Think about this? The Aloha stadium rebuild would generate lots of money. UH football played at the newly renovated school campus field. All money went directly to the school. What was the AD response to the money staying at the school? How does the stadium benefit the school? Follow the money. Back door deals...... fishy. If you push the system or resist you get fired.😮

That president made such a BS move on his way out. He could've left the school on a positive note by simply sticking with Angelos. Instead he decided to fire an AD that has done more for Hawaii athletics in 18 months than any other AD has ever done for them. He was on the path to not only making a profit but taking Hawaii to heights it has never seen on a financial aspect. He increased the TV revenue for the school by making it a full member of the MWC & eliminated the travel subsides that have held the program back for so long. Disgusting that a guy who should be retiring can make such a drastic & terrible move on his way out.

  • @scottkopacz167

The president’s comments sounded nothing more than word vomit in an bad attempt to sound smart. It seems that he got jealous of the AD getting the credit for rebuilding the department and decided to be petty on the way out. Hope the decision is reversed in good time in some way!

Recruiting has been a problem since forever. There’s some amazing talent at local schools like Kahuku, Campbell, Mililani, Punahou, St. Louis etc. Problem is athletic program is wildly inconsistent and comparatively weak as opposed to even Cal where the QB from Campbell is set to go. Dillon Gabriel, Mariota, Tua, Alohi Gilman, all local talent, all going abroad cause they can achieve better results.

Not really! Almost every college program relies heavily on the Football program to bring on large amounts of money so that money can be distributed to other sports that don't bring in money. Our football program to say the least is a joke. They don't sell out in an already small stadium and nobody supports the football program because Hawaii is bandwagon fans. They only come out when they win. The football program brings in the same amount you see at local high school football games and this is supposed to be a Division 1 program.

It's a tragedy that politics are ruining UH"s climb back up to relevancy. It makes no sense whatsoever to get rid of an AD that is doing what an AD is supposed to do: improve the overall health of the Athletic Department, and as someone that grew up in hawaii and has fond memories of going to UH games during the June Jones era, it makes me significantly less inclined to stay up late and watch the games if UH is going to CONTINUE to prove that they have no interest in fielding competitive athletics.

I'm a Rutgers fan and in our case, our athletic director deserved to go (it was moreso an abrupt resignation though) two weeks before football season started. He's not an NIL guy, but it's beyond me WHY the gymnastics coach he had a relationship with STILL has her job too! She abused the women that she was supposed to be helping towards success, but our AD never really did anything despite the gymnasts' concerns and in the coach's five years, Rutgers gymnastics succeed in ONLY two of the Big Ten events.
I guess I'll have to say the point is despite all he did for us until we learned the truth after his resignation, Pat Hobbs WILL NEVER be a Craig Angelos.
