Leafs not making any trades (impactful) on the deadline, day after losing to their own Zambobi driver. Very clear this team doesn’t have what it takes before this happened...and Dubas almost did nothing even after this embarrassment.

Even though the Canes lost both goalies and a defenseman to injuries, they did their best to make the zamboni driver's experience the best it could be.
They seemed to have succeeded as well.

Seriously though, the dudes nerves looked shredded after the first shot and goal. To come back in the third and face 7 professional, chaotic, NHL'r shots and shut it down... The dude crushed it.
And huge props to the Canes players for the love taps and kind words after both goals and again starting the third. To be ahead and in that situation, looking at possibly losing, and then to tell the EBUG, "just have fun with it"?! Tons of character!
The fact that Ayers even had a maple leaf on his dang helmet makes this even more bizarre.
It was Marlies equipment he borrowed. It's not even his.

Well, I would like to thank Steve Dangle for all his hard work on Dang Its over the past few seasons. I think the Leafs finally broke him. This may the end of Mr. Dangle as we know it. Brad Marchand doing another embarrassingly stupid thing is the only one who can bring our beloved host back to his senses at this point.

sent a video of this fine event to my Pastor, who is from Toronto, living in the Southeast US now. He has shared the Zamboni driver video with all his Canadian friends and relatives... hope for all folks over 40 who wanted to play in the NHL...
Again, Canes gave him 6 goals to work with. Wouldve been a massively different story if this had been a 0-0 game. Also, the Canes looked like they really put their all into the effort. Played really hard for him.
If the Canes had won 6-5 and not 6-3 this would be a better argument. The game was tied 3-3 going into the third period.
@@psymar 4-3 going to the 3rd. Kerfoot scored in the first, then Carolina ripped off 4 unanswered, then the two by Tavares and Engvall made it 4-3. Foegele and Nieces added 2 more in the third for the 6-3 final.

If the Canes win it all this season... Does Ayres get his name on the cup?
Well since we know they didn't, it's moot but actually no, he wouldn't have. You have to have played a minimum numbers of games in the regular season OR have played in at least one game in the SCF to qualify. the Canes could petition the league to get his name added -- which happens quite often -- but the reason would have to be compelling enough for the league to grant the petition (there's also a limit on how many names you can squeeze into the space you get for a win). If this had been the game that put them in the playoffs MAYBE they can make a case, but they were above the cut line already, and a couple of weeks later the season got derailed, so they were already in the qualifying round, even as a WC.

I'm 50/50 on that Clifford hit. I definitely don't believe he intended on hurting the goalie BUT I do believe he saw him there. The reason I say this is because of the way he approaches the puck. He doesn't skate it with 2 hands to control it and get a shot off, he extends his arm out to poke the puck away because he knows the goalie is out of position and it could lead to a goal. With that said, yes I believe Clifford saw him skating out, no I don't think he intended on bulldozing him down and hurting him.
