Oh Katie… how about knitting back the frogging you have done and spinning a strong tea colored yarn for the icord and collar? Just sending you my thoughts 😊

This is what I say too... Don't frog the entire back, just get a contrasting color for the I cord and collar.

Just loved seeing you again and listening to your life stories. I bought an espinner yay yay yaya, and I'm building up my spindle spinning so I get to feel what spinning should be. Ah, first world worries =deciding whether there would be enough room in the knitting journal for the waistcoat!!!! goodness, if only life was so simple hehehehehehe! thanks again for checking in. see you next time, and Jack.

this was so positive and creative - I love how you managed to create such a lovely journal and instead of dwelling on the negative aspects of the Hobbit vest - you found a creative solution! Great to see you and Jack back in your old stomping grounds, too!

Thank you for such a wonderful episode. I bought and gifted some of your washitapes and a mushroom picture (which I kept and am now looking for the right frame): all products were great. The mushroom print glows. I am currently spindle spinning a brushed tops from John Arbon in a glorious pink melting pot of colours: I may hold it with a mohair and knit it into socks of perhaps a hat, or......:) I am a beginner spinner and have not yet knitted with any of my spun creations.

Thank you for sharing your makes. Very happy for you that you have your knitting mojo back. It was lovely to see your old knitting journal and new and glad that you will continue and that you won,t let the blip in the misplacing of your journal stop you. My attempts at journaling have always fallen flat so you have given me inspiration to pick up where I left off and just continue 🙂

I truly enjoy your partners photography and framing. The lichen intrigues me, I wanted to touch that moss. Your journal is gorgeous . I particularly appreciate your sensibility on yarn chicken with handspun. All the yarns in most knitting podcasts are pricey and require shipping costs beyond what I can afford. Because I want to be quite green and indulged, I found alpaca farms willing to sell a whole raw fleece for $25 and discovered washing, hackling and spinning are more meditative than knitting... right up to needing to knit 4 more inches. It has been a learning curve. sigh. When starting from fleece on any animal , buy more than you think you will need, mix fleeces together even if from same animal on different years as colors will vary and spin way more than you think you need so you might have a consistent end product. What I make now will last me the rest of my life so it must give me insane joy that lasts.

I love your knitting note book ! It's very inspiring. I could do one my self. It would be very enjoyable to create and go back to it, even just to look at the beautiful drawings ! When I make notes, it's more like scribbles all over the place 😅 and it makes it harder to read all the informations I need... Thank you for the inspiration Katie !🤩

Love your podcast, I have watched them all and find them really inspiring. Have you checked out world of wool for your matching fibre blend for your waistcoat. They do a ‘design your own ‘ and they blend the fibres for you. Not sure if they have the exact ones you need but might be worth checking it out

You are creating some lovely, lovely projects! In recent years I’ve embraced slow making as a way to put beauty in every day activities. Things like weaving kitchen towels and knitting linen dish cloths. You’ve inspired me to upgrade my knitting journal with some mindful note taking instead of all my illegible scribbles 😂. I appreciate your videos so much!

Yes I was thinking of a dark brown either natural or maybe with some green speckles. You could always spin it thinner and then hold it two ply to replicate the thickness.

As always Katie, your knits are gorgeous! I think your hooded jumper will be going in my favourites on Ravelry. I like your problem solving with your handknits and think the solution for a dark green back for your waistcoat is a great design feature, rather than a make do! The stitch pattern you came up with for your Barn Owl yarn is lovely and I agree the yarn will give such good stitch definition to the project..... can't wait to see more of this garment in the future! ❤

Thank you Katie, both your spun yarns are a beautiful colour and look as if they’ll make cosy knits. Dartmoor was looking lovely. Your knitting journal prompted me to think about how I might record my projects as I sometimes start to knit a second version and I have no idea what needles I used or the yarn or the adaptations I made,

Would you consider using a darker color to do the I-cord binding? It would be dramatic and you could preserve the reverse stockinet back that shows the hand spun colors so well.
I have done several recent projects using an integral I-cord just to save finishing and I love it.
It was lovely to see you striding Dartmoor again with Jack, feeling the fresh air and knowing the days are lengthening and the light is returning. So glad your knitting "mojo" is back.

Katie, I love your hoodie garment! I’m sorry your waistcoat was not successful. Your are right, we can frog… I’ve done this so many times trying to learn colorwork. I was frogging a row while you were talking about your waistcoat. Trying to tell myself that one stitch off wouldn’t make a difference but it does… snowflake looked a bit strange😕
Jack loves his walks; keeps him in good shape🥰 thank you for all the beautiful walks, I love tagging along.

Hi Katie. In a commonplace book an index is used. As life is not continuous in duration, shape, size, occurance, etc. an index returns, order, control AND artistic structure. Would that help in your knitting journal?

Silk on the drum carder-you can cut silk to change the length so it gives you fewer headaches on the carder. I’d bet that’s what the original fiber supplier did.

You could try to find wool in a similar thickness and darker green in a shop to make the icord and collar out of it. That would be faster than spinning more yarn. But then it is obviously not completetly " Me Made".

I have to say, I was very apprehensive when I saw the title of this video, but luckily no real snakes have appeared... Couldn't you do the i-cord edging in a different colour? I think it would look great in a darker green. I knitted my first handspun cardigan this autumn, and I have to say, I ended up doing a lot of tricksing and mixing, and I still ended up with very short sleeves...
