I will be moving to Canada from the UK in Jan or Feb, but the decision was not economic; mostly adventure, a sense of urgency (i'm 33 so it will get difficult soon), and the desire to have a 2nd passport in case the UK goes to s***. Canada was a natural option as not only was it easy to get permanent residence without ever having set foot there, but the advantages (many of which you listed here) of Canada suit me better than the advantages of the UK. I've visited the UK multiple times, and honestly, when comparing Canada to the UK, I’d choose Canada. Despite challenges like economic slowdowns, inflation, carbon taxes, etc. Canada stands out as an excellent country for working with international businesses. Its strong economic ties to the European Union, the United States, and Commonwealth member states (facilitated by agreements like CETA and USMCA) make it a hub for global trade and collaboration. Canada also offers streamlined visa systems that enable workers with EU or Canadian passports to move easily, creating opportunities for flexible mobility, which is invaluable for international professionals. In contrast, the UK faces significant economic challenges, including stark disparities in productivity between London and other regions. Post-Brexit, the UK has experienced economic decline and has become more insular, having left the world's largest free market for jobs and trade 🇪🇺 However, the UK does show promise in the AI industry, where it benefits from fewer restrictive regulations compared to the European Union. As an EU citizen, if I were to move to another European country, the UK would not be my preference. The declining economy and restrictive visa policies for EU citizens-aside from limited bilateral agreements, such as with France-make it less appealing. As an Italian who chose to move to Canada, I recognize there may not be significant economic advantages compared to the most productive EU countries. However, Canada offers a unique melting pot culture, a dynamic international job market, and a deep respect and inclusivity for neurodivergent individuals like me. The one thing I do miss in Canada is the convenience of inexpensive Ryanair flights across Europe! Lorenzo 🇮🇹🇪🇺

Just a point about the UK's Healthcare system that you've got sort of incorrect. I am a Canadian who moved to Wales 18 years ago. The NHS is not one system across the entire UK. It is completely separate in all four countries in the United Kingdom, and is somewhat similar to the way the provinces administer healthcare. The UK government gives money to all the regions' NHS systems, but most citizens outside of England feel that there is often a disparity between the amount given to and the favouritism that England seems to receives over the rest of the country.
Have you made a video about "Is Canada better than Australia?" I would love to listen to your opinion(s) on that. I am living in Australia at the moment. I haven't found any good videos comparing Canada and Australia. It seems the world just forgets about Oceania. :D
Cold is interesting; I have relatives in the UK, and they agree they are warmer our cold winter than their mild, humid/wet warmer winter. I will take a snowy -7C over a rainy +2C any day (we get that in October and March for a couple of weeks). We know how to dress for cold and deal with snow. I would give another point to Canada for being colder when it counts. The only way to travel in England is to think of pounds as dollars - $20CDN spaghetti??

