Think about this? The Aloha stadium rebuild would generate lots of money. UH football played at the newly renovated school campus field. All money went directly to the school. What was the AD response to the money staying at the school? How does the stadium benefit the school? Follow the money. Back door deals...... fishy. If you push the system or resist you get fired.😮
Sounds like Howard Schultz and the Seattle Supersonics. He sold the Sonics to an Out of State Owner so no one locally could do better and make him look bad.
Angelos clearly stepped on the "wrong" toes and messed up something important to somebody higher up.....by simply being too good at his job smh..... This firing makes it very clear that Hawaii's athletic struggles aren't by accident....they're by design.
That president made such a BS move on his way out. He could've left the school on a positive note by simply sticking with Angelos. Instead he decided to fire an AD that has done more for Hawaii athletics in 18 months than any other AD has ever done for them. He was on the path to not only making a profit but taking Hawaii to heights it has never seen on a financial aspect. He increased the TV revenue for the school by making it a full member of the MWC & eliminated the travel subsides that have held the program back for so long. Disgusting that a guy who should be retiring can make such a drastic & terrible move on his way out.
The president’s comments sounded nothing more than word vomit in an bad attempt to sound smart. It seems that he got jealous of the AD getting the credit for rebuilding the department and decided to be petty on the way out. Hope the decision is reversed in good time in some way!
That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. The President who HIRED him, is jealous of his success? That means the ADs success is his success since he hired him. Haha. Ok, nice try Diddy
Man, that season with Colt Brennan at QB where Hawaii reached the Sugar Bowl was amazing to watch. This whole situation is just sad and reeks of pettiness.
Hawaii has always been a up and down program. When tit comes to football and basketball. It’s the recruiting. They need to get a better pipeline. They honestly should be getting everything that the old pac 12 schools aren’t getting
Recruiting has been a problem since forever. There’s some amazing talent at local schools like Kahuku, Campbell, Mililani, Punahou, St. Louis etc. Problem is athletic program is wildly inconsistent and comparatively weak as opposed to even Cal where the QB from Campbell is set to go. Dillon Gabriel, Mariota, Tua, Alohi Gilman, all local talent, all going abroad cause they can achieve better results.
Plan and simple nobody wants to play in Hawai'i because the coaches don't know how to use Hawai'i to recruit. It's like you wanna play and live and go to school in a tropical paradise should literally be the recruiting.
Me being from Hawaii and a fan of UH athletics I really appreciate you making a vid on this whole situation. Keeping my fingers crossed that he will be reinstated one way or another.
The Mountain West move and Nike deal are enough reason to believe that Craig Angelos was doing a great job as Hawaii's athletic director. Hopefully this move can be reversed by their next president, because their athletic program has a lot of potential
Not really! Almost every college program relies heavily on the Football program to bring on large amounts of money so that money can be distributed to other sports that don't bring in money. Our football program to say the least is a joke. They don't sell out in an already small stadium and nobody supports the football program because Hawaii is bandwagon fans. They only come out when they win. The football program brings in the same amount you see at local high school football games and this is supposed to be a Division 1 program.
Disappointed with Lassner. He has a record of poor decisions such as the buzzeo fiasco but somehow he survived that and then went in to become president.
It's a tragedy that politics are ruining UH"s climb back up to relevancy. It makes no sense whatsoever to get rid of an AD that is doing what an AD is supposed to do: improve the overall health of the Athletic Department, and as someone that grew up in hawaii and has fond memories of going to UH games during the June Jones era, it makes me significantly less inclined to stay up late and watch the games if UH is going to CONTINUE to prove that they have no interest in fielding competitive athletics.
It’ll be a damn shame if the incoming president does not hire this guy back. I am not old enough to really remember Hawaii athletics being very good. I’ve only been seriously following other college football teams outside of my own team for about seven years now. I was excited to see a dumpster fire team start to head in the right direction.
I'm a Rutgers fan and in our case, our athletic director deserved to go (it was moreso an abrupt resignation though) two weeks before football season started. He's not an NIL guy, but it's beyond me WHY the gymnastics coach he had a relationship with STILL has her job too! She abused the women that she was supposed to be helping towards success, but our AD never really did anything despite the gymnasts' concerns and in the coach's five years, Rutgers gymnastics succeed in ONLY two of the Big Ten events. I guess I'll have to say the point is despite all he did for us until we learned the truth after his resignation, Pat Hobbs WILL NEVER be a Craig Angelos.
