I think perhaps RUclips presses broadcasting on a regular schedule, and that's putting stress on lots of people I watch. Y'all have full time jobs, relationships and regular household chores in addition to your crafting. There are only 24 hours in a day, for heaven's sake. Broadcast as you can and we will be pleased to enjoy your content whatever and whenever it is. You are always a great pleasure to watch.

Another great podcast. Don't stress yourself over it. We enjoy watching whenever you have the time to podcast. Yes, on choosing a sweater for a man, yes on seeing all the sweaters you have knit in the past and what your thoughts are on them.
And, yes to anything else you mentioned.

Hi Jonathan, I love your unnamed raglan and look forward to knitting it once you finish the writing.
Congrats on the 13,000 viewers. I found you about Episode 2 and have enjoyed all of them. Right now I am working up Mowry’s Vellenor
and I reviewed your episode that included that garment, remembering you saying “It’s a lot of knitting!”, and it is!
As for suggestions on topics, as a garment knitter and not a sewer, I like what you are doing and enjoy the socks you present as well. I love hearing about brands I have not had experience working with, and your commentary in general. Not into sewing and weaving but do love stationary, pens, and journals and you haven’t focused on that area in a long time.
Keep up the good work. Your enthusiasm for our art form is contagious.

Hi Jonathan. Great to see you again. Honestly, if you need to go even further between podcasts, that’s quite alright. Personally, I’d love to see you give us a yarn tour or two, see your stash and maybe the tools/notions you use and a discussion on why you prefer them. I’m down for watching any other craft/hobby you may have. Maybe even alternate podcasts between them. Whatever you decide is fine with me.

Hi Jonathan. That buzzer startled me too. 😂 I used to have a ring tone that was very startling and my heart would race whenever it rang. Love all your makes. That blanket is lovely. I am doing The Woolly Thistles Sock sprint where you hopefully knit a pair of socks in 2 weeks. I'm knitting Joji Locatelli's Flying Bird Shorties so 🤞 I can finish! I'd love to see your other crafts if you feel like sharing. It's always fun to see what you're up to. Enjoy Barcelona 🇪🇸

Like others have already said, you shouldn’t feel the need to knit just to make podcasts. We enjoy your podcasts whatever they contain 😊
All those ideas sound great for future podcast episodes! I have seen other podcasters do themed episodes with things such as favourite yarns to knit with, favourite summer garments, and gift knit ideas.

Hi Jonathan, catching up on this and a couple other episodes later in the summer. I thoroughly enjoy every episode you create, and I do appreciate how much work you put in it. So yes, it was heart-rending to learn that you lost a whole episode due to sound problems. Please don't stress yourself about having to come up with content every three weeks or on any regular schedule, really. Your podcast is so worth waiting for. It'll be a joy to watch whatever and whenever :)
That buzzer though! It would freak me out as well, I'm sure.
    Happy making!

It is lovely to have kind and honest test knitters AND it is lovely to test knit for a kind and honest designer! You've done a fabulous job of setting the tone for the test knit.
Also, in answer to your question about additional content, I would LOVE to see some videos about picking patterns for men. I knit very much for myself and my kiddos, but I always feel at a loss on what would be best to knit for my husband and dad and brothers. Also, my oldest son is nine and I'm sure whatever information you have to share would help me in the near future. :)

Hi Jonathan, just discovered your podcasts thanks to Rebecca Clow. Have binged watched some back issues and loving your vibe. New ideas? As a fellow stationery nerd and weaving dabbler I would love something on those topics. Having said that I'd go with whatever brings you joy at that time as your genuine enthusiasm keeps it real and engaging. LOVE the utility shawl, already got yarn lined up. Thank you for all the work you've put into that.

Thank you for sharing your knitting and especially for sharing your time with us. I love your unnamed sweater pattern, and I might be inspired to knit one for my husband; TBD. How I wish that could attend your retreat! I am sure that it will be wonderful and enjoyable! The setting and gardens look lovely and will be so cosy during the cooler months. We are loosely planning a trip to the UK for next year, so if the timing works out, just maybe I can attend. I love your Sweet Shoppe blanket, and plan to make one soon for a friend’s baby soon that is due in October. As for your podcast, I will always be grateful for any and all episodes that you produce. Thank you. Cheers!

I’m sure others will agree, but I would so love to see other episodes from you. Since watching you, I’ve gotten a loom, sewed a little bit (made a shirt and a quilt), crocheted and prior to knitting I was (and still am) into planners and journaling/stationary with a special love for fountain pens. I think a lot of knitters do other hobbies and would love to see (and be enabled to do) all the things!

