    Bouldering as a discipline in the States goes back to John Gill, PhD back in the 50’s. During the 80’s we see our first Boulder Comps & John “Vermin” Sherman V rating system was developed at Hueco Tanks & started being applied nationally

    Amazing to think John gill was bouldering several grades harder than stone's best, before they were born.

    Someone really oughta make a documentary about the history of the Buttermilk...its history is likely even more interesting than this and also stretches back to the early days and includes lots of now-famous names...and one thing's for sure: it is a lot more beautiful and always seems to photograph well..

      @@Somberless huh? yeah i need to go back to Bishop for another couple of months, that's for sure....that's about as chill as it gets, directly opposed to the smog, traffic, graffitti, crowds, posers, tweakers, etc. of northern L.A...
