      Yeah, if there is still a Ukraine (or human race) when this is over, we can hope they'll have seen enough during this shit show to NOT agree to that.
      And no, we're talking about a country (and the EU) that have already ban practically all firearms in civilian hands. For them, "whoops, boating accident" wouldn't cut it. "Losing" them would result in nothing more than an expensive paper weight that they couldn't even use as a paper weight. They'll have to choose, turn them in or make it their right to keep. Half measures are largely what got the world to this point, continuing to give in to demands and mandates is the same as bending over with cheeks spread.

    Honestly, Scott should consider starting a company that operates as a Firearms Safety And Specification testing contractor.
    A.K.A. You get paid to stress test firearms until they break or fail. The bonus being that you (Scott) get pursue this new found interest in seeing how guns fail (catastrophically in your case) AND make the final products that reach the market safer for everyone.
    Kind of like if a job safety inspector carried a double-stuffed golden .50 BMG round & an Altyn Helmet instead of a clipboard & a hardhat.

    I've been replaying the first Ghost Recon lately due to the whole Ukraine-Russia war situation.
    Not only did that game predict the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, but the plot itself sounds eerily similar to the situation going on right now. At the first two levels, you're fighting separatists backed by the Russian government, and then Russia invades the country proper with the goal of reestablishing the old Soviet empire. This game was released in 2001.
    Well, then again, Tom Clancy was always able to predict crazy shit simply by taking military technology and geopolitics to their logical conclusions. He also predicted 9/11 with Debt of Honor. The plot of a Japanese cabal being hostile to America is pretty out there, but the idea of using planes to deliberately ram into important buildings was first depicted there.

      I really think the memes saying dems are hypocritical for supporting the armament of Ukrainains but not Americans have a piss poor point. Not that there aren't valid reasons for owning assault rifles, but it's a complete apples and oranges situation. One country is actively being invaded by a foreign enemy and has a desperate and pressing need for every willing civilian to be armed. They WILL have the enemy at their door within days. On the other hand, we are literally in peace time, and although there is a valid need for civilian armament, none of those reasons are as pressing as an active invasion. The odds of you needing to use a firearm to defend yourself in the states is incredibly slim; the odds of needing to use a firearm to defend yourself and your country in Ukraine are almost guaranteed. Once again, I want to reiterate that there are more than valid reasons to be able to own assault rifles, but it's intellectually dishonest to state that gun control activists are hypocritical for supporting the arming of Ukrainians, but not the arming of Americans. They are not 2 peas in a pod. Please don't use this argument in defense of gun rights, as you will simply make the movement look stupid.

    hi there from Ukraine, just to clear some things out:
    1) guns were given mostly to those who held em before and here we do have obligated serving in regular army for 1 year for all men from 18 to 27 years old (with exception of students, those with health issues etc.), for women it's optional;
    2) lots of schools have course (in high school) with tactical studies like medicine, mild military training just to acquaint one selves with how this military serving for 1 year in army might be or for some to encourage to go to military schools (after regular school) to get military degree or smth; so most boys (girls optional) in school already held AK-47 or AKM and know how to hold it, assemble it, clean it and even operate, aslo had some time at shooting site, and that's only the things related to perrsonal arms;
    3) those 10k of arms were given to civilian Ukrainian citizens (mostly citizens of Kyiv) only with some restrictions and in a controlled way were taken back after Russian retreat from north;
    ... a regular civilian here is more used to popular AK-47 or AKM (i'm a bit rusty on types in general) then a regular American civilian and those actions of protecting the capital were executeв carefully with proper control, so take this to account whenever u hear this click bait phrase of "free weapons to civilians in Ukraine"
