Unfortunately there has been a copyright issue with the clips from the Michigan Ohio State 2006 matchup
Doggone Big Ten Network or Big Ten Conference!
The 1971 Oklahoma team averaged 471 *rushing* yards a game for the season which is still the record over 50 years later
Sheesh, that’s never getting broken
Wrong
471 PER GAME WTF?????
That’s like two Ashton Jeantys lol.
Boise State invented the Oklahoma drill
Quite impressed at the amount of old footage you found.
You've got a great channel man! Magnificent content
Thank you, this means a lot coming from someone as successful as you‼️🤝
Please post more college football vids!
@@TRockNFLto find articles news media in the past, have you ever tried way back machine?
Very nice content. I did not see Iowa v. Michigan in 1985 here. I realize it is probably not branded the game of the century, but it is #1 v. #2.
1986 had #1 Oklahoma vs #2 Miami
1987 had #1 Nebraska vs #2 Oklahoma
T Rock NFL, SEC Shorts, and SEC Roll Call all on the same day?
Best Monday ever
Shoutout to you for watching 🤝
Having graduated from UT in May 1969, my entire family watched the UT/Arkansas game as one of those 50%+ TVs tuned in.
OJ doing what he does best, cut left, slash right and run like hell.
the Army Navy game in 1944 happened during WWII, not WWI
Yeah that’s what he said…
@@sackofdope14 2:07 no It’s not
@sackofdope14 he said WWI..
I think that Nebraska and Oklahoma also had a game of the century matchup in the late 80s as well
1:38 the headline of OSU juxtaposed with the potential of Europe going to war is so funny
And “Italy might quit league is warning…” what a wild time
Was that a cheerleader or a player on the field doing backflips after a big play during that Texas vs Arkansas game? 😂😂
Definitely think it was a male cheerleader, I was shocked when I first saw it
Love the channel! I'm gonna share this video with my college football loving friends.
Too bad Ohio State v Oregon this weekend is 2 v 3 and not 1 v 2. Same things on the line, though, obviously.
Well done! Informative, well paced and visually pleasing. Keep up the good work!
Thank you
Loving your channel. Thanks your research and hard work!! Greatly enjoyed and appreciated!! ❤
And thank you for watching
This is the type of college football content I look for. Hell yeah man
Underrated asf love the content can’t wait to watch this vid
Hope it’s been good so far🤣🤝
Great vid! You've got yourself a new subscriber.
Thank you‼️
You’re so underrated bro. Keep it up
Thank you 🤝
Phenomenal vid, amazing channel my guy
Thank you‼️
I followed college sports in the late 1980's and early 1990's by reading the newspaper, as most of the games were not available to me on tv. Radio was an option at times. Florida State was in the Top 5 every year back then.
ok boomer
You're a legend. Amazing work!!!!
Thank you🤝
Fantastic Video man
Thank you 🤝
i fw this keep grinding
Thank you
LSU-Alabama in 2019 was also 1 vs. 2 in the AP poll
Correct, but the CFP is what the offical rankings went off of and since Ohio State was No. 1 it couldn’t be the game of the century
Been looking for a video like this. Great job but had to laugh at the Beano Cook pronunciation haha! Bee-no is how it should sounds. Biano (like piano) was funny to hear though. Had to laugh but great video. Thanks again
Yeah I’ve never heard of him a day in my life, 98% of these names I’ve never even uttered out my mouth as a kid born in 2006🤣
Wait till you hear about Dickas
Really deserve more subs my man! been subbed for a couple weeks now
Thank you‼️🤝
if Texas loses to Georgia or Oklahoma, OSU beats Oregon and Penn State beats USC, we would have a 1 vs 2 when they meet up
It's a definite possibility.
OK so the 2006 Michigan team left out a lot of context. In order
Weeks 2-7
MICH 41-7 C Mich(10-4 Mac Champs)
MICH 47-21 @ #2Notre Dame(Were 10-1 before losing to #4USC & #5LSU in Bowl)
MICH 27-13 Wisc(Finish 12-1 only L)
MICH 28-14 @Minn(7-6 Bowl Team-Rival)
MICH 31-13 Mich St(Huge Rivalry Game)
MICH 17-10 @Penn St(Finished 9-4 & 3 other Ls @ ND, Wisc, Ohio St... 7-1 @ Home)
Lost in Columbus 42-39 with a roughing the passer or late hit out of bounds on QB for Ohio St to end that game.
Also the Rose Bowl was vs a USC team who was 60-6 & 23-3 vs ranked teams from 02-06.
At Half it was 3-3 and going into the 4th it was 18-11 before USC went on to win 32-18..
Finished 11-2 with a 10th in SOS
Didn't the #1 Iowa team play the #2 Michigan team in 1985? Does that game not count as a game of the century?
