This really shows how crazy modern warfare is. It’s insane that pretty much everyone in the world can see everything that happens live. Also most of us had this war announced by memes
I'm a US Army veteran who served most of a 2 year tour in West Germany as a tank crewman. Russia and Ukraine are not only fighting the war I was trained to fight - they're fighting the war that I was trained to prevent. I can't help but feel like all my hard work and that of many other vets has all gone down the shitter. And as an American who is both part Russian and Ukrainian, this horror makes me want to puke. Brandon, this is most definitely the best of your videos that I've ever seen. Props to you. May we all stay safe and sane. Thank you.
Regardless, thank you for standing in the gap. Fulda or otherwise... You did your job. The Berlin Wall fell while I was in high school. There was such palpable relief that we were not all gonna die into a nuclear holocaust. Those born after will never know what it was like to literally live through a collective worldwide sigh of relief. It was genuine. And it brought with it a tangible hope of a better future. The Cold War was finally over. None of this is hyperbole. It was a real thing. That ever present fear in the back of our minds was silenced, it seemed, for good. (Winds Of Change by Scorpions was on every radio for the longest time... for those that remember.) And born out of that was suddenly a whole host of brand new options and freedoms for many millions of people almost overnight. A chance to begin again... All because some soldier stood his post and did his job, away from home, in the face of danger. Like a real man. Or a real woman. And they did it well enough, for long enough, as a literal physical part of the deterrent force against aggression, to actually win a war without bloodshed. Which is why it's so ironic now, in my forties, to have to consider nuclear war on any level twice in the same lifetime... I've heard this song before, and I definitely didn't like it the first time around. Because, from my understanding, the only purpose for NATO, like its sole overriding objective, function, and mission, was to prevent eastward Soviet/Russian territorial expansion. Member state or otherwise. Knowing full well their numbers deficiency. Hence the reliance on tech. Hence the ammo commonality. Hence the collective united defense against superior forces. All of which had a high likelihood of the possibility of a real shooting war for decades on end. To be here, now, and watching the very forces created to engage in this exact scenario, do nothing... seems like an unfunny joke. Especially given the trillions spent on tech and equipment and weapons and training in the last 75 years or so. Feels kinda like we're not getting our money's worth. Look, I'm not advocating NATO go get revenge on Russia. I am advocating however, that they stand the fcuk up, and stop being a multi-nation, multi-trillion dollar paper tiger without claws or teeth. What was it all for, if when you are needed most, you do nothing that matters? And for those who served their time, and know what it means to hold fast, we thank you. For the peace your efforts brought us all... _______ TL;DR - NATO playing 'Where's Waldo?' in real time. Also - Funny how pro-2A a government can be when their ass is on the line... must be that new Eastern European Reverse Gun Buy Back Initiative.
You do realize the world is bigger than you, you Couldn't have done jack. So stop thinking of trying to be a hero, I'm from Europe, they have been training for the last 30 years for this exact scenario, we don't need you
I live in Poland, but my family is living almost at the Ukrainian border literally 60km from Lwów - one of the city that was attacked. The situation is sour and bitter here at border. No gasoline, trains are full of people. Schools are ready to be used as a shelters. Be strong people!
This is a difficult question to say who is right and who is to blame. Everyone is to blame. Это сложный вопрос, что бы сказать кто прав а кто виноват. Виноваты все.

Hundreds of thousands of dead later for like a total of a 100 miles gained Between both sides. It's literally World War 1 all over again just with modern weapons.
It’s not guaranteed, but it very possible, at the end of the day, if this continues, everyone dies. Hopefully it doesn’t lead to nuclear warfare. This whole event just shows how we are all in this together, almost all of us see and can agree that what is going on is extremely dangerous, scary even for some; Regardless of the side we are placed upon, the majority of people do not want this conflict whatsoever.

I seriously wonder how you Ukrainians in Kiev can walk at all what with that massive set of balls you all seem to have! I saw the video of your President, several of the senior staff, saying they're not leaving & will fight there in Kiev. It gave me goosebumps! We haven't had a President like that in hundreds of years in the US. Your youngest member of parliament strolling down the streets of Kiev with an AK of some type, trying to get home before curfew & planning to fight in the North today ... it's just amazing.

