  • The Walt Disney Company of today is one that tends to repeat itself, and the announcement of Universal Orlando's Epic Universe-at a time where Disney is already sinking-may very likely put the building of a fifth gate in motion. In this video, you will learn about the numerous instances in which Disney built new parks or themed lands to stay competitive, as well as how history might just repeat itself yet again.

      @@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od Then I'll say it. They're getting old fast. And by that I mean the upkeep is not what it used to be. Sounds cliche I know. I brought my family to Disney in 2010. Went I got back, everybody at work was asking how it went. The thing I mentioned most was how impeccable it was. It went something like "Yes it was very expensive. But when you get there and look around, really look, you'll see that your money is well spent. Everything was prefect. I mean even the Dumbo ride (which was built how long ago?) looks like it was built yesterday". That is gone. One tiny example is housekeeping. They do not refresh your room everyday. And there are dozens of other examples. It used to be you felt like they did everything they possibly could to make you stay the best it could be. Now they do just enough to hope you'll come back again.
      TLDR: Disney's budget cuts are affecting the ascetics of their properties while their competition continues to improve theirs.

      theyve expanded epcot and hollywood studios and animal kingdom and magic kingdom. When i was a kid like no changed happened at all. • @Flyoff1234
      @Flyoff1234 25 дней назад +1

      @@Faerrayice Fair point. My concern is that most of these “expansions” are actually “redesigns” of previous lands or attractions. Pandora, Galaxy’s Edge, Guardians, and Moana all had to demolish other attractions to expand. With the increase in crowds and wait times (especially because of Genie+), Disney needs to add on more areas to the park. For example, instead of spending lots of money building Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to not increase capacity at all, this money would have been better spent creating a custom ride with unused land. That to me, combined with extremely long construction times, is one of the main reasons why it feels like DW has not expanded much.

    It is likely a very bad idea imo to try for another park. First off Animal and California adventure are still not great parks, making a new one when existing parks desperately need improvements is bad idea. The only benefit of a new park is Hype and little else.
    Never mind too many parks in one area is a diminishing return. People can only see so much in one trip, if they are already staying for a week it doesn't matter which parks they go to to be honest. Disney would be better off building another park else where to draw in a new crowd, or expanding other smaller parks like Disney Land imo.

    I live in Orlando and barely have been to Disney and can't wait to go to Epic Universe but competition can make for a Great new Disney park. I feel Universal is known as a more adult and edgier park. I think Disney should make different Island lands just like Universal. I feel that Villain's land idea would be a great competitor to Universal's Monsters land. A Pirates themed Island with a more thrilling water boat/roller coaster ride that could rival the Mummy would be cool. I think they should compete with some really scary horror rides with the 20th Century Alien theme. I think Disney's biggest threat is Nintendo Land, they need some type of Video IP to slightly compete with that. I think they should call up Sega and make a Sonic Land and even help Sega make some new better games.

    If they ever do have a fifth park built (which they should've done during the decade of the 2010s), they should have it be like Disney's California Adventure with similar themed areas such as Buena Vista Street, Pixar Pier, Paradise Gardens Park, San Fransokyo Square, Performance Corridor, Grizzly Peak, Hollywood Land, Avengers Campus, and Cars Land as well as with the nighttime water and light spectacular known as World of Color that transforms Paradise Bay into a water canvas.

    I disagree with your opinion on why Disney parks are popular. While brand recognition is certainly a big factor. More importantly why it's popular is brand trust. They have been supplying quality experiences for YEARS. People believe in them. Notice how the parks are at an all time low because the quality is getting worse. EVEN THOUGH there has never been more brand recognizable things in the park. It's actually ruining the parks.
    Disney parks used to have vision across the entire park, themed with cohesion and provided family friendly experiences for all ages. That is something Universal has not been able to provide as their park feels like a mess of stuff and is loaded with thrill rides with nothing tame AND good. It's either a kiddy ride or a well made thrill ride (or a poorly made one).
    Brand recognition is not THE player you made it out to be, simply a part of a larger puzzle. And is actually exactly what the disney company thinks is THE major player. All of the executives are thinking like you and it's killing their parks.
    There's a reason Pirates of The Caribbean is one of their most popular rides... Even though the ride is not attached to an ip. Oh, well maybe let's list each popular ride in each land: Pirate's (or jungle cruise), Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion, Seven Dwarves or Peter Pan, And Space Mountain. Only one of these lands' most pooular ride is ip based. And that's because the point of the land was to incorporate Disney's ips.
    Disney was founded on creativity and story telling.
    Even by other parks' most popular: Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, Soarin (or Spaceship or Test Track). These rides are popular not because of ip (one could argue Tower, but it wasn't a disney ip and it was an older one at that). And while ip can draw crowds; it doesn't retain them. Good rides do. Ip based popularity is false equivalency. The ip to begin with is only popular because of the initial quality put into the IP it's based on.
    I agree with the thought process behind why a park could be in the works and maybe all your points was from the perspective of the Disney Execs. But in that case I'm stating my case with the Disney Execs... Who are totally listening 😂. But needless to say the points made in the video are valid to a degree but not in its entirety.
