To all the people saying Notre Dame just broke the bowl game curse, they didn't. The first round of the new playoff system is NOT a bowl game. It's an additional home game, and playing at home is simply not the same thing. 🤷 Beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and you'll actually conquer this demon, but until you do that, he's still there lol.
The thing about these games is that they are also considered playoff games so until now Notre dame was 0-10 in playoff games, they’ve now won a postseason game. The monkey is off there backs. Your mad get over it.
"Bowl game curse" is pretty inaccurate imo as Notre Dame was won plenty of bowl games over this period. More accurate term would be "major postseason curse" because that would clarify that it includes the trend of losing (usually by a significant margin) BCS, NY6, CFP, games and a conference championship game. And it is not listed only as an additional home game, it is also expected to count towards a new 'Playoff Record' which also includes the first rounds. And this would undoubtedly count as a major postseason victory, and since that term more accurately describes the trend of Notre Dame in the postseason, it seems they have broke the trend.
To be fair it comes down to bad luck. Running into the eddy lacy bama team, zeke with Ohio state, Trevor Lawrence with Clemson, and then bama with devonta Adams, all heisman winners lol and then bk leaving them 2 weeks before the OSU game that’s bad luck
Notre Dame in the '07 Sugar Bowl effectively made Jamarcus Russell the #1 pick. Also, the Manti Teo Catfish Story could've been a chapter in the Notre Dame saga of bowl ineptitude.
First of all we need that, we need to be reminded of all the big losses since '88. Second that video makes it seem as if we haven't won a bowl game since. Then, this is a totally different team. We gonna shock the nation.
Maybe the Irish don't win the game, but the 2012 National Championship would undoubtedly have been closer if Nick Saban didn't have the ability to pay his players under the table and they had to go to class... convenient he retired right after players could legally get paid. Yes, I'm salty. Wouldn't you be?
That's because Notre Dame is simply overrated is there an independent that pretty much gets to pick their schedule. And the people who write the polls just simply love Notre Dame so sometimes they ranked higher than they should be just to get into these bowl games and now the playoff system
If only Mayer and Williams had played, they would have beat OSU and that's not even a question. OSU didn't face ND at their best. But unfortunately it is what it is. 😢
indiana never proved themself as a great team. they had an easy schedule and lost to their one good opponent by a landslide. you guys also had an easy schedule, indiana never proved themself and therefore you guys still havent either. ill believe youre a legit team if you atleast COMPETE with georgia
This coming Sugar Bowl vs Georgia is gonna be a crucial game for Notre Dame to prove their status in the current landscape. Tbh this is probably the best chance they will get to topple a top SEC school as this is one of the weakest Georgia teams we have seen in a couple of years as well as Beck being out. Winning this game would be a big boost for Freeman & will make the base have much more faith in the team & shows that he can be talked about as one of the best coaches in college football rn. However if they can't beat this Georgia team I think it would be a demoralizing loss for the Irish,it shows if they can't beat Georgia in what is an off year for both them & the SEC as a whole then they probably won't ever beat them in their toughest form as well as when Bama bounces back after this season to get to their regular form.
The first round of the new playoffs aren't bowl games though. 🤷 They're an additional home game, and playing at home is not even REMOTELY the same thing. Beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and the major bowl game monkey will actually be off your backs.
@@Cooe. a playoff win is significantly more meaningful than a random bowl game with no ties to a National Championship. Monkey is off the back of Notre Dame wether or not they beat Georgia

The whole point is that Norte Dame doesn’t belong with the elite teams, which always have NFL level talent. Luck has nothing to do with it.