You know shit's real when even Brandon takes a step back and is genuinely serious and concerned throughout the video. Something that doesnt need to be happening is happening and it doesnt seem like it's going to stop so easily. I sincerely hope this situation ends as quickly as it started, with minimal casualties.

@FoxX Putin wants Ukraine out of NATO and out of Russia's face with "imma build a dirty bomb" shit. US wants the opposite. It's not as simple as "caricature comic villain doing evil".
Its the little things, for example Brandon not using the typical ending song. I know we're all a buncha shitposters and memers here to laugh, but the awareness at the end of the day is why we all keep coming back here. Keep up the awesome content Brandon. I don't know if it's a quote from someone/somewhere or if I just thought of it myself, but: It should be law that the people declaring war should have to be in the first rows of the attack - I bet then we wouldn't have as much wars as we do now.
@@TheMonkey747 In the middle ages that actually had a big impact on winning or losing. If you were perceived as a cowardly leader by your troops, morale was lower and you had a higher chance of losing the battle. On the other hand, if you lead from the front and were killed, that could potentially lead to the other side taking over your kingdom. I genuinely don't know what is worse. But the point I actually wanted to make was: These days, leaders would think more than twice about starting a war, if that meant they would probably be killed on day one.

Technology wasn't the same when war hit the Middle East either. I wasn't old enough to pay a lot of attention, I was only in my teens, but everyone and their dog didn't have an internet connected smartphone. The only footage you saw was from some soldier's Nokia months after the fact or from news outlets. Now we see HD video in real time as the literal bombs fall.
It was my junior or senior year of HS (forget when the invasion started, graduated June 04) so I really should have been glued to the TV watching us pancake Iraq for the second time. Yes, cold war, Gulf War, OIF. Its a bit jarring to be invading a country in real time... you know, not watching it on TV but seeing it on the ground going in. I didn't go to Afghanistan, but my little brother did. He flew Blackhawks there. Trust me guys, as bad as you think it is... expect it to get worse. It can always get worse. Granted my nation was committed to a long conflict with the middle east and the internet as a media source was beginning to change how we received information when the sparks began. I'd argue that war is inherently political and economical, full of rational decisions and seemingly safe deals which accumulate into conflicting interests. Land, resources, the industry of war itself creating a class of people, and population changes effect a nations fiscal/military policy. It's no surprise how things have turned out, cynical as I may sound, as this always happens when the balance of power shifts. My nation is comming off a failed military campaign, while bleeding socially and economicly. Meanwhile russia faces declining population, territory with insufficient water(Ukraine cutting off access), ocean access points being frozen parts of the year, and a rival alliance is completely surrounding them. The United States did what was best for it at the time by establishing and financing modern Ukraine, while Russia is now doing what's in its best interest by securing territory, attempting to unite those of similar linguistics/cultural background. Ukraine is caught between two mighty forces, in both culture and economics. Sadly, many will die and production will fall years behind, thus decreasing the quality of life for those whom depend on it. The russian people can just hope what they do is right, that it wasn't orchestrated by another, while Ukrainians does the same. Truth is, the United States and Russia have more in common then most, far more then either would admit, but our governmenta always keep playing our political game of risk with others lives. Brandon, i genuinely appreciate this episode. Being an able-bodied young man is kinda stessfull, being able to laugh at it all though this is very needed. thank you #AKGnotificationsquad
It is very stressful. Sorry about this mess. I understand. I am now in my early 40's and significantly less able-bodied, but some folks told me I was going to he drafted after 9/11. It was a scary time for young men for a few months. People wanted blood, and they were eager to spend my life to get it. Nearly all the older men in my life made that explicitly clear to me. I can't help allay any fears with facts or logic, but I can commiserate. They delighted in it, mostly because I had made it clear that I believed invading middle eastern countries would cost billions of dollars, cost thousands of lives, and accomplish nothing in the end. I didn't want to join that fight. I disagreed on principle, so they taunted me with my legal status (draft age) and called me a coward. The draft never happened of course. In fact, I believe recent history has proven me correct on all points, but all the "adults" at the time told me I'd understand when I was older. They were stupid, callous ass hats. Still are. As if a 20 year old can't understand the value of his own life and what causes he is willing to die for. As if it were acceptable for old men who ducked out of one war to ask young men to fight in another for no better reason than to satisfy some blood lust. In the end, none of it accomplised anything lasting. People who avoided the draft in Vietnam told my fiancé she was going to lose me. They insisted that college, marriage, and kids wouldn't matter. They laughed. She cried. Why were they taunting her? Because she didn't want me to go, and they did. Oddly, the Veterans I knew left us alone. Wonder why? (
@@Great_Wall_of_Text thank you for that, I genuinely appreciate it. Kindness and understanding isn't something you usually find in a comments section. You are a good person, we need more of you. And I'll give Stardew valley a shot.

