Anything that hasn’t been announced now isn’t going to happen by Summer 2025. They’re going to be far behind.
They’ve played all their cards since Wizarding World opened with marginal success. New Fantasyland, Frozen/New Soarin/Remy/Cosmic Rewind/more festivals, Toy Story Land/Galaxy’s Edge/Mickey & Minnie, Pandora, new nighttime shows at each park.
I’m not sure what they could do at this point to keep up. They’ve chosen to do essentially nothing because people will keep going to WDW even if they reduce their investment in new attractions.

    • @baronvonlimbourgh1716
      @baronvonlimbourgh1716 Год назад +33

@@wt7553 they will keep comming until they don't. Disney captured people with nostalgia in the past, that is mostly what is feeding the endless popularity no matter what disney does at the moment.
However, disney has barely been nesting itself in new peoples minds for comming up 25 years now. That is why "disney fans" are all almost exlusivly middle aged nowdays. That generation is going to fizzle out soon and there is hardly a new generation of dedicated fans to replace them. And even within the random younger public disney no longer holds that nostalgic attraction they had over previous generations. And these people will not be so accepting of their bs because they simply are no longer emotionally invested and will be far more open to concider alternative options to a disney vacation.
In the past there have been a lot of people who never went anywhere else other then disney. That is not going to last.
Disney is much more vulnrable then people think. Their main cash cows are now reaching their financial peaks, that is why disney is doing so well right now. But they never invested in what should replace them when the current crop ultimatly grows to old and eventually dies off.
This cliff is comming, and they now it. That is why they no longer dare to expand to much, not being sure they can still fill the capacity a decade from now.
Right about the time the currently hot ip's they are using will be over their peak and inevitably will become old and stale.
Disney made some major strategic f ups that is making their future insecure and difficult.

For example, Rise of the resistance is a remarkable ride, however guests are FORCE fed characters from Disney's less than popular star wars IP trilogy. When in hindsight, replacing those characters with the original trilogy characters, and suddenly you have a timeless ride that appeals to everyone. And as for smugglers run, I'm sorry but it's very narrow-minded to create another motion based simulator ride based on the same IP on the other side of a wall of another timeless attraction; star tours.

I worked there for 18 years and several things I witnessed would not have been tolerated back then. Don’t know if they are just desperate for help or what, but something needs to change. Also, we all know that any sort of building/castle whatever is going to be some of kind of forced perspective thing like Beast's Castle in Fantasyland, and nothing cool like Beast's Castle in Tokyo Disneyland.

I have a feeling that not as many people will travel in 2023 as in 2022. It seems like WDW is wanting to decrease its attendance in its parks instead of increasing attractions to accommodate more people. It doesn’t appear that they want to expand the parks which is disappointing because in order to validate spending an exorbitant amount of money, it would be helpful to have some new attractions for those of us who have gone numerous times over the years. Maybe they believe that making Disney Plus a priority will help with building brand recognition and popularity with the youth of today and therefore keep their brand sought after in the future. I believe they could do so much more in the parks if they wanted too. I mean look how amazing animal kingdom is. If they believe focusing on Disney Plus and IP in the parks is vital for their future, then they need to pay attention to what the youth responds. In reverse order 1) An Encanto attraction is a no brainer but i think its more suited for Epcot. 2) Frozen was so undeniably popular they really should have representation in the Magic Kingdom. 3) me and my 22 year old daughter would love to see Repunzel represented in MK. 4) A villains or marvel based fifth park would be amazing and would have a multigenerational appeal.

Tell us you're worried about Epic Universe without saying it. Not to mention, over half of the projects announced at the 2019 D23 have been CANCELLED. If you can't even deliver a spaceship earth update, don't even toy with the possibility of land expansion. I think they would put an entirely new land back there like they did with Galaxy's Edge at DLR, not make it part of Frontierland. Unlike some of the other WDW parks, MK actually has dedicated expansion plots. Whenever they get around to building the Disneyland Forward expansion in Anaheim, they'll probably built a clone at MK in that Frontierland expansion space, a la Galaxy's Edge. Coco, Encanto, and Luca could be grouped together into their own land -- that's a better mix than Moana with Zootopia!! So they tore down the AK Dinoland carnival stuff and STILL don't have a concrete plan for what they're going to put there?? This whole presentation made Disney look woefully unprepared. They definitely know that the 50th shows weren't well received, but they're pretending they were. They spent way too much time trying to hype up Tiana's Bayou Adventure which seems suspicious. The 'blue sky' bit at the end was very bizarre and extremely confusing. I know everything sadly has to be IP these days, but this all seems overboard, and I agree with you, most of the blue sky stuff will never come to be.