Hi Jonathan, You are a delight to watch no matter what you're talking about. Rating all your sweaters would be fun. Seeing some of your local yarn shops would be interesting. Even if you just stick to your 'normal' episodes, but just had them shorter that would fine - better than waiting longer without an episode from you. I just finished knitting the Aeria shawl by Linnea Ornstein. Was fun to knit. Current excitement: 4 of us from the Washington, DC area will be going to the Shetland Wool week at the end of September. I've never been to Scotland, much less any islands. Very exciting planning all that!

Hi Jonathan. Firstly, I LOVE your proposed jersey design - it looks so good on you. That raw wool has such a lovely colour. As others have said, please don't put yourself under pressure regarding podcasting scheduling. I would enjoy seeing your sewing for sure, maybe you could comment also on the ways sewing has helped your knitting, and vice versa? All your suggestions sound good to me. Your retreat sounds amazing - best wishes with it. I'm knitting on a pieced cabled cardigan using some handspun wool I bought on ebay. It's so beautiful, full of Lanolin. It was spun on The Isle of Muck in the early 90's. I keep thinking about the woman who spun it, all the work and care she put into making it.

Hi Jonathan! I just remembered I wanted to let you know that you might want to try knitting your socks at a finer gauge. This makes a tighter fabric that resists felting better than a looser fabric. And even if it does felt, it won't shrink as much so the fit won't change very much.

Hi Jonathan thanks for your podcasts which I love. Personally as a north of Englander I’d love to see a tour of a London yarn shop. The closest I usually get is ordering online from Loop and Tribe who are now in Scotland. I’d also like to see a tour of your stash and ideas for how you will use that going forward. I’m currently gift knitting - I tend to pick one or two quick and easy patterns that I enjoy knitting and then produce them for our very large family in varying colour ways. One year it was Shift Cowls all the way round!!! This year I’m making Tiny Tassels shawlettes - free pattern on the Loop Lounge blog and the Simply No. 1 scarf pattern by Mette Mehlsen. Both of these patterns are not only beautiful but they’re great stashbusters too 😊

Just knit and chat would also be nice. These could also be live things.
Also interview/chat with your knitter friends would be nice or co-op with other podcaster.
I watch/listen podcast just to have someone to knit with. That leads to that I watch/listen very different topics and knitting is just part of it. So for me change of topic is ok. Just remember to name different topics very clearly. Many people likes to watch just one type of content and it s just nice to know what that video is about.

As an artist I vote that you take your time and follow your heart and not put so much pressure on yourself.
I can’t wait to see this sweater pattern released!! I love how you are considering sizing. I am nonbinary and float in between straight & plus sizes. At the end of the day THE MOST helpful element to sizing is that you include a chart for the measurements. I want to know the sleeve length and the upper arm circumference! I want to know what the wrist measurement is because a lot of times I add decreases because the chest measurement I need doesn’t match the wrist measurement I want. I’m measuring the inseam between the arm pit to the hem and I want to know how wide the collar is. I can then make an educated choice on what size to make and adjust as needed. Does that make sense? 😅

  • @jimmydoesknitting
    @jimmydoesknitting Месяц назад

That cammi is 🔥. And designing is more time consuming than you'd think. Watch out for grading that raglan. Some designs have to use compound raglans for the larger sizes so the yoke depth is not too deep. In terms of content... don't force it. Show what's authentic and fun for you. Don't worry about your posting schedule. It will ebb and flow for sure.

  • @helentkalcic4417
    @helentkalcic4417 Месяц назад +2

I believe in being all inclusive (especiallly when it comes to sizing) but sometimes you just need to make a decision on what gender this pattern is for. If i could suggest you size it for the male body, as there are not many classic patterns available, and perhaps this is why Petiteknit does one pattern for a male body and another for the female of the same sweater, and this is totally fine! Good luck deciding!!

I show other things besides knitting in my own podcast too, some sewing , spinning, embroidery… I’ve also done an episode about all the shawls I’ve knit and one about all the sweaters I’ve knit for my daughter over the years. I like the length of your episodes just fine, but I’d love to watch all of the other potntial episodes as well! I also love stationary, planners and pens!
The weather in Sweden has been rubbish as well. :/ But I’m still stubbornly chugging away on my summer knits! Currently, I’m knitting on four (!) different ones, for some variety! One which only has a small sleeve left, one colorwork, one lace, and one stickinette. I like to be able to choose depending on what I do at the same time. I also have a test knit scarf by Made by Tollow (Jonatan Tollow, a fellow knitting Swede) coming up this week!

Great ideas below. I do miss your total knitting podcasts but hey things change. I like the ideas of chatting/interviewing other podcasters/knitters or yarn shop owners. This might be too much work. All good. Thanks

Another great episode! I'm currently knitting a Confidence Crop by Knitatude and test knitting the Camden Camisole for The Knit Purl Girl. Any content you put out would be entertaining, so I'm looking forward to seeing your channel evolve ❤

I only know how to crochet but I intend to learn how to knit, I can’t wait to be at a level where I can make that gorgeous sweater.

