  • Today's video is the start of my "Beginners Guide to 4C Hair" series. I'm so excited for this series and hope to help people who have hair like mine have an easier time managing their hair. I don't know how many videos will be in this series, I'm kinda just going with the flow. Let me know if you enjoy this video and if you have any requests for the series!     teenager in middle school , im finally learning how to wash my hair instead of doing it any type of way. 😂😂 , My hair used to be so damaged and now im finally getting to learn more about hair.

      Don't be a dumbass like me guys (I'm old as hell, 18) and I have never ever ever washed my hair by myself. I've hardly ever even oiled it or done anything to it besides keep it braided. It is severely damaged and I'll probably have to chop 60 percent of it off 😢 or all of it.

    i feel like keeping your 4c hair trimmed is another key aspect. because our hair is high in density and SO curly. the hair strands tend to loc on themselves and split. I saw so much improvement in moisture and health after regulary trimming my hair. and i loveeeeeee my hair and i love yours too and the representation!!!!!!! im so happy young black girls are growing up with role models like u. cheers to the revolution

      yess healthy ends is key! i find that many people can’t afford trims or can’t find natural hair stylists i wish it was more accessible :// but i guess even self trimming can be beneficial! and thank you i’m happy to be apart of natural hair positivity 🫶🏾🫶🏾

      Instead of attaching bunches of store bought hair, fake or someone else's, and/ or covering it with ugly sateen bonnets making the ridiculous claim of " protecting" it. How does courting scalp inflammation and alopecia with gunk and fake hair 24/7 " protect it? 😢

    This method (no oils or butters) has been a Godsend for me!! As someone with fine hair, oils and butters have been my greatest enemy!! 😭😭
    Also, fantastic technique, every coily haired person needs to see this ❤

    This was such a well done video . The commentary and the simple esthetic was very enjoyable and informative . I also loved how there was no music in between you talking so we could actually absorb what you were saying and understand what you were doing . ❤

    As a kid growing up in the 70's, hair wash day was torture. My mom would be so rough and all I would do is cry and scream, which led to getting hit. Now when it grows, I shave it down because I just don't want to deal with it.

      Yes! I definitely also dealt with trauma from getting my hair done. Which is why I also cut it down. I’m sorry you had to deal with that! 😓💕

    I have been having issues with my hair and I thought that putting more time between my washes (every 2 weeks) would alleviate it, but your video definitely changed my mind! I can't wait to try your tips this weekend

    I love your comment on shampoo! It’s not shampoo itself, it’s using the wrong type and also the frequency you use it that can lead to dryness and other stuff.

    I have been looking at old baby/kid photos and noticed my natural hair looks so much different than how it does now. My mom has been straightning it like crazy for years, resulting in damage and having a hard time loving my hair. I want my 4c hair back :)

    This video was really helpful, thank you so much. I learned why it’s important to wash your hair regularly and I now understand why I could be struggling with scalp sensitivity. Could you please do a video showing how to wash/ keep your hair clean in braids because when I get braid I like to keep it for a long time especially when they were expensive but the my hair gets super dry and dirty.

    Honestly I just wash my hair every two weeks and use conditioner a lot and my hair doesn't break. Hair growth is natural so just focus on avoiding tension on your strands that leads to breakage. At the end of the day your hair is perfect with enough care.

    My 4c hair is 10-12 inches and it also takes me 30-40mins to wash, detangle and dry

    OMG i just realized my mom used to wash my hair with her nails and thats why i used to find little bumps and scabs on my scalp! But i wash my hair by myself now

      Omg, me too. I have bumps as well. My mum used to detangle my hair with shampoo as well, not conditioner and it was so painful. When I learnt how to wash my hair myself, I was literally dancing with joy.

    8:00 yes! Same for meee! I also have trichotillomania, which is even worse because I pick out my edges and my front and side of my hair is already so thin and fragile that it’s harder for me to style. I’m working on it though.😅

    I have 3C/4C hair. I have my times most times. I just learn how to manage my hair as I go and to mostly find the right products. My little has 4C and wants to do it herself and it's hard because she up in age as a child that don't understand how to yet? It gets tangled fast and hard to deal with because of her stubbornness. As a mother I try my best.

    kept in conditioner for 5-6 mins, then detangled, braided them, then washed out.

    Once a week, I shampoo then deep condition. Then I comb my hair. It’s best for me to comb it after dc because it’s no struggle.
