Yep. Boise State might be an historic football program but you see what these conferences want. Maryland and Rutgers only got in the B1G because of how Maryland was the Washington, D.C. market and Rutgers is in the NYC Market. All Conferences Want is TV Media Sets and Money

I was at that VTech game front row behind the Boise State bench. Greatest game I ever seen in person with my oldest son it was our second in person Boise State. The first game was the Fiesta Bowl against TCU. After they beat OU I told my son when they make it back we were going and we did. The second greatest game I attended was also with my Oldest son at that time he was my only son and had just turned 4 Sept 91. It was the Lions vs the Cowboys playoff win in the Silver dome to think we had to wait another 32 years before we would see the Lions win another home playoff game. my number three game is probably not one you watched and while I have state I will never return to Fort Collins Colorado .. the whole trip up to the last minutes of game play was the worst trip of my life... but to witness that come back when all seemed lost to watch the drunk on victory CSU fands empty out that stadium up by 3 TD's with less then 4 minutes to go on the cold late Colorado night was one the greatest from all time lows with misery pain and suffer to one of the biggest highs one could experience. After the Team came by as they always do slapping all of us there hands , as they too were on a tremendous high. I streamed the out live on face book from my endzone view which happened to be the one where all the action was, coach Harsin came up in to the stands and talked to each and everyone one of us that were there and shock all of our hands. I'm so looking forward to what this 2024 Boise State team is going to do. every game has been a travel game for me even well maybe not Toledo (which is by far the worst fan base on the planet) or MSU in Lansing as they are both within 70 miles of my home. All other games I have flown to but one My oldest and I drove to the Oky state game and I have to say Stillwater is a great place to go see game. The Stadium is awesome as is their hospitality, them and the Vtech are great people before and after the game. I love my Tigers and I love my Lions but one thing I have never done is travel to see them play so I guess Boise State to me good or bad is must see for me.
Lots of irony to how I became a Boise state fan. I am Yooper by birth but lived most of my youth in Mid Michigan, went to Idaho for my second half my junior year & senior year. Play high school for this young looking guy in fact when I first saw him I had no idea he was the coach though he might be like a student aid of some kind. football. I played for Highland High school in Pocatello Id. We wom the state championship and I moved on with my life I did however go to Idaho State and I discovered their that years before when I came out there to visit my dad for the summer and he bought me this T-shirt at Fred Myer it was Black with a blue out line of the state of Idaho and it had a horse read up on it and written on the shirt it said Boggy to you puck at BSU. I wore the shirt to a 8th grade school dance and when my friends asked me what BSU meant I said Bullshit University I had no idea I had never herd of Boise state . The fact is as a student I discovered ISU folks hated Boise State the time Boise was in the Big Sky like ISU was .. So did the natural thing to do was hate them..
Many years past and I had moved my family to the city I was born in Menominee Michigan right on the boarder of Wisconsin. It's the first week of college football 1997 and I was a huge Michigan fan all my youth. I turn on the TV as the Michigan was going to be later and watched the station out of Green bay which was 50 miles away to watch the game Badgers vs Boise State first year in div 1. Wisconsin had Ron Dane Rose bowl bound team the year before beat UCLA play guess who.. Boise State! I'm think well these guys are going to get waxed and I'm suppose to hate them so they beat us in everything when I was in college especial in Football. But shit they they were beating them yeah the first qt they got knocked around a little but as the game went late in the fourth they had taken the lead with just a few minutes to go, they were up by 4. Wisconsin get first and goal at the 7 there is like 1:20 left they had their time out they stuff Dane on 4th and goal from the 3 at the one. I was losing my mind they won the team was doing the same.. Awe but you see Wisconsin gets right back to the like and the clock is still running.. Understand this is a local not a national broadcast the guys call the game from the Booth were locals .. and they like I am go what going on the Big 10 refs gave Wisconsin a 5th down the Boise State Players rush to get into