I used the offical NFL.COM list for the game of thrones centuries.
www.nfl.com/photos/college-football-s-games-of-the-century-0ap2000000281044
But on a quick 1985 game of the century search you see game shows listed first so I guess it was just seen a #1 vs #2 and not the game of the century search
@@TRockNFLAnd #1 Notre Dame against #2 Michigan and 1989
That's correct...Jim Harbaugh was the starting quarterback.
@someperson3883 good call, but us Michigan fans would like to forget about that one...couldn't stop the "Rocket"
No, harbaugh was already with the bears. But Elvis Grbac made his debut during the game.

If uga didn’t lose we might’ve had one this year
The chance of Georgia @ Texas on October 19th being 1 vs 2 was exactly why I planned this video a month ago, I just knew it was going to happen until it didn’t…
BUT and this is very unlikely but still possible, if Georgia beats Texas, Ohio State beats Oregon, and Penn State runs the table up until November 2nd
Ohio State @ Penn state would be a 1 vs 2 in November
Yes unlikely, but still possible
@@TRockNFL OHHHHHH I never thought of that the only thing is that texas and uga game otherwise this probably could’ve happened
Ohio State and Oregon is very close 2 vs 3
only remembered to followed cuz of statistics got u bro
Thank you 🤝
Great video though a lot of great analysis it just missed what feels like most of the 1980s.
T Rock BANGER
Thank you
I still think the 1st 2011 LSU-Bama game is the greatest game I've ever watched. So much NFL caliber talent on the field at both levels on both sides of the ball literally locked in stalemate for 4 quarters
If there was any offense in that game I’d agree. Not even more points, just offense.
I think you can argue 2019 lsu Alabama was better talent wise
@ryandunn2930 i think better QB play, not necessarily better offense, but they were both run heavy teams at the time
@Boots_productions I don't think the 2019 defenses were up to par with 2011. Definitely better QB's, WR's and maybe O-Line
Some of the bowl game invite rules were ridiculous back then. 😅
Man said illinoise
coulda waited a couple weeks for when osu and psu play
Not if the Horns win out🤘
Boise State is always number 1
2001 #1 Nebraska vs #2 Oklahoma
I thought 2019 LSU and Alabama was dubbed game of the century also I remember hearing that
What about the recent #1 Tennessee vs #2 Georgia from two years ago?
Good video. But didn’t #1 Notre Dame play #2 USC in 88? Or are the rankings wrong?
No, Army's win streak did not stay alive after the 0-0 tie. Their unbeaten streak stayed alive.
4:28 I’m not watching your vids again. The s is silent in Illinois headahh😭😭
Funny you ripped Lee on the LSU 2011 team but failed to mention Jefferson's inability to throw past 30 yards was why we lost that natty. If Les had put in Lee we would've gave Bama a much better shot.
Wasn’t SMU vs TCU in 1935 a number 1 number 2 matchup? Also the 1963 Rose bowl, Wisconsin vs USC, was number 1 and number 2 matchup
No bowl games can count as a game of the century, otherwise every single BCS championship would be one
Why didn't Army and Notre Dame accept bowl bids back then???
Ion wanna hear about when we had to play Bama a second time 😢😢😢 MOMMMMAAAA !!!
this is missing 1984 #1 Texas vs #2 OU, played to a 15-15 tie. Last meeting of DKR and Switzer.
I used the games listed by the NFL.COM for this video because there are about 20 more #1 vs #2 matchups that took place that didn’t make this video, so to take out any subjectivity I just used the ones officially listed by the NFL

Didn’t LSU and Bama play each other in 2019 when they were 1 and 2
In the AP poll yes but Ohio State was #1 in the CFP poll
What about Michigan Washington from last year?
That was in the playoff, no bowl games or playoff games can count towards a game of the century
@@TRockNFL ah ok thank you for the reply!
Illinois the S is silent just a heads up
Was 2005 Rose bowl not considered the best championship game of all time between USC and Texas??? Wouldn’t that be considered a game of the century???? both teams were #1 and #2…
Good lord I hope nobody every uses this phrase again
Where is Iowa vs Michigan 1985
There are probably 20 more No. 1 vs No. 2s not mentioned in this video because they didn’t get the GOTC moniker. My list I used comes straight from the NFL.com to take out any judgement on which was or wasn’t a game of the century
Here’s the link: www.nfl.com/photos/college-football-s-games-of-the-century-0ap2000000281044
@@TRockNFL Who gives the games that moniker? The media? Seems pretty arbitrary. You should have included all #1 vs #2 IMO.

