I had one of this exact colour/spec. Great car! In fact, mine was the silver one now shown on the bottom of the Wikipedia page for the Peugeot 405 (reg "H14 NSH")
Good drivers cars , had a x2 series ones a petrol & diesel then a later minor facelift TD very good handling and a good drive, never owned a Mi16 but often thought of getting one at the time.
Owned two of these. Both series 2's, the first white paint the second burgundy. Great car, always would get comments from other car blokes around the place. Hardly ever see them anymore, thanks to many dickheads wrecking them to pull out the engine and gearbox for their piss-slow 205's. This car was the better drive, no question.
Haven't they aged well when compared to Sierra or cavalier. I'm a massive 205/309 fan, I had a 205 aged 21, and decided to get another last year to relive my youth. My dad had a 90 (H) 405 mi16 x4 and really rated it, I always remember it being so comfortable when I was a lad.
When the MK2 came out it was renamed the Le Mans. The interior was much more modern and had a more quality feel. The exterior was tidier and the boot opened down to the bumper. At the time. Martin Brundle had a Peugeot dealership in Norfolk called Brundlesport.
Great car, I wanted one at the time but the headroom for the driver was pathetic. With the driver's seat at its lowest position my head was still rubbing on the sunroof surround.
Absolutely love the early 16v engine. Used to work on them at Peugeot and later with Citroën too.
They thrive on revs.
To my mind the 405 Mi16 is a future classic and it certainly looks the part from every angle
Wheeler Dealers (Dec 2023) just did one and got £20k via auction after buying one for £5700 and spending £2k on it. You were right!
As with most Peugeots, they are timeless classics.
Still a very good looking car today.

Citroen/peugeot chassis engineers in that era - genius
I remember these from back in the day. Especially the red ones. 👌🏽
peugeot 405 mi16 , 605 and especially 406 v6 were the best middle class sedan cars that ever made
This engine had already appeared in the Citroen BX GTi 16v the year before, but not surprised he didn’t mention that!
La 405 est une voiture exceptionnelle!! J'adore cette voiture:)
Pininfarina's beauty!
When Peugeot made good cars.
What a nice find! It would seem that Martin's presentation skills have come a long way.
Just purchased a UK based 93 L reg MI16. Love them and had 2 back in the 90's.
What did you pay for it mate? If you don’t mind me asking?
Awesome!!

Brundle managed not to crash, well done 👍
How young is Martin here? This is DEFINITELY pre Grid walk Martin Brundle 😉

Very interesting, I had no idea Martin Brundle had a dealership! Thanks for your comment 🙏
I had a black one as my first car which was a good choice but I still wanted a 205GTI
I always preferred the 405 Sri
Slightly slower but just looked a bit neater
0:44 GEOT 405 Mi16
Neighbors had one,it was a terrible engine fire, car looked fine but engine had melted.

Sadly, being too tall for a car has never been an issue for myself!
