Reason for the stepout is probably that the rear axle is shot. Standard issue on 405s. Bearings wear out and you get water ingress into the axle taps, then rust starts and it needs a whole new rear beam...
Im an iranian. My grandfather had had this car since 2008. In iran, this car is still being manufactured. Love it. Unfortunately, it stopped manufacturing.
For what it's worth, lovely review of an absolutely BEAUTIFUL car, inside, outside, under the bonnet, everywhere and everything thing about it was just beautiful, and satisfying and special. Thanks for doing the review. You did nothing at all wrong in that corner. That council could have blood on its hands with their stupid steel. Health and safety my arse.
thanks! glad you enjoyed it! I've since taken the car on track a couple of times, and this car is so much fun on the track. the rear end wants to step out all the time but you can counter steer so easily and modulate the slide with the throttle.
Just found your channel. Great reviews and I love that you really seem to enjoy different cars that aren't the fastest or sexiest cars out there (true enthusiast). And also NICE SAVE!! that was proper good.
I like the mi16. It would be hard to maintain and get parts for in the states. So few sold. Very cheap plastics inside, electrical nightmare, but a very nice chassis.
Very good condition and a Phase 1 as well, at least 30 years old. I have a running and driving white 1993 phase 2 in the UK (MOT until april 23). I would have prefered a Phase 1 as that is what I had in the mid 90's but with so few available i couldn't be picky!
i had the same problem on my 405 it's the exaust collector heat shield bolt that get loose and fall. you have to thighten them or get some new one. easy fix
My dad was operations manager of peugeot factory in Coventry UK in the very early 90s. He had one of these as his company car. Damn did he drive that thing. I remember countless times he hit 130mph during early morning trips down the m5. Crazy with kids in the car but hey it was the 90s. Also he was hiding alcoholism at the time, later it eventuated into extreme alcoholism that ruined his life. I cant tell u how many times he topped 100mph, whilst downing 4 cans of special brew, and telling me dont tell mum i had a beer. 😂
I love the 405 MI16 but it depends on what kind of driving you will be doing most of the time. For in town tight roads, I will always prefer the 205 GTI. but if you you need to mix it up with motorway driving then then 405 MI16 is a really good choice. In fact, last month I just took the 405 MI16 to a track day and I never had so much fun before. The car is like a dancing partner on track. you can get it to lift off oversteer beautifully, and it will be cornering with the rear inner wheel lifted from the ground. It was such a great experience. Kind of regret not filming it
@@elliotpoulmarck3086 you should test drive it. The 405 has very light steering that might put you off at first. But once your muscle memory calibrate to it you’ll soon find out its quite delicate and communicative
I thought that it was just Irish and British who had bum engineers in the local councils. What kind of idiot would think that putting steel strips, the slickest thing they could put, on a ROAD, and wait for it - ON A CORNER!!! - was a good idea?????? 🙄🙄🙄
haha right? I learnt that these things are called expansion joints. but they should never place an expansion joint where the cornering G's are the highest, thats a design error from the civil engineers.

Notchy shifter is a 80s/90s peugeot thing.
They've massive grip and on a back road will happily out perform alot of modern cars
It's just the right level of notchy i think. Not enough to make it feel like i have to punch the gears to shift.

no its from the wet expansion joint on the road in combination with oldish tires
Pug 405 mi16 is the hidden gem paws💜

You're very right.
Like many great cars of the past, its very compromised

Nice car
What camera r u using to make video's???
DJI pocket 2
Thanks
It was a super relaxing ASMR video until you started the engine 😂
oops lol

Thats awesome and scary at the same time
It is the same engine as Citroen Bx 16v? 1.9 160hp?
Yes it is
You need to take it on some twisting roads! :-)
Yea I did, just didn't get it on film. Excellent car
hey, im looking for a project car, i live in france so peugot isnt too hard to find, would u recommend this model or not ?

I used a DJI Pocket 2
dose the owner sell that spare engine he has ?
Hi, I dont think so
That same incident in a 205 would have been an accident for sure
Lol saved by a sightly longer wheel base. Lesson learnt don't push it on that bridge when wet. Slippery expansion joints Is like ice
Only if you are a noob driver.
@@zepter00 even for experienced drivers the 205s and 106s can catch you out. The 405 is a far far more capable car
Hello, my first car, of model (GR) is the great car is very funny. Tomorrw i have one (406 coupe)
0:09 PEUGEOT
Cuida mucho ese auto
I would be really mad if someone mistreated my 405 this way...it's not a playground! In Europe it would have cost you your drivers license.
Actually the owner drives this car much harder than me.
Thanks for your warning though