Please note regarding Rutgers gymnastics coach I'm not referring to anything she did after our AD Pat Hobbs resigned. Either way, I stress again it's time for her to go right now!
Hawaii football program, seems to always have trouble keeping the program stable. Unlike Kent st or Kennesaw st, it seems like travel problems, occasional bad weather and money situations are causing Hawaii football program being a average team
lol what is Kennesaw’s reasoning according to you? They had the most successful start to a D1 program ever, who cares if they had a bad first year as a full FBS program everyone virtually will. Go look at what they did in the FCS, it was unreal and that’s why it’s so disgusting to see their coach be let go when he’s done everything for that team since day 1.
Once this guy gave notice all his powers should have been taken. All he should be allowed is push paperwork and get administration duties done. No firing or hiring on his part. How can UH allow this. This guy has something else. Well make the AD will make it clear as to what he is talking about. BS
Seems like someone of power got jealous or rubbed the wrong way by Angelos. For everything he has done a better example of why he was fired needs to be stated otherwise this reeks of pettiness/jealousy. Almost like someone wants the sports program to fail.
UH Head should have talk to his board first, get their consensus. If the majority agree to fire him. Then he should be fired if not doing his job.. A great leader also will talk to this individual let him know what he need to improve on, give him time to make improvements..if unable to meet those expectations..then Jp fire him…
Lassner is such a damn idiot. Kept on Matlin forever when the program was nose diving down hard, then hired someone that actually tried to take their job seriously and help the school, then fire him for no good reason not even 2 years into Angelos' tenure. Lassner wasn't even going to be President after next year so what the hell was the point? Just spiteful, childish, dumb, and a disgrace. He better not show his face his face in Hawaii, locals not gonna take kindly to this clown PURPOSEFULLY RUINING HAWAII ATHLETICS.
Hawaii has some of the best High school talent, but Hawaii can’t get there home grown talent to stay home. UH, is basically our Pro team, so why is there no ,money to pay these stars to stay home.?
Well if your a UH football fan then you be happy because Angelo removed the practice field for football which drops UH down to FCS or div. II level in minds of new recruits. To make the huge track and field and women soccer fan base happy.
UH doesn’t care about football since they let McMackin walk. Every other sport gets support and success besides football and it’s obvious! Also with all the additional student housing being built you gotta think they’re trying to attract more athletes to come here but obviously not football players🤷🏽♂️
Hard to keep the best Hawai’i recruits in-state. That, the advent of the portal & the Aloha Stadium situation has really screwed over that program. I always loved watching Colt Brennan play. His UH teams were fun to watch…it’s a real tragedy how it all ended. The Nick Rolovich era was also a really underrated era in UH football as well
UPDATE: There are reports that with Angelos being let go by Hawaii the lucrative Nike deal may fall through
That’s crazy cuz this could be a great football program
Think about this? The Aloha stadium rebuild would generate lots of money. UH football played at the newly renovated school campus field. All money went directly to the school. What was the AD response to the money staying at the school? How does the stadium benefit the school? Follow the money. Back door deals...... fishy. If you push the system or resist you get fired.😮
@@Kalokala10 hmmm 🤔 different take on it so u saying the ad was not doing everything that he needed to do or do u think this is a bad firing ?
Even then though adjustments towards charter flights was a step in the right direction, what a shame.
The outgoing president had his feelings hurt. It's that simple.
that is a BS move why not let the next president make that call, the AD has made the school so much money
Because Lasner is a clown and can’t accept UH athletics getting better once he leaves because people will realize he was the problem
Sounds like Howard Schultz and the Seattle Supersonics. He sold the Sonics to an Out of State Owner so no one locally could do better and make him look bad.
I remember when Hawaii football, basketball and baseball were all consistently good.
I remember the golden age of the Rainbows!
Yeah that was like 20 years ago
Angelos clearly stepped on the "wrong" toes and messed up something important to somebody higher up.....by simply being too good at his job smh.....
This firing makes it very clear that Hawaii's athletic struggles aren't by accident....they're by design.
kickbacks, corruption, payoffs, this firing stinks. homie was cutting the bloat and the bloat cut back.
@colonelblars9126 exactly.
