Funny, no one seems to have a problem when ND doesn’t make the BCS, CFP, ect and make 0 money for doing nothing like conference bottom feeders do, only seems to be a problem when their all or nothing bet on themselves works on their favor. The conferences and the idiotic conference championships are the problem, not Notre Dame, PSU didn’t seem to have any issue with independence when they were independent prior to 1990.

What a nut job! Notre Dame has had a schedule with between 2 and 7 AP ranked teams per year since 1991 - the first year of the NBC contract (average of 5). Okay, not a bunch of SEC west headliners, but a respectable schedule. Admittedly, not as much talent as Ohio St, Bama and others, but that has NOTHING TO DO with being in a conference or not. Ask Northwestern, Stanford and Harvard about that..

ND should be mandated to be full participants in a Conference if they want to engage in the CFP!!!

ND makes more money as an independent. They command a lot of money on TV rights and do not have to share it

Notre dame WILL stay independent - 3 requirements, 1.home for olympic sports (ACC), 2.broadcast partner (NBC) and 3.route to the NC. Just to be clear, ND automatically gets a playoff payout and has no need for a conference! But it doesn't matter. We've got 1,2 AND 3!!

Teams in the SEC and Big 10 don’t “face a gauntlet” . The middle to bottom of those conferences are average at best. Thats just math. Just because teams play in a conference is no guarantee that they will face “a gauntlet”

Alabama watched their conference championship game from home and still got into two BCS four team playoffs. The SEC has been regularly scheduling teams like Mercer every year to fill out their 13 game schedule. I could go on but if you are an Irish hater you'll always make reasons to be so.

Basically how it went down: Notre Dame wanted to joined the B10. Michigan throw a hissy fit and beg the board to say no. Which they did. Notre Dame asked again century later yet same answers thanks to Michigan Influence. 21st century came along and Notre Dame don't mind being independent because they keep the profit they are making.

They don't have to share money with their conference, and they're treated like royalty when it comes to being included in playoffs and the like. Why would they join a conference? They get the best of both worlds and give the finger to the rest of the country (with the NCAA's blessing). The NCAA should force them to play by thr same rules as everyone else. Screw ND.

The Buckeyes saved college football with that win in 2014. A decade later. The Buckeyes again, show the playoff expansion is the right choice.

ND to join a conference would say we get 70% of the money and the rest of you share 30%. So it would mean teams lose money.

So with that logic Ohio State shouldn't be allowed in since they didn't play a conference championship.... Boring

I didn't write off Ohio State. Right when I heard the news Braxton Miller was out, I told everyone. "Watch Ohio State win the national championship". They did, I had that much faith in my friend. 🥰🥰

#1 I'm an Ohio State fan my entire life. Grew up with Urban Meyer, went to school with him. Before he became the coach, I was bragging to my coworkers, who went to Penn State. That Urban would pick Ohio State over Penn State for the coaching position. Something nobody talks about of the championship team. The game in Happy Valley, where the referees blew the worst ever instant replay. Clearly 100% you could see the Ohio State interception against Penn State was trapped. Stevie wonder could probably even see it was trapped but yet the referees confirmed it was a good interception. That right there was the reason Ohio State even had a chance to play for the National Championship. Penn State lost by less than a touchdown. Ohio State prevented a possible Penn State touch down on that play. Ohio State ended up getting a touchdown on that play. All that being said, this is why I'm probably the only person in the United States who has the right to complain about terrible referee calls that hurt Ohio State, because I'm honest. I call it as I see it, whether it hurts my team or not. That being said, the next year the "Mr Roper" Referees in the Purdue game. They were playing to the crowd. They did more to hurt Ohio State against Purdue than the Boilermakers did. but I digress. Back to the video. 😁😁

If I were ND, I wouldn’t join a conference. Financially it doesn’t make sense for the university. Also, if it matters that much to the other D-1 teams, then they don’t have to schedule them. Fact is, there aren’t enough schools that care that much

They want ND in a conference for an even playing field, yet ND is at a major disadvantage by not being able to get a first round bye. This has absolutely nothing to do with fairness. It has everything to do with greed and money. Fuck the conferences, and fuck the NCAA. Go Irish ☘️

It would make the most sense for them to join the B1G, as they already have a TV deal with NBC who are acting all pissy at the moment they can't get any decent games come November because of things such as the Michigan no night game deal and so on. There'd be no need for an elevator clause as NBC would cover that, and you could still keep most of their rivalries going. Heck, the number of protected matchups they have for some teams is insane. Alternative would be something similar to what Ferrari have in Formula 1, where they get a guaranteed protected payout if they joined say the ACC. It would raise the conference profile, and again, you can use protected games to keep some rivalries going. The SEC will never happen. They don't need ND anymore, an Big 12 makes absolutely no sense.

I love how this guy left out the key part of Notre Dame’s independence. Notre Dame tried to join the Big Ten way back in the day but the U. of Chicago and the school in Ann Arbor blocked them from joining. That’s why ND isn’t in the Big Ten…but in the 90’s when the Big Ten came after ND, the Irish remembered and told them to pound sand. As far as the ACC or anyone else, Notre Dame doesn’t need a conference.

Maybe more teams should be like Notre Dame and become independent. If they would tried to force Notre Dame into a conference a million graduates from ND's law school would sue and win.