It's human nature, and it isn't going anywhere. Ever. The best thing you can do is pay attention, learn, and teach sane, compasionate younger people how to deal with this crap once you're gone.
(Winds Of Change by Scorpions was on every radio for the longest time... for those that remember.)
And born out of that was suddenly a whole host of brand new options and freedoms for many millions of people almost overnight.

Technology wasn't the same when war hit the Middle East either. I wasn't old enough to pay a lot of attention, I was only in my teens, but everyone and their dog didn't have an internet connected smartphone. The only footage you saw was from some soldier's Nokia months after the fact or from news outlets. Now we see HD video in real time as the literal bombs fall.
It was my junior or senior year of HS (forget when the invasion started, graduated June 04) so I really should have been glued to the TV watching us pancake Iraq for the second time. My dad has told me before that watching the 1991 invasion live on TV was the most unreal thing he'd ever experienced.
It's genuinely scary. My entire teenage years, and young adult hood the Iraq/Afghanistan War was raging. But this one, this one feels different. I can only hope, that this horrible situation ends before too many lives are lost. On both sides.

For example, looking at your news channels, one gets the impression that the war started only now, when the Russians suddenly invaded Ukraine for no reason. But... It began in 2014 in Kiev, and it spread throughout the country in a wave of violence, when people were burned alive and beaten with sticks because they had a different civic position (there are a lot of videos about these terrible tragedies, such as "Одесса: снос лагеря сепаратистов на Куликовм поле и пожар в Доме профсоюзов" If you have weak nerves, I advise you not to watch) And yes, I am Russian. I do not wish to see men die, but being this far form conflict makes that easy for me to say, with my nation so secured by geography and little to no active competitors to challenge that safety.

A draft is very unlikely
Wonder why? (

It really sucks and I feel sick cuz this whole case is just wrong. Russian and Ukrainian people are truly brothers, and I hope it ends up as soon as possible with minimal casualties
FSB is on their way to place you in the gulag.
#saynotowar
Russia and Ukraine are like those brothers that are at odds most of their lives but make up in the end. I sincerely hope this all blows over with minimal casualties and destruction. This doesnt need to be happening, so i hope it ends as quickly as it started.
never be brothers again. Might start working on that acceptance phase my man

Brandon I hope you stay safe too. This war sitch has me really freaking out. Your video helped me feel a little comfort and community during a bad time. Thank you
As an Ukrainian i can definitely say that this emergency gun meme review helped me to cope with stress.#stopwar
Good luck, stay safe my friend
Чувак, если ты годен к призыву, пожалуйста, не иди в войска
Желаю тебе и твоим близким всего хорошего
Hope you guys return to peace as soon as possible. Stay safe man
I wish you the best
Stay safe, my friend.. 🍻🍻
Wish I could personally shake your hand for your only possible wise position. I thought you're just a brilliant memer, but now I see the living embodiment of the concept of a mature man. Best wishes from Kyiv, Ukraine.
As a Russian, I can say that no one here wants this war, only our stupid politicians, who are probably stuck in 19th century . Ukrainians are like brothers for many of us, many Russians have relatives from Ukraine, so let's hope this will be the only episode of Gun meme review about this war.
its realy only politicians that want the soviet union back and some oligarchs.
Stay safe, and be careful. Soon we may be on opposite sides of a war no one wanted.
Same. I'm just glad that our soldiers don't touch civilians
I hope none of your cousins die in a pointless war Rip Ivans
А вообще 8 лет этого ужаса на Донбассе в итоге все равно бы таким закончились. Жаль. Если бы все сразу начали соблюдать Минские соглашения и не обстреливали бы город, то может, сейчас все было бы мирно.
