      I think they boxed themselves in with Toy Story land. If you look at satellite images, they can only expand north, and that would require them to demolish a parking garage and presumably build it again elsewhere. I doubt they will ever expand Toy Story land as a result. HS expansions would probably come in the form of more Star Wars (I am not sure about that these days) replacing part of the parking lot or a new land replacing and expanding behind Animation Courtyard/Launch Bay. That park is the most constrained of all of them.

    What makes Frontierland so special is the kinetic energy that comes from the River, Liberty Belle, Big Thunder, and Splash. The land feels *alive*. It would be nice if Disney gave us proper lands with multiple rides for the theme; instead of these IP Micro Lands with one or two attractions. The parks are losing their identity and themes. Just IPs shoehorned into anywhere they can.

    • @mikepeter9479

      1000% agree the theming and identity of the parks is getting lost more and more every year. Indiana Jones and Encanto have nothing to do with the animal kingdom and the Desert area is just a lazy excuse to shove more IP around Big Thunder. I would much rather have a new original attraction along the lines of Soarin or Everest then another ride based on IP. Disney is losing the magic.

      Unfortunately, icons are relative to the generation being targeted. Even though my generation is the one with the most money to spend at the parks and have raised their kids there, they are targeting pleasing my kids,which are Gen z. A frontierland has zero relevance to them. Tom Sawyer who? They will keep coming for the IP they grew up with, which is Monsters, Cars, Toy Story, etc. Brayden is a rare Gen Z'r appreciating the imagineering of yesteryear. And I really have loved so many of their additions from the last couple of decades even though I didn't grow up with them. But I agree with many in the comments that don't want it to look like an unthoughtful hodgepodge. Walt created variety, but there was order and theming with a stream of continuity...

      @@ethanshackleton I'm afraid neither are likely possible. A tunnel in Florida is pretty much impossible without major engineering efforts and it would likely need to go down 3-4 stories in height, which isn't practical for a ramp. A bridge is easier but still has issues with height due to the height of the boat and the smoke.
      The best bet would probably be to build a bridge and disguise it as a mountain, but I'm not sure how much space it would end up occupying.

      @@almendraman I get the impression that Disney is relaxing any guidelines they had for those in the parks. Their focus seems to be developing lands that combine IPs in a general thematic setting or look and feel. The key objective is to get as many recognizable IPs into the parks. Like Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't really make sense at EPCOT, but it's over by the other Space stuff, so they put it in. The new villains section and Dinoland retheme will also be similar collages of IPs with a vague theme/setting.

  • @tannerstubbe

    This is horrible in so many ways. For starters, Rivers of America makes that area of the park so peaceful and adds so much kinetic energy and placemaking with the Liberty Belle sailing around it. If they get rid of Rivers Of America, MK will instantly become the ugliest castle park in the world. They have so much land surrounding MK. If they cant figure out a way to spare RoA and Tom Sawer Island, they're just wildly and inexcusably incompetent.
    Another thing, I am so sick of them doing is copy/pasting rides between the domestic parks. It massively deters interest for WDW guests to visit DL and vice versa.
    I love the fact that they are finally going forward with some meaningful expansion, but not at the cost of losing the nature, beauty and relaxation that Rivers of America and Tom Sawyers Island brings to an otherwise hectic and jam-packed park.

      They lazy and cheap they have so much land and could almost double the size of the park but they need to drain and grade areas to make safe for construction and won't want to pay. Villains land should be constructed well north west of the current park boundary and have space for multiple e ticket attractions with massive centre piece that can be seen from park entrance and contrasts against Cinderella castle. There is so much land there. If I was them I would do a much larger version of Eftellings fairytale forest to the north of big thunder and fantasy land with a few small fairytale rides within the forest. Have the forest touching Fantasyland start out magical and have a beauty and beast dark ride thinking similar quality and ride system to Symbolica rather than low quality cheap thing like under the seas, have sparse 🌵 trees next to big thunder and transition to tropical then winter trees. Have music throughout the forest and as travel deeper into forest the music and attractions become darker until you reach cave that conceals you walking under the park staff road with really sinister music and voices of villains, you come out of the cave into massive villain land. That gives numerous walk through attractions/ things to see in the forest a world class beauty and beast dark ride expansion to Fantasyland and a massive villains land with enough state of the art highly themed attractions so it could almost stand as a park in own right. There is so much potential there but we won't see anything like it as we know they will just add the cheapest option with IP that doesn't fit in

