What a lovely episode today Katie! You covered all my favourite things in life! Beautiful countryside and the natural world, knitting spinning, beach combing and your dearly loved dog! Just perfect! I also went to Wonderwool and enjoyed every minute. Your batts are gorgeous and have perfect names. I’m sure dear Jack is a Jack Russell cross as he’s exactly like one of mine (called Alfie) and also much loved and thoroughly spoiled so give him an extra hug from me x
Yay! A new Green Bean episode! Lovely to see you, Katie. Your names for your wool batts are delightful! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on what makes knitting success. There's so much emphasis online and in society on getting finished objects. For me, the best thing is the figuring it out, the process, if I can enjoy that and find satisfaction there, it doesn't matter how long it takes.
Katie, I love the color of your glowing moss jumper. And the headband idea is lovely. You’re thought process of successful knitting was so encouraging. I’ve e enjoyed watching your hiking vlogs. You’re taking me on a journey to a part of the world I’ll never visit except by RUclipsrs like yourself. The display board is so I interesting and pretty. I hope you sold lots of your work! Have a lovely day!
Jack is the best! You are such a gentle and caring creator, and I enjoy watching your podcast. While watching this episode, I have been untangling and winding by hand the most cantankerous skein of merino fingering wool. You helped me relax through this tangled mess that requires winding by hand. No ball winder will be used again on this skein! I don't own a nostepinne and am simply channeling Elizabeth Zimmermann's method. All the best to you and Jack!
Awe, that was a beautiful podcast Katie. When you drew the poles from the beach, the ones with the rocks stuffed in between, I thought that the rocks looked just like the heads of three sheep, lol. That would be so fun, if you would draw faces on them, just to see, what it looks like. 🙂 I love your self drafted sweatshirt style jumpers a lot. Will you make them into a pattern? Loved the eco printed silk shirt too. You are right, they are your colours and style. I am obsessed with your glasses. The green frame is so cool. Prescious Jack. He is absolutely adorable and I hope he has many years left on this earth. I think he is so much loved, that it is like a fountain of youth to him. 🙂 Huggs from Fairy Tale Cottage, Schurwald Forest, Germany. 🍄🌲🌲🌲🐌🐞🪲🐜🐝🐛🦋🦎🌲🌲🌲🍄
Katie, I love the shirt you are wearing. The green carpet story was relatable; we had similar green carpet in my house while growing up. By bedroom had shades of blue shag carpet! Love those ‘70’s🤣 My adult house has hardwood floors with a few tiled floored rooms. My sewing and knitting has slowed. The mitered square blanket is ridding my space of leftover sock yarns slowly. I’m almost 1/2 way through the project. I’ve had to step back from sock knitting for awhile. I need to do sweaters (jumpers, cardigans) again; something on a larger needle. My sewing has ventured into drafting my own dresses; not being too successful yet. It’s all about the process and learning.
The walk looks great. So glad someone else is also not frantic production knitting. The older I get the fewer clothes I want and treasure my old ones for timelessness. Still love spinning but need to use the piles I spun in COVID anxiety. Hope the show goes well
Oh Lordy, those fibers you put through the drum carder were more beautiful than any treasure found under the sea. Not sure if it was the light or what but each color worked to create an extraordinary palette. Not sure i would have been able to do anything other than just hang it on the wall as is! But I know it will spin up beautifully. Your creations are always amazing and your color choices always make my heart sing. ❤
I love your drawings and idea of giving each pebble its own “background place”. May I suggest giving these pictures some colours like “your memory of colour or mood” in that scenery. I am not an artist, but an art admirer, and I really appreciate when artist give their own interpretation of the landscape.
What a beautiful episode. A big hug to Jack; we had our rescue Carly from 2 years old until 16+.....her later years were so, so special. You will really enjoy spinning those batts (they're lovely), I've gotten to love spinning batts more than any type of prepared fiber.
I am a returning viewer - in fact this is the first episode I’ve watched since you moved from Devon! I just needed some quality chatter to infuse a knitting project that has a time constraint and so could become very dull without a happy distraction. You fit the bill very well and I loved everything about this episode. I was particularly happy to see how well Jack is doing as I always loved to see his rambles with you over Dartmoor. Bless you for all the work you put into your podcast and I will certainly be looking out for the next episode.
Hi, Katie. I like the head band… the colours are lovely. I also like the drawing of the beach stones. As always, Jack is adorable❤️ The pinkish over-sized sweater looks great on you. I see you later.
