@@jackmanfredo1215 Yep, the most winningest class in all of college football. I was at two of those losses. Reno in 10’ was bad, but TCU 11’ at home was tragic.
I was at the TCU game here in Boise in 2012, Doug Martin didn't play because of injury. We had our chances, the missed FG at the end was a killer. The short FG missed in Reno in 2011 knocked us out of the Rose Bowl, that is the all time "what if" game for the Broncos (Colin Kapernick's Senior year).
And a good university organization can't be left out. You need an internal structure that can both consistently hire good coaches, actually select good coaches, and have the support system for them to succeed. Boise St understands itself, understands what it's good at, what it wants within it's culture, and that's also huge in their success. It's impressive what they've done from the top down because history has shown hiring coaches is really a crapshoot yet they keep winning.
@Tom Pyle your only notable win was against an uninterested Oklahoma team. That was the biggest game in Boise St history and the 300th biggest in Oklahomas history.
My dad and I had season tickets to Boise State for 15 years before his devastating passing from Parkinson's in 2017. Boise is an amazing community that loves our Broncos mostly because of the positive attitude of the program which reflects our city. Tailgating begins in the morning and people mingle and share food next to the stadium that sits on the banks of the Boise River. One point of pride we have as Broncos fans is the treatment of opposing fans. They are invited into tailgates and often become friends amazed at how nice people are and what a great atmosphere game day is. There is one other school I've experienced such treatment, a few years ago my brother and a couple friends decided to rent a car and on a whim drove better part of two days to Stillwater Oklahoma. The game was great, unfortunately a close loss for the Broncos, but I can't compliment enough how we were treated there making me a fan of Oklahoma State for the simple fact that their fans are some of the nicest and welcoming people I''ve met. I love college football because done right it brings people, family and friends together for a great event. Win or lose college football is an amazing tradition. Go Broncos.
I went to that ok state game. Didn't have to spend a dime for food or drink. I highly recommend going to Stillwater for a game wearing opposing team gear. You will thank me later.
@@pretendhuman All starts here by recognizing that we're not really all that special. Any town could do it if they'd just quit being so confrontational about every stupid thing. We try to minimize corruption and think it's important to have some perspective for the most part on any particular topic. SF and Portland were always weird but it was in a kind of a cute "oh look at the liberals and their marching around protesting like anyone outside of their little group cares at all." Liberals like to yell, make hyperbole about everything and most of all feel sorry for a guy with a less than ideal childhood walking around shooting people. Lesson for future, mental note, getting teased in high school doesn't warrant a shooting spree. If someone murders anyone, it is 100% the murderers fault. Not really much rehabilitation possible for violent criminals and it's certainly not "white privilege" that makes anyone murder people. I've been white my whole life and the privilege I had was to be oeverworked, underpaid and way way overtaxed.
There are two things that factor into why Boise state won’t be in a big 5 conference (which is BS) the 2 being money and academics. Even though when we were on top racking in millions of dollars every year and building a pretty big tech industry here something just doesn’t add up. We definitely deserve a big 5 chance compared to a lot of other teams that don’t deserve to be there
Yessss love to see someone talking about Boise State as an Idaho native who grew up 20 minutes from the stadium it made growing up so exciting. I remember watching the Nevada game in the lobby of a hotel with 20 other people. The Boise State kicker ended up receiving death threats because of the game. But if I remember correct, he missed 3 key field goals.
@@scottyclayton2501 Yep, he held the NCAA record for points-scored in a career. I was at the game in Reno, he didn't miss anything until the FG at the end of regulation. Then he missed the FG in OT that allowed Nevada to kick a walk-off. Two mistakes in a matter of minutes, one of the more mind-blowing experiences to watch in real-time. I thought we were going to the Rose Bowl...
If being 3 points away from a second undefeated season in a row isn’t enough proof for people that college football needed a playoff system, then I don’t know what is.
