routine of doing it in the shower. Thanks you sharing Yar.
I loved your video! You are adorable as well as beautiful! Your hair looks amazing! Thanks for staying true to what The Most High has blessed you with and for embracing it so carefree!

I never watch youtube videos until the end but this one was so satisfying😍.I really loved watching this video because it gave me tips and kept me from being bored. I almost fell asleep watching you style your hair! I love the way you embrace your natural hair texture and don't shrink it or anything. You helped me realize that curly/coily hair is nothing to be ashamed of!
Your content is great! The vibes are immaculate, and it's so approachable and informative. I stopped wearing wash&gos because my hair is long and tangles really badly when it shrinks. Im scared to try this routine but I might one day!

Love this series !!! Thank youu soo much , recently just did the big chop and I’m soo lost on good products to use on my hair , but this series is helping !!
Thank you so much for this video gorgeous! I also have fine 4c hair but low porosity. I am so used to using leave in conditioners but I am going to try to switch to botanical gel as it helps to show definition and it seems to elongate your curls better than cremes.. however since I am new to using gel, may you please tell me what defines as a “botanical gel” so I can ensure my hair maintains its moisture? Hope to hear soon! 😭🙌🏾💗
Another awesome video! I’ll definitely try this. I kind of love the ASMR aspect of this video, it feels like something i can put on while working on my own hair
i’m rewatching this video bc i’m about to try a wash and go for the first time in like 6 months! i’ve been using mousse only bc it dries quickly and doesn’t drip, but i missed using gel so i’m gonna try it again and see how it goes. thanks for the technique tips!
update: i washed and styled my hair and now i’m drying it with a diffuser. i put too much water so it’s dripping a lot which is annoying but i think it’s gonna turn out pretty well
i just did a renovation and my tile and grout is white on white, i love your white on black grout to all i did was bring color with peel and stick wallpaper and bath mats.
I've been dying to know how other 4c girls define their magnificent coils!!! I see my beautiful coils on wash day but never if it's not wet. Thank you, thank you. Gels hsve always freaked me out, but I'm willing to try.
Ive never heard about botanical gels before until today! Ive been using eco styler gel cuz that seems to be the only product that really held my curls the way i wanted it to. I have type 4 hair to but i always finger curl it the way i wanted it to look like, dont get me wrong i love how it looks but a part of me knows this cannot be healthy for my hair in the long run. Its basically; im manipulating my tight curls into being more separated looser curls (??😭 i hope you know what i mean) but that led to me using a heavy amount of products to weigh down my hair to achieve that look. So your videos is really inspiring me to just let my hair be what it is in a HEALTHY way and i really appreciate that💟 and girl you NEED to show us that gel and mousse tutorial!!! I envy people that use a mousse and it actually keeps their hair defined, mousses are way too light for my hair so im staying tuned girll💟💟💟 i love you bye
ya i know what you mean! i do think you can still elongate your curls in a healthier way with botanical gels if you want but i’m glad to hear you want to embrace shrinkage! and mousse’s are getting better and better i cant wait to share my next video!! & i appreciate you! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for posting these videos. You don’t know how good it is to see some else to having the same type of hair as mine. So thank you for teaching me how to take care of it. ❤❤
Btw Jell-O shot is stronger hold than innersense and is botanical as well. All their products are meant to keep refrigerated and use fruit pectin as their hold.. very strong. Your hair would love it
do i need heat protector every time i apply heat onto it or no? and oh my gosh girl thank you so much for this. i was really struggling with how to take care of my natural hair
Black women who complain about the shrinkage usually have longer and thicker hair. When my hair was your length, I enjoyed what shrinkage brings to a style. But it's not as enjoyable when you choose to get longer hair. Not because it does not show length but because it creates knots tangles and trying to defined coils (which will prevent knots and tangles) like you're doing here or on your other video when you do it in small sections takes way too much time for a style/look that does not last long enough to be worth it to me. And of course it takes even more time if your hair is thick. When my 4c hair was short defined coils or not defined coils meaning a simple fro with it shrinkage did not really bring tangles and I could easily and quickly refresh my hair as wash day did not take long, so it was the way to go. They were my go to styles. Now that my hair is long things are different. Stretch styles with braids or twists is the way to go if I wear my hair out. And still it has shrinkage but it stretches enough to minimize tangles until the next refresh or wash day. It does not take that much and last long enough with minimum tangles.
