Dude, Awesome video! Dave Mustang‘s always been one of my favorite and seeing one of my newest favorite guitarist playing Megadeth it’s pretty bad ass🤘
My main issue with Gibson's always seems to be tuning related. And while this guitar sounds great, it's also slightly out of tune in several sections of the video. I'm more of the Hetfield fan and even with Het's silhouette everywhere and name on the pickup, I would never buy it because it's Gibson, but it does seem like a fine fast downpicking instrument. (A cover can either be a carbon copy, or a proper your own take. But it should never be just bad or sloppy thing.) Hell, I’ve even heard you cover Iron Maiden and it sounding good. Maiden covers usually just sound terrible.
Fantastic review. I can totally see you were with the tightness/chunk of the pups. I love the V with the hockey stick. I’d go as far as to say it looks better.
I miss Dave’s old days with Kahler bridge and Jackson King V. He inspired me to start playing guitar and in doing so, to choose Flying V (but later I got Kramer Imperial Explorer someone very nice gave to me). But … Now I kinda hate him!!! Including his guitar!
Looks cool, sounds good, and seems like Gibson may have made a guitar that stays in tune. But, for me, the best part is the life-size Dave silhouette on the back of the headstock.😂
That doesn’t really make any difference. It’s a sophistry. The distance to the strings makes an obvious difference. Beyond that, it’s just how hot the pickup is.
Such an ugly guitar but it sounds really good. Love SD pickups. Got a Nazgul/Sentient set a while back and they're much better than anything else I've ever had, even the Warpigs I have in my LTD. The Thrash Factor would sound great in modern metal/metalcore but I feel like it would lose its tightness the lower tuned you go.
For me, I just love the hockey stick headstock. Always will be one of my favorites. I just think I’m more of an Explorer body kinda guy. Still looking for a decently taken care of Golden Axe
For a brief weird moment in the 80s Gibson made some Les Pauls with Explorer headstocks, those looked pretty cool too. I think it was the Aldo Nova model, remember him? I keep wanting to build an Explorer with a Les Paul headstock, strictly to annoy purists. :D Good luck looking for a decently taken care of old Explorer. I browse for them now and then, and people want CRAZY prices for old beat-up road warriors that need fret jobs and whatnot. I'm sure glad I never sold my '84 Explorer with factory-installed Kahler; it would cost so much to get even a raggedy-ass one now that I'd probably be better off having a custom one made. That Mastodon model you mentioned is a beautiful instrument, but I just looked and people want almost three grand for one in "good/very good" condition. Forget that noise.

A wild Gibson that I'd actually enjoy buying has appeared!
I prefer every other Mustaine model, I don’t like the rounded wings. Had the Axxion for a minute. It was nice enough…
Fantastic review. I can totally see you were with the tightness/chunk of the pups. I love the V with the hockey stick. I’d go as far as to say it looks better.
Love your videos!!
Excellent. I played one, well balanced and a blast to play. The sound was on the bassy side, this then to get muddy on fast links.
The tight response also comes from the distance from the pickup to the bridge. On Gibsons that distance is smaller.
That doesn’t really make any difference. It’s a sophistry. The distance to the strings makes an obvious difference. Beyond that, it’s just how hot the pickup is.
God I love playing that song.
Damn I heard those riffs, now I need to listen to the whole Rust in Peace album. One of my favourites, right up there with And Justice For All..
This setup sounds so good. I'd riff all day with that tone
I feel like if anyone starts to play SoD main riff, you can’t not sing it too lol
"Hello me, meet the real me"
First time ever I dig a Gibson V ! The Explorer headstock just make sense
If Gibson is out of your price range, get a job. 👊🏻
awesome review Ola!! Stay Swedish dawg! Chugalug
Man it sounds amazing. I hope I will have it one day. Very nice demo
Good luck looking for a decently taken care of old Explorer.