@@muddywaters92 Except that their bowl game is literally post season. If you want to include the bowl games, fine whatever, although I’d also argue that neither team should have been in that bowl game. I mean seriously, name the last time two Top 10 teams in the country played in a bowl game that wasn’t nationally televised nor a major bowl? Especially when you have two teams not even in the Top 15 make a major bowl over both of these teams….. yeah that looks sketch af….. The Poinsetta Bowl had significantly higher ranked teams than the Orange Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Chick-Fila Bowl, Capital One Bowl and Fiesta Bowl (you realize the payout differences between those bowls is $200K vs $20 million) …. I mean wtf…. You have an undefeated team and a team that lost to the #2 and #3 teams in the country and that’s somehow not even good enough for either team to make a Top 20 bowl game? This sport is so corrupt
@@muddywaters92 TCU played 4 Top 25 teams in 2008. I’d like to know what competition you think the following teams played that were so much tougher than who TCU faced or #10 Oregon: - Cincinnati (played #3 Oklahoma, #19 VT, #23 WVU) - Virginia Tech (played #17 Cincinnati, #21 FSU, #22GT) - Georgia Tech (played #19 VT, #21 FSU) -Georgia (#1 Florida, #6 Alabama, #22 GT, #23 Michigan State) - Michigan State (#8 Penn State, #12 Ohio State, #13 Georgia) - Ohio State (#5 USC, #8 Penn State, #13 Georgia, #23 Michigan State) Vs TCU played: (#2 Utah, #3 Oklahoma, #7 Boise State, #11 BYU) You really think Georgia is going undefeated with TCUs schedule? you think Ohio State is? How do you think Cincinnati, Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech fares in Eugene against #10 Oregon? 08 Cincinnati beat Hawaii by 5, the same team Boise State beat by 27. Virginia Tech literally lost to a 9-5 G5 team. Georgia Tech beat a Division II team (not FCs, Division II team) by 3 points…. What they’re going beat #3 Oklahoma in Norman or #10 Oregon in Eugene?
I was a kid in the 90s and started to watch them as my hometown football team. The story really begins in the late 90s with guys like Bart Hendricks and Brock Forsey who really first established Boise State as an inventive, imaginative and aggressive offensive powerhouse. Dan Hawkins took over and brought with him Chris Petersen as OC, and they had an amazing run in the early 2000s with Ryan Dinwiddie at QB setting records, followed by Jared Zabranksy and the mid-2000s teams that were starting to develop NFL talent at all positions. There was one-year lull after Zabransky left and the post-OU Fiesta Bowl, but even then, with Petersen now the HC, you could see the offense's potential. Kellen Moore arrived at the apex of Petersen's genius and he really found the perfect QB to hit the timing and rhythm of his motions and deceptive pass patterns. And thanks to the consistent winning and success of the previous eras, Petersen was able to recruit better talent than Boise State fans could ever have believed would play for their team. It's an amazing story of building a winning program, and doing it under different leadership-I stopped following the Broncos after the Harsin years became a bit stale, but I hope one day they can find a gem like Petersen again who can be ahead of the curve and make Boise State the unpredictable menace no one wants to face on their schedule.
2010 Boise State is arguably the greatest G5 team to ever play the game. 1. This team didn’t even make a major bowl, yet was ranked #1 in the country by SP+, SRS, and Colley. 2. They averaged a 36.7 margin of victory per game on the season. That’s the highest MVPG by over 6ppg than any other team to not make a national title or playoff champ. 3. They ranked #2 in total offense, scoring 50+ points in 50% of their games, and 40+ points in 85% of their games. They were 170 total yards less than Oregon from the #1 ranking yet played twice as many ranked teams as Oregon that season. 2. They ranked #2 in total defense. They were the first team since 04 USC to be ranked in the Top 5 for total offense and total defense and the first team since 1998 Nebraska to be ranked in the top 2 for total offense and total defense. They allowed 11.4 ppg, shutout 3 teams, and beat 3 teams ranked in the Top 10 for total offense 139-10. Even in their loss to Nevada, they led this game by 24 points and had 3 opportunities to win.
I was born a few blocks away from the stadium at St Luke's in 1988 times sure have changed it was amazing to watch the growth of the school, the city, and the whole area has blown up since I was a kid. My brother wrestled for BSU and they used to give tickets away nothing like now Kool video thanks for making it
I’ve been in Idaho basically my entire life, at the time.. I didn’t realize the legends I was surrounded by. My mom at the time, attended BSU and befriended Peterson. He came over for dinner a few times and I didn’t think too much into it. Ian Johnson used to attended our church too and we used to have regular conversation with the guy. He was an overall really cool guy. As their names got HUGE it was pretty apparent that they were annoyed with constant bombardment of people that recognized them. I haven’t seen any of them in years now.. wish them all the best. But I feel for em too, it was nice when Boise was significantly smaller than it is now. And these guys were local celebrities. I wish I could have appreciated and understood their company when I was younger.
