I think especially the og 8 movies could use some inflation ajustment. Especially the early ones, because the first one is 16 years older than fb1. And cinema tickets got a lot more expensive too

It’s important to note that prisoner of Azkaban got released in the summer movie season . Which is traditionally more competitive, than their usual fall movie release .
Less than a moth later Spider-Man 2 premiered. And that was another blockbuster.

I think they should have released prizoner of azkaban during the fall instead of the summer. It wouldn’t have had any other big blockbusters to compete with. Prizoner of azkaban also has a much darker tone compared to the first two Harry Potter films. And the tone for prizoner of azkaban would have fit perfectly during halloween time.

I think the most astonishing fact that was missed out was that three of these films were the biggest films of their respective years, and Deathly Hallows Part II was the third highest grossing movie of all time for a while, being the highest grossing movie not made by James Cameron in the world as well.

I still remember vividly being in the theater with my little ( now taller than me) brother. Such a happy memory sitting there and watching chamber of secrets 🤩
Would have been cool to see how much they made after costs, including what the actors got paid.
This goes to show that if Warner Bros did the Fantastic Beast series right, the series could've made records. How they managed to fail it is beyond me, a round table of experienced creators and executives should've known better. This franchise is a gold mine, and even in this money grabbing culture going on, they couldnt even manage that.

I only had to think about why Prisoner of Azkaban would have been one of the lowest making movies for a couple seconds before I realized Spider-Man 2 also came out the same Summer. The answer is Spider-Man 2. Kids and parents would’ve full stop choose that movie over Harry Potter because it’s fucking Spider-Man and literally nothing like it had ever been done before. It literally laid the foundation of how and why the mcu was so successful.
When you take inflation into the mix, the numbers are probably vastly different. I mean look at the prices they charge at the movie theaters. Back when the first few movies came out, they cost maybe $7 per person and now they are around $16. the value of the dollar meant more so the numbers are not perfect,
That the first movie is in the number 2 spot despite that is crazy. That movie made bank

I love how much time and reserch you put into your videos. Again, I've dreamed what you do if my fanfics were cannon. Since I can't imagine anyone else but you doing videos of them if my stories were canon. That's how much I'd admire you and your talent.
As for how much money they make? I don't normally think about money. I just want to judge for myself if I like it or not. That's why I don't listen to movie criqitues or spoiler videos and such. I want to judge it on my terms without any bias opinions.
I understand for the movie makers that money matters. But sometimes I think its up to the audaince to decided for themselves if it rises or falls.
But again, if my stories were magically canocial I can only image you doing videos about the characters and stories themselves. Again wish that could happen even if it won't. But I hope you take some pride in the fact I think that highly of you!

I recently watched all of the 8 movies again and I have a favorite which is not everyone's favorite I guess- Chamber Of Secrets. Let me say that the first two films were amazing and the last one was good too. I tried to count how many inaccuracies there are in the first film and I found 17 changes in 8 minutes which made me even more clear how different the two medias are. I guess from the film makers perspective they want to give the viewer the main idea and the rest is less important for them to be accurate about. I think that had they made book accurate movies they would have gotten a lot more money for it. As for what you said about yourself Morgan I feel you brother- I myself suffer from two mental issues and I am not afraid to say PTSD and sociopath.

The first two films are my favorite. The rest it depends on what mood I'm in to watch. I don't recall how many times I've watched the first two movies whereas I can count the number of times of the later films.

@@sumaya274 Basically it means a person who is having a hard time blend in society. I can have friends but I call no one normally. I can be alone and I am not suffering from it at all. My trust need to be earned but I am not quick to give it and once anyone breaks it I will never trust this person again end of story. Pretty much a life of almost complete solitude. I am struggling to go against it but it's not easy be sure of that.

It makes sense that Prisoner of Azkaban didn’t make as much. When making a series of movies, with the time, each one makes less. There was a lot of hype for the 1st one, so it natural for it to make a lot but the 2nd one, that’s when it starts to fall.
What made Goblet of Fire make more is Voldemort. The villain everyone is so scared of comes back, Cedric dies which for a book made into movie aimed at kids, was a big thing. The Triwizard tournament translated so well for a Hollywood movie and even if book fans hated it, the movie was well made for a bigger audience. As someone who didn’t read the books as a kid, there was something in GoF that was so enjoyable to watch and I would always go back to that one.
And in the end, it helped get the series back on track. If GoF would’ve made less than PoA, the series would’ve been cancelled, as it happened with Fantastic Beasts.
I doubt it would’ve been cancelled, the decline was quite small and it still made huge amounts compared to the FB flop

When comparing box office you can also adjust for inflation. Won't be as big as a difference for something 50 years apart but would be interesting to see how much a difference it does make

@MovieFlame I have a cool idea i think only you could pull off (out of all the HP RUclipsrs) . Harry potter has many great things stories could be made about, anyways throughout the books and movies there are references to the first wizarding world and marauder's. A movie could be made about this. Seeing as your Wizarding world knowledge is immense, and you had an education about movie bussines. (not sure what it was called. You could make a video about the Plot points it could have and things that should be added. I know no movie is coming about this so who other then you could make a vid about this. (incase somebody already said this sorry) If anyone thinks its a good idea just give it a thumbs up so he sees it. Comment other things he could do for that vid. I really think it would be a great vid.

@@dylangasserstudios2620 even the worst selling one made over 400 million and that’s without being released in certain countries (that is still really good 90% of movies never make it up to $400 million) secondly if they don’t finish it people will lose confidence in future products in the franchise of wizard in world because they’re going to say, hey why am I gonna watch this new movie series that could be five or six parts when they’re not gonna finish it. It would be extremely stupid to not finish fantastic beast.

Prisoner of Azkaban is ahead of its time, I don't know how to explain it but the cinematography was out of this world, especially for 2004.
Imo this is the best film series it just gives me nostalgia and they deserve every penny they got

All the movies combined costed an estimate 1.74 billion dollars to make. Meaning the movies made a massive profit of 10.66 billion dollars or 481.81 million dollars per year profit. Not to shabby 😂