passion and barely got down at the snap and still almost stopped Ron for a second time! Even as time expired the booths guys never stopped talking about the 5th down. 97 year was a losing season for Boise State that being said my boys from Michigan well you know what they did so I had completely forgot about Boise State. Huston leaves and the next time I hear anything about Boise State is Dirk Koetter is the new head football coach at Boise State my senior year head coach in high school. The rest is history. The bond came in the Fresno State Game in 2002 after Dirk pissed me off leaving for AZ. People forget Fresno State beat Wisconsin in Maddison that year and was rank 6th in the nation. To watch those young men fight and scratch and then take the game in the 4th qt created a bond. Yet Boise State was my second favorite team I was after all Michigan man. However I started paying attention and watching more BSU games. To be able to watch some of the Boise games on cable I would have to buy the sports plan to get the out area games so I was watching more and more Boise state game. then came the 2006 season the loss to Appy State, my sons first year in college. Making the trip the Ann Arbor area to watch Michigan games with him. The total destruction of Norte Dame following the loss to appy state was heart warming. Then to watch the local media just pound on Lloyd Carr week after week. His retirement was a result of media and the elites in Ann Arbor it was a disgrace. Then the Snub and belittle Jimmy the press was relentless. He doesn't have coaching experience. You have to understand Bo would take us to the Rose Bowl then lose it until Harbaugh. I was so pissed when there was all the hype talk about Less Miles .. you have to understand the history here Less Miles is a piece of shit he was the reason Gary Moellar got fired. Miles got Mo's wife all lacquered up at a public event then on the dance floor started grouping and kissing on his wife. and Gray fucked him up right there on the dance floor for all to see. Beat his arse. Less was leaving LSU to come to Michigan until West Virginia lost to Pitt moving LSU into the National championship game. I was like ok so now we get Jimmy ... Nope the media double down. Reports that he didn't get along with the Alumni with spread and he lacks the experience to Coach at Michigan lol and all this Michigan man speak, they were doing prior when it was going to be Miles. and they do what" Rich Rod the guy who lost to Pitt ?? to keep his team out of a title game? This is your Michigan man?? LOL
If you recall New years morning Michigan played the Gators, Carr's last game heavy underdogs to a Florida team who won the National Championship the year before with the T-Bone at QB that was the last game for many year I had rooted to Michigan. And that night the greatest Bowl game ever played Boise State vs Oklahoma. Stick a fork in me I was done. 2 years later I had to get permission from Boise State to use the domain I had purchased tehblueturf.com. Started posting a blog and and youtubes on my Dartprophet youtube channel. in 2010 a blogging group call blogin had earn some cred getting some of their bloggers post out on sports sites like SBN came to me said they could earn me some cash and give me support. The hitch was I had to give them my domain. Things were going smoothly until 2011. They got bought by Bar stool and that seemed to be a good thing until 2012 Barstool sold the Blugin group to a Chinese company who instantly cut us all out of our accounts. They never did a damn thing with them other then leave our post up for a few years. I got no compensation and to this day they maintain ownership of the domain they don't have Boise States permission to use the domain using any content about Boise State so this is what it looks like today theblueturf.com/ the wont sell it for any number I've tried.
But they will never be able to use it for it's intended purposes.
Thats how I became a die hard to the grave come hell or high water Boise state fan I still have a fan page on face book but life gets in the way when you are a business man surviving covid and all it's repercussions. That being said I will be putting out a Jeanty Video on my youtube theblueturf channel which I am posting from now. so subscribe to my channel as well I won't give a penny to facebook aka FBi they sell your information and they will sell you to to big brother thats why I don't post of FBi anymore. but hey I have a ton of great content there if you are looking for pre 2020 Boise Vidoe and yeah I have bought all in on all of Boise State teams not just the football team I support them all and in a couple more years my home base is going to be Boise Idaho. Everytime I go there it gets harder and harder to get on a plane back to Detroit.
Nice little video keep swing .