    This is awful. Why do they keep matching what other parks have now? It reduces the incentive to travel to one or the other. The entire retheme of splash to Tianas is ruining the entire flow of the park. An easier retheme idea would have been Pocahontas or even Bambi. But now the entire park needs to change all due to one ride.

    Very sad to see their desire to eliminate Frontier Land. Walt loved American history and that's such a recognizable and interesting part of it. That area was great and so well-themed.
    I do love the villains idea. I'm hoping it's fully fleshed out, though, and doesn't feel as lifeless as Galaxy's Edge.
    Agree on keeping the water feature. Love the openness and visual break it provides from the congestion of the park. Would be cool if they kept it open and maybe re themed as a New Orleans riverboat to coincide with Tiana's and the New Orleans area.

For some older people with mobility problems it is one of a few attractions they can experience without needing to transfer, and its such a lovely, leisurely way to take a rest for a short while. I also agree with you that having the water remain in the park would be very important.
    Having said that, I am excited for the Villains area. I would love to see some of the villains interacting with each other in one of the attractions - that could be a lot of fun.

A new western or desert based story would fit in well in the so called desert area and give Disney the option of creating something total new that would fit in theming wise. Also how about an another possible back entrance to the park with a new hotels and parking structures ala Epcot . Imagine the premiums Disney could charge of that.

  • @SliceOfRandom
    @SliceOfRandom 26 дней назад +2

    Villains needs an E-ticket that showcases multiple properties. Think about it. If the goal is to detract from Epic Universe, which has a dark monsters ride showcasing nearly all of their classic monsters, then Disney would need to follow suit with a show stopping attraction that gives fans a taste of all of their favorite big bads. I'd personally like a boat concept (using the Shanghai Pirates ride system) that starts guests off on the river styx and entering Hades, which can connect thematically to any Villain in their line up by riding through their biomes. Imagine a perilous shifting set of rapids tumbling down Scar's gorge while Hyenas cackle, guests ducking spells cast from Maleficent as she transforms into a dragon before their very eyes, Jafar's snake form curling around a tunnel as he attempts to constrict and hypnotize his victims, and it's all in a desperate bid to prove 'who is the biggest baddie? ' 😂

Then that seperates the different areas but uses one thing twice. I think the effect would be gorgeous on one side and menacing on the others side.
    My daughter also thought they need to keep the river because they can use that water front for Ursela and she really wants a water ride with Yzma & Kronk's water-coaster as it's theme. I greatly appreciate your passion and excitement for WDW, while still being honest when things aren’t on par with Walt’s original aspirations.
    It’s exciting to see new lands and attractions on the horizon again, but wondering if you’ve heard anything on areas of the resort that are in rough shape getting some much needed attention/investment as well?
    One in particular is the Transportation and Ticket Center, it’s rundown and outdated, with so many issues:
    •Abandoned gift shop and its signage still present after all these years.
    •Blacked out windows on abandoned spaces.
    •Mismatched theming/colors that are all over the place.
    •Railings broken or held together with tape, no joke!
    •Outdated fluorescent lighting filled with mold, bugs, water and dirt. With a significant number not working and/or starting to fall off.
    •Outdated buildings that have zero theming related to the Magic Kingdom.
    Just a few thoughts on what should be a GRAND entryway as we head into the Magic Kingdom.

    Not liking the sound of this to be honest. Don’t know why they are closing stuff when trying to improve capacity. Cars land a much better fit for Hollywood studios or not at all and keep it Disneyland exclusive and villains is a good enough concept for
    The eventual 5th gate..