As a Fresno State fan, I’m glad where they’ve been, they went from nothing to a superpower just because they beat 8th ranks Fresno in Fresno, I hope they get a better future
Fresno State is also a team that has had many great teams and many great wins. They are not afraid to play anyone. As a BSU fan, thank you for your kind words. I wish Fresno State the best this year and in the coming years.
As a Bills fan and as a Boise native, I can't wait to see what Shakir can bring to the table now that Beasley is gone. I hope he balls out. He was so damn good in college.
as someone from new jersey who didnt go to college and has no allegiance to any particular school, boise state is a team i root for no matter what. Would love to go out there for a game one year
I feel like the Magic Carpet Ride to the National Championship should have had more than just that very brief mention. Beyond that, a good brief overview of BSU. I moved there as a 12 yo kid when the 2001 team busted out of the gates, and I was wrapped up in Bronco Mania.
How good were they in the Petersen-Moore era? Peterson's 2006 BSU recruiting class put 17 guys into NFL training camps. 2 first round draft picks, Doug Martin and Shea McClellin. Kellen Moore, Doug Martin, Shea McClellin, Austin Pettis, Titus Young, Billy Winn, Chase Baker, Tyrone Crawford, George Iloka, Jeron Johnson, Jamar Taylor, Brandyn Thompson, Winston Venable and Nate Potter all played in the NFL. Pretty much unheard of outside of schools like Alabama, USC or Ohio State. They were that good.
That Fiesta Bowl upset against Oklahoma is one of my fondest childhood memories. I was the biggest BSU fan back then. I nearly tear up watching the highlights of it in this video haha
Excellent summary and Thanks very much. Not an Alum, but very enthusiastic supporter, ever since they beat Oklahoma in 2007, where I first witnessed the “Hook and Ladder” play, and my introduction to “tricks” on the gridiron.
I was at that game front row behind the Boise State bench. Greatest game I ever seen in person with my oldest son it was our second in person Boise State. The first game was the Fiesta Bowl against TCU. After they beat OU I told my son when they make it back we were going and we did. The second greatest game I attended was also with my Oldest son at that time he was my only son and had just turned 4 Sept 91. It was the Lions vs the Cowboys playoff win in the Silver dome to think we had to wait another 32 years before we would see the Lions win another home playoff game. my number three game is probably not one you watched and while I have state I will never return to Fort Collins Colorado .. the whole trip up to the last minutes of game play was the worst trip of my life... but to witness that come back when all seemed lost to watch the drunk on victory CSU fands empty out that stadium up by 3 TD's with less then 4 minutes to go on the cold late Colorado night was one the greatest from all time lows with misery pain and suffer to one of the biggest highs one could experience. After the Team came by as they always do slapping all of us there hands , as they too were on a tremendous high. I streamed the out live on face book from my endzone view which happened to be the one where all the action was, coach Harsin came up in to the stands and talked to each and everyone one of us that were there and shock all of our hands. I'm so looking forward to what this 2024 Boise State team is going to do. every game has been a travel game for me even well maybe not Toledo (which is by far the worst fan base on the planet) or MSU in Lansing as they are both within 70 miles of my home. All other games I have flown to but one My oldest and I drove to the Oky state game and I have to say Stillwater is a great place to go see game. The Stadium is awesome as is their hospitality, them and the Vtech are great people before and after the game. I love my Tigers and I love my Lions but one thing I have never done is travel to see them play so I guess Boise State to me good or bad is must see for me. Lots of irony to how I became a Boise state fan. I am Yooper by birth but lived most of my youth in Mid Michigan, went to Idaho for my second half my junior year & senior year. Play high school for this young looking guy in fact when I first saw him I had no idea he was the coach though he might be like a student aid of some kind. football. I played for Highland High school in Pocatello Id. We wom the state championship and I moved on with my life I did however go to Idaho State and I discovered their that years before when I came out there to visit my dad for the summer and he bought me this T-shirt at Fred Myer it was Black with a blue out line of the state of Idaho and it had a horse read up on it and written on the shirt it said Boggy to you puck at BSU. I wore the shirt to a 8th grade school dance and when my friends asked me what BSU meant I said Bullshit University I had no idea I had never herd of Boise state . The fact is as a student I discovered ISU folks hated Boise State the time Boise was in the Big Sky like ISU was .. So did the natural thing to do was hate them.. Many years past and I had moved my family to the city I was born in Menominee Michigan right on the boarder of Wisconsin. It's the first week of college football 1997 and I was a huge Michigan fan all my youth. I turn on the TV as the Michigan was going to be later and watched the station out of Green bay which was 50 miles away to watch the game Badgers vs Boise State first year in div 1. Wisconsin had Ron Dane Rose bowl bound team the year before beat UCLA play guess who.. Boise State! I'm think well these guys are going