Hey another good video.. its good to see Az on camera at the end because it gives a good perspective on the drinks taste from someone who isnt so used to drinking such varied cocktails.
My wife and I love Campari but we enjoy Suze when we want a similar bitter component as change up with an earthy undertone. We still love our traditional Negroni but also very much enjoy a White Negroni! I know you said you tried other blanc vermouth's. We love Dolin Dry for our 5:1 Martinis but found the Dolin Blanc lacking something the Lillet Blanc brought to the White Negroni. The sweeter, richer Lillet Blanc brought a perfect balance to the earthy Suze in this recipe for us. Keep up the great videos and yes, give us more Az on camera. Just like in cocktails. It's all about balance. :)
I adore the White Negroni! What a great discovery this summer. My build is 2:1.5:1 gin/Lillet/Suze. And I've been using a Spanish gin called Akori. The floral notes compliment both the Suze and Lillet really well. Great, great, great choice, Anders! And yes, we love seeing Az! She's just wonderful!
I like Az on camera. She adds a bit more life to videos. Also I like bloopers at the end. Me and my wife are binge watching your playlists once in a while and it is fun to see your guys interactions and reactions to drinks.
I enjoy when she is with you at the end. One of favorites is when you guys did the original Nagroni and Americano! The two of you just chatting about the drinks (and the loud truck haha) was just good wholesome content!
I, personally, really love the dynamic between you two. You’re a great, fun couple and would appreciate seeing even more of your playing off one another. Cheers to you both.
Another great video, Anders! Also, yes, I think we all love it when Az comes out at the end to give her opinion on the drink(s) you've just made! Keep it up! :-)
Hi Anders. I've been watching your videos for about 6 months now. I recently moved cities and the owner of the restaurant that I applied at loves Negronis. I followed your recipe to the point and I got the job. He loved it so much. I've been incorporating alot of what you do in your videos into my work. I also love Ango. I find it works very well in alot of cocktails. Thanks so much for all the great tips and advice and keep pouring those cocktails. Zach A Bartender
Love hearing about your success, Zach! Glad he liked the Negroni, but you got that job all on your own. Happy mixing as you continue to grow behind the bar! Cheers! 🥃
@@AndersErickson Thanks so much. They're also training me as the Bar Manager since the current one left. It's a stressful job but Rome wasn't built in a day. To The Bar!!!
Man! I just discovered your channel like on day ago and I am more addicted to it than I am to my current Netflix series! Super inspirational, helpful and positive content. Keep it up, greetings from Germany!
Love the history, love seeing Az tasting and reacting to drinks, love Anders’ deadpan reactions to her fun reactions. You guys are becoming my post-pandemic drinking buddies.
Az, is great as she adds an element of the consumer/viewer, her reactions are less seasoned and more authentic! bloodly love this channel though, keep up the amazing work!!
Love your videos and I've been playing with your drink recipes with great enthusiasm. Many of them have been very welcomed by my wife and friends! Honestly having Oz (spelling?) opinion is a great addition that I not only enjoy but appreciate when planning one of you drinks on my wife or her friends when they have a gathering at our home. Side note: my new knowledge of drinks has been a hit when going out for a drink at a bar and inquiring with the bartenders. It's fun to talk about their twists on drinks they make and what they personally like. Thank you for your hard work on your Blogs!!!! Forever a fan!!
I'm so glad Az (is that correct?) became more of a part of your vids. She has a lovely personality that rounds everything out beautifully. She's like the simple syrup in a Jungle Bird: she doesn't seem like she'd be all that important, but really rounds out and balances the whole.
I only ever drink a white negroni on days that have a “y” in them. My preference is:- 40ml Tanqueray 10 30ml Dolin Blanc 20ml Suze Truly a cocktail to be cherished.
Az is great wherever she wants to be. I really enjoy hearing her laugh off camera, I really enjoy seeing and hearing hear on camera. You're both fantastic!
In herbal medicine, gentian is one of the most bitter herbs used. It’s used for liver and digestion issues. It’s called a cholagogue which means it stimulates the liver to make bile. Bile is vital for digestion which is why bitter liquors are used. I haven’t tried Suze yet but it’s on my list. Thanks for making such great cocktail videos! Cheers!
Az’s masterful work behind the camera, with that incredible framing and focus that actually catches lemon oil hitting the drink, is like the National Geographic of bar cinema. But seeing her in front of the camera makes the videos even better and highlights the partnership of the best channel on RUclips. Cheers to both of you.
It's not just your face we want to see, Az it's your effervescent personality, the way you and Anders interact. It's just fun when you show up and give your two cents on the cocktail!
I just love that slightly reluctant "oh-kay" from Az in the beginning when Anders ask her to come "to the bar" - and than in the end this marvelous solo performance opera style reaction on the Suze 🤣🤣😂😁 couldn't imagine the channel anymore without your apperances Az! 🥰
I spent years trying to track down Suze, until one day it just magically appeared at my liquor store. So I immediately bought two bottles 😆 Here's one I love that uses it (my creation): Black-eyed Susan 1 1//2 oz London dry gin 1/2 oz Suze 3/4 oz lemon juice 1/2 oz black pepper infused simple syrup Served up in a Nick & Nora with a salt + black pepper rim around half the glass
While I wouldn’t phase it as wanted to see Az’s face, I do enjoy when she tries a drink. Getting someone else’s input is always helpful, especially on the drinks that Az has never tried before, like this video. Plus the banter between you two is always good as well.
One of the reasons this channel is so good is because of Az. When a professional bartender, or even someone that has been making and experimenting with drinks for years makes a video, you're never really sure how the cocktail will be received by a "normal" palate. While Az has certainly sampled many drinks she doesn't have the flavor profiles ingrained in her mind the way someone constantly tinkering does. Her reaction is the reaction to the WHOLE cocktail, not necessarily how each part plays. It's like the difference between a foodie and a professional chef. The foodie is really judging the whole dish, the chef is breaking each component down to see what could be improved or why something might be to their likening. All that is just a long way of saying...MORE AZ!!!!!!
Anders has the best youtube channel on this website don’t @ me. No but honestly though, I love all your content and I literally steal your weekly videos to decide what I’m making the next week for my day off. Paper Planes by the pool tomorrow and now I have another drink to add to my arsenal.
My new Friday routine has become watching your video on my lunch break, heading to the liquor store after work to get the components, and enjoying the drink while watching a new Ted Lasso.
Excellent! And seeing Az, and having another (perhaps quite different?) palate providing an evaluation is a great idea. It makes your vids even better. 🙂
Live your channel! I was never big fan of cocktails but after seeing your videos you inspired me to make negroni and now I'm addicted to it and your channel! Great stuff Anders!
I have not bartended in my life and generally have total/complete ignorance when it comes to mixology. Your channel has inspired me try, while giving me a great reason to stock home bar. I tried this drink and I’m not a fan, but my wife likes it. All booze and easy to make so good for me regardless. Love your channel, content, and delivery. Keep up the excellent work. PS - I like Az’s opinion and descriptions on cocktails.
Yaaay Az & Yaaay almost at 100k! I consumed the last of my Suze almost 6 months ago and now can’t find it anywhere near me, but had obviously made a White Negroni and it is one of my favourite ways to start an evening. Great stuff as always!
Can you do an overview video of various amari, fortified wines, etc? I'd love to learn more about them side-by-side and perhaps which you think are the most essential/best value? I always feel a little lost browsing these at the store.
Yes - we love when Az pops out from behind the camera to play at the bar. Otherwise, we'd never get to see that fantastic reaction at the end. Keep at it - swell stuff, this!
I would like to see Az give more tasting notes, I can see her in a restaurant, people at the table would be like" Yes, I can actually taste that" no fancy sommelier talk here. Love it!
You TWO have such a cool fun vibe. Really love learning from your channel. Everything I have made has been awesome, and my lady and I enjoy it all! Thanks for that!
I was like 999, so close to being the magic 1K like. Definitely making this cocktail, love your description and the history. My favorite drinks channel right now - thank you!
Love your channel! The cocktail history, the breakdown of the chemistry, and you guys just have a genuine vibe. I was recently introduced to the Mezcal Negroni which is my favorite cocktail currently (El Buho, Campari, Vermouth)…it’s a nice earthy/smoky taste. I will try this variation soon! Thanks!
Hey Anders! I'm not usual to type a comment on youtube but i'm legittimately watching all your videos so, yeah. I just wanted to thank you sincerely for all the knowledge you're giving me. I am going to attend a bartender course soon and all these general hints you give in your videos (such as dry shaking for egg whites or the stir&strain technique for spirits only cocktails) are legit making me a better future bartender.
The Negroni and all it’s variations are all special for me. Swapping components and trying new vermouths and aperitifs keeps it interesting although nothing beats the classics.😉
bitter, dry , dirt, not kidding, sounds good to me. And of course we love to see the beautiful and personable Az. You guys are a great team..right now, my favorite youtubers.
ohhh yess my favorite time of day is here. Nothing more to signify Friday vibes more then to watch this exquisite footage of the making of a cocktail I've never heard of before! Love it bro.