  • @Valiantes_
    @Valiantes_ 24 дня назад +2

    They got tons of available land, leave magic kingdom as much as it's original self for vintage reasons and instead they should build a 5th gate. For Magic Kingdom they should just probably add one more attractive behind thunder that doesn't require destroying Frontierland.

  • @BellePullman
    @BellePullman 25 дней назад +1

    First thing this area absolutely needs - train station! Magic Kingdom is already a big park, guests walk many miles, and this expansion is putting a few extra miles on the day. While it definitely needs pedestrian access, its primary access needs to be transport. One option would be a shorter river, a second boat dock, and bridges over the access waterway to preserve that. They can't get rid of the waterway altogether, that would completely gut the park! And I'm not sure it would even be technically possible without a whole lot of water management headaches.
    I'm ok with the idea of effectively moving Frontierland to the other side of Big Thunder, but it absolutely needs to be tied to a land! And I'm ok with IP attractions, I'm not ok with IP mini-lands. It looks like Animal Kingdom is coming out better balanced with the concept of "Tropical Americas" land, and IPs that suit it. I'm sure imagineering is coming up with an actual name?
    But importing Radiator Springs Racers? so many problems. Firstly, Test Track, it's so clearly the same base, guests won't bother with the queues - certainly won't pay - for both. Second, Radiator Springs is absolutely awesome but it needs the grounding of Cars Land, the IP is such a weird concept that those characters totally don't interact with the real world. Thirdly, it works so well in DCA where you're suspending your disbelief but you know you're limited within a city block, you excuse its slightly claustrophobic lack of sightlines. This helps with isolating the weirdness of the IP, but put that in Magic Kingdom and you'll really amplify the claustrophobic feeling, especially next to Big Thunder which doesn't try to hide the neighbouring biomes! Fourth, Big Thunder and Radiator Springs hit many of the same notes - speed, thrill, a level of interacting with other vehicles. The new area definitely needs E ticket attractions, but it's kinda the same problem as putting Tron next to Space Mountain, they fight rather than compliment each other. Something more complimentary would be a good, high tech dark ride (yes I know, the first half of Radiator Springs Racers...) but it needs an attraction that's not a high speed race around magnificent desert landscape, not more of the same.

      @@darien5712 I understand that but the reality is putting a cars land in Magic Kingdom behind Big Thunder Mountain would be an inappropriate location for because the cars franchise doesn’t technically represent Frontierland or talks about the Wild West if you put a cars land in Hollywood Studios that would make more sense because you would have Toy Story land and Cars land right next to each other because these are the two biggest car’s franchises and besides Disney originally announced cars land would be part of phase 4 of Hollywood Studios because we already phase 1 which was Toy Story land phase 2 Star Wars Galaxy’s edge and phase 3 Mickey & Minnie’s Runway Railway

    Radiator Springs Racers in that area might look great with the mountain range behind Big Thunder, but I really hope this isn't true. I've heard RSR rumored for DHS for the longest time, but even that -- can they stop cloning attractions domestically? There are already so many clones and these parks need to maintain originality. Even if there are differences in the clones, they're still clones. Hopefully, we get something new!

    Disney should create a 5th gate for all these ideas. Stop cannibalizing MK and it's history.
    A 5th gate would lessen the crowds and demand in MK and more people would ride stuff instead of wait in insufferable lines all day.

    1. Getting rid of rivers of america and tom sawyer island in their entirety would be unforgivable. They are unique, timeless and a peaceful break area.
    2. Radiator springs and a Woody wild west area would visually fit near Big Thunder, but i dont think Pixar IP fits well in Magic Kingdom.
    3. If they did do those latter two ideas, they must integrate the train track through those two areas for kinetic energy like how the train passes over things in Disneyland. Think the opening scene of toy story 3 where its a realistic depiction of the toys in the wild west where the train is involved. Bridges, tunnels, etc. They must do a realistic depiction of Woody’s wild west like that instead of the "toy sized" theming at Hollywood Studios.