Hmmm...guess Hawaii will have to be my next rebuild project in College Football 25 😅
🤣🤣🤣preach
That is what I'm doing.
The stadium they play in that game isn't a real stadium.
That president made such a BS move on his way out. He could've left the school on a positive note by simply sticking with Angelos. It's always a problem when you get paid more than your boss (FB Head Coaches)
That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. The President who HIRED him, is jealous of his success? That means the ADs success is his success since he hired him. Haha. Ok, nice try Diddy
He’s probably a Kamala Harris supporter 🤷♂️just a thought 😜

Must have not liked him personally and decided to stick it to him
Too much clowns in Manoa. They ruined the Hawaii pipeline.
Very well said.
The new president’s job will be to rehire him
FACTS!!!
I won two national championships as Hawaii in CFB 25. If I can do it they can do it. (Also if they’re accepting applications I’m open to applying)
The Mountain West move and Nike deal are enough reason to believe that Craig Angelos was doing a great job as Hawaii's athletic director. Hopefully this move can be reversed by their next president, because their athletic program has a lot of potential
I didn’t even know Hawaii got a Nike deal.
Not really! Almost every college program relies heavily on the Football program to bring on large amounts of money so that money can be distributed to other sports that don't bring in money. That's UH athletics. One step forward then three steps back.
Im pissed with how Hawaii has made decisions
It's a tragedy that politics are ruining UH"s climb back up to relevancy. The University is a mess and definitely should be shut down.

Players and fans need to show more protest over this move
Really nice video, keep it up broski
Bring Craig back soon as this trash can is out for the future of Hawaii
I’m really rooting for Timmy Chang tho. Hope he can bring Hawaii back to respectability
Timmy Chang ain't shit. He can't lead the new crop
It's been a mess for the last 25 years. I was a former season ticket holder.
So does this effect the volleyball and basketball that play in The Big West as well? Like will those sports go to the Mountain West?
Basketball & women’s v-ball will join Mountain West. Men’s v-ball will either stay in the Big West or move to the MPSF.
@ does that go into effect in the 2025/26 season?
@@justinganz1173 No. UH doesn’t become a full-time Mountain West member until July 1, 2026. So beginning with the 2026-27 sports season.
I remember when chang played.hawaii was exciting to watch back in those days.college football has a whole was better back in those days
Transparency creates trust. The more you sensor, the more you invite speculation.
Finishing my rebuild of Hawaii with a perfect season and winning the natty after 5 seasons, and this is the first video I see in my recommended lmao
someone please count how many times the president used the word “evaluation”
Why can’t they keep all of the talent being developed on the Islands? 🤷🏿
They saw the pac 12 and realized they could have gotten a better deal from the mountain west
At least there stadium is cool 🤷♂
That stadium is terrible
Get rid of the football head coach, too. I'm glad that schager is leaving. That's the main reason for hawaii football being so sorry.
Their Nike designed logo is my favorite of all time.
Angelos would be a top candidate for me if I were hiring an AD.
Bruh Lasner is easily one of the most hated past UH presidents, letting the AD go is only cementing that status😂
Seems like someone of power got jealous or rubbed the wrong way by Angelos. For everything he has done a better example of why he was fired needs to be stated otherwise this reeks of pettiness/jealousy. Almost like someone wants the sports program to fail.

It has been a disaster since they let go June Jones!
Hawaiʻi athletics will survive this change. We still have great student athletes and coaches.
Hawaii has some of the best High school talent, but Hawaii can’t get there home grown talent to stay home. UH, is basically our Pro team, so why is there no ,money to pay these stars to stay home.?
But yet they get to keep MWC membership The Mountain West will survive just fine without HA.
Stop saying that Angelos got us into the Mountain West. That happens at the Presidential level.
You know HNL HAS FLIGHTS TO THE MIDWEST AND EAST COAST..
I believe Micah Alejado will turn them around
RIP Colt Brennan
Lassner was a horrible president. This is the cherry on a shit Sunday on his career. Hawaii will be better as a whole without him. He's a snake
Well if your a UH football fan then you be happy because Angelo removed the practice field for football which drops UH down to FCS or div. II level in minds of new recruits. To make the huge track and field and women soccer fan base happy.
Just bring him back!

You should retitle this video to Hawaii Football cause the other sports have success like MVB WBB MBB, baseball’s still alright
Its been a joke! UH has never been good