Housing in the UK is old and in terrible condition. They have some of the oldest housing in the EU. Not only that, but housing is small and expensive, filled with damp and mold! I like the UK but would never live there again.
you cant get 8 acres 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms a lake view with a barn in the uk for 120£, which is what I found in NB/NS lastnight....in the uk that would cost close to a million quid...these guys talking about work life balance , I work 12 hrs 6-7 days a week in the aircraft industry and still struggling to save for a holiday!
Thank you for advocating for Canada! It's an amazing country and all the pros you discussed here make Canada very easy to fall-in-love with. A lot of the sentiment for Canada is all doom-and-gloom at the moment but if we look outside our borders, we're doing relatively well. Not to say we should stay compliant and be happy with status quo, there's alway room to improve and this is where we should focus our energies to rather than fruitless complaining.
In these tough times, you should consider the 'chances' of survival after a nuclear attack. Most of the big cities in the UK have a huge military base, so for Canada, that's +1 point. :)
@4:50 Though its a correct comparison becoz Canada's land mass is huge as compared to that of UK but you hv made a little mistake in showing the population of Greater Manchester Area as 27 million which is actually over 2.7 million. Regarding Canada, I would say that it has got extremely beautiful nature and its extremely huge. If it works on itself by fixing the economy , creating latest infrastructure and more Industries just like the US, there is no doubt that it can become way better.
@@sudhirmaisker3146 Sooner or later, certain folks from the States gotta choose between Canada and Australia👀 You know after the second term of Trump Presidency begins in January 2025 💯
Australia definitely has the better weather and beaches but it is more remote and you need to take a plane to get out of the country. Canada has better nature (arguably) because it has the rockies and more varied places to visit/explore such as Quebec, where it is mostly French speaking and has a different culture+vibe. You also can always drive or fly down to the USA next door and it's pretty cool to have the most powerful country as our neighbour. Both countries are quite similar otherwise and have the same issue with unaffordable housing and inflation. Overall as a Canadian, I'm biased perhaps but I wouldn't find Australia better than Canada enough to want to immigrate there.
Private healthcare exists in some provinces with QC having the highest amount of private healthcare - specifically because QC public healthcare is among the worst. There’s around 70 private clinics in the province, they mostly focus on diagnostics, elective surgeries and doctor appointments. In other provinces, private healthcare is limited mostly to diagnostic tests and some surgeries.
I am Canadian (Lived In Vancouver and Calgary for years) and am just about to enter the UK and will be visiting London for a while as well as other cities in Europe. I have 88 days to see things. It will be interesting to compare things. The carbon tax (mentioned in some posts under me) will be gone in October as will the Liberal Party of Canada (same as labour in UK) in a massive conservative turn-about. Some polls in Canada have the Liberal Party losing party status in the country, that's how few people will be voting for them. As a result, in October an economic boom will begin in Canada, and after October 2025 things will definitely start to trend upwards for the country economically. That being said, Canada is having some of the same issues with immigration and islamists disturbing the peace and refusing to adapt to western values. That will also be taking a turn for the better in Canada as the incoming Conservative Prime Minister, Pierre Poilievre (pronounced Poly-Ev) will not have the same tolerance to such things (although we will have to wait and see what they do; face masks will soon be banned at protests; supporting Hamas illegal etc.) Also if you're planning on moving to Canada, you may wish to research the weather. It may not be your bag, so to speak. Can't wait to see London and investigate a little for myself. I'm off the QM2 in about 5 hours and am very excited to spend Christmas/New Years in London/Amsterdam. Peace and love to all. P.S. Canada will also be passing self defence laws that allow Canadians the right to defend themselves in public soon. Something we don't have but that Canadians (especially after the rise in crime over the last decade) desperately want.
Great video! Maybe it's a provocative statement but comparing Canada to just the US is.. well shortsighted in my opinion. I would compare the economic aspects of life in the US with Switzerland (incl. Liechtenstein to keep the keyboard warriors happy) - both have much higher gross incomes than the rest of the world (okay maybe Luxembourg and Singapore could "compete") due to much laxer employment security (at will in the US vs. termination for any reasons while respecting the mandatory notice period), longer working hours (42h is the official norm in CH), and much much less role for the government in healthcare and childcare. In return it's logical that people will expect significantly higher compensation for the higher risk. Canada's socioeconomic model, on the other hand, is more closely aligned with the rest of the OECD countries allowing for a more rational and direct comparison :). (P.S. USD and CHF are the only 2 major currencies that have appreciated by 30% which also affects the purchasing power in GBP, EUR or CAD in numerous ways. I still remember the days when USD-CAD was 1:1)
Absolutely NO. I spent 13 years in Canada and I’m now I back in the UK thank god. Quality of life is so much better here, everything is better here. To anyone thinking of moving to Canada, seriously, don’t.. Go anywhere but Canada. I absolutely do not agree that groceries cost more in the UK, it’s so, so much cheaper to buy food here. Also, don’t forget that many thousands of Canadians live in poor, slum inner city apartments.

