Hate the Leafs, Love the Dangle. He has always come across as a guy i could spend every wednesday night eating cheap wings with and complaining about our favourite teams.
I'm a former TSN and Sportsnet employee -- I'm not in the industry anymore. But I would say morale and toxicity when i worked at Sportsnet was probably the worst place I have ever worked. It was sad to work somewhere you had dreamed of working and being part of hockey at lunch with talent...but being beaten down by management and the work environment. I was glad Steve is running his own thing and kicking ass.
Fantastic season. I was one of Steve's earliest subs, and it's been so great to see how he's progressed, while remaining humble and hilarious. Great job. Subbed
I am 4+ years in and still trying to "make it" no idea if im succeeding or not but im glad I found this show. Great interview cant wait to see what comes next!
I started a mobile auto detailing company 2 years ago. First year was a success! Second year tried to grow the business, and then health issues arose. Never recovered
I'm just a casual hockey fan but Dangle and SDPN has totally reeled me in because it reminds me of chatting with my old friends. We were each smart in our own ways. But I have zero hockey intelligence. So I'd just sit back and listen and be fascinated that we all watched the same game although they seemed to pick out so many more details about it than I could. The older network sport TV version of this had its flow interrupted so often that the conversations tended to end abruptly without consensus. But most of my hockey conversations among friends ended up with some sort of consensus and appreciation for the other party's opinion, which Dangle/SDPN has and which I didn't think I'd appreciate as much as I do. It's so refreshing in 2024, particularly online.
It’s crazy for me to think, my favourite RUclipsr recorded a podcast in the same room where my band recorded a song just a couple of weeks ago. Love it
Can't wrong with, and nothing more real than Steve Dangle! I wish you well with the new channel. I am happy to be your "John Tavares" (91st) subscriber....and probably the first from Japan. Keep 'em coming!

Came for Steve Dangle and was super happy to hear all about The Commoners! Used to love watching your band in Toronto :) Looking forward to see where this Podcast takes you !
I owe Steve a ton for how he's helped me in my life. He helped me love hockey again after losing that love due to bullying from a group of online fans and he was especially helpful in making my grandfather's final months as comfortable as possible with his advice on how to handle things. His passion for the Leafs and hockey is awe inspiring and he's an incredible person.
huge fan of the Montreal Canadian and for some reason, I am hooked to Steve. He is great with his two partner in crime: Jesse Blake and Adam Wylde! Let's go!
17:30 I have always thought that the reason people watch Steve is the same reason people read stories, watch movies, play games and what have you. It's emotion. We are addicted to emotion and feelings. Steve wear his heart in his sleeve and shows a lot of emotion and it's easy to vicariously feel those emotions watching him even if you're not a leaf fan. The same way we feel emotions of the main character of a story we FEEL what Steve is feeling because he is so good at expressing those feelings. It's an empathetic issue.
Such a great episode with steve. Im not a Leafs fan so i dont always agree with him but hes incredibly entertaining to watch and i love his energy as im the same way about my team.
Been following Steve since "the bedroom" seasons. He's been saying what I've been thinking after every game with such precision and wit, of COURSE he's the new Voice of the Fans.
When Steve talked about looking up at a burnt lightbulb and realizing it was his job as a boss to change that bulb it reminded me of my little brother. My father started a mechanical contracting business when we were boys; schools, hospitals, apartment buildings...stuff like that. Eventually, he retired and I took over, later my little brother joined me in the office. One day some of the guys called from a job site and told my brother about a problem they were having that they couldn't figure out. My brother turned to me and asked me who we could call for an answer and I had to break it to him. "Us. We are who gets called. There is no one else. We will have to just figure it out." He looked at me slightly alarmed as he realized that all the decisions he had been requesting from the office for the past while had been made by me. "Every time? We have to solve every problem?" I just nodded. Sometimes you just have to figure it out. It becomes a mindset. Not that you know everything, just that you do not automatically look for someone else when a problem arises, before at least taking a shot yourself.
Doesn't know Princess Diaries? That's the movie Steve was talking about with Anne Hathaway lol. Well, now you have to watch it. If it helps, I believe the lead singer of Rooney plays her love interest in the first movie. 😊
I hate Toronto, I hate their fans, and I hate Dangle. But I will give him this, he has brass cojones for actually leaving a big name TV channel like Sportsnet. He did it at the right time because had he stayed longer and Sportsnet would have fired him out of the blue without a warning and not even saying a goodbye. Knowing how big name tv channels can be quite toxic.
I also got the pity grade from my math teacher but I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not. I was well behaved but just terrible at math and I wasn't sure if my teacher liked me or not. While looking over my grades in my 11th grade math class, I saw that one of my homework grades was put in as an 1100% and this bumped my grade from a D to a B. I'm still not sure how it happened but I didn't say anything and it wasn't corrected. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason I ended up with a C instead of anything lower.
Wait....did you guys get an English minor with the RTA degree? Fucking hell, when I was there you just had to do all the english classes and you didn't get shit. Great show. Keep it up.
1:25:30 - well you already have a smug producer that does not like the Leafs, and how is that working out? He is like the man in the shadows who exaggeratedly claps slowly and loudly whenever we are all boisterously celebrating a Leaf goal or win. And an ominous and noxious dust begins to rise within the midst of our collective joy….like a shiny apple that turns sour and rotten within your very grasp…at the moment you’ve already bitten into but a single morsel. Yeah. Wouldn’t it be great if you had an actual family member who was JUST LIKE THAT?
I love Steve, I was so sad when I learned his Steve's Dang Its series ended.