to get waxed and I'm suppose to hate them so they beat us in everything when I was in college especial in Football. But shit they they were beating them yeah the first qt they got knocked around a little but as the game went late in the fourth they had taken the lead with just a few minutes to go, they were up by 4. Wisconsin get first and goal at the 7 there is like 1:20 left they had their time out they stuff Dane on 4th and goal from the 3 at the one. I was losing my mind they won the team was doing the same.. Awe but you see Wisconsin gets right back to the like and the clock is still running.. Understand this is a local not a national broadcast the guys call the game from the Booth were locals .. and they like I am go what going on the Big 10 refs gave Wisconsin a 5th down the Boise State Players rush to get into passion and barely got down at the snap and still almost stopped Ron for a second time! Even as time expired the booths guys never stopped talking about the 5th down. 97 year was a losing season for Boise State that being said my boys from Michigan well you know what they did so I had completely forgot about Boise State. Huston leaves and the next time I hear anything about Boise State is Dirk Koetter is the new head football coach at Boise State my senior year head coach in high school. The rest is history. The bond came in the Fresno State Game in 2002 after Dirk pissed me off leaving for AZ. People forget Fresno State beat Wisconsin in Maddison that year and was rank 6th in the nation. To watch those young men fight and scratch and then take the game in the 4th qt created a bond. Yet Boise State was my second favorite team I was after all Michigan man. However I started paying attention and watching more BSU games. To be able to watch some of the Boise games on cable I would have to buy the sports plan to get the out area games so I was watching more and more Boise state game. then came the 2006 season the loss to Appy State, my sons first year in college. Making the trip the Ann Arbor area to watch Michigan games with him. The total destruction of Norte Dame following the loss to appy state was heart warming. Then to watch the local media just pound on Lloyd Carr week after week. His retirement was a result of media and the elites in Ann Arbor it was a disgrace. Then the Snub and belittle Jimmy the press was relentless. He doesn't have coaching experience. You have to understand Bo would take us to the Rose Bowl then lose it until Harbaugh. I was so pissed when there was all the hype talk about Less Miles .. you have to understand the history here Less Miles is a piece of shit he was the reason Gary Moellar got fired. Miles got Mo's wife all lacquered up at a public event then on the dance floor started grouping and kissing on his wife. and Gray fucked him up right there on the dance floor for all to see. Beat his arse. Less was leaving LSU to come to Michigan until West Virginia lost to Pitt moving LSU into the National championship game. I was like ok so now we get Jimmy ... Nope the media double down. Reports that he didn't get along with the Alumni with spread and he lacks the experience to Coach at Michigan lol and all this Michigan man speak, they were doing prior when it was going to be Miles. and they do what" Rich Rod the guy who lost to Pitt ?? to keep his team out of a title game? This is your Michigan man?? LOL If you recall New years morning Michigan played the Gators, Carr's last game heavy underdogs to a Florida team who won the National Championship the year before with the T-Bone at QB that was the last game for many year I had rooted to Michigan. And that night the greatest Bowl game ever played Boise State vs Oklahoma. Stick a fork in me I was done. 2 years later I had to get permission from Boise State to use the domain I had purchased tehblueturf.com. Started posting a blog and and youtubes on my Dartprophet youtube channel. in 2010 a blogging group call blogin had earn some cred getting some of their bloggers post out on sports sites like SBN came to me said they could earn me some cash and give me support. The hitch was I had to give them my domain. Things were going smoothly until 2011. They got bought by Bar stool and that seemed to be a good thing until 2012 Barstool sold the Blugin group to a Chinese company who instantly cut us all out of our accounts. They never did a damn thing with them other then leave our post up for a few years. I got no compensation and to this day they maintain ownership of the domain they don't have Boise States permission to use the domain using any content about Boise State so this is what it looks like today theblueturf.com/ the wont sell it for any number I've tried. But they will never be able to use it for it's intended purposes. Thats how I became a die hard to the grave come hell or high water Boise state fan I still have a fan page on face book but life gets in the way when you are a business man surviving covid and all it's repercussions. That being said I will be putting out a Jeanty Video on my youtube theblueturf channel which I am posting from now. so subscribe to my channel as well I won't give a penny to facebook aka FBi they sell your information and they will sell you to to big brother thats why I don't post of FBi anymore. but hey I have a ton of great content there if you are looking for pre 2020 Boise Vidoe and yeah I have bought all in on all of Boise State teams not just the football team I support them all and in a couple more years my home base is going to be Boise Idaho. Everytime I go there it gets harder and harder to get on a plane back to Detroit. Nice little video keep swing .