You should take into consideration the quality of cuisines. I traveled in the UK in 2012 and I struggled to find good cuisine in the several restaurants that I have been to. It was expensive and disappointing. There are several festivals in Montreal and other cultural activities, maybe not as much as in London though.
London has a history of having very, very, very wealthy and well travelled people, it’s going to cost a lot to experience the good life in England. Plus you can easily go to other European cities to experience more culture within hours. Canada is very different when it comes to wealth, you have very low key old money and the obnoxious new immigrant wealth. Canada is about natural beauty and England is about a long history and culture.
Canada wins if climate aspect is adjusted. work life balance in canada is better and yes vacations are a thing to consider in Canada...If feel yes Canada is objectively the winner.
I’m not quite sure your calculations are reliable. The median isn’t the point at which half the houses cost more and half cost less. A $10m house on one side of the equation would balance 20 x $500k houses on the other.
We didn’t come up with a median definition. Antoine Augustin Cournot was the first to use the term in 1843. Not sure I understand your statement about balancing. A median is just a reference point, not an absolute value to live by.
British and Canadian citizen here, see, the problem with Canada is we need to change the whole system. The UK even doesn't work as well because of socialism. We need to embrace proper capitalism like the US , LOWER TAXES, encourage market competition, promote investment in the country, encourage research , attract investors based on lower taxes, remove useless regulations, don't force people to buy electric cars or spend money unnecessary on green technology which should be invested in boosting small scale businesses in Canada. Canada should also change the healthcare system to resemble that of the US where it won't be a kind of government funded but insurance based. As more investors pour into the country due to low taxes and close proximity to the US, people will also be encouraged to work and not sit idle at home waiting for government incentives. CANADA NEED TO STOP THIS SOCIALISt KIND OF GOVT SYSTEM AND EMBRACE PROPER CAPITALISM. Socialism has destroyed the UK ECONOMY TOO. THE UK IS STRUGGLING BADLY , NOT JUST CANADA ALONE. I LOVE CANADA AND WANT THIS PLACE TO BE GREAT BUT WE NEED TO CHANGE TO THINGS RIGHT AND JUST LEAVE THIS SOCIALISM KIND OF SYSTEM AS IT DOESNT WORK,

The median household disposable income for 2023 in the UK after tax is $43,500 USD (it is for all members in the house)... The median salary in the UK after tax is only $27,000... The median household disposable income in Canada for 2023 is approximately $68,400 and the median salary is $42,800, compare to household disposable income $43,500 in the UK , it is actually much more higher than you think.
Hi, I love your videos, but did you accidentally forget about Manitoba when you were making the Home Price/Income tables? If you go to 10:03 of this video, you'll see what I mean. I don't mind that you forgot about Manitoba though. I am not from there.
Nice video, I also enjoyed your splendid performance in the movie 'The Truman Show' 😋
Thank you! 😃
Housing in the UK is old and in terrible condition. They have some of the oldest housing in the EU. Not only that, but housing is small and expensive, filled with damp and mold! I like the UK but would never live there again.
Uk(India) vs Canada(India)😢
You should do one about australia vs canada.
Stay tuned !
you cant get 8 acres 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms a lake view with a barn in the uk for 120£, which is what I found in NB/NS lastnight....in the uk that would cost close to a million quid...these guys talking about work life balance , I work 12 hrs 6-7 days a week in the aircraft industry and still struggling to save for a holiday!
Well said!
Better Questiom to be asked would be Is Canada Better than Australia ❓️❔️

BRO AUSTRALIA IS BETTER THAN CANADA, THESE TWO ARE JUST WANT TO RUNRUclips CHANNEL AND PUT SOME RANDOM CONTENT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

