I missed out on this generation, I've had four 406s, two Xantias, two 407s, a 306, a ZX and two 307s. Always thiught the mk1 406 V6 was the best Peugeot ever made but I've been told the 405 Mi16's handling is on another level.
The understeer will be old tyres. But the 405 should not be behaving in the manner seen and described at low speed. Check the rear axle mounts, they can cause snap over steer so can bad p bushes. And a bad gearbox mount can cause it to.
Thanks for the feedback. My 205 is slightly lowered so the front is suffering a bit from positive castor. I will try installing slightly longer wishbones to counter this. As for the 405, actually we took it to the track recently, and i had a blast in it. So much fun to get it to lift off oversteer and very easy to control the oversteer with the throttle pedal. My friend following behind said the rear wheel would constantly lift up during cornering.
I wonder if it's your strut tower bushing gets soft causing some understeer, I upgraded mine to Polyurethane in the 405 and that immediately correct the understeer. You can find them on ebay.
I've had two Mi16's and driven 205 GTi a few times. Always thought the 405 had great balance and the 205's are nowhere near worth the price these days. Still get an mi16 for under 10k and they're a great drive, as long as they've had a good life under the respective owners. Must be serviced by Pug specialists and no silly business with the engine components. Exit speed in the Mi16 was my only gripe, not quite enough torque, but you just had to exit ever corner in 2nd or 3rd in the redline and just go for it.
I agree with you. the 405 is an excellent car when driven near the limit. the gearing on it is also far tighter than the 205 Gti. but for the general public, the fun-ness of the 205 Gti is easier to exploit due it its chunky torque curve and shorter wheel base. that's why the 205 is such a great city run about car that is able to make even the most mundane drives into a heroic one.
nice video! i would love to compare my car with both of you guys, i have a 306 S16 (mk2 mi16 acav engine). I always wondered the differences between theese 3 cars, i see the 306 as a middle term between the 205 gti and the 405 mi16! cheers fro brasil!
I've owned both these cars in the video, drove both road and track incl. the infamous Nürburgring, and loved them both but then tried my buddy's 306 GTI 6 sp. gearbox and that would be my choice today, great car, good brakes from stock, get 200 bhp out of it and you're flying 🙂
@@FizzyMotors Need to go to Thailand to test mi16 asap. Lol. I used to have 306 and 406. My dream car is 405 but unfortunately they highest trim is in sti lemans model, not the mi16.
Something is wrong if this is understeering in the dry. You should be able to lift off the throttle halfway through the turn and the ass will come around. It gets intuitive, addictive and downright dangerous.
I had bad understeer when I made the front too stiff by upgrading all the suspension. At first I solved it by disconnecting the front anti-roll bar. Then I realised my wishbone bushes were just crap even though they were brand new.@@FizzyMotors
Two great cars on a great road in a great country. The 205 is a myth here in Europe. Massive like
lol thanks!

If you've yet to experience lift off oversteer in your 205, be ready. It is SUDDEN !
Nice driving skills krub. I wish I can join with u guys😍
it was epic! thanks!

Nice mountain track..
I miss it already
Nice video 👍
Thanks 👍
Were 205 gti and 405 mi16 officially sold in Thailand?
The MI16 yes
The 205gti nope. They only sold 3 door GTI with GTI badging, but without the right engine and suspension

@edoputrawijaya8772 finding a clean mi16 is near impossible, they are considered unicorns
Lets do a multi-cam setup ;)
im scared it'll fly off hahah

Yea exactly
I want it to oversteer more
I think the camber is wrong on my car because it looks positive now