When you go through a faze of damaging your hair and you finally cut that mess off and start to feel your healthy hair again shrinkage is no longer the big bad wolf it becomes a joyous thing that your hair is healthy again ❤
There's something that feels weird to me about using a base and topper gel but I'll have to see the techniques more and get over my sensory issues 🤣🤣 Right now I'm using mousse because I work out often and wash or rinse off my hair/scalp multiple times a week lol
lol! i want to start working out 3+ times a week and i dont know how that’s gonna be. i’m honestly planning on wearing flat twists for the next month 😅😅
@@yarsudani I currently work out 3 to 4 times a week lol.. I also sweat a lot from my scalp and using gel was absolutely terrible. By the end of my sessions I would literally have white streaks rolling down my face from the gel coming off. And it felt like such a waste to use gel and rinse it all off in 2 days. With wrap foam it works perfectly because I don't need to have a lot of hold and it only takes about 20 minutes to dry completely for me. I bought 32 oz of Nairobi wrap foam several months ago and I haven't even made a dent in it lol
oh my gosh what a nightmare! I sweat reallll bad so I know my hair would be damp each time. but luckily i've been planning to wear flat twists for a while because I also want to go swimming more. My gym has locations with swimming pools and I really want to swim in a workout sort of way like do laps and all that cute stuff! It would be comical trying to fit my coils into a swim cap though lol. flat twists will save me, and i love doing them with mousse it's so light and clean! and midweek washing would be no problem so im excited! theres a time and place for gel and i don't think ill be using it at least for the next month xD
yes i think many factors contribute to how much your hair can shrink. my family has 4c hair/tight curls but depending on hair density/thickness the shrinkage is different. i have thinner/low density hair so my hair is able to shrink to it’s full capacity but my siblings with thicker/more dense hair don’t have as much shrinkage as me, it’s close but noticeability different. also we can just share similar strand size, texture, but different curl tightness. 🤗
2:17 Lol I was jsut telling my friend how I don’t understand why people say it after he said it. I said idk why people complain about shrinkage, without shrinkage your hair would be straight, now u don’t want your hair straight do you? Now to a girl all you’re doing is comparing it to white people hair most of the time. It’s enough from comparing us to white people
yup! I think it’s easier in the shower but it adds 15-20 minutes so i understand not wanting to be there long 😅 just make sure you have a spray bottle with you to add some water during this process
And I’m so happy for the love shrinkage is getting. I got so many hateful comments saying my hair looked “ matted and nappy” when I started wearing my hair in it’s most natural state ( shrunken). Love you hair. For more separation try smaller sections, but think your hair is gorgeous.
Gorgeous hair! Gorgeous woman! 😍😍😍
Your hair is beautiful. ❤😊
Is it okay to use flaxseed jel?
You are SO BEAUTIFUL wow I’m mesmerized
There's something that feels weird to me about using a base and topper gel but I'll have to see the techniques more and get over my sensory issues 🤣🤣
Right now I'm using mousse because I work out often and wash or rinse off my hair/scalp multiple times a week lol
lol! i want to start working out 3+ times a week and i dont know how that’s gonna be. i’m honestly planning on wearing flat twists for the next month 😅😅
Thank you for the video. Your is pretty🤗
We have the exact same hair but yours shrinks more than mine does. Is it possible to have the same hair type but different levels of shrinkage
yes i think many factors contribute to how much your hair can shrink. my family has 4c hair/tight curls but depending on hair density/thickness the shrinkage is different. i have thinner/low density hair so my hair is able to shrink to it’s full capacity but my siblings with thicker/more dense hair don’t have as much shrinkage as me, it’s close but noticeability different. also we can just share similar strand size, texture, but different curl tightness. 🤗
How long do these products last???
Your hair looks similar to mine. I really would have thought this was 4b
Thanks sis. Was this always your hair routine. ?
yes it was 🥰
@@yarsudani like 3 years ago also ?
@@user-yn4wy7iq7s oh no i started my hair journey 2 years ago! ive been doing wash and gos for a little over a year now

Lol I was jsut telling my friend how I don’t understand why people say it after he said it.
I said idk why people complain about shrinkage, without shrinkage your hair would be straight, now u don’t want your hair straight do you?
Now to a girl all you’re doing is comparing it to white people hair most of the time.
It’s enough from comparing us to white people
It’s about damn time 😭😭
LOLLL my bad 😭😹
This can be done outside of the shower right?
yup! I think it’s easier in the shower but it adds 15-20 minutes so i understand not wanting to be there long 😅 just make sure you have a spray bottle with you to add some water during this process
@@yarsudani thanks for your response, I love your channel. Patiently waiting for your next upload
You are gorgeous! ❤