I think what gets overlooked is how the Boise program has always been dominant no matter what level they have played at. Their success is not just something that happened around the 2000s. They were the most dominant program in lower level JC football. It’s not like they struck lightning in the 2000s. They are just a smaller school who has excelled at every level of football that they have played As an FBS program they are 272-84. As a football program all-time Since they started playing football in the 1930’s their all-time winning record is 491-168. It’s easy to knock them because they play lesser opponents, but no matter what level they play, they have always dominated the competition. Among all football programs, even the elite top-tier programs, their winning percentage is in the top-10. They deserved to be able to play in the upper tiers of college football more than any other lower-tier program, and even above many of the existing P5/P4 schools that are still in the major conferences. They deserve that respect. They have earned it.

You’re correct… Boise got screwed and should be in the modern BIG 12.
However… I will say… in the 2000’s they never never played the best BYU or Utah teams.
Utah had undefeated BCS bowl winning teams in both 2004 and 2008. They beat Utah soundly during rebuilding years in 2006 and 2010.
Meanwhile BYU’s program had some really up and down years in the 2000’s. However… they were a legit Top 15 team in 2001, 2006, and 2009… but by luck (or fate) Boise wasn’t on the schedule.
There would’ve (could’ve) been some epic matchups… the winner would have come out of those games with a stronger national reputation. Just bad luck.
During the realignment chatter in summer 2010… Boise was set to go to the Mountain West…. the conference at the time had Utah, TCU, BYU, with Boise coming on board… that’s an excellent top tier.
At the time Larry Scott wanted to add Texas and Oklahoma to the PAC 10… it almost happened… but ended up falling through and the PAC 12 picked up Utah and Colorado… leaving the door open for TCU to join the BIG 12.
Weird to think of how the college football landscape would be different today if that would’ve happened.

You notice some schools missing because they didn’t qualify or were good enough from the list? Because they were not good enough; and therefore, not qualified to be added to the A4 but the other G5 adds were.
BYU is not in the Big12 the same way as SMU is in the ACC, but it is not vastly dissimilar as one would think. Any idiot who says Houston doesn’t belong apparently don’t know their big bowl games’ history and don’t know how successful they have been and will be.
Can BYU be a winning team in the Big12? Yes. But to say that Boise State should be chosen over Houston, BYU, Cincinnati, UCF, and other schools shows just how little you know and how little respect and knowledge of the game you have and the history.
SMU had decent football success and history before being shut down for multiple violations and the return took up until the past 12 years or so for them to take football seriously again sort of.
The reason why I pointed out all the schools who made a BCS/NY6/CFP bowl was to point out that several schools that are kind of on the chopping block to be excluded from different types of conferences have made more strides and successes in football than schools currently being considered or have been added to said conferences over the years and years to come.

Malachi Nelson may not start since Koetter seems to really like Mad Dog and we did win a 3rd Fiesta Bowl after coach Pete left, and there were a few years since then that we narrowly missed out on a bid to AAC teams so we never fell off completely. @Lord_Crofts Boise State has a good program but they have only finished in the top #25 twice in the last ten years. Meanwhile, the Power 4 Teams consistently dominate the Top 25 and the CFP. They have talented teams. They would not be able to win so much without talented players. Viewership leads to more money, which allows for the acquisition of more talent, which in turn leads to more success on the field. This is even more true now in the age of NIL money and the transfer portal. Boise State and any other G5 school's best hope to stay at the highest level of college football is to join a P4 conference.

@@SaturdayShenanigansYTokay you need to know your stuff a bit better. Houston Nutt led them to the transition from FCS to FBS and had success and got the Arkansas job because of it. The Big West was a FBS conference at that time and had not dropped down yet as was the case for the Big Sky. But before turn of the century was announced with their HC who was Nutt’s successor and good one, pronounced (Cutter), would be joining the WAC. But once again, would be changing course and coaching with the arrival of Dan Hawkins, and you should know the rest although you are too young and too loose with information to rely upon anything.
Anyhow Boise State accepts athletes that barely qualify for JUCO let alone D3-D1 or NAIA universities. Like BYU, their academics and academic backgrounds and credentials come under scrutiny and questions as well as their ethics on said academics. T2, C2, R2 are what both universities are and Boise just got to the 2nd level. Now you can be R2 but level 1 in the other areas in academics. Many schools are.
But it is how they conduct their business. Had Boise been added over BYU, even though BYU is as big if not bigger draw, they would be left out in the wilderness instead of Boise State. To say Boise State deserves to be in an Autonomous Conference over the four added to the Big12 is ludicrous at best and disingenuous and disinformation. ACC has high standards in academics and schools like BYU and Boise State would never qualify.
Houston is very much like their inner city rival in the AAU private school of Rice in academics but Houston has way better athletics. Now could BYU be borderline approved by ACC if they wanted them based on their academics? Yes but barely. Their overall athletics success would be the benefit and oomph to push them through just like in the Big12. Now SMU is R2 but are level 1 at the other academic credentials and standards. Now will SMU get R1? Probably not but don’t say never. But BYU will not and Boise will take about another 30 years or so.
Now do I believe they should be in a Power Conference and Big12 in particular? Yes I do but not at the expense of the four G5 schools already added. I would also say Memphis deserves to be elevated as well as all three service academies and probably App State or CCU.

I hate CFB now, and hate the big conferences even more for leaving out one of the best programs in the league. Now we're stuck, relegated playing a crap schedule and losing recruits to programs that pay top dollar. F*** college football.

Insane that the Pac-12 would've rather go under than give Boise State an invitation lol. An important u forgot to mention was that Boise State was almost a member of the Big East before that blew up. While the Big East wasn't a Pac-12 or Big 12 it still had an automatic bid at that point but with the implosion of that conference as well as TCU going Big 12 & San Diego State getting cold feet Boise State missed out on that as well.