2022 uga Tennessee was #1 vs #1
osu pokes would’ve took lsu down in 2011
#1NU/ #2 OU - 1987, in Lincoln? (Sooners won... 😞). (Followed by #1 OU / #2 Miami, ~6 weeks later - in the Orange Bowl that season) -
My list is from the NFL.COM website www.nfl.com/photos/college-football-s-games-of-the-century-0ap2000000281044
This way there was no judgement on my selections for this video
@@TRockNFL Ok, Thanks. I just remember 1987, when it was just so rare to get #1 / #2 meeting each other - as your video demonstrates. I graduated NU in '85, and in 1987 - while I had moved to CA - I vividly remember 'us' being #1, and #2 OU coming to Lincoln, in November - and dominating us... 'We' scored 7 early, and lost 17-7. I still remember the promos for that game (CBS). From 1985 - 1987, OU lost only 3 games, each to Miami... pretty much a changing of the guard, and of the game itself - to much more pro-style / passing. Anyway, thanks for this video - and the one on the decline of the BCS. Good stuff! 🙂. As bad as all these various playoff incarnations (which gave us many #1 vs #2) - COULD be, at times - there were some satisfying outcomes, too... had there not been a Bowl Alliance, people would still be arguing about who was best in 1995. 🙂 Cheers... --Jeff
I wonder what your thoughts are on the playoff expansion.
At first I was against expansion but I like that it’ll at least remove opt outs from historic bowl games like the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Fiesta (Cotton and Peach too ig).
I feel like the perfect “expanded” playoff would’ve been eight teams
That way you have four quarter final NY6 games
Rose
Sugar
Fiesta
Peach
Then the two semis NY6 games
Cotton
Orange
Then the national championship (I’d have it at the rose bowl but we know that’ll never happen again :(
@@TRockNFL
Thanks…
I would have preferred an 8 team format over 12, too - but don’t think, no matter the format - that the 2nd, or 3rd best SEC team will be arguing with the Cincinnati’s and FSU’s of the world - for spot #8, or #12, or - whatever - because of the SEC’s ‘mighty legacy’...
After 45+ years of following the NCAAF - and now with NIL / transfer portal / never-ending conference realignment, and - gambling - finally, last season’s FSU snub - ended my long, but gradually declining love affair with the sport. As was said by Hemingway, in a very different context - the change (in my perception) - was “gradual, then sudden.”
I appreciate the SEC’s recent history, but everyone has to start every season the same - 0-0. 13-0 in a P5 cannot be left out, unless all 5 are undefeated. Then, and then only - could we have all the familiar arguments…
Sheesh, we make movies about individuals, and teams - that beat the odds, no matter the adversity. FSU, no stranger to national championships, as a program - was snubbed, because they were PERCEIVED to be not as good as 1-loss Bama (or 1-loss UT) - due to their starting QB’s injury in Game 11. But, FSU still won out after that, including winning the ACC title game - making them UNDEFEATED P5 ACC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS.
I’ve been around NCAAF long enough… to hear all the arguments about margin of victory, strength of schedule, how teams did vs. common opponents, etc. - but we can NEVER leave out undefeated P5 - FOR defeated P5.
In 2023, the ‘mighty’ SEC WAS extremely great at beating up on each other, BUT - they really did not do so well out of conference - including a drubbing of LSU at the hands of the very same, snubbed FSU, and - eventual 1-loss P5 Big XII champion UT - went into Bama, and comfortably won there by 2 scores. There was no controversy about it… no prominent bad call, or major injury - just a solid win.
I appreciate that Saban then told his team, ~ “All our goals are still attainable.” I would not have doubted him, until Selection Sunday…. because he had gotten his team to go undefeated the rest of the way (including another miracle at Auburn). But, there were only 4 spots, and they were not worthy of one of them, as it turned out - albeit in a highly unpredictable manner.
Even that Friday, I would not have predicted 3 undefeated P5 champs, and two 1-loss P5 champs. The two 1-loss P5 conference champs had the most convincing of all tie-breakers - a head to head result, and - importantly, one without controversy.
Had UGA beaten Bama on that Saturday - we KNOW that UT would have been the P5 conference champion left out, with FSU ‘in’. We’d have had 4 undefeated P5 champs, and the committee could go to bed early on Saturday night - and have slept soundly. Instead, Bama beat UGA, and - the committee DID THE UNCONSCIONABLE.
As odd as it was, and no disrespect to Bama or Saban… they lost last season 2023, in September, at home - to another P5 champ, who also finished with 1 loss. Bama’s loss mattered, or should have mattered. The ‘experts’ tell us constantly - that the game results matter - but it turned out that they actually didn’t… NOT when it came to $$, and - a committee that was set up to NOT be held accountable. How is it we cannot know HOW committee members came to the result that they did? We aren’t even allowed to ask! Instead we (i.e., the bought and paid for Rece Davis) can only ask the (bought and paid for) head stooge of said committee. What a joke…
It was SO obvious what the proper thing for the committee to do was, but - they took the easy way out. Isn’t it odd?... that the obvious decision would have been the most courageous - which was to put Bama at #5 - where they BELONGED last season. But no… $$ / ‘history’ / legacy / subjectivity > ‘win all your games and you’re in’ / courage.
