Once you've rewired your dopaminergic reward system to become dependent on something like a substance or activity, it literally reorders your brain's hierarchy of needs to put that thing on the same "ABSOLUTE NECESSITY TO SURVIVE" level as food, water, and reproduction. This is EXACTLY why addiction is a neurological disease clearly visible on an MRI and not a psychological failing. Telling an addict they just need to get some self-control is like telling someone to stop drinking water because "hydration is a myth"... 🤦😑
I don't think potentially addictive stuff like gambling or soft drugs (weed, psychedelics, MDMA etc...) should be illegal, people should be free to make their own decisions even if they are bad ones. But I DO think openly advertising such industries that ruin and end millions of lives every year just to make a buck is absolutely morally reprehensible. 🤷
Having watched this, I feel sorry for their kicker. He's going out there every game and doing everything he can to win, kicking long field goals and everything, but he just doesn't have enough of a team around him.

i have never seen sports fans turn on a team so quickly. everyone was sympathetic towards them when they were left out of the playoff, but after being sore losers at the orange bowl, suing their conference for "holding them back", spending the entire offseason talking shit, and then laying an egg in every game so far this year, every ounce of sympathy they once had is gone

I lost all sympathy the moment they gave up because they didn't make the playoffs. They refused to acknowledge they didn't belong there even though they were undefeated and they knew Georgia was going to stomp a mud hole in them even on their best day. They had every right to be upset, but omfg their response was like that kid freaking out in Walmart because he's been told no for the first time in his life. Couldn't have happened to a better team.

GT is mid. They got way more credit than they deserved when they were ranked. Not really any excuse for losing to Syracuse.
I think Tech has a chance to beat Georgia this year assuming Georgia goes undefeated in conference play.
I think you said it best yourself, you guys consistently upset teams, as in punch above your weight class. But also lose to embarrassing teams. I love that you guys do it, but it doesn't make an upset any less of an upset. (Same goes for NIU)
I kind of feel like the year that Michigan lost to App State was worse.
Back to back losses to App and Oregon was pretty bad and App is probably a worse loss but they did get it together vs an admittedly terrible Notre Dame and a then-ranked 10 (and ultimately ranked 25) Penn State team. Closed out the year with a pretty big upset of their own over Florida too.
FSU still hasn’t turned it around at all. Rest of the season will tell though.
As an FSU student, I can tell you, many of us NEVER wanted DJ. As for the conference thing, it was never about being "better" than the acc. It was and is about an untenable revenue model, which why us and clemson wanted to be in the SEC/B1G. Finally, no undefeated SEC/B1G champion would have ever been left out. Regardless of circumstances. SO yeah in the long run I want us to still leave.

As a canes fan I’m happy, but as someone who deeply understands how this feels, I feel bad for the fans… probably doesn’t relate but the Florida panthers have been the laughing stock of the NHL ever since last year and I was sad of course but I never lost hope and now they have won the cup… the same can be said for FSU they will win a natty soon enough just never lose hope!

And the Memphis game was viewed as a bit more than just a buy game even before the season, Memphis has been one of the most consistently solid programs over the past 5 years and was expected by many to be the g5 playoff frontrunner. I myself predicted FSU to lose both to both GT and Memphis, this start was honestly far from surprising for many avid cfb fans

Let’s face it at this point you all may be wishing for the god awful Willie Taggert days if things go the way they’re looking! I have nothing but respect for FSU from the days of Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher, but let’s be real you all have been sliding down in quality as a team in its entirety (a clear case that it’s not always the case that a team equals what the sum of all its players is.) While yes you’ve had a few good seasons since Jameis’s last year and the year after, nothing has come close to those days. If this team lost to any one of Georgia Tech, Boston College or Memphis under Bowden it’s players would be fatigued as hell from running so much LET ALONE ALL THREE BACK TO BACK TO BACK!

The wild thing is that the only collapse that is maybe bigger also happened in the state of Florida.
It's the biggest one that I can remember, and it has only been made worse by the university's antics regarding the playoff and ACC.
The sad part is if Jordan Travis's leg didn't break in two, FSU would have been playing for a title. What a shame.

It didnt start with the jordan travis injury. After the jordan travis injury fsu still played with a winning spirit. What truly crushed their winning spirit and was the main reason for their collapse was the committee decision. I refuse to believe the Jordan Travis injury was the reason they were left out, I think it was a scapegoat to let an SEC team in. Even if he was healthy the same thing would have happened.
I think we need to remember that these players are not only college kids instead of professional athletes, but human as well. We can't fathom the idea of dedicating years of hard work in a rigorous college football program only to be snubbed in a way that's out of your control, being told that you being literally PERFECT still isn't good enough. It likely cant help but affect the way you play. After all, you were just told the results of the games dont matter, and it's the eye test that counts, so why care about winning? You can say it's an attitude problem but it's a justified attitude problem.
That’s the kind of attitude that’s making your team suck right now. And with the way they played against Georgia and how they are currently playing know, proved the committee right. But keep making excuses for this pathetic team.

We all know that from the opt outs, the players that declared for the NFL draft, the absolute heartbreak that crushed their team spirit.
