I still can't believe that the final Miami TD counted as a TD. The WR simply did NOT catch the ball. In modern football, that would have been overturned on video review ... no TD. In the late 80s, I guess a clear non-catch becomes a TD. In any event, ND won ... as they should have. Amazing game.
This is unnecessary. People can attain a quality education lots of places ... including the University of Miami. Educational elitism is fairly obnoxious, whether it is Ivy Leaguers looking down their noses at ND grads or whether it is ND grads looking down their noses at State U grads ... or Miami grads.
Hey disgruntled the same way you feel about notredame is how I feel about Miami but this is not about feelings it's about facts fact Miami was the defending national champion in that game & watching the game it could have went either way & it was one of the most exciting games I've seen & if Miami had won the game like they were supposed to & let's not forget Jimmy Johnson could have tied it with an extra point but at Miami we Don't play for ties I believe Miami had six!!!! turnovers in that game & still should have won it & Notredame wad just getting back good while Miami was already on top of the college football world Miami had won championships in 83, should have won it in 86 & won it in 87 so yeah Notredame was lucky to win the game & Miami would have won three straight because we won it again in 89 by dominating Notredame 27-10 our defense dominated Notredame so facts over feelings man
@@stormwarning522what about 90 where ND beat Miami? ND was the better football team in 88. Miami was better in 89. The true fact is, Miami lost to Notre Dame on October 15th 1988. There is nothing you can do about. The fact is that Walsh was too stupid to see the blind side and how he could’ve ran it in to score. The numbers don’t lie, 31-30
Notredame was one point better than Miami that day & let's not forget the touchdown they took away from Cleveland Gary they ruled it a fumble when it was a touchdown so yeah Notredame was very luck that day if those teams played 6 times Miamis beat Notredame 4 or 5 out ot the six Miami was clearly the better team
"Miami should have won that game ...." Except for the part where they LOST. ND beat them fair and square. Miami was a great team in '88, and was a top program in that era. No reason to pretend they were more than that. ND beat 'em in '88. It happened. Live with it.
I have zero respect for Lou holtz. I remember when he quit the ny jets with one game left in the season to go to Arkansas. Totally shameless. A man of integrity and character finishes what he starts even under difficult circumstances. Lou seems to think he is a “player” in the ncaa coaching world… he’s a pretender, nothing more. This video gets a thumbs down!

That 1988 Notre Dame vs Miami game was one of the greatest of all time.
Love Lou & ND.

The officiating was horrendous that game. I’m surprised that despite that, both teams put up a hell of a game and we managed to win
EXCELLENT ❤❤❤❤❤
The man the legend
Miami graduates work for Notre Dame graduates
@rossrreyes....yo momma works for Luther Cambell 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

Not all our players were catholic. Lol
Miami should have won that game & they would have won 3 straight national championships they were a true dynasty
And then you woke up .
There is no better college team on the planet than Notre Dame