Yeah, there’s a huge diff between #4 and #5.,, just ask people in the FSU program. After a train wreck of an Orange Bowl, and at 1-5 start this season - that program has yet to recover from that abominable decision, corruption, and - injustice. As Jimbo Fisher said not long after… ~“You just cannot mess with the game like that.”
After all the ‘sudden’ changes of the last few seasons, I thought I was ‘done’ with NCAAF - at the start of the last two seasons, only to be drawn back in - because the product on the field was still so compelling. Not so this season. After the FSU snub, I no longer give a fuck about NCAAF - it’s now corrupt beyond repair.
Now, should I wish to watch professional football - I do so on Sundays. At least I (and the IRS) - know the pay structure - it’s disclosed in the NFL. HOW can we even be surprised by the UNLV situation?
Also, there is no longer even the pretense of the student-athlete. At least when I was a student, in Lincoln, in the early 1980’s - student-athletes were expected to attend classes, as full time students - and get passing grades.
Back then, there were certainly ‘no-no’s’, even major ones - going on at every major program, including NU - but one could still occasionally expect to see a player walking to class, or - even have a player in one of your classes - as some of my friends did. One NU player, a D lineman who started for NU on the 1984 team - could often be seen STUDYING - at Nebraska Hall, in the evenings - along with all the other engineering majors (a tough major for a player). Now - it’s the Deion Sanders’ kids - showing up to the stadium in their Rolls Royces (or whatever)... Good Luck seeing them ANYWHERE else on the CU campus.
As for the 12 team format starting this season, as satisfactory as that will be for some - there will be obvious downsides - and some not so obvious (yet). In 2014, when it went to the 4-team CFP - who knew, at first - that it would make all the other bowls essentially meaningless?. And, who would have predicted the Christian McCaffrey effect? I DO get the $ factor, but I also like what Saban said when, in 2022, and Bama left out of the CFP, and then went on to win the Sugar Bowl… that he was glad his stars (including Bryce Young, in his last game - before being the #1 overall NFL draft pick) - “had finished the season with their teammates”. That seems like a pretty great commitment, and pact - for all teammates, no?
Last season, we had players jumping into the portal IMMEDIATELY after the regular season, including many from FSU - and not even waiting until their team’s last (bowl) game, or the completion of the CFP. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah - recruiting, but maybe something ought to change there…
All of this resulted in a pathetic Orange Bowl. If one’s teammates are jumping into the portal before the season is over - how can the other players not be terribly affected by that - in regard to preparing for and playing hard in a meaningless bowl game? Sounds like the potential for injury city to me, and - I hope all the other bowls just go away. Many will probably remain, but no one really gives a fuck - except tv execs, the gambling sites, and the fans on vacation in Florida or California. These have become a complete charade and farce, by now…
I expect, for the same reasons as now - that we’ll see players opt out - EVEN should their team make it into the 12-team field! A player with a promising NFL career - is not going to want to risk that, depending on circumstances - such as an obvious mis-match in the seeding. Fans are NOT going to like that - as even I, am still not great with what McCaffrey did. You take the deal (scholarship, in his case) - you keep (finish) your commitment… Sheesh.
Anyway, Thank you, and - Best to You! Keep up with the historical videos on NCAAF… For me - college football was once both the greatest and most maddening sport ever created by man! Now, I don’t even recognize it.
Thanks and Cheers,
-Jeff
P.S. I am sure this was a bit more of an answer than you desired, or asked for - so thanks for reading my reply… It was fulfilling for me to get a few things off my chest! Cheers…

Bro. Nebraska #1 gators #2 Fiesta bowl hello
No bowl game can count towards the game of the century, other wise every single #1 vs #2 BCS bowl would’ve been titled the game of the century
Man I mean no disrespect but your narration is pretty rough. You lost me on every story - bouncing around, adding unnecessary information, WAY too fast paced, WAY too small of a break between thoughts and sentences, WAY too shaky in your confidence. I dunno if you're a new creator but if so hopefully you can improve with time and repetition.
How did you pronounce Frank Leahy? He's very likely one of the five greatest coaches in college football history and you said his name like you probably have never heard of him prior to making this video and when you pronounce the S when you say Illinois, it makes you sound like a rube. Come on. Do the groundwork that gets you an A+ when you take the test.
Would like to see a video showing National Championship games of #1 vs #2.
Definitely interesting, that’d be 100% of the national championships in the BCS era then the few sprinkled in the Coalition, Alliance, and CFP eras