Bro!! Love it, love it, loved everything about your video. I attended BSU in 2000-2001 and even didn't follow BSU football until other people around the country started asking me questions about, "You're from Boise? Where did that football team come from?!" Then, in 2003, I started following them. After watching the Fiesta Bowl against OU.....I was hooked. I still get gitty when watching that game again, even today. LOL! Thanks for the love brother!
Maybe I’m biased because I was in the stands for the Broncos nearly beating Wisconsin in Madison in 1997 - Boise led the entire second half until its undersized defense ran out of gas and allowed the winning TD with 42 seconds left. But I think Houston Nutt should get a huge share of credit for instilling a culture of intensive preparation and the belief that they really could compete on the national stage. Even though they only won four games on the field* that season, that game really felt like a huge turning point. * BSU’s official season record is 5-6 because Cal State Northridge, which won the season opener, was forced by the NCAA to forfeit that victory because of rules infractions.
Good video but 1996 was our 1st year as Division 1-A. And Coach Koetter is pronounced KUTTER. Other than that, very entertaining video. Thank you! Go Broncos!
I’ll never get over the fact that BSU should’ve beaten Oklahoma State at home last year. I’ve never in my life blamed a game on the refs but wow… some awful calls in that one. The TV broadcast didn’t do it justice
Finally someone mentioned it NOBODY HAS TALKED ABOUT IT. Oklahoma State was going to make the Playoff if they didn’t lose to Baylor in the B12 championship
The funny thing Kellen Moore era 90 percent games he was so far ahead by third quarter he would be on bench . Think coach Peterson cost him a the hyseman trophy he still leads in most won games 50 and three most those games lost by shank field goal misses . In his losses most were decided by field goal . You can say all the crap you want Kellen Moore winning est QB in all college football and only played too the third quarter .
It’s mostly all due to Kellen Moore. That, and whatever lunatic decided they needed blue turf. It works & is cool, but Sitting around the drawing board coming up with that… they must’ve been rolling on ecstasy, buncha old hillbilly football boosters rubbin each other’s hairy backs, til the one w/ the closed head injury said “hey, I’m gonna crush this up & put it in a snowcone held in a tiger’s gall bladder, w/ powdered rhino horn sprinkles on top and see what kinda ideas I can come up with!”
Well 2022 could be a undefeated season stacked defense hardest games are San Diego state air force and byu, maybe freznope but well see oh and the pre ranks got boise 47 not to far out maybe get a fiesta bowl/ well things change but bsu wins out they play in the LA bowl against a mid pac 12 opponent
Boise State walks into the Power Five Pizza Party. They ask one of the conference tables if they can sit down at their table. They feel confidant because they win games in their group of five conference, they pull off upsets from time to time and they’re the “new” flavor with their blue turf. They feel like they should be promoted like a European Soccer Team. That conference and every other conference asks Boise State, “What are you REALLY bringing to the table? You think we’re going to give YOU a slice of FREE pizza?” Boise State looks down and reflects. Boise State goes back to share part of a sandwich at Subway with some other wishful group of five schools.
"What are you REALLY bringing to the table" Oh nothing just: - 4th best career record in the sport all time - Most winning seasons of any team currently playing in Div 1 all time - Undefeated major bowl record - Most undefeated teams in the last 20 years - All Time Class Record - All Time Class Margin of Loss Record - 2000-2010 2nd best record of any decade for any team in the history of the sport (only behind 1890-1900 Yale) - Best Home Record in Division 1 in the last 25 years - One of only 2 teams to never record a losing season in the last 20 years (only other being Ohio State) - Second most 12-win seasons in Div 1 in the last 20 years (only behind Oklahoma by 3) - Only team in the last decade to beat a ranked team in OCC from every single P5 Conference - Only G5 team with a positive record over the ACC, B12 and PAC12 (arguably the only team in the league thats truly not afraid to play anyone anytime anywhere - theyve played road games from FSU to Oregon to KSU to New York). Arguably the most robbed team in league - 2000-2010 went 115-7, including 5 undefeated regular seasons yet magically only ever made 2 major bowl games. Posted 4 seasons in which 4 or more lower ranked teams made major bowls over them. 08 and 09 BSU had higher ranked wins than teams that made the national championship game. 2008-2011 BSU went 50-3 and beat 3 P5 Conference champions, 1 runner up P5 conference champion yet magically never played a single ranked P5 team in a bowl game ever somehow. The only P5 teams Moore-Era Boise magically played in a bowl game was 2011 and they played 6-6 Arizona State. It was 42-7 at halftime.....