If Disney wants to deal with their debt acquired from Fox, make more room for more guests at the parks in the parks and with actual themed resorts. Hold on to loyal customers. I predict the pent up demand will come near to a screeching halt for Disney very soon.

You did not disappoint as per usual. Thank you for calling it like it is!
This whole thing felt like such a tease (more than usual). Maybe they don't want us to cxl our APs ("MKs", whatever) so they try to keep us interested with "what ifs". Personally for me this was going to help me decide to renew my Dland AP, but I wasn't convinced. I only wish our Universal in CA was bigger so it would fill the void of not having the D AP 😅... decisions, decisions!

So they remove the scary forest scene in Snow White which wasn’t that scary and now they are going to make a park based off the villains. I don’t dislike the idea. I dislike the fact that Disney doesn’t really know what it wants. Some of the best and most reliable rides in the park are the old school track rides in the park with beautiful painted art and old school black light effects. Instead of making one 50 or 100 million dollar ride, how about twenty $5 million track rides that blend mostly old fashioned art with a few modern effects. I rather wait 20-30 minutes for some pleasing 3 minute rides than 4 hours to ride a single supposedly epic ride. Disney is thinking way too far out of the box and failing 9 out of 10 times. Go back to your roots before it’s too late. Universal is way out-Disneying Disney these days.

They aren't building anything. They are just pandering to what they read on social media and forums because they don't have anything better to talk about.
It will create some buzz for a couple of days and then will never be spoken about again.

That's an excellent observation. The Snow White's Scary Adventure was one of my favorite "C-class" rides! Now it's just a photo-op with two princesses. Pitiful. What would a Disney Villains park be: The Happy Not-So-Scary Villains Village?! Would the end of every ride be the villain now redeemed and blowing kisses to the guests? We can't frighten the 3-year-olds!

I've heard a lot of Disney's problems stem from the fact that many of the executives don't treat this as their last job but only a stepping stone to their next job… therefore anything that takes more than a couple years to complete will not be their problem but will be their replacements problem

Um, so anything positive for WDW was better than the "nothing-burger" I was expecting, but to be CLEAR, the USA parks need just as much time and investment, if not more, than the international counterparts, and they shouldn't keep funneling parks' budget money into the digital black hole of Disney Plus.
We get it, digital goods don't require as much physical development and maintenance as physical attractions, but make it is own arm of the company with its own budget and let it do it on its own, without being propped up by the parks.
The parks need constant attention. Even if there's nothing "new," things have to be refurbed, fixed, and replaced all the time, otherwise we get more breakdowns and lackluster performances when features are just ignored when they stop working.
My pass expires soon, and I'm seriously considering letting it go, and picking up a Universal pass when they get the new stuff opened.

Great job Brayden! As always very factual and well thought out. Disney leadership should be seriously ashamed of themselves. Tron’s original opening date was scheduled for 2019... As a passholder for over 30 years I keep holding out hope things will turn around. But Universal is smart and positioning themselves to scoop up everyone Disney is pricing out and everyone Disney is disappointing. My Universal annual passes are going to be getting a lot more use.

We got enough of a solid date for Tron for my plans. I'm going in January, and I was convinced I'd get to ride Tron given the testing that's going on. That's out the window now. So really all I got out of this was disappointment. I feel like everything else is completely fiction at this point.

I'm sorry to hear that Jason. At this point, I would give up on Disney and look elsewhere for fun. I ditched the Mouse in 2019 when they priced me right out the window. I tried booking a 3 day vacation and the sticker shock was so bad that i cancelled everything. I picked up the phone and called their rival Universal. Spent four days there and tried to see as much as I could. And it WAS fun. And the price was nowhere near what Disney was demanding. I've pushed Disney out of my mind for good. They will never see me set foot in their parks again. I really really hope Epic Universe opens on time and without very many hiccups. If it does, Disney is finished. But then, I don't feel sorry for them. They and their hilarious mismanagers will never learn....
