I used to have an 80's Gibson Flying V XPL which is a V with an Explorer neck. I regretfully sold it. That black Epiphone is probably as close as I may ever get to my old Gibson. Im gonna buy that black Epiphone.
The solo in Tornado of Souls, by Marty Friedman, is as good as it gets. Dave's ability to write super tight riffs is amazing. The spider chord is genius.
The black one looks so much better then the fishman guitar and it played great last time I tried it out . Tho I recommend everybody getting a Jackson king v for a more classic megadeth vibe. I guess he still is a shadow endorser for Jackson, all the iconic videos, live performances he holds a King V. So I got a King V 💪🤝🤘
Thát is indeed a lot of dosh - but to be honest: the current Epiphone quality is just astounding... I've had 2 Gibsons, and they couldn't match what Epiphone over the recent years has released. Plus prices everywhere have gone up by a *LOT* anyway, unfortunately. As much as I'd love having a Mustaine V, I'll wait a while to find a nice one on the secondhand market... (I already have an old Epi V anyway 🤘😎)
£1600 for an Epiphone! 😮 I just bought a 2008 Gibson V for £1300. They'd be better using the old cheap pickups on the Epis like they used to, and no hard case, keep the price down and people can upgrade if they like eventually.
@@Gearslayer92 Inflation is an interesting thing. I wonder if Gibson are also making record profits like many other corporations "suffering" from inflation. And as an Epiphone, I wonder how much of the price tag is benefitting the distributers, retailers and overseas factories.
Well, this is a signature model, so of course it will be more expensive, if you want a "cheap" Flying V from Epiphone there's the "Original Designer" in Ebony for $649 USD or the "Prophecy" for $899
@@C33Fernandez Since they already have both guitars on a huge discount of 300 and 500 bucks that could answer your question. Both sell at the 2023 summer sale for 1099 £ at Andertons (see the links under the video) and i believe they still make money with it. That should be the regular price for both in my opinion.
Ace episode & great to see Jamie more regularly on the channel. I think potentially Andertons are doing a bit of “care in the community” getting all these RUclipsrs out of their caves & into the light.
WHY do I keep replaying the first 15 seconds. I want to see more singing from the Captain, him and Mr Pete are pure comedy. I don't know why he's acting like a 80 year old Yorkshire man who's just come out of Weatherspoons after an afternoon session on Yorkshire Bitter, but it just makes me laugh over and over. I was having such a crappy day until I saw this.
Rockets and jets and fins and things were part of the "futuristic" popular culture of that time, which also gave us the "Stratocaster" name. Those design elements were all gone from cars within a few years, and now those cars look incredibly dated, and yet here we are, 65 years later, and the flying V still looks good, and the Stratocaster is as popular as ever.
the fishmans sound tighter but i think that's partly due to an active preamp in there. the duncan passives don't have a preamp in the way so to get in a similar ballpark perhaps a pedal in the way would get them a lot closer. it's not that the duncans aren't very good, for anyone watching!
I can't see paying that close to Gibson prices. I imagine the Epiphone is great if judged in a bubble. If they were unrelated to Gibson, maybe it wouldn't be as strange, but they're asking us to compare them. The idea is that you can get something of great quality for less, but... it's not that much less. I'd buy a Solar, Schecter, Jackson, Dean, Kramer, or even Gibson before paying this much for an Epiphone. They sort of worked themselves into a strange corner of the market. I like it when they make their own models or come in at much lower prices of Gibson models. Even if these guitars are great, it's hard to figure out who they're for/why to pick this vs. others. Great video though!
Oh, the Captain should have done a few lines more! :D Hilarious! Jolly good fun! :D (And should have tried to do the _other_ guitar part on the following tracks, that would be neat!)

Mustaine mentioned his early behavior and that he learned discipline thru martial arts. Being fired was a GREAT thing for music tho or there would be no Megadeth in the world. 2 iconic bands resulted instead of one.

Look at the jack on the one Capt. is playing- he's constantly bending it with his leg- that wouldn't last long. Not a good place to put the jack imo. They're both that way- maybe I'm just too paranoid.
Now I start to worry, Is metal just about chugging on this channel now? I miss Robs demos. Don't get me wrong, I like the fast, tight blending harmonies of the power chords, too, but I wanna hear some melodies and sustained tones, too
You definitely don't want ChappedAss if you're looking for melodic playing. His reviews were crap. The "Monkey Lord" just liked flinging feces like his namesake.
Have a look at that case again. See that metal guitarist's picture? He is STANDING. Like metal guitarists do. That's why neck dive is an issue for us. And those are Epiphones, so what about the fret job? You guys should just leave all things metal to someone else, PLUS you still don't know how to review a guitar.
£1500 for epiphones now. Taking the absolute piss, Gibson. Slash's original AFD Epiphone model with actual Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro 2s in it was released about 10 years ago and cost half that.