You must correct an aspect about Medicare in Canada. It is possible to get all services on a private basis, if one can afford it.
Depends on the province
@ In the province of Quebec, it is possible to get all medical procedures on a private basis.
Not in BC!
@@5831a People with money can go to provinces who offer private services.
Anything is better than the UK.
hahahahahhaha
So, do you mean that many third undeveloped world countries are better than UK?
As a Brit, I completely agree with this. The UK is finished
Anything is better than Canada these
days…
Anything is better than canada
UK: Traditions, Culture and Proximity to Europe
CANADA: Vast Nature, Climate Choices, Natural Resources, Neighbors to US(There are Pros and Cons)
My limited simple mind choice CANADA😊❤!
better to Display all facts and figures in CAD or British Pound
Its difficult to make comparison when you use differing monetary measurements for Canada or UK
Much easier to find casual work in UK
In Canada, of course. The country is big and therefore, there is plenty of room to survive the war our politicians are cheering for
THESE TWO LADIES DOES NOT KNOW THAT TRUDEAU HAS MADE IT WORST AND THEY ARE STILL COMPARING OTHER COUNTRIES WHICH ARE FAR BETTER PERFORMING. USELESS!!!
Yeah we can hide in the wild.
I think Canadians attitudes are changing on immigration.
Canada all the way
I so much love Canada !!
Canada wins if climate aspect is adjusted. work life balance in canada is better and yes vacations are a thing to consider in Canada...If feel yes Canada is objectively the winner.
Agree. Also the housing being better and more affordable
UK is slightly better
❤❤❤
OBVI ❤
Northern Ireland is a province
Different vibes in the UK?🤔
I’m not quite sure your calculations are reliable. The median isn’t the point at which half the houses cost more and half cost less. A $10m house on one side of the equation would balance 20 x $500k houses on the other.
these are not our calculations, but census reports from both countries.
@@MakeThatChange I believe the explanation of "median" was yours?
We didn’t come up with a median definition. Antoine Augustin Cournot was the first to use the term in 1843. Not sure I understand your statement about balancing. A median is just a reference point, not an absolute value to live by.
You say distribute like a Brit.
UK is better than canada .My friend gone last week
Thanks for the in-depth analysis, I guess that settles it.
Hobson’s choice -both gone woke and now going broke. Eastern Europe or Latin America seem better options
in Canada the government picks your pocket. CANADA IS CRAAAAAAPPPPPP
I live in both...uk is better
I LOVE CANADA AND WANT THIS PLACE TO BE GREAT BUT WE NEED TO CHANGE TO THINGS RIGHT AND JUST LEAVE THIS SOCIALISM KIND OF SYSTEM AS IT DOESNT WORK,
YES! CAST SOCIALISM INTO THE HELLFIRE! BEGONE, FEL FORCES OF THE DEVIL!
Both are dumpster fires. Choose neither...
What would you choose?
Where do you live?
I think these people should move to Russia, I hear it’s fantastic.
To each their own
Why do you live together? Are you lesbians??? I can't tell if you are a couple. The lady with brown hair looks like lesbian, but not the blonde.
Why are you interested in it? Why do you ask with stupid/idiot/no sense stereotype considerations?
Unfortunately these days too many adults can’t afford to live alone, you have to get a friend to share expenses or live with family.
@@Keyblackcmyk00, it’s not a stupid question.
@@annetoronto5474 I'm not one to lean towards being "woke sensitive", but when you comment like @TB-ur7wv did "The lady with brown hair looks like a lesbian, but not the blonde" It's clear you're making a statement based on stupid/idiot stereotypes.
Weird question to ask. I wouldn't care about other people's sexuality, religion, anything

Wait, are you really think that the median households income in the UK is $60,382? The median household disposable income for 2023 in the UK after tax is $43,500 USD (it is for all members in the house)... The median salary in the UK after tax is only $27,000... The median household disposable income in Canada for 2023 is approximately $68,400 and the median salary is $42,800, compare to household disposable income $43,500 in the UK , it is actually much more higher than you think. Trust me UK is not the best choice for live today... 😀
The numbers you’re sharing are pretty much in line with the ones we’ve shared. The numbers are provided by census so it doesn’t matter what we think but what the data shows.
@@MakeThatChange Thank you. 😊👍
Median salary in UK is £35000 as per 2023 Govt data. And $ 55,000 in Canada
Check govt sites they are not that different