    Dear Jonathan,
I enjoy watching your podcast so much. I'd like to see your knitting of course, but sewing, yarn stash, recap about how your knitted items hold up and also other crafty things like pencils, writing journal works for me. I think that you are made to make podcasts. 😀I like how you speak about things: not too much not too little. When you said that a goal is not failed if it's not reached on time, it's failed only if you give up. It takes a special and positive mind to say and think like that.. and you do that over and over. ❤It's so inspiring to see what you have done, the camisole no 9 looks so good, and the socks. I need to make more socks.
I'd love to go at a knitting retreat some time but not this year maybe next year. It's just not to go when you're in the middle of life with three teenagers, a full time job with on call shifts at a hospital.
Today I casted on a sweater for my step daughter she's turning 18 this week. It's round yoked "Icelandic" inspired in teal, light blue, white and a beige yarn from viking called Alpacka Bris. It's a blown tube yarn with baby alpacka, merino and nylon. It's very soft. I never knitted with this kind of yarn. I prefer more woolly wools but she was so happy with the colours and the feeling of the yarn. I have some other projects on the needles too; a long term one the houndstooth jacket, a shawl from Stephen West the mingling daisies, two other sweaters and a sleeveless top. I hope you have a great trip to Barcelona.

Love the outtakes!😉I am currently making the Chiaroscuro cowl by Vincent Williams of Visuvio's Crafts using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes. First time using it and I'm surprisingly not disappointed. I'm actually planning to make it a bag. Not much opportunity to wear wool cowls in Los Angeles but I really like the design and thought it would make a cool bag. Plan to line it with fabric. (I, too, mix sewing and knitting!) Personally, I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever content you offer, Jonathan. That's probably no too helpful but all of the things you suggested sound interesting to me. Do what makes you happy!

Beautiful knits, as always. I love the idea of different episodes to mix things up a bit. Remember to take care of yourself and keep this craft enjoyable. Happy creating 💚🧶💚

I'm in gardening mode, not knitting in these summer temps in excess of 38C. Too hot to knit. Gorgeous new unnamed jumper and yes, the fit of the body is perfect. I hope it sells a lot of copies. I'll watch whether you sew or knit or talk about yoga - it's all good. I think the best podcasters include at least snippets of their lives - it feels more like a chat with a friend that way.

All your ideas to add to your podcasts sound amazing. I think we all want to see what your interests are beyond knitting. I would hate to think that you are pushing yourself to get knitting done for these podcasts when you have so many suggestions for other things to show us.
    The blanket is gorgeous!

Hello! First time for me on your channel thanks to your French tester Didier (Au Fil d'Horus). You're sweater is gorgious! I can really imagine my son (21 years old) in it. I think that we don't find enough exemples of beautiful knitwears for men nor sewing patterns that's why I'm very curious about what you sew.
Thank you for this video and I subscribe immediatly.

I'll watch whatever you decide- however, I do want to say that i enjoy watching the design process. I am in the process of a tedious project where I am attempting at least my first level of the Master Knitter program through TKGA (my fear of failure and also fear of success is a fun battle here) but i am doing it so that hopefully i can perfect what i do so that designing is a future thought- so i enjoy watching how different designers go about this process!

Hi, love your podcasts so would watch whatever you choose to include. Personally I am looking for interesting gift knits, I have a big family and like to gift something made with Love that suits each individual.
I'm currently working on Stephen Seats surprise sock along, a crochet newsletter birthday tiffany trying to include a url too as I have lots to choose from - some going back 30 years or so!
    Have a great holiday. 🌅

Hi Jonathan. Fabulous vlog or whatever it is called. I would be delighted with any post but have to say the most important thing is for you to not put pressure on yourself. You are right, life does happen, and it would be awful if you felt doing any extra vlogs just mounts pressure on you. Enjoy your jolly and see you whenever.🧶🧶

Jonathan feel free to add variety to your podcasts. I don’t think podcasts have to be long some of the best that I watch are 30ish minutes, it’s quality not quantity and frequency is better over length. What’s most important is that you enjoy your crafting, it should be relaxing not stressful.

I love watching all those things from other folks on youtube/social media so I'd watch all that 😂 not sure that helps? (Laughing at myself here)
Oh! I do want to know more about men's knitwear. I have all boys, I partnered with a man and only have one niece out of all the cousins. I'm totally surrounded by boys ❤
I'm not sure if you have a Google doc or newsletter for test Knits but I'd love to test that sweater you made.
