It's been a while since I've seen a Gibson unboxed and someone who doesn't immediately know what every last fiber of the product is. Radio knobs and some sort of setup photo, heheh! Witchhats and a baby photo! Most refreshing, it was!~
I was surprised that he didn't comment on the sexy vanilla smell or maybe this one didn't have the scent for some reason ...
I just wish Dave would use his old Jacksons again, nothing has ever looked quite right since the king V. Megadeth with Gar and Chris with BC Rich or Nick and Marty with Jacksons are the quintessential visual pairings

I always loved those King V’s and Kelly’s they used to play back then. But, nowadays that would be a deal with Fender. Dave played Jackson guitars before the buyout.
The Kramer kind of looks like a king v
I really liked his Dean VMNTs.. never played one unfortunately. The Angel of Death one is still my dream signature guitar.

I guess those were Seymour Duncan Thrash Factor pickups, thats basically JB, 59 set of which specs were copied from the Jackson V used on Rust in Peace album. Dave also has an active SD livewire set, those are great also.
I've heard dave still keeps some of his 80's and 90's jackson king v's in secret. IMO the dave mustaine jackson were the best of his sig models.

While I know that gibson have made Flying V with explorer headstocks before, they should keep making them to day just like this Dave guitar, like a standard with an explorer headstock.
Judging by the input jack location, it seems that they are learning a few things about Vs from Dave.

@@rahulmenon4357 idk, i prefer it out front but i see how it can be annoying in some situations. Not a fan of mustaine, or signature guitars in general. Not sure what a mustaine LP would be? Floyd? Inlays? Pointy headstock? Nah, pass for me. Gibson doesnt strike me as the "home" of an 80s shredder at all.

I’ve always like the OG Gibson V. When seeing this Signature model with that headstock I didn’t like it but the more I see the more I like it. I want one now!

I love it's simplicity, just a nice piece of wood without a top. I love the look of lacquered Mahogany.
Since covid, it seems a lot of signature guitars don't have the signed COA's anymore because of travel restrictions I assume. Having owned some signature guitars, its one of my favorite things. So hopefully they bring those back

Greetings Ola..=D Congas on the new guitar, The photo in your case is known as a "Babyphoto" and it is indeed taken in the very last step of production, in setup, just before the guitar goes in its case.=) The knobs however are called Witchhat knobs, because of yeah, you know... a witches hat.. Also... Daves signature pickups are the SD Thrash Factor which replicate the classic JB/59 bridge/neck combo that gave him the tone on Megadeth’s 1990 album Rust In Peace... =) Ha`re gött!!
The "Baby photo" is to show you what condition the guitar left the factory in, so that if it reaches you looking like a Lego set you know it was the delivery service.

But they were in that gray Jackson that no one can replicate that wonderful tone that emanated from her.

I got my first Gibson today as well, a SG Special in Pelham Blue with P90's. I guess that makes us Gibson buddys now :)

I can't lie, I get a little jealous watching unboxing vids when I see all of the great guitars lol! I love my ole RG but man it is in desperate need of some upgrades (pick ups, trem, etc are all stock). I've never owned a Gibson either... what a sweet, clean looking guitar! Very nice Ola! 🤘

Ola, I can't believe that this is your very first Gibson! It's cool that you can be unbiased with guitar brands other than your own. I think it speaks to your humility that you can own an awesome guitar company, but you don't talk down other brands. Very cool man!

The new Dave Mustaine Gibson is the first time I seriously considered buying a Gibson too. Nothing personal against Gibson, but it isn't where I usually land when looking for a new guitar.
the old Flying V's seemed pretty cool. It would also be great if they could reissue the white explorer that James Hetfield had (and maybe still has), with no pickguard and black headstock

When I pressed the buy button to order the Gibson Exp Dave Mustaine from Thomann, the message came that the guitar was no longer available. I suspect 100% that Ola Englund snatched the Mustaine guitar from my fingers 😡😅

Nice! I prefer the Explorer Headstock with the 6-on-one-side tuners setup. So everything winds in the same direction.

I really don’t care for Gibson guitars , they seam to be lack lustered when it comes to sound & looks . I guess there the affordable guitar brand . I tend to lean towards the higher end guitars don’t know why , maybe it’s the sound Quality & the customization you can get from a high end guitar . The first guitar I ever owned was the Jackson King V Pro set up like Dave’s got it back when I was 16 , now 32 years later I have lots more guitars & they all sound different .
Saying that I'm jealous right now is an understatement

I have a DM 93 King v pro Jackson silver metal flake and a DM Dean 2015 trans blue with a highly figured maple cap. Both guitars play and sound great. Im waiting for the Kramer line to come out so it matches with the other two. Ill probably get the Gibson down the road a spell. The Gibson sure looks nice and sounds good. Maybe Ola can do a review on Kikos new Ibanez as well or the Single cut Gibson he is now using.

I'm not a huge flying V guy, but I think this is nice compromise of a classic V and a "modern," one. Or as modern as the 30+ year old design of the Jackson King V can be.

I can play just about any guitar while seated except that one. But I love them to death, eh I love all Gibsons , I have five so I’m over the moon one of my favorite artists designed a new one for us.
I had the guitar for a few days. Hated the neck and the pickups…sent it back.