As a native Boise, Idahoan, the roots run deep and the modern 1A era (1996- present) is just as awesome as the prior fun decades where I got to attend the games with such legendary players and coaches as the great Grambling State coach, Eddie Robinson, who coached for 56 YEARS!! Who remembers the Riverboat Gambler, Rick Woods, who would literally RUN FORWARD while catching a punt!! That was insane!! Randy Troutman, The French back-up QBs who would get the offense sparked up in the Big Sky Conference slugfests!!
People like you and your dad are what make Boise such a wonderful place to live.
Still waiting for the day Boise State goes into Power 5 conference
werent they invited to the pac 12 or big 12?
@@PauII2001 not to my knowledge, may have been a rumor
@@PauII2001 no but they've been in talks of big 12 i think they'd be better there than the pac 12 honestly, better recruiting and bigger games!
They might not need to. I heard the playoff is expanding yo 12 teams in 2024.
That kicker is one of the best in BSU history stat wise. Sad that he received so much hate
Sending death threats to an amateur athlete for having a bad game. Classy.
@@scottyclayton2501 came here to say this. Go figure it’s that game that Brotzman was remembered for, forgetting about his accolades. 🤦♂️
I thought we were going to the Rose Bowl...
same! my hometown is 20 minutes from the stadium too
Wow what an amazing video. I have been a Boise State Fan for over 40 years. Never underestimate the Broncos. Thank you for posting this.
If being 3 points away from a second undefeated season in a row isn’t enough proof for people that college football needed a playoff system, then I don’t know what is.
Actually back to back to back undefeated seasons and 4 times in 5 years
@@brian2440 they lost their bowl game in 2008 so no.
@@brian2440 well when both teams play a combined 3 or 4 ranked teams. No one really cares.
@@muddywaters92 TCU played 4 Top 25 teams in 2008.
I’d like to know what competition you think the following teams played that were so much tougher than who TCU faced or #10 Oregon:
- Cincinnati (played #3 Oklahoma, #19 VT, #23 WVU)
- Virginia Tech (played #17 Cincinnati, #21 FSU, #22GT)
- Georgia Tech (played #19 VT, #21 FSU)
-Georgia (#1 Florida, #6 Alabama, #22 GT, #23 Michigan State)
- Michigan State (#8 Penn State, #12 Ohio State, #13 Georgia)
- Ohio State (#5 USC, #8 Penn State, #13 Georgia, #23 Michigan State)
Vs TCU played: (#2 Utah, #3 Oklahoma, #7 Boise State, #11 BYU)
You really think Georgia is going undefeated with TCUs schedule? you think Ohio State is?
How do you think Cincinnati, Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech fares in Eugene against #10 Oregon?
08 Cincinnati beat Hawaii by 5, the same team Boise State beat by 27.
Virginia Tech literally lost to a 9-5 G5 team.
Georgia Tech beat a Division II team (not FCs, Division II team) by 3 points…. What they’re going beat #3 Oklahoma in Norman or #10 Oregon in Eugene?
As an idaho native and lifelong Boise state fan the Kellen Moore era was something truly special
I'd play for Bosie State
I was a kid in the 90s and started to watch them as my hometown football team.
Even in their loss to Nevada, they led this game by 24 points and had 3 opportunities to win.
and that Nevada team was led by Colin Kaepernick who ran all over them. No shame in that loss looking back on it.
@@zoogie980 He really didnt until the 4th quarter. BSU led by 21 points in that game and then choked hard....
Plus Nevada missed the field and they called it good. look at it again
Even if Boise has beat Nevada they would have probably still gone to Rose Bowl instead of the BCS championship game in My opinion.
I was born a few blocks away from the stadium at St Luke's in 1988 times sure have changed it was amazing to watch the growth of the school, the city, and the whole area has blown up since I was a kid. My brother wrestled for BSU and they used to give tickets away nothing like now Kool video thanks for making it
Loved watching the Peterson/Kellen Moore led broncos play... Especially in the Smurf turf...😂
Im 33 years old and this year will be my 25th consecutive year as a season ticket holder.