    • @SaturdayShenanigansYT
      @SaturdayShenanigansYT  2 месяца назад

Boise State in the Big East would've been huge for them. I could've seen them staying there for a bit if it lived, and leveraged that to get a bid from the Big 12 or Pac 12 later on.

      @PCSPounder 2 месяца назад

@@randomnerd2332 As long as you understand that Boise State is a $5 million school ($5M in TV revenue per year) playing in a conference with $3.5 million schools… hence why the Pac-2 doesn’t want to merge with the whole conference. The value the MWC adds is limited… and the Big East just netted double that while not having football.
Better off killing the conferences and trying a merit based system. But I’m not holding my breath for that, because you won’t boycott the current system, and at least as important, you won’t convince fans of bigger schools to do the same.

Here's the thing. We got to rank 7th in 2011 with one loss. Never has been done before in group of 5. Here is the thing though. Boise State was supposed to go to the sugar bowl but got slapped in the face by the BCS by putting Virginia tech and Michigan jn the sugar bowl and nobody was happy. Back in the bcs if you were a group of 5 team and you had one loss. If you win out your conference and get to rank 15 pr higher you got a new years 6 bowl game. Not the case for boise state because the tv viewing and money. Espn trued tixing that by giving boise state a home game contract stating every home game gets to be on espn which is good but the trade off is that every game will start at 8pm or later.

Boise State just got complacent. Lived in Boise the last 20 years and it seemed that throughout those successful years they had this belief that they could do the same thing they’ve been doing as a program and the results will always come. They were late to expand their stadium which was a huge factor also they really were ok with being a big fish in a small pond rather than take the risk of some losing seasons in a P5. It’s as simple as that. They thought they deserved to be a P5 and didn’t move fast enough on anything to prove it to the conferences. They only have themselves to blame for not being invited sooner. PAC 12 merger could be a blessing in disguise however

Boise has always been handed unfair L's. Big schools like Ohio State refusing to play us, calling Boise and back then TCU, the "little sisters of division 1 football". Teams like Florida, who has not played a non conference game outside of the state of Florida for what feels like 30 years, telling Boise they can come to Gainesville, but we have to pay the Gators something like $2M and Boise gets none of the gate revenue. Props to Oregon for actually playing us home and away, though Boise State is 3-0 vs the Ducks... Maybe why all the coward big schools refuse to play us. Not enough to gain, too much to lose.
And I was screaming at Boise State to go Pac12 when they expanded from the Pac10, and then screaming again when the Big 12 was shuffling. If Boise comes in and runs the table in 2024, makes a strong push in the playoffs, the powers that be will just change up the model yet again so there's another decade or two where a good small school is left out in the cold.

BYU doesn’t belong in the Big12 but Houston does. Let me name the schools that made either a BCS or NY6 or CFP bowl game who were technically not Autonomous Colleges.
    1. UCF
    2. Cincinnati
    3. Pitt before going to ACC
    4. Louisville before going to ACC
    5. Memphis
    6. Houston
    7. Tulane
    8. TCU before Big12
    9. Utah before PAC12
    10. NIU
    11. WMU
    12. Boise State
    13. Hawaii
    14. UCONN
    15. WVU before going Big12
    16. Syracuse before ACC
    17. Va Tech before going to ACC
    18. Miami before going to ACC
    19. BC before going to ACC
    20. Rutgers before BiG10 BigEast/AAC days
    21. USF when AAC was Big East
    22. Liberty
You notice some schools missing because they didn’t qualify or were good enough from the list? Because they were not good enough and therefore not qualified to be added to the A4 but the other G5 adds were.
Yes. But to say that Boise State should be chosen over Houston or BYU or UCF or Cincinnati shows just how stupid you are and how little respect and knowledge of the game you have and the history.

@@DocSkirv top tier programs too afraid to schedule proper non-conference opponents. Especially during the peak of Boise in the BCS computer era where you needed to smash to increase your rankings. That said, Boise has zero chance of joining a power 5 conference because of NIL deals and other reasons like geography and school size

Boise State will never join an autonomy conference. Their TV market and academics would make of no value. Also they are no flagship school which means they probably have low alumni bases especially being in a state like Idaho.

you know its cope when you gotta bring up games from 15-20 years ago, thats what some BSU fans do when bringing up ' wins ' they had and trying to make a case that this is why big schools today wont schedule them, no folks, that isn't it..try again UCF came into town and beat you, BYU beats you, and the Huskies shat on you badly the last time
