  • Heyyyy :) So this is how I get my coils to really pop! I don't like using gels with this method as they weigh down my hair and prevent "maximum" shrinkage. This style is really cute and I love styling my hair this way. Since this is just one product, frizz is to be expected. The first day or two is defined with minimal frizz then it gets frizzier throughout the week, but I don't mind I love the poofy look LOL. I don't think there's any harm in using a cream + mousse for this method as creams tend to allow shrinkage (at least in my case) but I just prefer mousse alone. Honestly, I haven't tried mixing a cream + mousse, ever. Only mousse's and gels lol. I don't really think it'd turn out well as creams don't really allow my curls to clump, they're more like single "defined" coils. But also pairing 2 mousses together might be good too, if you do that at all. I don't lol, again, never tried it but I've seen people have success with it. That may offer more hold if needed. Anyways WOWZA! Thank you for 13K subscribers!! :D

Yes ma’am! This is an old school natural hair styling technique that I believe was called shingling. I used to do it all the time but with kinky curly gel. I’m mad I forgot about 😭 If I ever comb out or cut my locs off I’ll def do this

Foam was a game changer for me. I got mostly 4c hair, but the middle front is more 4b and some 4a. My hair is very low porosity, so as much as my coily hair likes heavy products for the moisture, it makes my hair more frizzy and less manageable. All the hairstylists I went to would say “your hair would be so nice in a wash’n’go!” And I was like ✋🏾No thank you, my hair don’t shingle for me, only for you lol 😆 I used foam on my edges one time, before adding edge control and 😮 it’s the only thing that makes my curls cooperate. Gel doesn’t work for me unless I have super soaking wet hair, and use half a container, then it takes 2 or more days to dry, just no. This is so much easier, and to refresh it, I just do a co-wash, and go in with the foam. I do much larger sections, shingle and finger coil some of my looser hairs. Then I let it air dry, or I go in with my diffuser. Sometimes I let it mostly air dry and then diffuse my roots on the cool setting. This method is 👩🏾‍🍳 💋

Bye cuz I’ll just have to switch to foam 😩😩 drying w a diffuser attachment takes me 3 hours and it literally makes my eye twitch saur baad😹😹 ur hair looks gorg and I think the bit of frizz gives off a carefree vibe like idk when I have friz I feel like it forces me to appreciate my hair in its simpler states but hating it is cool too 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

My texture is similar. Took me a while to figure out that wash and goes are more defined for me on damp instead of soaking wet hair. And using a heavier gel like aunt jackies or treluxe. Also just finger raking until fingers run through smooth, no tool.