Watch out for Boise this Year we have a guy at QB now
Can y’all beat Washington
As a Fresno State fan, I’m glad where they’ve been, they went from nothing to a superpower just because they beat 8th ranks Fresno in Fresno, I hope they get a better future
Fresno State is also a team that has had many great teams and many great wins. They are not afraid to play anyone. As a BSU fan, thank you for your kind words. I wish Fresno State the best this year and in the coming years.
As a Bills fan and as a Boise native, I can't wait to see what Shakir can bring to the table now that Beasley is gone. I hope he balls out. He was so damn good in college.
Same I've been watching all the chatter on Twitter he's been looking real good can't wait for the season to start.
How has he done so far?
as someone from new jersey who didnt go to college and has no allegiance to any particular school, boise state is a team i root for no matter what. Would love to go out there for a game one year
I want to see a BSU VS UIdaho game some time. Idaho may actually have a chance now under Eck...
I feel like the Magic Carpet Ride to the National Championship should have had more than just that very brief mention. Beyond that, a good brief overview of BSU. I moved there as a 12 yo kid when the 2001 team busted out of the gates, and I was wrapped up in Bronco Mania.
I personally know former Boise State QB in the 60s (Hal Zimmerman) he’s a southern Idaho fishing legend.
Greatest two point conversion of all time
love the boise state videos!!!
That Fiesta Bowl upset against Oklahoma is one of my fondest childhood memories. I was the biggest BSU fan back then. I nearly tear up watching the highlights of it in this video haha
Great video! Great subject very comprehensive!
I've lived in Idaho since I was little. I suppose I've really only payed attention to pro games, but Boise State is always fun to watch.
Excellent summary and Thanks very much. Not an Alum, but very enthusiastic supporter, ever since they beat Oklahoma in 2007, where I first witnessed the “Hook and Ladder” play, and my introduction to “tricks” on the gridiron.
Not to mention how many NFL Starter Players Boise State Developed
Boise State needs to join the Big 12. Today you can't succeed like Boise State did without Power 5 money for recruiting and coach retention.
LOL
If you recall New years morning Michigan played the Gators, Carr's last game heavy underdogs to a Florida team who won the National Championship the year before with the T-Bone at QB that was the last game for many year I had rooted to Michigan.
I rewatched the highlights for that game like four separate times while making this video
Giddy*
Chris Peterson's 2005 to 2007 run with huge for Boise State which is my favorite team and I live in Boise
07 Fiesta bowl was the best non-championship bowl game ever.
Ight you got my attention now sir I’m a big football fan especially college since middle school I’m 28 and your stories are spot on 🤟🏾🙌🏾
Good video but 1996 was our 1st year as Division 1-A. And Coach Koetter is pronounced KUTTER. Other than that, very entertaining video. Thank you! Go Broncos!
Been a fan my whole life
Among my favorite college games of all time. My favorite all time? Broncos beating the Okies in the Fiesta Bowl, of course!
Go orange, go big blue, fight, fight, BSU!
Boise State was one hell of a team.
#thekickwasgood. Boise fans know. It was an amazing time to be a student there. Unreal.
It will be interesting to see what happens this season with Danielson being the HC from the start.

That Nevada loss took a piece of me.
Those teams got me into college ball.
Hopefully they can rise again.

I’ll never get over the fact that BSU should’ve beaten Oklahoma State at home last year. I’ve never in my life blamed a game on the refs but wow… some awful calls in that one. The TV broadcast didn’t do it justice
I agree with you Joe Boise got fucked over in that game
Finally someone mentioned it NOBODY HAS TALKED ABOUT IT. Oklahoma State was going to make the Playoff if they didn’t lose to Baylor in the B12 championship
Very well done 👍🏼. Go Broncos!!

Thank you
I find it amazing Kellen Moore went 50-3 and the losses point total can be counted on one hand....
It's now 2024 pre season. Expectations and hype is super high. But I don't think there's enough talent to upset Oregon this year.

I cheer for Boise State actually
Boise st my fav team
The funny thing Kellen Moore era 90 percent games he was so far ahead by third quarter he would be on bench . Think coach Peterson cost him a the hyseman trophy he still leads in most won games 50 and three most those games lost by shank field goal misses . In his losses most were decided by field goal . You can say all the crap you want Kellen Moore winning est QB in all college football and only played too the third quarter .