This was such a lovely episode! I was reminiscing yesterday with a friend of our hike to Pen Y Fan and seeing more of South Wales through your videos makes me want to go back and see more every day! The different steps of wool processing are so fascinating to me and you always manage to record those with such obvious care, your podcast always makes me want to slow down and take the time to enjoy various artistic processes! I've desperately been missing doing some form of craft for a while now, but I am getting the itch more and more thanks to you and my friends! I also wanted to mention that I was recommended your channel through my best friend and I started to go through your videos one by one last month (I am lucky I have so many more to go through still!). They have been such a great help for me mentally, as I've been through a period of heavy stress, and I am very grateful to you for sharing such a caring, mindful place on the internet. Your podcasts are filled with wonder for many things, and feel like a deep breath and a hug. I wish you, your partner and Jack all the best!
Hi Katie, always a pleasure to watch your channel. Did you know that the Wesh name for cotton grass is plu’r gweunydd ? the rough translation is “spinners feather”.
What a win to try a whole new style of sweater and like it so much you rarely took it off. The pattern would be great in handspun should someday you need a third one. Thanks for sharing.
How strange, I have been troubled about feeling pressure to keep doing new projects and sensing myself pushing for a finish all the time. Thank you for your wisdom, it reminds me that it is the calm that comes from working gently that is important to me. Lovely video and your headband is gorgeous!
Love your IRL knitwear and AC knitwear outfit! 🍒 Understanding the ascetic you share, a mossy island sounds awesome! I was sad when I realized it didn’t reproduce but I put a mossy corner cafe with a view in mine. ❤️ Thank you for sharing!
I have watched you on and off since you have started your podcasts. I have always enjoyed all of the ones I have watched. Now this one is special to me I see that you have Avery important sign behind you about trans thank you
I just find you on RUclips.. wow a great video!! Love the fibre colour and the jumper your knitting.. I live in South Africa..Little country village outside Johannesburg..and have recently done a course about spinning... From alpaca and angora wool...from friends around me who keep them. Great video, thank you. Glad I find you.😊
Katie, I have a little advice on processing fleece with your drum carder. You need to tease open the locks apart before you add them to the carder, putting less through the carder at a time is best. Try that the next time. I would think there would be videos on RUclips showing this process. If you can't find any let me know and I will make one.
Such a lovely podcast as always. I wonder if the drawings inspired by your hike could be in black & white if the beauty is in the form and structure, and in colour if you saw different shades of colour in the rocks and branches which inspired you. Some of each? I am not an artist but I enjoy photography and some photos just call out for black and white and others for beautiful colour. Love from British Columbia.
Katie, lovely podcast! Thank you. Love your inspiration; love seeing the beautiful landscape; and Jack brings me such joy! Could I ask what kind of spinner you use? the colors in the batch are so wonderful, can't wait to see what you make with them.
Apologies if you say in the video which one it is, I was nipping in and out of the kitchen getting things ready for my tea! But which drum carder do you have? Thanks 😊
That's a beautiful headband!!!!wonderful colors!!
Love, love this, especially the walking, the pebbles, the batts and your new shirt.
I love the headband - I find them far more versatile when hiking, as my head "breathes". Love seeing your dog, too!
The headband is absolutely beautiful and perfect 😍

Hello Katie and Jack from the USA. I so love your walks, drawings and crafts
Bonjour Katie, j'aime beaucoup votre vidéo, vos ouvrages , pensées et paysage. Ravie de vous revoir.😊🖐️🌹

I LOVED the wizard batting you carded! Thank you for sharing.
The headband looks great on you❤❤❤

Katie it's so lovely to see you again. That fabric is awesome. The mountains, water, beaches so amazing, I love it.❤😊
A wonderful video. Thank you.

You have brightened my day. Thank you so much x
thanks Katie for this wonderful episode! It seems like you are settling into your new home more and more, I'm so happy for you :)
Delightful podcast! Thank you!
Wonderful headband!
Yes totally agree that one does not always have to be doing. Take time, reflect and be still. It's a balance.
Katie! You and Jack make me and Dolly (my Chiweenie) very happy.
What a win to try a whole new style of sweater and like it so much you rarely took it off. The pattern would be great in handspun should someday you need a third one. Thanks for sharing.
Pollock Weir ❤ hope you had a swim 💙
Really enjoy your podcasts--thank you!

Try feeding your lock straight on to the back roller…I have found not going through the licker makes a better blend.

Your wool is going to be very rustic compared to the prepared ones,
WHat happened to the hiking series?