Yes we want to see Az more, not that you are not enough (you are totally awesome), but you totally complement each other and making total balance like your cocktails.
Thanks Anders. You have the best cocktail vids and recipes. Keep up the great content. I’ll be in Chicago next week, any recommendations for a cocktail bar? Violet Hour or Aviary perhaps?
I’m so excited for Negroni Week! I plan to celebrate with a different recipe each day. This will be one. I like the modified ratios here. I was turned on to Suze after reading David Liebovitz’ Drinking French. Suze and tonic is so good.
Funny thing that Suze smuggling because over here in Quebec it’s always been readily available, plus we’re just a short drive off NYC. Oh, and you can swap Suze for Salers which is another yellow gentian grand bitter.
What a great idea this White Negroni. If you use Citadelle Gin, you call it French Negroni 😁 Lilet is made in my village so very happy to see it in an international video. Very proud. You said Suze is a bitter, I prefer call it gentiane liquor. Thanks for all your videos 👍🏻

Keep the drinks coming! And Az in front of the cam too! We WANT TO SEE AZ!!
If Az starts singing like that after she tastes a drink, then, yes, definitely keep bringing her on camera!
the interaction is great
I like Az on camera. She adds a bit more life to videos. Also I like bloopers at the end.
Me and my wife are binge watching your playlists once in a while and it is fun to see your guys interactions and reactions to drinks.
Appreciate that, Vlad! Happy you're enjoying the content. Cheers!

I, personally, really love the dynamic between you two. You’re a great, fun couple and would appreciate seeing even more of your playing off one another. Cheers to you both.
Love this drink! If you can’t find Suze (like me) the recipe I use for a White Negroni is
1 oz Gin
1 oz Bitter Bianco
1 oz Blanc Vermouth
Excellent substitution - thanks for sharing, Thomas!
I'm two years late to this comment, but I like doing
1 part gin
1 part lillet Blanc
Half part suze
Half part bitter bianco
Another great video, Anders! Also, yes, I think we all love it when Az comes out at the end to give her opinion on the drink(s) you've just made! Keep it up! :-)
Yes Az, we do like seeing you. We love this channel that you and Anders made together, and we like seeing you two together. You’re a great team 👍🏼

Love this drink. I often use Salers aperitif in place of Suze and Cocchi Americano in place of Lillet. The Gentian flavor is so unique. I love it.