Whats crazy too is that in the few games Moore lost they were against NFL level talent. Kaepernick at Nevada and Andy Dalton at TCU
Bleed Blue!! 🐎
They play is a hook and lateral, not a hook and ladder. They are not firemen, they are football players.
Why bring up the osu game. We should’ve won that game 😭😭

Whoa whoa whoa don't give Oregon credit. Bosie State lost to Oregon state. Oregon still hasn't beat Boise State.
Will see Oregon has a series with boise again 2024 boise at the ducks 2025 boise home and then away 2026 oh plus Houston from AAC
Didn't even mention how Boise State beat Georgia
Well 2022 could be a undefeated season stacked defense hardest games are San Diego state air force and byu, maybe freznope but well see oh and the pre ranks got boise 47 not to far out maybe get a fiesta bowl/ well things change but bsu wins out they play in the LA bowl against a mid pac 12 opponent
Their offense is pretty garbo
Our offense is terrible. We have a mediocre qb and an awful OC.
The GOATs
Let’s go someone is finally recognizing us
It's Caliboise state now that's all that lives in boise now
Sadly
Yooo where in jersey
I’m so glad Bryan Harsin is gone. Andy Avalos has what it take to take the Broncos into the future and return to their former glory.
Scott Fisher?
The Nevada game was rigged and i look back at it every day. 100% scam and had kaepernick ofc
Those days are long gone people still living in the past lv it turn out the lights the party's over booyah
BOOOIISSSSEEEE............ SSTTTAAAATTTTTEEEEEEE
You think we’re going to give YOU a slice of FREE pizza?”
Boise State looks down and reflects. Boise State goes back to share part of a sandwich at Subway with some other wishful group of five schools.
"What are you REALLY bringing to the table" Oh nothing just:
- 4th best career record in the sport all time
- Most winning seasons of any team currently playing in Div 1 all time
- Undefeated major bowl record
- Most undefeated teams in the last 20 years
- All Time Class Record
- All Time Class Margin of Loss Record
- 2000-2010 2nd best record of any decade for any team in the history of the sport (only behind 1890-1900 Yale)
- Best Home Record in Division 1 in the last 25 years
- One of only 2 teams to never record a losing season in the last 20 years (only other being Ohio State)
- Second most 12-win seasons in Div 1 in the last 20 years (only behind Oklahoma by 3)
- Only team in the last decade to beat a ranked team in OCC from every single P5 Conference
- Only G5 team with a positive record over the ACC, B12 and PAC12 (arguably the only team in the league thats truly not afraid to play anyone anytime anywhere - theyve played road games from FSU to Oregon to KSU to New York).
It would be nice to trade them with Colorado in the Pac12,
Colorado is still a far bigger name, legacy team than Boise State.

The academic requirements for Boise St are lower than they are for the rest of the Pac-12, doesn't mean anything to me personally but Pac-12 presidents love to parade it around like any of us care and again, Boise St just doesn't offer the Pac-12 anything financially or competitively that would improve the conference. They have a great fan base but it's a small fan base that won't bring in the viewership a big conference wants and is on the very low end in terms of fertile recruiting. It's about money you can generate and recruits that can improve the conference, unfortunately Boise St can't bring either of those to the table and it sucks because I would love to see them in the Pac-12.
@@jamesmarshall6619 can you explain why University of Arkansas at Little Rock can join the Pac12 conference in their sports, but Boise State can’t join for Football?
@@brian2440 do I really need to explain to you why the Pac-12 would include someone else in a non-revenue producing sport that also consists of minimal costs?
NOT THE FIRST BCS BUSTED #GODOGSGO #FRESNOSTATE
You didn’t mention the season opening against UGA in 2011! Jim Rome was the only guy who said they’d win that game! UGA played in the GA heat in their black and crimson unis that game and I still believe they were definitely too winded that day!!!
Too winded? They played in the Atlanta dome. A sealed air conditioned stadium….
@@brian2440 that’s true, but it’s still a HOT Georgia day, and being on the field under lights I’m not sure you can feel enough A/C to make a difference
Okay video, but learn how the names are pronounced. I counted 8 butchered names.
Nutt went 5-6
Dude! It's pronounced Ah-Va-Los...
The lack of proper pronunciation on the part of the narrator, demonstrates lack of familiarity with the long history of Boise State football and its TWO National Championships in Football. I had the winning TD pass catcher TE Duane Dlouhy from the great 1980 championship team as a student teacher in my high school PE class. So commercialized now, it seems like it is less intimate than it was back in the past.
Fresno State is the original bcs buster
